Field's style property question(from sec page)

hi,
i am trying to change the style of a particular column on a grid by using the 'style' property. this works fine from the standard page/subpage button fieldchange pplcode, but has no effect when I set the style from a fieldchange pplcode of a button located in a 'secondary page'. does secondary page not allow such field properties to trigger. is there a workaround or am i missing something specific to sec pages ?

How to populate a hidden form field with a value passed from another page

I'm using PHP/MySQL and DW CS4.
I am trying to obtain the external key for a table, and include it as a hidden field in a form for a second table.
The user selects a "need" from a list and is taken to a new page which displays the need selected in the prior page and a form the user can fill out with details of his offer, there should also be a hidden field in this form that contains the index to the needs table, this hidden field holds the external key. Most of the code is working, except for populating the hidden field with the external key. I have proven(by printing it to the screen) that I have obtained the external key and stored it in a variable ($saveNeedId) . What I'm unable to do is assign this variable to the hidden field in the form I'm about to store in a table. Sometimes I get zero and sometimes I get the index to the first need in the table. This ought to be simple but I can't get it to work, I must be missing something obvious - still very new to PHP.

Moving Pages from one Page Group to Another Group

Hello,
How do you move pages, styles, or items from one page group to another page group?
On the same machine, I have three page groups called Production, Acceptance, and Test. Once I set up a page that I like on the page group Test, what is the best way to move the page(and its items, portlets,etc) to the page group Acceptance, and then move it into Production?
Also, how does security and approvals affect this? There is only limited amount of people that are able to get into the Test Page Group, or Acceptance Page Group. Would any copying process make sure the page approvers be copied across correctly? Or will manual intervention be needed.
I'm using Oracle Portal Release 2 (9.0.2) running on a solaris machine.

As far as i know, the pages can only be moved within the page group but not from one page group to another page group.

Problems when I copy a text from master page field to body page field

I am developing a electronic form and I have experimented a strange bebehavior.
When I try to copy a rawvalue of listbox field from master page to textbox field in body page, this works randomly.
I have this code in the validation of the master page field

How to redirect user from login page to "Set Challenge question" page (NOT custom page) after 3 un successful password attempts?
Meaning when user types wrong password 3 times they will be redirected to set Challenge question page. If user answers the challenge question then password reset page should be appeared other wise (after remaining 3 un successeful challenge question answers) account should be locked out.

Thanks for your answer. Let me ellaborate more on the requirement here.
- Password Policy and Lost Password management are set up in the identity system
- Configure login tries allowed= 5. Verify accout is lock out after 5 unsucessful login.
This is what need to achieve.
1) If a user attempts to login 3(not 5) times using an incorrect login credential he/she should be redirected to set challenge question (security question) page.
2) Then if the user attempts (remaining) 2 times incorrect challenge answer then his/her account should be locked out.
3) If he/she answers the challenge answer correctly then he/she should be redirected to password reset page.
Is this possible?

folder in (from what it looks like) Z:\ToExport\RepDocs\ that is
the new folwer name, ex:

How to "Add" a combo key of 3 fields from a page into other pages ?

Hello. My PeopleSoft component has 5 pages. Its layout looks like below:
AddJournal Header Lines Total Error
"AddJournal" is the first page that has 3 fields: OperatingUnit, ID, Date. The 3 fields is also a combo key that appears in the next 4 pages "Header", "Lines", "Total" and "Error" to maintain data consistency and identify the transaction.
I am working on a push button "Add" in the "AddJournal" page. The button should do 2 things:
First, when click on button "Add", it inserts the values of 3 fields into its underlying "AddJournal" table in Database.
Second, after click on the button, the value of 3 fields also appear on the next 4 pages "Header", "Lines", "Total" and "Error". All the other 4 pages' underlying Database tables contain the 3 fields.
I understand how to achieve the first function by using push button properties "Scroll Action" and "Row Insert". But don't understand how to achieve the second function.
Does any folk understand how to do the second function ?
Do I need to redesign the Database tables for the next 4 pages to achieve the second function ?

