Fault Message  concept needed

Hi
I'm doing one file to Proxy scenario.. if  the source file contain some mandatory fields then only my file should  be processed.. otherwise i need to raise an exception.. for this.. how fault messages concepts can we apply.. because i does't know any thing abt falut messages.. how can we use..  and where can we define  and  where can we add these ..
plz give me the  clear idea abt this..with basic steps
thanks
babu

Fault messages generally used for used for synchronous interfaces assume when a proxy is generated from a message interface an exception class is generated for a fault message type. You use this exception class to handle application errors at runtime.
The fault message of the application for an asynchronous ABAP server proxy is persisted for monitoring. In the case asynchronous of Java server proxies, the fault message is part of a negative application acknowledgement (see Acknowledgments).
Application-specific means that the application on the inbound side triggers the error itself because, for example, the request message did not contain sufficient information.

  • SOAP to RFC using fault message

    Hi All,
I get a request from Web-service by using the SOAP adapter and pass the same to the SAP ECC for geting the response. I do not need a message mapping as i am passing the same data to SAP ECC. I need to track the errors in fault messages.
Q1. Can i use the fault message handling without using the message mapping.
Q2. If web-service is down and i can't send the response back then do i need to using the fault messageing concept or is there any other way i can get the details back in XI.
If we can use the fault message without using message mapping concept, can someone help me out.
    Thanks,
    JGD

You are using SOAP sender and Proxy receiver synchronous
    >>Q1. Can i use the fault message handling without using the message mapping.
Request mapping, Response mapping and fault message mapping - all these three constitutes message mapping.
    >>Q2. If web-service is down and i can't send the response back then do i need to using the fault messageing concept or is there any other way i can get the details back in XI.
If the webservice is down , you dont get message, then you dont need fault message.  Fault message is used only for business exceptions and more. If your ECC is down due to some exceptions or errors, you can trace those messages in  proxy coding and pass  it up to soap as fault message as response.
In this case, you dont need at all.

  • RFC to SOAP fault message not catched

    Hi All
I have a scenario where RFC is being send from ECC system I then call a web service, The webservice returns me a fault error messages when for example the order on the webservice system does not exist.
I created a exception in the RFC and created the mapping for the fault message.
When call ing the webservice I get error in comunication chanell:
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: SOAP: response message contains an error XIAdapter/HTTP/ADAPTER.HTTP_EXCEPTION - HTTP 500 Internal Server Error
    I have tried adding:
    XMBWS.NoSOAPIgnoreStatusCode    =     true
In the modules tab but still not getting soap fault.
below is response from webservice if I use other soap client:
    <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
       <soap:Body>
          <soap:Fault>
             <faultcode>soap:Client</faultcode>
<faultstring>Unmarshalling Error: cvc-minLength-valid: Value '' with length = '0' is not facet-valid with respect to minLength '1' for type 'nonEmptyExternalReference'.</faultstring>
          </soap:Fault>
       </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>

    Hi,
I don't think so you can catch 500 internal server errors using falut messages.
Your target system has to capable of sending error messages in valid XML format then only you can catch them.coming too fault message concept we will implement in ABAP server proxies scenarios where we have a opportunity to catch errors in send as response. but i doubt in SOAP receiver scenarios.

  • Fault message types: Why do we need them?

    Hi guys,
I have a bpm scenario created, tested and working.
This bpm starts with a async receive, a Sync Send to a R3 system by an ABAP proxy and a final async send to the original system.
I'm contemplating exception handling and other type of errors. Meaning, if the abap proxy dumps I can raise an exception and map it on the XI environment. The thing is, on  sxmb_moni I get the exception handler, with the exception texts, id's, etc... from the R3 being mapped to the XI fault message type.
But the problem is I can't get to map the text from the fault message type into any field from the response of the original system.
I've searched the forum and I've seen that this area is surrounded by doubts and questions...
But in the end I'm forced to place the question, why do I need the fault message types? What use can I give them, besides of the cute little thunder on the sxmb_moni?
    Thanks for your attention guys

    Hi Krishna,
I've read the SAP description about Fault Message Types but I'm still struggling on how to use them correctly.
Why do we need them if I can't do nothing with it on the BPM side? After the mapping of the FMT, I'd like to acess it so that I can send a description back to the original system...The thing is, in BPM you can't acess the FMT, you can only create a new BRANCH (on a block step) for it...
I've tried to acess the description text on trace which comes with the message, but it seems that the trace only serves for posting info, and not for getting any...
The Mapping Runtime Constants have some information where you can read some descriptions, but nothing related to the errors....You can read the Receiver service, sender, interface_namespace, but nothing from the ERROR tag...
Is there a way to get the description? Or anything related to the error tag?
    Thanks in advance

  • Concept of Fault Message .

    Hi ,
I need to implement fault in scenarios. and about which i have no idea .. How to capture application as well as system fault . and on anytype of fault i have to raise mail though alert monitoring ....
So kindly help me in the same ..

    PS

    Hi,
You sent the message successfully but you don't get acknowledgement back so at that time server waits for some time to take the response/acknowledgement, if the time exceeds it sends fault message back to sender.
So if receive fault message then some thing fail/problem at receiver side.

