  • Restrict access to specific network devices

Is there a way through ACS to limit user logons to only specific devices? I know through NAR, I can restrict the source address, but how can I restrict the destination?
    Thanks

    I'm having the same problem.
The ACS in NAR is mandatory to use a AAA Client plus the client and I would like to limit only by the AAA client.
It means, the ACS uses the attributes
    Calling-station-ID (Final client)
    Called-station-ID (Network Access Server NAS)
I would like to limit only based on Called station.
If you get somehow to solve it please post here.
    Thanks

  • Is there any way to bind CoreMidi to a specific network device?

Currently, I have my iMac connected via ethernet to a wireless bridge (to get to the rest of the LAN).
I want to use some iPad/iPhone apps which use networked CoreMidi.
So, I enable AirPort, set up an ad hoc network on the Mac (via Create Network in the Airport menu).  When I try to set up a networked MIDI controller, I can never connect.  If I reboot without the ethernet cable connected, everything works fine.
I'd like to be able to run both at the same time, so is there any way to force CoreMidi to bind to the Airport rather than ethernet?

The songs from the Sony MP3 player need to be imported into your iTunes library first before they can be synced or added to your iPod Classic.
Regarding the songs that didn't import into iTunes, what format are they in and what seems to be different from them compared with the tracks that did import?

  • HP Network Devices Support service will not start

Product: HP Photosmart Premium All-in-one (C309g)
    OS: Vista Business 32 bit
    Errors:
When running the "Add Device" portion of set up to add the printer to my PC so it can be accessed wirelessly this pops up in the back ground: "The specified service does not exist as an installed service."
The result of the above process is the following message in the HP installer screen: "The HP software that enables networking is not responding. Cancel the installation and restart the PC."
As you may guess, I've had this printer for a while couple/few years at least, and I've been running it wireleslly for quite some time.
The printer is active on my wireless network, printing Wireless Network Test Report from the printer proves this. I can also access the printer's webpage by entering its IP in a web browser.
We first perceived the issue when HP Solution Center reported that the Printer was no longer connected. And it suggested doing something with the install, which sent me down the road of unintalls and installs.
I've run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which tells me the printer is installed for use via USB, but the networked instance is not installed.
I still have the orginal instal CD for this printer. Running setup off the root of the CD, i get the "Later Version already installed" or something to that extent.  I've also downloaded the most recent Basic and Full Feature Instals from HP site.
I've used Revo Uninstaller to do my uninstalls and I've run CCleaner after all the apps are gone from the program list.
I've read somewhere that this is related to the "HP Network Devices Support" service.
In computer management I can see that its not running, and it is set to start "Automatically (Delayed Start)"
When I try to start this service I get this: "Windows could not start the HP Network Devices Support service on local computer Error 2: They system could not find the file specified"
Somethings that have been done on this machine recently, i'm not sure when the Printer problem started...
    Installed Quicken 2013
    Installed iTunes
Changed my home network from Public to private on this machine so I could set up some media servers.
I've check through all the quarantined files of my antivirus and there didn't seem to be any HP files in there.
I'm  hoping my issue is in fact this service, and somehow replacing the missing file its refferencing will fix it all.
My next step is to uninstall everything again, and make sure that service drops out of the list too, then reinstall from HP download.
    This question was solved.

I would suggest using the software scrubber built into the install to clean everything out. The steps below will walk you through it.  Before doing step 10 from a CD or step 15 from a download, check the both program files folder to make sure that the HP folders get deleted.
    From original printer installation CD:
    1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer
    2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open
    3. Open folder Util
    4. Open folder CCC
    5. Run the uninstall_ L4.bat for non-HP computers.  For HP computers run the Uninstall_L3.bat
    6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
    7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
    8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

    9. Use this tool to clean the registry.  Note: This utility is not HP sponsored or approved.  HP and I are not responsible for damages or loss of data caused by the utility.  This step is optional.   You can skip it if you want.

