Faild to save sequence file. Out of memory

I need to write several arrays to my report file. This works fine for a couple of times, but when I add to many steps I get the message "Failed to save sequence file xxx.seq. Out of memory" from the Sequence Editor.
I found the "CustomActionStep" on this board and modyfied it to handle two arrays.
Any ideas to why this happens?

Hi misa37,
I have run your sequence file several times, but I am unable to reproduce the same error message. I opened the sequence in TestStand 4.1, added 6 copied steps to the ones already present. My computer has 2 GB of RAM, with 20GB free of hard disk space.
If you open the task manager while the code executes is there a noticeable CPU spike or rise as the code executes? Have you tested this code on a different computer that has more RAM? What version of TestStand are you using?

Unknown File, Out of Memory

When opening my project sequence across a gigabit Ethernet connection to an Xsan, I first get: File Error: Unknown File, followed by: Error: Out of Memory.
The Sequence is full of Jpegs, Tiffs, and some 10-Bit Uncompressed. How can I get to view this project..?

As mentioned above, picture files, such as jpegs require RAM in order to playback. You mentioned you have a lot of TIFFs and JPEGs in this project. I'm still willing to bet that is exactly what is causing the Out of Memory error.
Sure, you can copy files over the same network with great speeds, but try taking all of those jpegs and try transferring them simultaneously. I doubt you'll get great speeds doing that.
You could have your editor use the Media Manager to copy the project to an external drive.

Can't open .ppt file: "out of memory" error on Mavericks

Hello,
I have a couple of .ppt files that can't open/import in keynote v5.3. It says "import error: out of memory". The files are pretty small, 500kb to 8mb, no videos or music, only images and plain text. I have dozens of free gb.
This error started popping out after I updated to Mavericks a few days ago.
Keynote works fine with other .ppt.
The .ppt can be opened in Power Point (in a Windows PC, I don't have it installed) and with Previews.
I read that if I update to the new iWork the old version is kept in a separate folder. Do you confirm that I can still use both the old and the new version?
What can I do about that?

This error is usually caused by a corrupt ppt file or an incompatible font.
A quick work around is to recreate the presentation in Keynote from scratch using the images copied from the original.

No Movie in file-Out of memory errors!

I can't open my file! or related autosave files!

I have had a similar kind of message when I've had a file passed between soundtrack or live type back to FCP that has become corrupt. If you are getting a name of a particular file that has no movie, you might want to try deleting it - that may give you an offline message, and it should then allow the project file to open.

Rendering print resolution files -- out of memory, out of luck?

Hey guys!
Trying to render a 7500x5000 pixel image for a print piece. And not surprisingly, I'm getting out of memory buffer errors. Am I just out of luck trying to render something so massive out of AE (until it goes 64bit)? Trying to render just a small ROI isn't working either.

I hear your point. Technically it makes since, but I'd have to disagree. After all, the monitors we use can't display 32bpc color space anyway. Almost all the motion graphics we make ends up in 8bpc color on TV or Web. So we're always viewing some sort of drastically reduced color space.
As a test, I had AE render out a 1/10 res TIFF in 32bpc, reduced the file to 8bpc in Photoshop and did a CYMK soft proof and it looked remarkably faithful to what After Effects was displaying. I took the low-res sample file to the printer and they did a test printing and it looked exactly like the on-screen soft proof. So it's just the effects and transfer modes I want AE to process in HDR space.
So what I ended up doing was rendering out each layer individually and then used Photoshop to assemble all the layers in 32bpc. While I lost the interactivity of working with live plug-ins in After Effects, I was able to get the look I wanted.
Looking forward to the day when After Effects goes 64-bit

Is it possible to save HTML files to touch memory?

Is it possible to save html files to the touch memory and view them when not within WiFi range? When traveling I'm more often than not without a WiFi connection. I do NOT want an iPhone nor it's hefty wireless data bill. I simply want to view locally saved HTML files. Is that possible without jailbreaking? Thank you.

