Fedora 3 & JVM

Hello,
I just had a Redhat Linux Fedora 3 server setup which runs
CF5. I am trying to get a CFX tag to run but I keep getting the
following error:
The JVM library could not be found. Please check if the file
specified in the ColdFusion Administrator actually exists.
I located the libjvm.so file and it is in the following
directory:
/opt/coldfusion/jre/lib/i386/classic/libjvm.so
and that is what I have in the "Java Virtual Machine Path"
field. Is there soething else I have to do to get CF admin to
connect?
Thanks!!!

That JRE is an old 1.3x JRE that was included to run graphing
I believe. Who knows if Fedora 3 supports that JRE. I would suggest
installing a newer Sun JRE like 1.4.2. That way you will know all
the dependencies are there. Then try using your CFXs against the
new JRE.

  • Cannot load JVM 1.4 on Fedora

    I have compiled C++ code bringing up JVM. I have used gcc3.4 on Fedora, linked with j2sdk1.4.0_01 libjvm.so.
    When running it on Fedora, it does not load the JVM.
    The error message is:
    terminate called after throwing an instance of 'jace::JNIException'
      what():  JNIHelper::getJavaVM
    Unable to find the JVM loaderI open the JVM using the following code:
      JNIEnv * env;
      JavaVM * jvm;
      JavaVMOption options[2];
      JavaVMInitArgs vm_args;
      vm_args.version = JNI_VERSION_1_2;
      vm_args.options = options;
      vm_args.nOptions = 2;
      int ret = JNI_CreateJavaVM(&jvm, (void**)&env, &vm_args);Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Evgeny

    The code is compiled with JACE version 1.1rc1_05 . Is it compatible with JDK 1.4?

  • Fedora 13: After upgrading from FF3.6 to FF6.0.2 I no longer have a Java plugin. How do I configure the Java Plugin for FF 6 ? There is no Java Plugin at the site

    I am Fedora 13x64 bit. I just installed FF v6.0.2 from the FF download site. I backed up the existing FF 3.6 as firefox_old
    I need to have a Java plugin to access company site, how do I configure the Java Plugin ?
    At the Plugin area in FF6 there is no Java Plugin available, even after a search.
    I have Java 1.6.0 installed in the OS at:
    /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
    I googled how to configure Java Plugin for FF 6 for Fedora 13 and the trick was to create a soft link from /home/<userID>/.mozilla/plugins to the above libnpjp2.so

    See:

    Any steps that you can take to isolate the problem to specific Java versions, browsers, applets, web sites, operating systems (and versions), etc, would enhance the possibility of getting help.
    You can try the applets at this Sun location and see if any of them are "slow".

    Thanks a lot!
    Regards,

    Fisrt of all, thanks for your reply Sandra.
    I wrote the following commads in cmd.exe
    --------> Compiling <--------
    $:> g++ -c examp_1.cpp -I "C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB 4.5.20\include"
    and all did corectly i get my examp_1.o object file.
    -------> Linking <--------
    $:> g++ -o exampl_1 examp_1.o -L "C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB 4.5.20\lib" -I "C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB 4.5.20\db-4.5.20"
    but i still get the same error.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    As i understand without know enough about linking it's impossible for g++ (MINGW) to understand in linking step the .lib file which is Berkley DB's library for C/C++ API. The only that g++ tackles is .so or .a libraries and no .lib.
    If you don't aggree with this I want to know your opinion.
    As a result the only way to link correct an DB application with g++ is to Build the Berkley DB again with g++ something that is not so easy for me.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    I Builded DB in Fedora 6 Linux Distribution. I did the make and the .libs directory inside the build_unix directory was created.
    But I have similar problem to build my DB application.
    I do the following 2 steps:
    1. Compiling
    g++ -c example_1.cpp
    and I get the example.o object file. I don't understand why g++ didn't complain to include the .h files that demands Berkley DB.
    2. Linking
    g++ -o example example_1.o -L my_path/build_unix/.libs
    And I get the known messages the same i get with MinGW's g++.
    What does it happen in Linux environment? what arguments i don't give?
    And one last question how s.o could find the default path that a linker automaticaly include its libraries? Is this standar for all GNU linux distibution.
    I am writting this cause in Fedora there is in old DB distribution and i found it in /etc/libs (db-3XX.so) so I don't know what happens.
    Thanks for your help and for your support I really appreciate it.