    4. Click the start menu.
    5. Click Run.
    6. Type %temp% in the run field
    7. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
    8. Open folder Util
    9. Open folder CCC
    10. Run the uninstall_ L4.bat for non-HP computers.  For HP computers run the Uninstall_L3.bat

  • Using a specific network interface

Hello, I would like to know how I can force Mac OS X to use a specific network interface while connecting to my mac mini (from the iMac):
I'm connected to the internet (I mean the local network) using the airport, and I connected my iMac with the mac mini using an ethernet cable (because I want to transfer files faster, and I don't want to reboot my mini in target disk mode), but when I connect to the mini (using the "share" feature) it seems to use the airport connection. Of course I could disable the airport interface to force it to use the ethernet one (and it works) but I don't want to...
So, how can I force a specific interface? I don't mind using a command line command to mount it initially btw.
    Thanks

    Hello,
Try using a different IP address range to put each interface in a different subnet. For example use 10.0.0.x and 255.255.255.0 for the Ethernet connection and 192.18.2.x and 255.255.255.0 for the Airport.

  • Go Online on specific network using command line

i have a remote troubleshooting software that i wrote myself i have added to it the list of all my clients which can have one of the below:public ipsteamviewer accountslogmein hamachiof course, i'm a paid hamachi client, and i have the latest hamachi version installed whenever i want to troubleshoot any client, i just right click on their name, and select remote desktop.. and the my software will automatically connect to the client using the required authentication/application. when the client has hamachi, his network has to be online, for me to be able to access his ip. so what i'm currently doing is: open hamachi, scroll to my client's network, right click, go online, and then back to my software and troubleshoot! (this is a bit time consuming compared to the other solutions) is there any way, i can go online on a specific network in my local hamachi installation? it would be really a great feature, if we can use a command line script, or use command line arguments to launch special events (locally)example:hamachi.exe /online:mynetworkidhamachi.exe /offline:mynetworkid i appreciate any feedback on this, regards,Dan

Yes, It would be very interesting to have such a feature.E.g., I need to programmatically request Hamachi to GoOnline, because it often goes offline in some circumstances (after computer wakes from sleep mode for example).

  • Mount filesystems (NFS & SSHFS) on specific network comming up

    Hi,
I'd like to mount some NFS and SSHFS shares when a specific network/interface has a connection. How can I do this?
Thanks for your help in advance.

The problem was how the exports were configured from the Synology box. I tried to specify access for my whole subnet using 192.168.1.* as the host specification. A more thorough reading of the /etc/exports man page statement on wildcards notes the following: "Wildcards should not be used with IP addresses; however, it is possible for them to work accidentally if reverse DNS lookups fail." In my case, my servers had DNS (and therefore presumable revers DNS) entries, and therefore mounts failed. My clients (largely laptops) get a DHCP address from my router, and don't have DNS entries in my domain. Therefore, the mounts "worked accidentally" from my clients, and not from my servers.
I'm now adding "works accidentally" to my lexicon of strange & wonderous software development feature terms, along with "bug-like feature". Now that I've calmed down enough from the lost week of spare time, I should be able to submit an RFE to Synology without using any profanity. Had I entered the offending wildcards by hand-editing the exports, I'd hold myself entirely responsible. Since I did this with the Synology UI, it seems reasonable to expect that I'd at least see a warning that my host spec was potentially not going to achieve the intended results.

  • Set applications to use specific networks

i am setting up my networking on a mac pro4,1 (intel) and i have attached too two separate ethernet networks, both are working fine. one is my work server (thru switch to t3) and the other is an inhouse dsl. i want to route traffic from specific applications to specific networks: (i.e. 'firefox' to inhouse and 'entourage' to work server). i have set up the networking with different 'location' configurations so i can change which i use but i want it to work on the fly. how is this done?

You can't (normally) get there from here.
What you're trying to do is affect the routing (route certain traffic through a specific interface). The issue is that routing works at the IP level, not the application level. This means that you can tell the system to route a.b.c.d (e.g. the address of the IM server you're connecting to) through a speciic router at w.x.y.z (e.g. the AirPort).
In order to do this, though, you need to have different IP address/subnet masks on each interface.
For example, assuming your wired ethernet is using 192.168.1.2/255.255.255.0 and your wired ethernet router is at 192.168.1.1, and your AirPort interface is using 10.1.1.2 with the AirPort router at 10.1.1.1 you can run the command:
    <pre class=command>sudo route add a.b.c.d 10.1.1.1</pre>
and all traffic for a.b.c.d will go over the AirPort link.
Note that it doesn't matter what protocol you use - any traffic destined for a.b.c.d, whether it's AIM, HTTP, FTP or anything else - or what application you use - Adium, Safari, FireFox, etc. - they'll all use the AirPort link.
Note that this technique will NOT work if you have both interfaces on the machine configured in the same subnet, but this is not a supported configuration, so you shouldn't be doing that anyway.

