FCoE VLAN with OTV or FCIP across WAN.

Hello All,
I am wondering how would we extend a FCoE VLAN/VSAN to remote DC.
Can we use the extended VLAN from OTV and use it for FCoE or FCIP to span the SAN using N5K?
I appreciate if someone let me know what are the options to extend the VSAN/SAN across WAN.

Sorry just to elaborate on the above question. If I already have OTV on nexus 7k that is used to link between 2 remote sites, can we make use of this existing link to support FCoE? Traditionally we used FCIP on MDS, to link between remote sites to extend our VSAN traffics. So can we use FCoE to run between sites connected by OTV. Thanks.

Problems to solve:
VLAN1, VLAN2, VLAN3 cant see eachother;

VLAN2 can print only to Port3= hp network printer2
Port 41,42,43,44 = management ; probably VLAN4 can print to all printers ( printer1, printer2)
All ports can access the internet through router rv042
Port7 ( from VLAN1 ) need to see/communicate with Port15 (vlan2)

You can create separate VLANs with your SRW248G4. The problem is only that if you connect those VLANs to a non VLAN capable router/switch you interconnect everything. You'll loose the separation because to the RV042 all frames from all VLANs look the same. The RV042 cannot distinguish between them.
Again, think of a VLAN on the SRW as a separate unmanaged switch.
VLAN 1 is on one unmanaged switch.
VLAN 2 is on a second unmanaged switch.
So far both switches are physically separated, thus both VLANs are separated. This is what the SRW can do.
Now you connect those two switches to the RV042 LAN ports. The LAN switch on the RV042 is a simple unmanaged switch. Once you have connected those two switches above to the RV042 you have created a connection between both of them.
You have to connect the SRW to a router which can handle VLANs. That router like the RVL has a managed LAN switch which supports VLANs.
AFAIK, the RV016 and RV082 have VLAN support.

Changing VSAN ID and FCoE VLAN ID

Currently our VSAN ID and FCoE VLAN ID are exactly the same, 1. In order to update the firmware on our fabric interconnects, I need to change one or the other with the FCoE VLAN ID being the most likely choice. When our VSAN was created in UCSM, it was created as 1 shared VSAN rather than one VSAN for fabric A and another for fabric B. I was told that if I change the FCoE VLAN ID, it's going to cause a short blip due to the way the VSAN was created. Has this ever happened to anyone and if so, what was your experience? How long of an outage can I expect from this change?

There are misc. aspects that you should consider
- Vlan 1 and Vsan 1 should never be used for any operational purposes (eg. caveats with disjoint vlans)
- Same vlan should be defined in both fabric a and b (nic teaming !)
- vsan's should be different for fabric a and b; a cable connecting fabric a and b will not result in a fabric merge, and therefore a possible disaster
- FCoE vlans for vsan #x are best placed with a high offset + #x
As you said, changing the FCoE vlan is disruptive, link initialization, flogi... have to be done; usually a OS should survive such a short interrupt.
However, changing the Vsan # might also require zoning changes (if you use fc alias which are per vsan; device alias are global, and therefore don't have this problem).
Changing vsan # might also require a modification of the FI FC uplink ports

I have a WAN simulation with one Cisco2811 router one Cisco1841 router (connected with fast Ethernet interface) plus one layer 2 switch.
I upgraded the 2811 IOS to 15.4M and installed CME8.6, when we tried to add 9971 sip phone If the traffic goes throw LAN (Same subnet- directly from switch to 2811) everything is fine and the SIP phone (9971) added with no problem but when I change the subnet and traffic goes throw WAN
( from 1841 routed to 2811 with default route) my phone didn't register.
It will be great if anybody could help!!
If you can solve my problem, I will be happy to compensate.

Try binding SIP to an interface on which Phone can reach (Use "voice service voip" "sip" and then bind)

in this case we don't have enough budget t get WLC device....mybe use the autonomous ap....i use the linksys wireless routes as AP that connect to switch and create the VLANs 10 and VLANs 20 in the switch 2960, the switch connect to router 1841 that will ensure vlan connect each other.

Guest VLAN with SG-200

I'd like to use the SG-200 to create an isolated guest VLAN that cannot access the secure LAN, except of course for the router. This post discusses the necessary ACE's to use with an SG-300, but it's not clear that this level of access control exists on the SG-200. Is it possible to isolate a guest VLAN with the SG-200? My network is a roaming (bridged) network that looks like this:
[Modem] — [AE Router] — [Switch] — [Roaming Wifi]

Thank you very much for the pointers. I found a way to use the router as my VLAN, keeping the SG-200 as a simple switch. This turns out to be the best option because my router doesn't support ACL's or multiple VLANs that would be used for isolating VLANs on my level 2 switch.
This router-based solution involved resolving a simple DNS issue. My router gets DNS from the server, which the router's VLAN guests cannot see. Configuring DNS by hand on guest clients (e.g. Google DNS 8.8.8.8, 4.4.4.4) provides guest internet access, isolated from the LAN, all with roaming. And I'm using one less piece of hardware by using the router's VLAN. Thanks again.

