Failing to load drivers (xf86-video-intel) for Intel GMA x3100

Heey,
I'm installing Archlinux on my Compaq 6710b. This is the problem:
No matter what I try, Xorg -configure fails to load the intel drivers for my 965 gma (x3100).
Weird is that a week ago, I did an install with the pre-release iso's and it worked flawlessly detecting everything as it should and by itself. Now with the new iso's I did several installs, but I can't get the xf86-video-intel driver to work, it's giving me the following error message:
List of video drivers:
fglrx  <------------------- don't know when he came in
    i810  <
intel  < ------------------- i810 and intel are both installed with the xf86-video-intel 2.1.1-2 from [testing]
vesa < ------------------- currently using vesa as the rest ain't working

When I try to set the intel driver manually by editing xorg.conf in section device, it gives an error saying the driver is not present.
I tried installing from different sources... but nope, the error still remains.
My question is: what is changed since the last iso's before the current that suddenly I get this weird message about the undefined symbol and all. Or am I overseeing some stupid thing here...

ok,
here is the xorg.0.log when I edit the xorg.conf so that in the section 'device' it says 'intel' in stead of 'vesa'.

I've been looking all over on where to post a bug, and for a fix for this bug I found. Not many seem to be having this problem (I assume not many are trying to randomly play a video from a video playlist)
BUG: Playback Fails When Loading A Random Video
    iPod FIRMWARE: 1.2
PROBLEM (1): When pressing "Play" on a video playlist or on 'Music Videos' while the iPod is set to Random->Song, the iPod displays a white playback screen, displays song 0 of 0, empty duration bar and a duration time of 0:00/-0:00.
PROBLEM (2): After successful playing a seleted video within a video playlist or music video list, the iPod attempts to play a randomly choosen video (HDD clicks abnormally) but times-out and returns the user to the Playlist selection screen.
iPod MODEL: 60GB Video - Black [Bought in NOV 05]
If anyone knows how to report a bug, or anyone else having this problem (Try it on you iPod, post your results!) let me know!

I've been looking all over on where to post a bug...If anyone knows how to report a bug let me know!
If you want to post a bug report for Apple to see, then this wouldn't be the place to post it (Apple employees rarely look on these forums; all other regular posters on here are just users that like to help others).
To tell Apple about this, select "Bug Report" under "Feedback Type" on their Feedback form for iPods here -> iPod Feedback
    I hope this helps you,

  • Failed to load class properties and qualifiers for class BDD_UsePackage in task sequence. 0x80041002

Following situation. In SCCM we have one Standalone Primray Site Server and two Site Server. The two site server are also SMS Provider. MDT 2012 was installed on all three Servers and the Config Manager Integration was run. When starting the Console
on any of this server and editing an MDT Task Sequence, it occasionally pops up an error "An error occured when loading the task sequence". TaskSequenceProvider.log File throws a lot of errors:

Tried removing the integration on all SMS Provider Machines and readded them. It does not make a differenence. Does anyone know if MDT supports the use of multiple SMS Providers? When I only use one Provider and deinstall the other two, it works ok.

  • Who can write Solaris video driver for Intel 810?

We have a customer who wants to use a Flex/ATX mother board with the Solaris OS. The Flex/ATX mother boards us the Intel 810/810E chip set and we have not been able to find a Solaris video driver for that chip set. Does anyone know if such a driver exists or could anyone suggest a company/individual who I could contact to write such a driver for us?
Roger Hull (IBM - Charlotte NC)

    Santucho,
If you can not find the video board listed on the Solaris Hardware
Compatibility list found on access1.sun.com, then go over to XInside
    at:
    http://www.xinside.com/
Their Accelerated-X Display Server is their flagship product. It comes with graphics drivers to support over 600 single-head graphics cards and free customer support. Available in box form, it is licensed on a
    per machine per user basis.
    Hope thjs helps.

  • IMac slot-loader as a video display for a G4 tower?

Can I use my iMac slot-loader (OS 9,2,2,) as a video display for a G4 tower?  I have a redundant model of each and I'd like to drum them into use.  How could I set it up? Thanks

Look for VNC and Remote Desktop solutions.  You will need to connect an actual VGA display to your G4 to set each one up.    Firewire over IP is a solution that will allow you to network machines at faster than 10/100 ethernet found on iMac G3s.   Otherwise any advantage of the speed of the G4 will be lost.  Buying an LCD for your towers would probably be more of a space saver.

