.fdf from server and .pdf as flex resource

I'm building an internal app, so I'm not concerned about initial size. Once developed it should be cached on the local box.
I have to generate various 30 page PDF's that are already defined. I can populate them on the server using a tool like pdftk and then download them to my flex app just like any PDF.
I would like to only download the .fdf file and have the .pdf file as a resource internal to my flex 4 app. The purpose is to conserve bandwidth when the app is running at remote facilities.
It seems like the .fdf has an internal pointer to the .pdf, but I cannot seem to get it to work. I'm guessing that the path is relevant to the directory that contains my .swf.
Has anyone done this or can point me in the right direction???

FWIW I gave up on the idea. Using the fdf to launch the PDF has a major weakness (for my needs) in that it still allows the user to edit the form. I just want them to be able to print it. Perhaps I could defiene it as not editable, but I've got it working where I merge the two data streams on the backend and return the PDf as the response.

Mail not getting all messages from server and other strange behavior

Hello All,
Mail has been doing some odd things for me of late (at least the last week) and I'm lost for a solution to my problem. As far as I can tell, perhaps my Prefs. have become corrupted, or at least something in relation to Mail has become corrupted. Perhaps someone has a solution to this issue before I have to back it all up and NUKE the whole **** app to get back up and running properly.
The main issue I appear to be having is that Mail is not getting all of my Mail messages from my server. I can log into my web-mail interface provided by my domain host and can see there that there are many e-mails that don't appear to be coming down the pipe to the Mail.app client. I'm getting some e-mail's but not all....
*Here are all the things that I've checked:*
• The missing e-mails are not being picked up as Junk and are not in the Junk folder
• I have done a search within Mail for the missing e-mail's and nothing turns up anywhere.
• I have checked on the server end that I'm not maxing out my InBox or that there are any other service issues from my domain host provider.
• I have been into Prefs and checked my account settings - most (see below) of which appear to be as normal and are fine.
*Here are the weird things that I've noticed:*
• When I went into the Prefs. for the account in question, I noticed that my login had changed. For example - it usually it is "[email protected]", however it had seemed to have changed to just "johndoe" - I know this wasn't me as my domain host will not allow me to access any mail unless the login is the full mail address.
• In RULES, every rule I double click to check on seems mostly fine, apart from the fact that every "Account is:" the pull down menu just appears as blank. Usually it says "Account is: ([email protected])"
It's there last 2 items that make me think something is corrupted - so I guess my question is, what pref or file has corrupted and how can I fix it without having to give Mail.app a digital enema?
Any assistance would be most helpful - missing some but not all your incoming e-mail messages is quite annoying, as you can guess...!

Hello Boz.
This appears to be a rules issue. Mail is almost certainly downloading those messages, but they’re probably being processed by your rules in an unexpected way — given the information you’ve provided, maybe because there is something wrong with the file where the account settings are stored.
Do you have any Mail plug-ins? In the Finder, go to each of the following folders (if they exist). What do you see there?
/Library/InputManagers/
/Library/Mail/Bundles/
~/Library/InputManagers/
~/Library/Mail/Bundles/
To make accurately reporting this information easier, you may open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, type the following command (you can just copy it here and paste it in Terminal), and press <Return>. You can then copy the output of that command from Terminal and paste it in your reply to this post:

After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, and ensuring that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
1. Write down your Mail > Preferences > Accounts settings or take screen shots of them.
2. If you have a .Mac account and .Mac synchronization of Mail data is enabled either in Mail > Preferences > General or in System Preferences > .Mac, disable it before proceeding.
3. Quit Mail.
4. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong while trying to solve the problem. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the Mail folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
5. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted if this solves the problem). If you have a backup of your data that includes a working copy of this file, you may try restoring it from the backup to avoid steps 6-8.
6. Open Mail. You’ll have to set up your non-.Mac accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in ~/Library/Mail/ when done.
7. You’ll have to re-configure some of your Mail > Preferences settings. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
8. As a side effect of re-creating com.apple.mail.plist, Mail might rename Outbox (which is where messages waiting to be sent are stored) to Delivered. The name of that mailbox is actually a misnomer, as it would contain messages (if any) that couldn’t be delivered for some reason. You can delete that mailbox if you wish.
9. If the problem is fixed now and .Mac synchronization of Mail data was enabled at the beginning, enable it again, go to System Preferences > .Mac > Advanced, click Reset Sync Data, and choose the appropriate options to reset the Mail data stored on the .Mac server with the data locally stored on the computer, i.e. sync data must flow from the computer to the .Mac server.

Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

Read from server and display in external frame

Hello everyone,
I am using Eclipse, My project consist of server and client connected through a socket. When I connect to the server, i am getting lots of data from the server and it takes a bit of time, so I was thinking while the user wait for the data, i will pop up a frame with a text area displaying the data that the client is recieving at the moment.
Basiclly, instead of just displaying the data recieved in the console (readline) i would like to display it in an external frame.
something like this:

if you not receive HTML-pages or HTML-formatted text, i suggest to use JTextPane instead of JEditorPane, as formatting color and font seems to be a little bit easier to do.
Next, i recommend to define a litte interface, ..