I've got a problem with dynamic vlans. Trying to figure out configuration for the topology similar to the one in the picture.
I’ve got four vlans for PCs, one vlan per department. I have to add fifth vlan (50) for devices that can be connected to any of the three switches: A, B, C. these devices need to be on their own vlan, no matter to which switch they are connected to. On the other hand, PCs connected to any port on those switches should be assigned to appropriate vlan (10,20,30 or 40).
I was thinking about using dynamic vlans with list of mac addresses of devices that need to be on vlan 50 but not sure what to do with PCs. I don’t think I can use fallback vlan as I can set up only one fallback vlan for whole network and not per switch or port.
I cannot use list of mac addresses of all pcs as there’s simply too many of them (my network is way bigger than in the picture, I simplified it only to present the idea). I imagine I would need multiple fallback vlans for different switches.
Has anyone got any idea that could help me please? Maybe there’s some other and easier way?

In new software (for Cisco switches) we provide multiple fallbacks for MAC authentication (MAB):
1. 802.1x
2. web authentication
3. guest vlan (if no supplicant on the PC)
4. auth fail vlan (if radius denies you access)
So you could keep a list of MAC addresses for vlan 50 and do MAB for these devices if MAB fails you can use 802.1x for your PCs.
This will require configuring 802.1x supplicants on all PC (Windows comes preloaded with one) and maintaining a radius of users who are able to log into the network. A lot of people use their Active directory pre-existing database as a backend to store their usernames and passwords for user authentication with dot1x.
With using both dot1x and MAB you can now distinguish easily between two different processes and use your radius server to assign vlans based upon almost anything you can think of.

Hi,I have a sub-report that contains details with 'Format with Multiple Columns' and 'Across then Down' printing option enabled. My problem is when it prints if a column detail has more information than it could fit in the current page towards the end of the page. A page break is done and the remaining column detail is offset to the beginning of next page.for example: col1 col2 col3 X X X X X X If the data in row 2 and col 2 couldn't be fit into the current page this is what I seepage1 col1 col2 col3 X X X X page2 col1 col2 col3 X X can anyone suggest how can I stop this from happening.-Thanks

have a look at the attached report. extract the contents and change the .txt extension to .rpt.
this is not a report that was designed as a Label report, but is a multi-column report. see the section expert for the Details section if you're not familiar with multi-column reports. note in the Layout tab the options used.
also note that there are 3 groups in the report to make this happen. each of the group headers are conditionally suppressed based on the parameter. the groups are 'fake groups' and not based on any database fields. this is also important. the fake group formula is whilereadingrecords; ''

I've been advised by Firefox to download a software update, but upon downloading, the bar with green lines running across it with the message 'Connecting to the update server' is just going on indefinitely; can you advise on this?

Span Tree Vlan with VTP

I have 2 cisco c2950 switches, I have 2 problems:
1- I can't create more than 1001 vlan..(I have configured the both switches with vtp transparent mode).
2- when I issue the command (sh vtp status), I noticed that vlans supported locally 64 & number of existing vlans are 63.
(a)does that means Spantree won't operate after vlan number 64. If so? how would I solve this issue?
(b) what is the possiblity that allows me to assign more than 1001 (Extended vlans) in cisco c2950 series?

Catalyst 2950 switches that run the standard software image (SI) support 64 VLANs; Catalyst 2950 and Catalyst 2955 switches that run the enhanced software image (EI) support 250 VLANs. Refer to the release notes for the list of switches that support each image. VLANs are identified with a number from 1 to 4094 when the EI is installed and 1 to 1005 when the SI is installed. VLAN IDs 1002 through 1005 are reserved for Token Ring and FDDI VLANs. VTP only learns normal-range VLANs, with VLAN IDs 1 to 1005; VLAN IDs greater than 1005 are extended-range VLANs and are not stored in the VLAN database. The switch must be in VTP transparent mode when you create VLAN IDs from 1006 to 4094.

I have this network:
- 01 AP 1231
- ACS v4.0
I try to config dynamic VLAN with LEAP.
SSID is WLAN map with vlan 1
Without attribute 64,65,81, I connect this WLAN ok and users alway is connected to vlan 1.
When I use attribute 64,65,81 and use
attribute 64 is vlan, attribute 65 is 802
user test1 has attribute 81 is 1
user test2 has attribute 81 is 2,
test1 connect WLAN successful (map to vlan 1) but test 2 can't authenticate successful with ACS Server.