  • Fault message in sender SOAP scenario

    Hi mates,
I've a o/b synch MI which is exposed as a web service. I've specified the fault message with faultcode, faultstring, faultactor and detail. I've a BPM as the receiver for this synch infterface. This BPM implements synch-asynch bridge.
Now the question is...How can I specify that a particular fault message needs to be returned to the SOAP caller. I can send the response for the SOAP caller using the send step with mode 'Closes S/A bridge'.
    I appreciate you inputs.
    thx in adv

    Moorthy,
I've the FM in my BPM. But...how can I append this to Response message as these have two different MTs?
Do you mean to say my response message should have a node for fault message data?
I'm trying to implement sth like in this blog <a href="/people/sap.user72/blog/2006/01/16/xi-propagation-of-meaningful-error-information-to-soap-client">Propagation of meaningful error information to SOAP Client</a>
To achieve FM in SOAP scenario, should I be using <b>only</b> a non-BPM receiver like a R/3 system using FM with exception as the receiver? Can this be not possible if I use BPM as receiver?

  • Handling fault messages in an Integration Process (bpm)

I have a bpm in PI 7.11 which performs a synch call to an external webservice. In addition to the request/response, that webservice can also generate two faults: ObjectNotFoundFault and generalfault.  I am having trouble handling these faults - when a fault occurs my handler is not being invoked and thus the bpm process stops/errors. When I look at the underlying process (via txn swi1), I see the exact error text:
"No exception defined for fault message ObjectNotFoundFault http://www.companyb.com/services/olsa_v1_0/"
From what I understand within the bpm synch call step to the webservice I need to do the following to handle the exception/fault:
    - put the synch call (to the webservice) into a block
    - add an exception branch to that block named let's say A & set the exception handler of that block to be A
    - in the exception setting of that synch step, select A
In my case, I don't care about the fault details other than to ensure it does not stop the whole Integration Process, so in my exception branch I don't do anything. I did try adding a control step within it too (as per SAP Press text book).
Is there anything else I need to do here?  I am not mapping the returned fault - does the fault need to be mapped (not sure how I would do this given that the synch step uses an abstract interface and therefore to my knowledge no fault mapping can be done)?
There are 2 Notes that describe my issue exactly:
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1484903
https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1158699 <-- this one refers more to me, but we already have in 7.11
Can anyone let me know exactly the steps I would perform to handle these faults - does the exception name / handler A above need to be named the actual exception / fault ObjectNotFoundFault?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Keith)?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Keith

Thanks - my scenario I guess is #2 of that blog. But is your take that even if I don't care what is in the fault message, i.e. I don't care about the contents of it but rather I just want to continue on from it, that I still need to perform this java coding?  It's not clear to me from what he says - it seems to me he does the java coding to actually capture the contents of the message.  I am in fact using the soap axis adapter too, as he is. The screen shot showing the exception branch is basically what I have.

  • Handling fault messages in BPM

    Hi,
I am using BPM for a RFC to SOAP scenario to handle Fault messages. (Please have a look at my previous post also SOAP Fault message )
I have created an exception block in BPM to catch the fault message from SOAP service. Inside the exception block i need to map the fault message to RFC response. But fault message is not accessible in Exception block.
Let me know if you have any idea to solve this.
    Thanks,
    Uma

    Uma:
Let me make clear the requiremt. You have RFC Import(aka Request message) and Export(aka Response + Exception) and you have Web Service with Request, Response, Fault messages. And you want to send the fault messages back to the RFC in addition to the response. I was wondering, If we do the following mapping without BPM, does that fulfill your requirement.
    RFC-Import <----
    > SOAP Request
    RFC-Export <----
    > SOAP Response
    RFC-Export <----
    > SOAP Fault
Can you let me know if you face any problems with this one. I have seen your other thread and was wondering, whats the problem is. May be I didn't understand the requirement properly. Please clarify me

  • IDoc to SOAP Receiver Fault Message Handling?

    Hi,
I am working on IDoc to SOAP Scenario (IDoc -> PI -> SOAP). It is in async mode without BPM. This works fine as long as there is no error on the SOAP receiver side. How to handle the falut message raised by the SOAP receiver and send it back the SAP ECC.
Do I need to use ALEAUD IDoc for this? If Yes, how to configure this to handle fault message? Is there any other way of doing it?
Could you please give steps to handle the fault message?
    Thank you.

  • ALSB 3 roll back a transaction without sending a fault message

    Hi,
I have a proxy service exposed as a web service, which has some operations that call some tuxedo systems, do some transformation of the data, etc.
When any of it's operations is invoked I have to build an XML reply in both success AND error cases. The difference between both is a response code, if the call to the backend tuxedo system responded with a stream that starts with OK then everything is fine and I build the reply and send it back, but if an error ocurred it will send back an stream that starts with ER followed by an error code, with which I will have to build the SAME XML but using this error code and send it back to the client instead as a "successful" invocation instead of sending a SOAP fault message. Also I need to roll back the whole transaction in that error case. The system works like that and it can't be changed, we are building this proxy service based on a WSDL file given to us by the partner company that invokes our service and there's lots of other clients that do it in the same way. The problem is that I haven't found a way to roll back the transaction without making the proxy service send a fault message that the client system won't understand. The "Raise error" and "Reply with failure" do roll back the transaction but both send a fault message. Is there a way to answer "successfully" to the client but make an explicit rollback?