  • 2 X person video chat for Intel Qs

Hey I know the specs required for doing a multi person (eg, more than 2 people) video chat for PowerPC processors, however I was wondering what the spec requirements are for the Intel ones... I am primarily directing this towards the Mac Mini Solo v. Duo which I am assuiming the Solo could be the only one that might have limitations (like my poor powerbook...).
SO my question is can a Mac Mini Solo HOST a multi person video chat OR is it like my powerbook and other "slower" apples that can only join multi chats yet cannot host them? AND if the Solo cannot HOST a multi person video chat CAN it at least JOIN a multi person video chat?
AND finally JUST to make sure there are no compatabilities problems, can a intel based apple multi-video chat with a powerpc apple?
    Thank you,
    TM

    Hi T.M.,
Go to System Preferences and then Quicktime.
    Select the Streaming tab.
In the drop down se the speed to match your download speed.
If it faster than 1.5meg then use 1.5 meg.

  • Video support for Intel

    Hi all,
I have Solaris 8 for Intel installed on a Dell Dimension XPS t750r desktop machine. It has a Nvidia TNT 32 MB video card. However, during and after install, the install didn't recoginize the card. I then attempted to select it from the list and test, but Solaris generated an error. Because of this I was forced to select VGA only.
Is there a workaround to this?

    Wonder if this might help?

  • Better drivers for the GMA X3100

Hello, i heard that the GMA X3100 is 2x faster than the GMA 950 on Windows.
Now on OS X it is even slower than the GMA 950 in OpenGL.
It must be a very bad driver.
Do anyone of you know how to install a good video card driver on 10.5.6 or to enhance it?
    Thank you for answers.

Is Apple still developing that drivers?

    Hello,
First off I want to say, thank you for Arch! Been using some distros on and off and I think I found my /home! Anyways, So far all my computers are either Arch or Manjaro which I am moving more towards straight arch as Manjaro does have some issues when updating your system (dependency loops). All and all not bad, just liking the full control of a pure system then building from scratch.
Ok, the issue at hand. I have removed Windows 8.1 from my HP All in One Pavilion 23 machine....what a nightmare that was.... Everything was good after turning off secure boot. I installed Arch Linux (3.14.4-1) x86_64, and I am having issues getting the xf86-video-intel driver to play nice with X.
    I have taken a screenshot:
    Screenshot
I notice this starts right after the choosing the Arch Linux from the boot option menu. It starts the load nice and crisp but after a second the screen flickers with some lines at the top of the screen, random colors, only about the top 3rd of the screen. This modules begin to load but the terminal text looks blocky and horrible.
I am using Openbox 3.5.2-6 with slim 1.3.6-4. Running xorg-server 1.15.1-1 and xorg-server-utils 7.6-3 with all the dependencies of course.

    # MODULES
    # The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are
    # run. Advanced users may wish to specify all system modules
    # in this array. For instance:
    # MODULES="piix ide_disk reiserfs"
    MODULES="i915"
    # BINARIES
    # This setting includes any additional binaries a given user may
    # wish into the CPIO image. This is run last, so it may be used to
    # override the actual binaries included by a given hook
    # BINARIES are dependency parsed, so you may safely ignore libraries
    BINARIES=""
    # FILES
    # This setting is similar to BINARIES above, however, files are added
    # as-is and are not parsed in any way. This is useful for config files.
    FILES=""
    # HOOKS
    # This is the most important setting in this file. The HOOKS control the
    # modules and scripts added to the image, and what happens at boot time.
    # Order is important, and it is recommended that you do not change the
    # order in which HOOKS are added. Run 'mkinitcpio -H <hook name>' for
    # help on a given hook.
    # 'base' is _required_ unless you know precisely what you are doing.
    # 'udev' is _required_ in order to automatically load modules
    # 'filesystems' is _required_ unless you specify your fs modules in MODULES
    # Examples:
    ## This setup specifies all modules in the MODULES setting above.
    ## No raid, lvm2, or encrypted root is needed.
    # HOOKS="base"
    ## This setup will autodetect all modules for your system and should
    ## work as a sane default
    # HOOKS="base udev autodetect block filesystems"
    ## This setup will generate a 'full' image which supports most systems.
    ## No autodetection is done.
    # HOOKS="base udev block filesystems"
    ## This setup assembles a pata mdadm array with an encrypted root FS.
    ## Note: See 'mkinitcpio -H mdadm' for more information on raid devices.
    # HOOKS="base udev block mdadm encrypt filesystems"
    ## This setup loads an lvm2 volume group on a usb device.
    # HOOKS="base udev block lvm2 filesystems"
    ## NOTE: If you have /usr on a separate partition, you MUST include the
    # usr, fsck and shutdown hooks.

