FEATURE REQUEST:  Preference to "Open Last Document" on launch

Maybe nobody will hear this - and no action will be taken - but I had to chime in and say, could we PLEASE have the Pages app offer the option to "OPEN LAST DOCUMENT ON LAUNCH"?
Thanks!

I just bought a new macbook pro and my CS6 migrated, but now when I open existing documents, it launches a free trial version. There doesn't appear to be a way to enter my serial number or communicate that I simply have a new computer. HELP! There is no customer support for this. I can't believe what a poor service company Adobe is!!

The problem was that you migrated CS6. Unfortunately, migration doesn't work because it doesn't move all the files.
First, you'll need to use the Adobe Cleaner Tool to remove the components that were installed:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Second, you should install a clean copy of CS6. Here is a link:

  • Feature Request: Reopen PDF at last open page

    1...........................
At work, I often have to deal with PDF files (of several hundred pages each) and have to keep shifting from one PDF to another. If I leave a PDF file on page 372, open another file, and return to the first file, I am sent to page 1. Why on Earth do I have to find my position in the PDF file manually each time I return to the PDF?
Please make Adobe Reader remember our last view settings (page position and Continuous/SinglePage mode) for every file. Please consider this as an urgent feature request, which I believe shouldn't take too long to provide, considering that this feature has been available on the desktop versions for ages.
And could you please give us an estimate of when this feature might be included?
    2.........................
In addition to the current List View of documents, a thumbnail view would be a huge bonus, specially when trying to pinpoint a particular file from a series of similarly named files (eg. 01.pdf, 02.pdf, 03.pdf....).

I too would absolutely love to have this feature! Our views match perfectly!! I too have to deal with many files which often have 300-400 pages and then finding my way back in them can get really tedious.
You can try iBooks if you want as it does have this feature, but I personally prefer the continuous Reading mode that this Adobe Reader app offers! Plus this app is really fast in opening and scrolling through those huge PDFs I have to deal with all the time.
I hope someone is reading this! (you posted in December and still no reply!!!)

  • Pages always open last document

After installing Lion, Pages always open with the last document I worked on.
I've been to System Preference / General and unchecked the box about this new feature.
But Pages still does it. And only Pages. Not Keynote, not Numbers.
I seriously don't know what to do about this.
I don't even have a Save Application State folder in the Library.
    Someone?

    Hello
May you edit your signature ?
It's often useful to know the system in use to answer questions.
Your signature claims OS X 10.6.6 but it appears that you run Lion.

  • Preference to open multiple sites on launch?

Is there a way to do this (either directly or in some clever roundabout fashion)?
Here's what I'd like to have happen every time I launch the Safari app:
In addition to opening a new window with the Home Page I've selected in the General Prefs tab
(http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html, the Astronomy Picture of the Day -- a very cool site for anyone who wants to check it out), I'd ALSO like to have a second window open, containing tabs for things like my Facebook home page, my Twitter home page, etc.
I don't actually use those "social" sites very much -- and one of the reasons why is I tend not to have them open unless I get an e-mail notification which prompts me to check something out on one of them. It would just be a convenience to have the option of Safari opening them automatically every time I open Safari (after which I can of course always close those pages but still leave the browser open if I so choose).
But the overall question remains: is there some way to have Safari always open a user-defined combination of URLs in a user-defined configuration of windows and/or tabs, whenever you launch the application? (Or is it Safari 4 Feature Request time?)
    Thanks,

Thanks -- not sure how I missed that thread in my search.
I'll continue this thread, with a quote from the one you referenced:
    John Guo wrote:
Open those 4 websites in different tabs. Save them as one bookmark by going to Bookmarks>Add Bookmarks for These 4 Tabs.... Go to Safari>Preferences. Click on "New tab opens with:" and select Choose tabs folder. Click Choose and you're set.
    Two problems:
    1) I've done the first part of this scenario (creating a Bookmark which includes multiple tabs), but after looking through all the Safari Prefs windows, I'm just not seeing a "New tab opens with:" option. In the General window there's a "New windows open with:" option, which as I said above I've set to a particular "home page", and I don't want that to change.
    2) Assuming I could find this alleged "New tab opens with:" option (am using Safari 3.2.1, if that's relevant), the last part of John Guo's thread seems to imply that under his scenario I would now get this multiple tab window combo every time I clicked Cmd-T to open a new tab, which I definitely don't want. (I only want this window, with its particular group of pre-determined tabs, to open when I launch Safari, not every time I open a new window and/or tab while using the program.)
Sorry for the confusion, but if anyone can help me better understand the last part of the workflow quoted above, and what its final result would be, I'd be hugely grateful.

  • Open last Doc on Launch.