This is a great question. I want to buy a Touch but I won't buy one until I know the answer to this question.
I went to an Apple store last week and told them I ride the bus to work every day. I said I wanted to download information over my wireless network at home, then view the info while riding the bus to work.
The guy told me that I could view whatever was in my cache. I don't know how big the cache is. I read through the Itouch user guide and couldn't find any info.
If someone has some useful experience, it would be very appreciated. If you can use the cache, how many typical web pages can you store?

Why do I have to quit Mac Mail to save a file out of another app?

Scenario:
I create a file in one of the Adobe CS4 apps on my iMac. I send the file as an attachment to a client. They review and request changes. I make the changes but when I try to save or export the file I get a file in use message. In order to save or export the file, I have to quit Mac Mail. Then, I can reopen Mac Mail and attach the file to send back to the client. This has been a problem for more that a year through v.10.5 and v.10.6. I've rebuilt the mail boxes to no avail. Any Ideas?

That's not it. Better scenario:
I create a layout in Indesign and export it as a .pdf to a job folder I made for the project. Then I attach to an email and send to my client. They reply to the email with their changes. I make the corrections to the Indesign file, but when I try to export a new .pdf to replace the original in the job folder, I get the file in use message. I can save to another location, but that creates duplicates. As soon as I quit Mac Mail, I can export the file by writing over the original in the jobs folder. This never used to be a problem for me but it started over a year ago and despite keeping my software updated, it persists.

Out of memory when rendering...mystery! urgent help!

ok, this is mysterious. and stressful, because of course it happens when i have to output this and get on a plane.
I created a stereo sequence which is high def, 3840x1080. photo jpeg. it has stills, and embedded hdv sequence content.
out of memory error when exporting quicktime movie, either through fcp or compressor.
so i have gone to the individual sequences (left and right) which are normal hdv sequences with video and stills, and out put a quicktime of each. i'll import the quicktimes and build the stereo sequence with these two quicktime files.
the right sequence rendered, and output as a quicktime movie just fine.
the left sequence failed, out of memory error.
so i started rendering the sequence a bit at a time to find where the problem is. the problem is on two pieces of hdv footage, and a few frames of a photo.
HERE'S THE STRANGE THING:
except for the few frames of still photo, which are in a transition of text overlay, everything is identical to the right sequence which rendered and output JUST FINE! the only difference with the text is that its position is slightly different...but 97% of it rendered just fine. I found one still which was grayscale which i've changed to RGB, but still no difference in being able to render. and it rendered in grayscale on the right sequence.
I've changed my scratch disk to a drive with over a tb of space, I have 5gb of RAM with only fcp running, on a dual core 2.67 mac pro.
help!

Deleting FCP Preferences:
Open a Finder window. Set the view mode to columns:
Click the house icon that has your name next to it.
Click the folder "Library" in the next column.
Find and click the folder "Preferences" in the next column.
Find and click the folder "Final Cut Pro User Data" in the next column.
Move the files "Final Cut Pro 6.0 Prefs", "Final Cut Pro Obj Cache" and "Final Cut Pro Prof Cache" to the Trash and empty it.
When you have a stable set of preference files, download [Preference Manager|http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm] to back them up. If you have further problems, the backup can be recalled and you can continue working.

Will saving a sequence file with modified variables work on all licensing levels of TestStand?

I am thinking of enabling editing of test limits for a few steps via an operator interface mechanism of some sort (popup dialog box, etc.).
If I make an API call to save the sequence file with the modified limits (as opposed to using the property export/import mechanism), will the call succeed if the end-customer has only a deployment license (no debug or dev)?
For that matter, if I *were* to use the property export mechanism via an API call from the operator interface, would that call succeed regardless of the licensing level on the target machine?

The deployment license will not allow you to save sequence files using the API. It will generate an error.

Sequence not Opening: File not found and Out of Memory Error Message

Hello
Attempting to open sequence in FC gives me the error: File not found.
Clicking on okay in the message gives another error: Out of Memory.
Final Cut Pro version is 6.02
Anybody have a solution on how to get this sequence working again?

Can a sequence file with in a project become corrupted?
Luckily, I always make duplicate of the sequence I'm working on at the start of the day. And I save often when I'm working.
The earlier duplicated version of the sequence works, so not everything is lost.
Unfortunately the auto save was disabled in my profile, back on it goes.
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone before and that if there is a fix - if it is not a corrupted file?