I saw your post, and had found it incredulous that you have a 1920x1080 display.  A bit of research and I found I was wrong.
So, it appears you are driving the panel at its native resolution.  Unfortunately, trying to determine what you mean by "Fuzzy" is probably going to be like trying to nail Jello to a tree.  But, let's give it a shot.  Is it fuzzy before you start X?  Are lines and shapes fuzzy? Or is it just text that is fuzzy?
If it is just fonts, it could be a problem with hinting.  Hinting is where the edges of fonts are deliberately fuzzed and feathered to get the kerning correct when the physical pixels of the display don't quite line up.  This works well, unless the thing doing the hinting does not understand the geometry of the display.  In a color LCD, each pixel is actually made up of smaller sub pixels, generally three -- A red, a green, and a blue.  Green is usually in the middle.  Some displays have Two greens per pixel, arranged RGBG.  Some displays even have yellow subpixels.  Sometimes the subpixels are arranged left to right, sometimes they are arranged top to bottom.  Long story short, if you have hinting enabled, but the geometry is configured incorrectly, bad things happen.   Take a look at this wiki article

  • Why does xf86-video-intel conflicts xf86-video-i810?

    Hello,
I have a question. Why conflicts xf86-video-intel the xf86-video-i810 driver? Yes I know that -intel is the follow-up, but are there also another (technical) reasons? The problem is that -intel doesn't work very good for me, but sometimes I need it to get a external monitor working. If both are installed it would be no problem to switch it in the xorg.conf, but installing around everytime is a bit annoying.
I just wanted to ask why this is so and if this could be changed
    Thanks
PS: I don't want to start a revolution ;-) and please forgive me if this is a silly question.

  • [Solved] No AIGLX after recent update (xf86-video-ati)

    Hey there,
I was wondering why gnome3 wasn't working in full mode so I played around a bit
and finally updated my xorg-server to 1.10.* along with all of my graphics drivers.
Now I don't have opengl support anymore. Before gnome3 I was running compiz
using my old drivers without problems. The new drivers don't work so well for me obviously.
So in my Xorg log it says:
(EE) AIGLX error: Calling driver entry point failed
(EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering
I have an AMD 785G on-board chip using the following drivers:
    xf86-video-ati 6.14.1-1
    ati-dri 7.10.2-2
    libgl 7.10.2-2
    libdrm 2.4.25-1
and I have a dual head setup so I do have a tiny Xorg.conf...
    just in case that's important.
For once my entire system is updated to all the latest versions.
Any ideas? Should I switch to the testing drivers?
Should I downgrade again? I'm pretty sure the old drivers didn't work with the new xorg-server
that's why I delayed the xorg update for so long...

Yeah, I'm in the video group.
At least that's what "groups" tells me.
My Xorg.conf or precisely my 10-monitor.conf in xorg.conf.d

  • Xf86-video-ati with S.Islands - do you like it?

    Hi!
Some times ago I tried to use xf86-video-ati driver for my ATI AMD Radeon HD7870 card and it was not really comfortable due to hight card temperature even without hight video load.
Now we have xorg-server and catalyst-utils in conflict, so I am wondering should I try open source drivers again to keep system up to date. I do not need 3d, only composite effects, video and low temperature. May be now situation is better with S.I. support.
Is there any S.I. cards users with xf86-video-ati driver? What card do you have? Do you satisfied with composite and 2d performance with kwin and KDE? What is the temperature of your card? Right now I have 36 degrees without load according to aticonfig --odgt.
P.S. At first I thought I can just try xf86-video-ati for myself, but because of package conflict it will be now not so easy to go back. I would like not to deal with custom repos and/or package downgrades.

I would wait at least another month to see what gets revealed (if anything) to the macbook product line. With the WIFI drops associated with current release I cannot recommend anything until then.
I would love to have a new macbook if it had an aluminum chassis like the Pro.
If you remember, they used to have the little 13" aluminum G4 which was a sweet little machine.

How old is your computer? About 5yo or more? I think your card is quite old and may not work with the recent drivers. Unfortunately the old drivers (xf86-video-intel-legacy) don't work w/ the new xorg so you (and I for that matter, as I have an old intel card too) are pretty much f***ed.
I can get my computer to run, but it will freeze 20 times a day so it's no fun. That's why I stick w/ the old drivers and the old xorg and I'm fine :-)
    > xterm is the only active DE in .xinitrc
Can you post your .xinitrc? I think xterm should run ...
    > im not getting any errors, just a blank black screen.
OK, what about the logs? 'grep EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log' will show the errors.
How did you configure xorg, do you have xorg.conf?
