Failure obtaining db row lock: ORA-01157

Hi,
I have a client using The customer is using Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production With the Partitioning, Real Application Clusters, Automatic Storage Management. Recently an application was installed wherein the scripts created a .dbf file instead of saving on the disk group. Hence if i run the below query i see the following output
SQL> select name from v$datafile;
NAME
+RIAMSTG_DBF1/riamstg/datafile/oamstg_mds.259.821014833
+RIAMSTG_DBF1/riamstg/datafile/oamstg_ias_opss.256.821014833

+RIAMSTG_DBF1/riamstg/datafile/bistg_biplatform.278.821875255
/db/oracle/112/db/dbhome_1/dbs/rbacx.dbf
Now when we restart the DB we see the below error.
ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data file 18 - see DBWR trace file
ORA-01110: data file 18: '/db/oracle/112/db/dbhome_1/dbs/rbacx.dbf'
ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
Linux-x86_64 Error: 2: No such file or directory
I believe the error may be related to the .dbf file. How can i move this to ASM format?

How do you plan on moving a file that does NOT exist?

    I would check the network pieces as suggested in our internal emails. If the connection is dropping somewhere on your network, the lock would never be released.

  • How and when the database release a row lock?

    Dear experts,
    We are using the following statement to obtain a row lock in a table in the database(ORACLE of course),
    SELECT * FROM {TABLE_NAME} WHERE ID = 1 for update
    and if we succeed grabbing the row lock we will continue to issue a update statement every 30 seconds to preserve the lock as far as possible.
    here is the update statement to preserve the lock,
    UPDATE {TABLE_NAME} SET time = ? WHERE ID = 1.
    As you see more longer we keep holding the row lock , more update statements are submitted in the pending transaction.
    In normal case our application can grab the exclusive row lock and works for a long time,however sometimes a connection reset exception is thrown
    and our application will close the connection(I assume the pending transaction will be rolled back by the database) and exit the JVM.
    Since other applications will keep trying to grab the same row lock to become the master role,
    we expect one of them can succeed but they are all failed because the database has not released the row lock as expected.
    Can someone explain more details about how and when the row lock can get released in our use case?
    Thanks,
    SuoNayi

    Hm. Is this part of an XA transaction by any chance? I know that Oracle maintains separate bookkeeping for such transactions which can cause rows to stay 'locked' even when the regular DBA views will indicate there is no user currently locking the record at all. I have no idea about the actual details and what you need to do to clean up such a situation, that is something a DBA should know and do.
    If not... well this is more of a question for people who know the DBMS, which makes it a target for the Oracle DBMS forums. Java developers don't tend to have DBA-level knowledge of the database, you should ask the question where you have more chance of people with expertise answering stuff:

    I didn't understand what do you mean with thread...
    But I think you found the problem
    Initialization files of both ASM instance are: SPFILE='/dev/spfileASM'
    that SPFILE is (common for both):
    +ASM2.__oracle_base='/u01/app/oracle'#ORACLE_BASE set from environment
    +ASM2.asm_diskgroups='ONLINELOG','ARCHIVELOG','DATA'
    +ASM1.asm_diskgroups='ONLINELOG','ARCHIVELOG','DATA','STORE'#Manual Mount
    *.asm_diskstring='/dev/asm*'
    *.cluster_database=true
    *.diagnostic_dest='/u01/app/oracle'
    +ASM1.instance_number=1
    +ASM2.instance_number=2
    *.instance_type='asm'
    *.large_pool_size=12M
    +ASM1.local_listener='LISTENER_ASM'
    +AC
    Then I executed another query:
    From ASM1
    SQL> select instance_name from v$instance;
    INSTANCE_NAME
    +ASM1
    SQL> select name, state from v$asm_diskgroup;
    NAME STATE
    ARCHIVELOG MOUNTED
    DATA MOUNTED
    ONLINELOG MOUNTED
    STORE MOUNTED
    SQL>
    From ASM2
    SQL> select instance_name from v$instance;
    INSTANCE_NAME
    +ASM2
    SQL> select name, state from v$asm_diskgroup;
    NAME STATE
    ARCHIVELOG MOUNTED
    DATA MOUNTED
    ONLINELOG MOUNTED
    STORE DISMOUNTED
    SQL>
    Than the question is:
    how can I mount the disk group STORE also on ASM2?
    I think the problems is into the spfile lines:
    +ASM2.asm_diskgroups='ONLINELOG','ARCHIVELOG','DATA'
    +ASM1.asm_diskgroups='ONLINELOG','ARCHIVELOG','DATA','STORE'
    How can I change the +ASM2.asm_diskgroups value?
    Thanks

    I am deploying my application components on Oracle RAC database, when i install my app component i will run a script which creates a user and tablespace on bot rac-nodes(node1 and node2)

    i am able to successfully run my script on rac-node1 and and installed my component and when i started installing the app component on node2 getting error

    You should not create database files outside of the ASM.
    I'm not sure you can move the datafile, I would export the data from the tablespace (if there is data you need there), delete the tablespace and recreate it in the ASM, then import the data back.
    If you want to move the datafile, you can try using RMAN (from node1).
    First connect to the database with sqlplus and execute:
    alter tablespace <tbs_name> offline;Then start RMAN: rman target /
    BACKUP AS COPY DATAFILE '<file>' FORMAT '+<ASM_DG>';Then in sqlplus, execute:
    alter tablespace <tbs_name> online;I'm not sure it will work, and I hope I got the commands right because I can't check it right now.