  • Error handling using fault message type in outbound synchronous ABAP proxy

    Hi,
We've a scenario, outbound synchronous ABAP proxy to synchronous SOAP receiver. The requirement is to send multiple records in a single rquest and get response for all the records sent (in the same response message).
Say if I send 10 records from ECC, I should get 10 records as response from SOAP to ECC. But the problem here is, there could be some invalid requests, for which an invalid error status code should be sent as part of response.
    Source Structure
    Req_Proxy
        req (0..unbounded, string)
    Response Structure
    Resp_SOAP
      Resp (0..Unbounded)
respString (0..1, String) (carries the actaul response message)
status code (0..1, String) (carries the status of the response, for ex, 001 (successful), 002 (error))
And now we are planning to make use of Fault Message Type, to track the errors from SOAP (status code 002). But, we are not sure on how to track this for all the requested records. Is it possible to track the errors for all the requested records in a singe call using fault message type? For eg if 8 records are successful and 2 are invalid, then we should get 10 records in response 8 for valid and 2 for invalid accordingly.
    Please calrify.
    Thanks.
    Rohit

For eg if 8 records are successful and 2 are invalid, then we should get 10 records in response 8
for valid and 2 for invalid accordingly.
Check if you can modify the WSDL structure to include an error node that would get populated incase of invalid entries....this would mean that you get the success and failure details in the single message....also at the proxy-end make the necessary change in your DT.....may be then you do not need to use the fault message...

    Abhishek.

  • Difference in Fault message types & exceptions for Webservice in ABAP

    Hello all,
I am relatively new to the web service framework in SAP. My problem scenario is as follows.
I have a WSDL file of a webservice from 3rd party non-SAP s/w  and I want to replicate the same webservice into SAP by creating FM in SE37 with same imp/exp parameters and functionality.
So I first created a consumer proxy using the external WSDL file of non-SAP webservice. This generated imp/exp DDIC structures in SAP. Now I created a RFC FM in SE37 with similar Imp/exp parameters and relesed this FM as a webservice.  I then created another consumer proxy using WSDL of this newly created webservice in SAP.
In the old consumer proxy I see a structure as SOAPFault as a Fault message type which has 3 fields ERRORCODE, TEXT, DETAILS but in the newly created consumer proxy I don't see Fault message types but i see exceptions which i mentioned in exception tabs while creating the FM. The imp/exp parameters are identical.
So my question is while creating a web service in SAP using a FM in SE37, what needs to be done in order to get the Fault message types getting created automatically when we create a consumer proxy for this webserivice?
Also based on the WSDL of 3rd party system , can i replicate the same web service in SAP ?
Appreciate your expert advice on this.

  • SOAP Adapter - Using Fault Message

    Hi all,
I have developed a Synchronous Integration Scenario which receives a SOAP request to the SOAP adapter, calls an ABAP proxy in SAP ECC to post some information and return a response or a fault to the sender.
This all works fine, I am using a fault message in the ABAP proxy to record errors and return them to the SOAP adapter using the fault mapping. Again this all works fine. However when an application error is identified and a fault message returned to thre SOAP adapter, I had expected that the error details in the fault message to be packaged up in a standard SOAP fault and returned to the sender. Instead the fault message details are sent as the payload in the SOAP body of the response.
Can anyone provide information on if it is possible to return the fault message as a standard SOAP fault instead of in the SOAP body of the response.
    Thanks
    Gary

Dont think this is possible in standard.
As an alternate, maybe you can select option Do not use SOAP Enevlope int he sender SOAP Adapter and thereby the entire SOAP Message will enter the mapping and you would need to use a XSL or Java  mapping to strip the SOAP Envlope in the mapping for the request and like wise in the response mapping you would need to add the SOAP Enevlope to the response.
For the fault message mapping you need not add the SOAP Envelope.
Not a standard solution, but can be tried if the requirement is really worth it. Otherwise I think the Fault Message will continue to be sent as the payload in the the SOAP Enevlope as this is how the SOAP adapter works.

  • Based on fault message ABAP coding required.

    Dear Experts,
I design a scenario with Proxy to JDBC Synchronous interface, in that i kept fault message to catch the technical errors which are throwing by Oracle system like " unique constaint violated,  can't insert value into a particular field ". This type of error messages we can able to get in sxmb_moni of PI system as below shown, but we need the same message in SAP system. For that what we have to do in ABAP as well as PI sides.    Below highlighted error message wants in SAP Screen.

    Hi,
We can easily implement fault message coding in ABAP server proxies, but in case of JDBC not sure you can implement this.
one sulution is write a stored procedure in receiver side and you can have a flexibility to send error message as a response(in vaid exml format).
using standard insert statement/anyother data base operation without stored procedure not posible to capture these kind of errors in to falut messages and sending back to ECC may be not possible.