  • Oracle(9.0.1.0) Install On Fedora Core 1

    Hi Everyone,
    Has anyone installed oracle(9.0.1.0) on Fedora? Right now, when I run the installer('/Disk1/runInstaller'), I get this message:
    symbol errno, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference (libzip.so)
    Unable to intialize threads: cannot find class java/lang/Thread
    Could not create Java VM
    I'm guessing it's a JVM issue, what are the solutions?

  • JDeveloper, Subversion, Fedora Core 5 x86-64

    I decided to install JDeveloper 10.1.3 on my FC5 workstation and give it a try. This workstation is an AMD x86-64 bit CPU. This is a brief description of the steps I followed:
    1. Java SDK. I already had Sun's 1.5.0_06 SDk installed. Since FC5 uses (custom) JPackage packages, I installed the Sun SDK using the JPackage no-source RPM (http://jpackage.org/rpm.php?id=3366).
    This requires a little rpm package building, but has worked well for me in the past. With FC5 there are some simple instructions for setting up an rpm build environment (from the FC release notes). Run the following two commands in your home directory:
    su -c 'yum install fedora-rpmdevtools'
    fedora-buildrpmtree
    Then follow the instructions for "non-free" packages on the JPackage site (http://jpackage.org/rebuilding.php).
    2. Subversion preparation. Make sure the following packages are installed:
    subversion-javahl-1.3.1-2.1.x86_64
    subversion-1.3.1-2.1.x86_64
    Note again that this is an x86-64 workstation.
    3. Download JDeveloper zip file and unzip in a directory of your choice. I used $HOME/lib/jdev1013 since I am the only user of this system that will use JDeveloper. I will call this directory JDEV_HOME.
    4. cd into JDEV_HOME/jdev/bin.
    5. Edit jdev.conf. I used gedit as a simple and fast text editor for gnome but any will work.
    5a. Add this to allow JDeveloper to find the java bindings for subversion:
    # 6 May 2006
    # Enable subversion bindings
    AddNativeCodePath /usr/lib64"
    5b. Change "SetJavaVM hotspot" to "SetJavaVM server". The Sun JVM for x86-64 CPUs does not have hotspot at this time.
    5c. Save and close.
    6. Start JDeveloper with ./jdev
    7. JDeveloper will prompt for the path to the SDK. If you use the JPackage rpm for the Sun SDK, this is: /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/. If you use the Sun rpm or a different JVM then the path will differ.
    That is it. Use JDeveloper's update feature to add the Subversion plug-in.
    There may be other quirks, but I have not run into them yet.

    Hi Brad: Please explain #1. Java SDK. I already....
    I have 1.5.0_10 installed. Shall I install another SDK via JPackage? The links
    http://jpackage.org/rpm.php?id=3366
    http://jpackage.org/rebuilding.php
    are not working.

  • NW04s Linux Trial : problem installing IBM JDK Fedora Core 6

    Hi,
    I'm trying to install the NW04S Linux Preview on a Fedora Core 6 distribution and I'm encountering a problem with the IBM JDK 1.4.2 installation.
    I've downloaded the RPM package from IBM (IBMJava2-AMD64-142-SDK-1.4.2-7.0.x86_64.rpm
    ), installed it as root but when I try to invoke the virtual machine (java) or the compiler (javac), I got the following error :
    libjvm.so preloadLibrary: /libj9vm22.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    libjvm.so failed to load: j9vm22
    Has anyone tried to install the Linux Preview on Fedora and encountered the same problem. It might be connected to some sort of the linux dynamic linker/loader (ld.so) or versions of librairies.
    I'm really lost here and I won't be able to start the installation without a working virtual machine.
    Thanks