There is a lot here, and I think we will need more information to help.
FieldChange Event:
The FieldChange event occurs when you change that particular field. So, assuming the PeopleCode works correctly, it will copy the values of those three fields at the time just after you change the OperatingUnit. So, take this example:
-all three fields are blank
-You change the OperatingUnit to "OU"
-You change the ID to "XX"
-You change the Date to "04/23/2010"
The values that would be copied to the other pages would be "OU", blank, and blank because that is what they were just after changing OperatingUnit to "OU"
Does that make sense?
Page Design:
Normally, the keys are automatically populated for you. Header and Line sound like a parent-child relationship. So, if your page is designed correctly, the keys should be carried over automatically for you. If the tables are all sibling tables you will need the PeopleCode. I don't know if you want to explore the page design issue at all, but that might solve your problem without the PeopleCode.
In any case, it would help if you would post the page structure. First of all, what occurs level are the three tables at? You can tell on the Order tab of the page -- I believe it is the far left column.
PeopleCode:
Can you post your PeopleCode, and maybe we can spot something in the PeopleCode that is not right? If you are unsure if and when your PeopleCode is running, you can place a winmessage function in there. Put something like this:
WinMessage("Hello!");
You should see the hello message after you change the Operating Unit field. With deferred processing, you may not see it until you hit Save or Refresh.

Is there a way to print this without the background color? If you printed from a browser, you could choose not to print the back ground color. I know exactly the color.
Is there a way to make this PDF look like the web, with no page breakes? I have tried various things, but the page breaks are always displayed.
Is there a way to create bookmarks on somthing other than the title tag in the web site? The title tag is an SEO 1 sentence summary of the page, which makes for very long book mark names.

I don't use v9, but what I would do is click the FILE--PRINT option, print to PDF, and enter to print one page (default is first page)

Creating an XML Report from OAF page

Hi All,
I have a requirement to create a PDF report from an OAF page. From the below code , I was able to print the XML with the values.
I know i should map this XML to RTF by creating the Data defiition through XML publisher responsibility.
My understanding :
1. Generate the XML from Conttroller
2. Load the XML to RTF and map the fields
3. Register as Data Definition and RTF
4. Output seen
MY QUESTION IS : If i load the values from the below XML to the RTF and register in the data definition , i will get the same values every time it is right . From my understanding, if the data has to change in the report, ,there should be a way which will directly send the generated xml from the controller to the RTF (Without step2)

Thanks for your reply. I have gone through the link you provided . It gave me excellent information. But just one clarification , when we create the data definition, dont we have to add any of the files like 'XML Schema','Data Template','Preview Data','Bursting Control File'.
The reason, i am asking this question is, when i proviously worked with XML reports in 11.10.2, we used to attach a .xml file to the Data Template of the data definition ,which would populate the RTF.
Now here, if i dont attach that file in the data definition, will the XML data direclty mapped from contrlloer ?. I assume ,The only thing i need to do is to MAP the XML tags to RTF before registering ..

Download to excel in different tabs from bsp page

Hi all,
I have a requirement in which I have to download to xl-sheet in different tabs based on some conditions from a bsp page.
I am successful in downloading data into different tabs.
Now I had written the piece of code required to download to xl in a function module
and I am calling that function module when pressing a button in bsp page.
When I run the fm seperately its working but when I run it from bsp page its not working.But while debugging I found that the fm is being called and executed perfectly without any errors.
But the xl is not being created on our side.
Can anyone suggest me how to proceed on this.

Applescript: transferring total appearance from one page item to another

What is the best way to transfer all the properties of a path item that determine appearance to another path item?
What if those path items are in separate documents?
Should I copy and paste?
what about:
set item_properties to every property of page item 1 of document 2
set properties of page item 5 of current document to item_properties
Specifically, I want to copy the following properties from one path item to another, across documents:
stroked
stroke width
stroke color
stroke dashes
stroke cap
filled
fill color
--and any patterns that are used as fill
blend mode
opacity
any help appreciated.

the main downside to this is it adds another layer of manual work--you would have to make a graphic style by hand from each sample object (because you can't make a new graphic style with a script). I would rather make the script do the work, so that if I have a lot of different sample items to mimic it could be automated.
The big problem I've encountered with just moving each property over is that when I make my own fill pattern for the sample object, and copy that pattern over as a "fill color", it seems to cause some problem with opening the document, as I found in this other discussion:

Editable text box on each page, but generated from Master Page?

I want to create a blank text box that lives on the Master Page so that it shows up on each page in the document, but I then would enter custom text into the field on each page ( or just leave it blank).
I know, I know, I can do simply copy a text box from one page, and paste in place on all subsequent pages... or set it up once on a page, then just keep duplicating that page... or some other work around. But simple as those work arounds are, I'd just like a blank text box show up automatically on each page as a master page item, then I can enter text as a see fit and not have to do any duplicating tricks. I've looked up a few tutorials, but none solve for my need.
So I guess the real question is, does InDesign allow the content of a master page text field to be individually edited on the pages of the document itself?

It's bet to NEVER use the override master page items command since it overrides ALL master items. That's like using a wrecking ball as a flyswatter. And you don't need to put random text in the frame either (especially since you said you don't want to use it on some pages, though it might be best for those if you create another master without the frame). To override any master object hold Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) + Shift and click on it with the selection tool.