I have a application that downloads the mails from the mail server and then write them to the DB.
I am using folder.getMessage method to get the mails from server.
is there a way using which I can have a function that acts as a pipe between my server and DB and write the mails without consuming the memory.
(may be something to do with getInputByteStream/getOutputByteStream or getInputStream and setBinaryStream 'preparedStatement interface ')

Ordered book from Blurb and pdf version. Pdf version won't open properly in Digital Editions 2.

My pdf version of a book I ordered from Blurb tries to open in digital editions 2 but only shows me random pages. It cannot "read" the book page by page. Any suggestions?

I'm trying to remove the background from pictures and PDFs.

Hello All, this is the 3rd or 20th time I've tried removing backgrounds. I install water equipment for a living and try to manage my website on my own. Each time my products change, my suppliers send me literature in PDF format. Sometimes I'm installing the equipment before I have the literature. I take pictures of every install I perform and would love to use my pictures without the dirty basement in the background.
I've spent hours trying to work with just one picture. All that fine detail, erasing, and zooming in and out, then click! I lose it, or can't save it, or it just doesn't work. I've watched tutorials, and watched it done right in front of me (on a PC) at my print shop. I thought I'd ask this community, because I've had 100% luck on here everytime.
So, can I use the same software to remove images from PDFs and backgrounds from pictures? Which do you recommend? I have Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Adobe ImageReady CS2. I also have Gimp that I downloaded for Mac. Since I've never been successful with any of them, I'm not sure which one is wasting my time.

Extracting images and removing backgrounds can be very complicated. There are many different techniques and methods for doing it: the trick is finding the right one for the image you're working on. Every image is different and what may work for one may not work for another. You can do all of the basic techniques in Photoshop CS2, though it's a little easier in newer versions. I'd recommend going through as many online tutorials on image extraction as you can tolerate. There are hundreds of them. (While I find him annoying to listen to, Russell Brown has made some excellent tutorials on the subject. Try this one to start.
While it is possible to edit an image embedded in a PDF, you really need Acrobat Pro to do it. Acrobat sends the image to Photoshop, where it can be edited, and then Photoshop sends it back to Acrobat after you're done. Or you can save it as a separate file. In the 20+ years I've used Adobe's stuff, I've never done that. It's usually much easier to do a screen capture of the image and then work on that copy. (There are some sizing and magnification issues involved with this, however.)
In Photoshop, pay particular attention to Quick Mask mode, learn how masking works, how to make a selection based on a color range, how to use the Pen Tool to make a path that can be used as a selection, and how to save and load selections. Getting a clean extraction takes a lot of practice and it's almost never quick or easy, but it's worth the effort to learn how to do it well.

Quicktime Update Error: Invalid information from server and network administrator error?

I'm contantly getting a pop-up saying that I need to update my Quick Time software. So, I click "Do it now", and get a message saying that the informaion recieved from the Quick Time server is invalid.
Other times, I get a message saying: "Your Network Aministrator has disabled your ability to change the system directory," and asks me to update with a different user. However, I AM the administartor on my computer...so what is going on?
Please help, since this message keeps popping up whenever I try any application that uses Quick Time, like iTunes, or even this website.

Loading .JPG`s from Server and Reusing them in .SWF

Hi everyone!
Suppose I want to load a .jpg from the server ONCE and then I want to reuse it a dozen times in my .swf...
How can I achieve this without adding to the .swf`s file size? I was thinking copying its BitmapData a dozen times, but that adds to the file size, right?

Deleting email messages from server and device

I had to wipe my 8830 due to a major sync problem but I no longer have the option to delete from the server when I delete email messages. I checked the user's guide and throughout my device. Where do I find this setting please?

From your MESSAGES folder > Menu > Options > Email Reconciliation > Message Services.
If those settings are not present on your device... you probably have some Service Book problems (as in not present or corrupt).
Do this: First, look at Options > Advanced > Servcie Books and delete ALL service books releated to any email account.
Then, with the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot
Then do this:
1. Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table > Menu > Register.
2. Resend your service books from your carrier BIS site.

You're right it has to be returned in lower-case letters. I had a similar problem and went to mycgiserver.com and set up the page there the correct mime type is returned and it works

If I undestand correct, the unload() is unsuported yet, so it just hangs in the memory
In the tests I did, when I put two loads for the same swf, the app freezes, so I don´t know what you can do there.
For the "code", you just need to put the LoaderContext on the loads, something like this:

"Delete messages from server" Mail iPhone 5

Hi, I am trying to locate "delete messages from server" option in Mail Settings on iPhone 5 and can't find it. In iPhone 4 it was just in the Advanced settings but it is not there in iPhone 5. Help please? Thanks

Not sure who your email provider is. Mine is hotmail. When you set up email with hotmail on an iPhone 4 the delete from server never is available. I just got an iPhone 5, i reset up my hot mail account and can't find that setting either. I set it up by using the hotmail button not "other" so meaning delete your hotmail account from your phone. Then re set it up. But when you do add email account, don't use the button that says hotmail. Use the bottom choice that says "other". I have no idea why this is different but if you do this it will set up hotmail just the same. But now that setting is there. The "delete from server" and you set it to "never". Now when you delete the emails from your hot mail account on the iPhone, it leaves that email on the hotmail server. So when you look at email on the computer it's there still. It's good this way if you share email with someone.