    I have double checked the link provided to the IBM JDK in the Linux Trial and it seems I had the wrong version. I've downloaded IBMJava2-AMD64-142-SDK-1.4.2-7.0.x86_64.rpm (1.4.2-7) and the special version for SAP is the IBMJava2-AMD64-142-SDK-1.4.2-2.0.x86_64.rpm (1.4.2-2).
    I have installed it : rpm -ivh IBMJava2-AMD64-142-SDK-1.4.2-2.0.x86_64.rpm
    I have installed it and activated it as the default JVM using alternatives command :
    alternatives --install /usr/bin/java java /opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142/bin/java 2
    alternatives --config java
    I now have a different error :
    [root@macpro ~]# java
    JVM not found: libjvm.so  - libjvm.so
    What could have I done wrong ?
    Thanks for you help

  • JVM 1.4.2_06-b03 version has got a problem??

    Hi all,
    I am currently using the JVM version 1.4.2_06-b03 in Fedora Core 2.It gave me some problem in server socket program.The Problem is as follows ,
    I wrote a single threaded server program,which connects to database and does some insertion and selection from the database.
    While testing,i wrote a CLIENT program which which will PUMP the server socket with DATA,every two seconds.
    I ran the same program in JVM version 1.3.1_15-b01 and i was checking the logs.
    After three hours or four, the 1.4 version program got hung. The Socket was still listening, as i was able to telnet to the port.
    The socket was not taking any input and i was not able to KILL the JAVA PROCESS also.
    But the same PROGRAM was running fine in JDK 1.3.1_15 version.
    Is there any problem in that version of JVM?? If yes, which version was the bug solved and which is the stable version in JVM 1.4 ??
    There was no issues with the Database server as it was working fine for other programs.
    Please if any one could help me let me know as soon as possible
    Regards
    Vickraman V.P

    Thanks BIJO .i will try out with the version you have specified.and can u explain how to check in bug parade???

    Hi,
    I am installing Oracle 10g over Fedora 8 running on VMWare .
    Now the problem that I am facing is listed below:-
    --> When i try to run ./runInstaller, it gives me some following error

    --> When i tried to troubleshoot the same, i found out that i should execute the same using command "./runInstaller -jreLoc /usr/lib/jvm/jre". I don't know why, but the same was given on One Website. Please let me know for the same, as this worked once, and now when I am again trying to do the same, the oracle installer windows open, but with abnormal termination and threw this error

Please clear my way for this, as I always wanted to find the solution for the same.

    I have installed java from java.com

    Any Jar file by default is associated in Windows as a Executable Jar File.When you click it the JVM tries to launch it as an standalone application But those files are not standalone applications and they don't contain Main-Class attribute in the manifest.mf file.
    If you want to open jar files with a single click you will need to associate Jar files with winrar or open them directly.
    It is not recommended to modify any file or their values.

  • Pro*COBOL not getting instaled on Fedora 14

    Hi,
    I have installed Oracle 11gr2 on Fedora 14 x86_64 system,. But the Pro*COBOL pre compiler which automatically comes with Oracle is not getting installed (Instead Proc is available. I dont know why). I have the entire application coded in embeded SQL-COBOL programs. I am stuck here, unable to preprocess my programs.
    Please suggest me the procedure to resolve. Thanks in advance.
    Note: In "Advanced Install" option I could not find "custom instal"l or a provision to select "precompilers" but other DBA related things found

    David,
    Can you try passing in the 1.5 VM location manually as listed below
    WorkshopInstaller.exe LAX_VM d:\bea\9server\jdk150_04\bin\java.exe
    Can you also make sure that the 1.5 JVM value entry is the first entry in the PATH environment variable.
    cheers

    What are the procedures for installing j2ee1.4 on fedora 4, I' m getting an error about shared lib.
    Thanks

    Fedora 4 support is not available yet.
    If you would still like to install, you can do this,
    -unzip the executable install bundle
    -Run appserv.class from the extracted image with a 1.4.2 jvm.

  • JVM crashes at getJavaJniClass()- getClass()

    I use jdk 1.5.0_07 on Fedora, together with jace 1.1.rc1_05, compiled with gcc 3.4.4
    The C++ main loads JVM, and runs a method which calls a native method implemented back in C++. When the native method converts jstring to std::string (using autoproxy-generated code), the program crashes.