  • ASM diskgroups unmounting, getting ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data fil

    All,
    We've recently purchased a RAMSAN device for better throughput. I created the initial diskgroup with the following syntax:
    CREATE DISKGROUP EMTPRD0X_SSD01 NORMAL REDUNDANCY
    FAILGROUP RS1 DISK '/dev/rdsk_ramsan_primary' NAME ssd_prim
    FAILGROUP RS2 DISK '/dev/rdsk_ramsan_backup' NAME ssd_bkup;
    and then created a temporary tablespace on top of that diskgroup:
    create temporary tablespace temp04 tempfile '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g, '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g, '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g, '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g, '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g;
    Everything seemed fine at first and then end users started seeing the following errors in the alert log:
    SUCCESS: diskgroup EMTPRD0X_SSD01 was mounted
    SUCCESS: diskgroup EMTPRD0X_SSD01 was dismounted
    SUCCESS: diskgroup EMTPRD0X_SSD01 was mounted

    After talking with Oracle support I was told that the only workaround for diskgroups unmounting themselves is to put a control file/redo log/dummy tablespace inside of that diskgroup and continually write/read from it.
    Does that make sense?
    They pointed me to note 603204.1 - Why FRA Diskgroup Gets Mounted/Dismounted.

    Any ideas?

    Well, did you check f.i. your alert.log and other dumps?
    They will be on your server in the bdump, udump, cdump directories:
    Where to Find Files for Analyzing Errors
    Oracle records information about important events that occur in your Oracle RAC environment in trace files. The trace files for Oracle RAC are the same as those in single-instance Oracle databases. As a best practice, monitor and back up trace files regularly for all instances to preserve their content for future troubleshooting.
    Information about ORA-600 errors appear in the alert_SID.log file for each instance where SID is the instance identifier. For troubleshooting, you may need to also provide files from the following bdump locations:
    * $ORACLE_HOME/admin/db_name/bdump on UNIX-based systems
    * %ORACLE_HOME%\admin\db_name\bdump on Windows-based systems
    Some files may also be in the udump directory.
    In addition, the directory cdmp_timestamp contains in-memory traces of Oracle RAC instance failure information. This directory is located in ORACLE_HOME/admin/db_name/bdump/cdmp_timestamp, where timestamp is the time at which the error occurred.
    Trace dump files are stored under the cdmp directory. Oracle creates these files for each process that is connected to the instance. The naming convention for the trace dump files is same as for trace files, but with .trw as the file extension.

  • ORA-01157 and ORA-01110 errors

    Dear all,
    I was  getting "ORA-00205: error in identifying controlfile" error while starting the database
    This had happened during the investigation of the IMPORT_ABAP phase failure, during our system copy (Import)
    I found out in alert_SID.log that control file was missing in 3 locations /oracle/SID/origlogA, /oracle/SID/origlogB and /oracle/SID/sapdata1
    So I copied the control file from /oracle/GRD/saparch/cntrl to the above 3 locations. Now I am able to mount the database but not able to open it.
    Getting the below mentioned error
    ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data file 1 - see DBWR trace file
    ORA-01110: data file 1: '/oracle/SRD/sapdata1/system_1/system.data1'
    Any suggestions?

    The control file from /oracle/SRD/saparch/cntrl was an old file so deleted it from the 3 locations as mentioned earlier
    Now there is no control file in origlogA, origlobB and sadata1
    Now I am getting the below mentioned error
    ORA-00205: error in identifying control file, check alert log for more in
    any suggestions?

    To look into what? You probably modified your tabular form by adding a column and you didn't take care of the column source.

  • Acquiring database row lock in session bean

    I am getting a "ora-01002 fetch out of sequence" exception when trying to acquire a row lock by doing a select for update nowait sql command.
    The code that is trying to get the lock is running inside a session bean deployed in both weblogic 6.0 sp2 and JBOSS 3.0.4. I have read some other threads in the JDBC forum and they suggest me to use the con.setAutoCommit(false) to avoid this error. This solution works on weblogic but not on JBOSS. In JBOSS I got a message saying I should not be setting the auto commit value in a container managed transaction.
    Is there something I could do to do avoid the error without explicitly setting this value in the code?
    Thanks.
