FCS Locks up on remote machines....
I just wanted to check and see if anyone else had the issue of Final Cut Server locking up on remote machines? It launches....searches for about 7 seconds and then...locks up. Its just started a few months ago and it is driving me crazy. Is it just me?
Hi there,
I had a similar issue. First my FCSrv client didn`t list assets and a spinning wheel that kept spinning.
Then after some trial it stopped even from entering in the WorkPlace. It hang on the splash screen:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1875158
I`ve asked here but unfortunately no one answered.
To "solve" this I had to re-install (a fresh) FCSrv.
Before you try that:
I really don`t remember but there`s a script inside /Library/Application\ Support/Final\ Cut\ Server/Final\ Cut\ Server.bundle with the name "dump" or "clean" that I had solved other issues.
I think that you could try to look at this before re-installing.
Good Luck!

Unable to connect to WMI (r) on remote machine "SCCMCLIENT03"
Hi!
I'm in the process of configuring the XP firewall to support the Client Push installation method that SCCM offers. At the moment I'm quite happy with the result. The SCCM client agents are installed properly on my reference machines.
To secure that the WMI functionality is up and running I have (prior to the client agent installation) run wbemtest with following parameter (from server to client, and vice versa):
\\host\root\cimv2
I successfully contacted that specific namespace on both ends. But when I trace the log I find the following error which still indicates that something is wrong:
CWmi::Connect(): ConnectServer(Namespace) failed. - 0x8004100e SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER 2009-03-10 11:12:14 1704 (0x06A8)
---> Unable to connect to WMI (r) on remote machine "SCCMCLIENT03", error = 0x8004100e. SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER 2009-03-10 11:12:14 1704 (0x06A8)
Why do I get this? What am I missing here? I got the feeling of WMI functioning the way it should.
Any hints on this one?
In an MSDN-article (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa389286(VS.85).aspx) I read the following lines:
"If the user account that is on Computer A is not an administrator on Computer B, but the user account has Remote Enable permission on Computer B"
Those lines are part of an article which describes how to configure Remote administrations properly. For that to work, does the computer account of my Central Site Server has to be part of the local administrators group on every client?
Regards,
Fredrik

IBM DB2 9.7 Express-C instalation on remote machine
Hi guys,
I'm trying to install IBM DB2 9.7 Express-C on a remote machine that does not have xorg installed.
I've managed to enable forwarding X over ssh (tested on xeyes), but when i start db2setup, it doesn't do anything.
Output in console is this:
user@remotemachine$ ./db2setup
DBI1190I db2setup is preparing the DB2 Setup wizard which will guide
you through the program setup process. Please wait.
DBI1160I Non-root install is being performed.
If i login with root then the output is basically same:
user@remotemachine$./db2setup
DBI1190I db2setup is preparing the DB2 Setup wizard which will guide
you through the program setup process. Please wait.
I'm running latest arch with xfce4 with slim for starting DE.
Can anybody give me some poiners on how to install this?spendzo wrote:Can anyone comment if this is ok...?

Using remote machines for report generation
Since LabView does not have cross-platform openoffice support, I was looking at ways of generating reports from a LabView session (2010) running on a mac. The report generation VI contains a somewhat suggestive machine name input. Can one connect to a remote machine (which is windows XP and has microsoft word / excel installed) to generate reports from a mac running LabView ?

With some work I think is is do-able.
If the PC had an exe deployed and running that was served via VI Server the report could be run and generated on the PC when invoked from the Mac.
So in theory yes!
Edit:
VI server is not required if the exe on the PC listens at a TCP/IP port and supports a protocol to accept the report "job".
I'll watch to see (and in hopes of) a better solution form others.

How to read file from remote machine
Hello,
Hi, i would like to know how to read text file from remote machine using java source code, any code ?
Thanks very much;
Best regards
KimOn the server, perform the following steps:
Parse the request and determine the file to serve
Open a FileInputStream to the appropriate file
Obtain a reference to the Servlet OutputStream
Pipe the bytes from the file to the output stream
Flush and close the streamYou might want to call HttpServletResponse.setContentType("application/octet") to indicate to the browser that a file download will be occurring. Do so before getting the reference to the Servlet's OutputStream.