  • Mail: How to check an account ONLY from specific Network Location?

I use multiple macs, and use my .mac account to synchronize mail accounts, rules, smart mailboxes, signatures, etc.
However, I'd actually like to specifically NOT check certain accounts on some machines.
Even though the account settings are synced, I thought I might be able to take advantage of "Network Locations" to create specific network locations like HOME or WORK and thusly create a combination of mail and network location preferences that would solve my particular need. The idea being that it would allow me to specify in mail's settings (somehow) that a particular mail account should only check the server for messages if the current network location is actually WORK, and if the network location was HOME, it should just not check.
Some other apps (ie: Snerdware's Groupcal) will check the network location setting and not perform checks if the current location is not the expected one.
So the question is, is there some way to make Mail.app 2.1.3 on Tiger do this?

30 messages displayed is the default, but you can change that.  On your email page, under "settings" is an option to change the number of messages per page.  One  option is "no limit."

  • What are the features supported in Cisco Prime Infrastructure for WLAN for autonomous AP's?

What are the features supported in Cisco Prime Infrastructure for WLAN for autonomous AP’s?

    • PI provides visibility for autonomous  clients within the same list view as lightweight and wired clients (client list  page).
    • Rogue AP detection for autonomous AP's is not supported (it's  supported in CUWN).
    • Alarms/events for client authentication issues (e.g.  authentication failure) are displayed in PI.
    • Config management for  autonomous AP's is via CLI template.  Config comparison and archiving  functionality in PI leverages these same features that were brought in from LMS,  so need to defer to others in terms of whether this is a cross-platform feature  in PI or is only supported on a subset of platforms.  Config comparison/archive  is supported in CUWN.PI supports both infrastructure (e.g. AP Tx Power and  Channel, busiest AP, AP utilization, etc.) and client (e.g. client count, client  sessions, etc.) reports, and there are extensive reports for CUWN

This forum is for questions about Apple Remote Desktop, Apple's software for managing networked Mac systems, and hence not the best place for your question. I'd suggest asking in the iTunes for Windows forum. You'll need to include more details, including the version of Windows you have, before anyone can do more than guess as to the problem.

It is an orphan that will be removed from EMC is a future update. The feature itself has been removed from 2010, you can no longer access SharePoint or file servers through OWA. • Safari Won't Connect To Specific Network. Firefox Will!

I have a specific issue with Safari (and Mail.app) on a specific network I try to connect to.
The network is one offered on a train service, and pre-Lion I've been able to connect to it just fine.
All of a sudden my MBP and MBA are able to connect to the network - but if I try and start Safari it just bounces away in the dock.
On the rare occasion that Safari starts it won't connect to any webpages. Mail.app also refuses to work in the same way.
If I use Firefox - I can use the internet as normal (although I still have issues with Mail.app).
The bigger issue occurs when I am off the train and trying to use my laptop on other networks - Safari and Mail continue to refuse to work, even though the laptop tells me I'm connected. I have to restart the entire machine.
I've deleted networks from the SysPrefs, reordered them, tried a Google DNS etc etc. I've Googled the issue like crazy, and even contacted the train operator! - and so far come up with nothing.
Any help would be much apprecieted.

Do you have anti virus software installed or any apps like Little Snitch?
Try deleting the cache associated with Safari.
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac, try Safari.

  • Using manual IP address only for specific networks

For my home network I use DHCP with manual address because I have to forward some ports specifically to my computer. However this causes problems when connecting to other networks. For some reason this setting stays active even when using other networks. Therefore, I can't connect to say my school network because the setting has to be set to plain DHCP. Is there a way to use manual IP address only for specific networks?

System Preferences > Network > Locations and add a location for your home with its manual settings. Add a location for other DHCP locations. Then when you want to connect at another DHCP location select that location from your locations dropdown.