Why is there a message saying I'm out of RAM when I try to save a file to my computer, when I know I am not out of memory?

I am on a Macbook 13' on OS X 10.9.2 running Photoshop CS5.1. I know I am not out of memory because I have just been through it with an Apple advisor. I was trying to save a PDF as a JPEG on my desktop. Restarted, still saying the same thing.
Any ideas?

How do I save a running sequence file

Part of my testing requires a large number of variables to be passed to and from the UUT within TestStand. I can store some of these variables in the station globals, but I'd like the option to store others in the sequence files at run time and save them to disk (save the sequence file) at the end of the test. I can create variables in the station globals and commit the globals to disk just fine (LabVIEW vi's using the TestStand API). However, I cannot figure out how to do the same thing with a sequence file. My code is able to create and populate the locals variables with no problem, but I cannot save the running sequence file to disk with the new locals (or file globals) intact (they disappear when the sequence ends.) The reason I want to save the sequence file is to avoid manually entering all these variables into each sequence file locals list.
So, I think the questions are:
How do I make the new locals or file globals a part of the running sequence file?
How do I save the sequence file to disk before it stops running?
I can increment the change count on the file. I have figured out two or three ways to save the file while it's running without errors (although I doubt it's actually doing anything.) I'm using the TestStand API in LabVIEW vi's to pull this off and cannot find the functions I'm looking for.
Sorry if this is rambling, it's kind of hard to describe.

The reason that we can't save the local variables created during
runtime is because TestStand creates a runtime copy of the variables
when the sequence starts. After the sequence is finished executing,
this copy is discarded. The reason behind this is that TestStand allows
for a single sequence to have multiple executions at the same time, and
each instance gets its own runtime copy of the local variables. If new
locals could be saved to the actual sequence file in memory, it could
cause major problems for other execution threads of that particular
.seq file.
You can use the API to add variables to the actual file using
GetSequenceFileEx and incrementing the Change Count, or create a
separate sequence that modifies another sequence file, but adding these
locals to the sequence file from itself isn't possible.

Cannot open Sequence: "Operation Not Allowed" then "Out of Memory"

I quit FCS1 for about 5 hours and returned. When I opened the project I was working on I got these messages: "Operation Not Allowed" then "Out of Memory" when I attempt to open my master working sequence. Other sequences (small nests) do open within the project. The project opens, so the file is not corrupt. A back-up copy of the same project file on a separate physical disc generates the same results. I deleted the prefs and User Data folder, even ran FCP Rescue. Same results. Then I resorted to the Autosave Vault. The two most recent saves resulted in the same error messages. Fortunately the next did not. I lost a considerable amount of work. The system says my memory is OK (6GB). Any ideas? (An attempt to open on a FCS2 machine {8GB RAM} resulted in the same two error messages.)
The project is fairly lengthy (90 mins) and does have numerous 1 and 2 frame audio edits. Nothing particularly unusual in the video tracks--although I am mixing DV and HDV. It doesn't seem to me these attributes would matter, just throwing them out there.

...removing and re-rendering is a great idea, if you've got the time.
And if during render you get the same out of memory error, try rendering "in-to-out", rendering small chunks until you get to a chunk which brings up the error. Then, you've found an offending "corrupt" file.

Can't open vcf file. "The file may not exist ... Out of memory or system resources"

Trying to open a vcf file (vCard) from a user. After double-clicking file, get message:
Cannot open file: C:\folder\filename.vcf. The file may not exist, you may not have permission to open it, or it may be open in another program. Right-click the folder that contains
the file, and then click Properties to check your permissions for the folder. Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.
I have Outlook 2010 with SP2.

I turn OFF cached exchange mode. I double-click the vcf file, it opens fine.
I turn ON cached exchange mode. I double-click the vcf file, I get the erorr message again.
We have hosted Exchange, so we can't turn off cached exchange mode in Outlook.
Is this a bug? Anybody know of a fix?
By the way, if I save one of my contact as a vcf file
and double-click it, it opens fine.