Is there a way for Pages to open the most recent document when you launch it? I know that apps like Soundtrack Pro can, is it possible in Pages.
PS I have already checked the pref window, and the drop-down menus.

    Hi wathieme,
    Welcome to Pages discussions.
"No", not that I'm aware of. After Pages opens click File > Open Recent, the last document you opened will be on the top of that list.
    Cordially,

  • Safari 3 Beta - Windows  - Feature Request - Middle-click open in new tab

I'm checking out the new beta... I have a quick suggestion for a feature.
One thing I've noticed is that there is no option for middle-click to open a link in a new tab. I love this option in Mozilla and IE7, please implement it in Safari!
    Thanks!

I can Middle click on any link, any bookmark an have it open in a new tab.
(in the background). Or make the new tab current. Just go to the preferences & fingle around. I can also left or middle click a tab to close it. It must be your settings. You can also rearrange tabs by dragging them. Create new windows
by dragging the tabs off the bar. Merge all windows by going to the Windows pull down menu. i cant really test if this works on a PC because i sold my last rig (PC) for pennies. another feature i like is (private browsing)
    KoolVicious
    p.s.
Bill did this to me! My PC hated Netscape, & could only play audio from one
program at a time. My PC kept driving into a wall, but i wasn't afraid i just
    got up & walked away.

When I start word I get a ton of documents popping up how can I stop this? I looked it up but I guess I have a newer version of word. here are my option when I go to preference>General

  • Feature Request:  Setting to NOT check mail on launch

Using the Mail on the iPhone virtually locks up the device until it is done checking mail. In Settings, you can set Mail to check Manually. However, every time I launch the Mail application, it checks mail automatically.
I'd like to request a setting for the Mail application to NOT to check for new mail upon launch, making it truly manual only.
If this were done, I would use the iPhone for email more regularly. For example, if I need to send a quick email, I have to wait until Mail checks for new emails before it will allow me to type a new email. This can take several minutes.
    Thanks for listening.

  • Different behaviour between IE6 and IE on opening Office documents via KM

    Hi all,
we're in the process of rolling out Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) and noticed something unexpected when opening non-html documents from a KM navigation iview. When clicking on the links in the ivew the documents are all opened in a new window because the hyperlink / href contains "target=_blank". When the document itself is for instance an Excel document, the browser will ask wether you want to open the document or not. When you choose to open the document, Excel launches and the blank IE6 window is closed in the background. When the user is done with the document he or she will return to the portal screen.
This nice behaviour does not occur with IE7. The blank window remains open so when the user closes the Office document they are looking at an empty IE7 screen.
Is there any way to fix this by customization or even by code change? It seems to me that this is more a SAP issue because for all HTML pages and for all documents that have IE plugins such as PDF'syou want to open a new window but for the others you want only the application to be lauched, not an empty IE.

I found the solution on another site, superuser.com, so I can't claim the solution as my own, but it worked for me. Kent Ng says:
I face the similar issue with Excel 2003. If you have installed Skype-Click-to-Call, just removed it to resolve this issue.

  • Feature Request: reopen each PDF at the last open page

I love many things about Reader for Android, but I read many books at the same time, so for me it is missing one crucial feature: please enhance Reader to reopen each PDF at the last open page.  Currently if I switch from one PDF to another, when I return to the first, it forgets what page I was on, so there's no way to use Reader for my real reading of PDF books.
Everything else about Reader is fantastic,  so I really hope you can make this improvement.
      Thanks
      Jim

Thanks Jim , for appreciating Adobe Reader and  for the feature request on remembering last opened page for a pdf . It is one of the top few priorities for us. We would try to include this at earliest in  our next major update.
    Thanks again.

  • Why do applications always open the last document or page viewed?

I love my Mac.  But since I got my new iMac and OS Lion, I've had a hard time with one option and I can't figure out how to turn it off.
When I open Excel, it opens the last document viewed.  Even when I click on a new document, it still opens the last document.  When I open Safari, it takes me to the last page viewed.  Its very annoying, probably useful to someone other then me. How do I turn this feature off?
    Thanks
    Jim

That is part of Resume, a feature that re-opens the documents that were open when you quit.
You can turn it off system-wide in the General System Preferences.
On a per-app basis, you can only use the cmd-option-q shortcut or menu to close all windows and quit.

  • Applications Opening Last-opened Document

Is there any way in Lion to NOT automatically open up the previously-opened document when launching an app?
Like, if I open Pages, I see the previous thing I worked on when I closed the app last.
If I launch the Previewer, the previous thing I was looking at opens along WITH the thing I'm opening currently.
    Very annoying.

Thanks, but that's an odd feature.
There's no way to globally turn this off?

pages is not letting me open my documents I made last week. I get a message that I need to update my software. I am up to date.
    What to do?

It sounds like you have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.