Hi,
For this topic you should have a look ( 2004-07-08 The Java Specialists' Newsletter [Issue 091] )
from Dr. Heinz Kabutz. Indeed, the newsletter is quite useful and sometimes also amazing.
I really enjoy reading it.
In this newsletter he is exactly doing what you wanted to know.
He uses an ObjectOutputStream, but compresses the screenshot beforehand as follows:
import com.sun.image.codec.jpeg.*;
Toolkit defaultToolkit = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit();
Rectangle shotArea = new Rectangle(
defaultToolkit.getScreenSize());
ByteArrayOutputStream bout = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
JPEGImageEncoder encoder = JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(bout);
encoder.encode(robot.createScreenCapture(shotArea));
return bout.toByteArray();Hope that helps -
Any suggestions?
However, I can use scp to copy files out from my iMac (10.6.8) .
I can ssh into the iMac OK.
I created a .profile in my iMac home directory with the single line "export TERM=xterm-color".
This makes a difference to how scp behaves when attempting to copy into the iMac, but it still fails.
Thanks in advance for any help. Peter R
Here is the scp debug output (on the remote machine that I'm copying a file from, to the iMac):

Can I enable the root user account from the log in screen when I am locked out of the machine?
Hello everyone,
I am working on my friends mac to get it ready to sell. I went into the advanced options of the user and changed the name of the account. That's all I changed. I did read the warning that said if anything was changed it could cause damage, that's why I only changed the name of the user account. I didn't want to mess with anything else. Well, needless to say, I am locked out of the machine. Apparently the root user, system administrator, account was not enabled and I am stuck at the screen that I can get to with my installation disc. So how can I enable the root user account and get back onto the machine from the screen I am at? Can I enable the root user from terminal? I spent a good 8 hours yesterday researching this topic and have come up empty. Changing passwords from commands in terminal is not the problem. I am given just one account to choose from to log on and it's not accepting the password because of the changes I made in the advanced options menu.
Is there any hope of getting this thing going again? Or have I just screwed myself over?
Thanks for your help!
LeahYou can reset the password.

Do you need to recover data from it before you sell it? If not you can just wipe the disk and prepare it for sale.

Creating a directory on a remote machine using a UNC path
Hi all,
Is it possible to create a directory on a remote machine using a UNC path such as \\Server\Share\Directory?
If so, how would i go about this? (Sorry for the newbie question, that's exactly what I am!)
Thanks,
RobThe tables on your pages are images. Not very convenient if the visitor wants to copy the information and use it.
Read this how to use tables :

And here's a non-iWeb page with a sortable table :

Or use a database on the server with MySQL and make tables with PHP :

Here's a very simple way to do it :

Not able to access database from a remote machine using SQL Server Management Studio
Hi,
I have a DB_BOX with SQL Server 2008 R2 installed. I can access the databases on the local machine using SQL Server Management Studio but it is not accessible from other machines, though the machines are in same domain.
I have remote enabled on SQL Server box, TCP enabled, firewall off. I checked with IP Address too, all SQL Server services are running.
The SQL Server log shows the message
The requested service has been stopped or disabled and is unavailable at this time. The connection has been closed.
I get the below message in SSMS from remote machine.
Details of error message are

RVIs this music purchased back in DRM days? I don't actually have any iTunes music so I can't test with my iTunes 7.5, but I know that without iTunes 10 you cannot even connect to the store anymore. I wouldn't think that would require an active connection to the store all the time, otherwise how could you play music on a computer in the middle of nowhere? Did you do something to trigger iTunes suddenly wanting to connect and check on machine authorization?

Any pointers would be very helpful.I think your problem is here: Caused By: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: allocLargeObjectOrArray: [Ljava/lang/Object;, size 782611408
And is probably related to this: http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/openjpa-dev/201006.mbox/%3C26423199.85161276545675046.JavaMail.jira@thor%3E
the comment in here is saying: Make the CacheMarshallerImpl a bit more tolerant to different configurations.
Could be the out of memory error you getting is related to your openjpa configuration, not sure here -

InitialContext initial = new InitialContext(prop);
Object objref = initial.lookup("TimeReport/Data/TestHome");
TestHome home = (TestHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(objref,TestHome.class);
System.out.println("looking up IDFactory Session Bean");
Test TestRemote = home.create();
System.out.println("IDFactory Created ");
long roleID = TestRemote.getID("TR_ROLE","Role_ID");
System.out.println("RoleID is " + roleID);
TestRemote.remove();
} catch (Exception ex)
System.err.println("Caught an unexpected exception!" + ex.getMessage());
