File Access from DB Server/Unix Mounting

We have an Oracle Database that runs on Unix Box and a cold fusion application/web server runs on a Windows box. We have a data intensive stored procedure that gets data from DB, does lot of massaging and then create bunch of html files with sorting capabilities etc. This process happens upon user request from website (cold fusion/html page calling Oracle stored procedure). After this, the cold fusion server need to get access to these html files to display to the user.
Our Unix DBA's does NOT want to do File Mounting as they think the windows box is not secure. Hence we are exploring other options.
Below are the options we are exploring. But very well open to suggestions...
1. Let cold fusion query the data from Database and let it do the data manipulation/massaging
2. We explored the external tables (based on file) but the files are dynamic and could not find a way to do this
3. FTP transfer from Unix to NT box but there could be time delay and may not be available for immediate display
4. Create a temporary table, let the DB procedure insert data into table. Then Cold fusion will query from there.
Any other suggestions?

Hi,
Its not required to handle for #
just read the dataset into the string and split the string into work area fields seoparated by TAb delimiter.
Eg:
READ DATASET <filename> INTO l_string.
SPLIT l_string
               AT cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab "Horizontal tab
              INTO l_funcloc_clas-tplnr
                   w_funcloc_clas-class
                   w_funcloc_clas-klart
                   w_funcloc_clas-atnam
                   w_funcloc_clas-atwrt
                   w_funcloc_clas-atfor.
append w_funcloc_clas to l_funcloc_clas.

  • "Open file..." dialog from Application Server (Unix)

    Hi all you experts.
I have a simple ABAP program that reads input files from Application Server (Unix), at this moment the users have to enter manually the name of the file(s) in a parameter text field. I would like to add value to this program by helping the user select the file using an "Open file..." dialog or something similar that enable them to chose the file on behalf of writing the complete name (including the path).
Do you have any idea about how to implement it?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Try function module F4_DXFILENAME_TOPRECURSION or F4_FILENAME_SERVER (for a specific directory) within the at value-request event for the filename.
    Cheers,

  • Read-only file access from network volume

I get an read-only file access from network volume problem while sharing a drive from Snow Leopard to a Tiger install. Most of files were opening well, but *.fp7 (FileMaker) and *.xls (Excel) files won't open dealing with a read-only error.
As descibed in the last post of http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1406977 the client have the same share name of the server. Renomming it resolved the error!
    Thanks!

right then, as it looks like I'm talking to myself....
I have just wiped clean the Macbook Pro.
I installed Leopard from scratch, then installed Office 2008.
Logged back onto the network share, and the read-only error came up again, ONLY in Excel.
    bugger.
Did the same thing with my Macbook and all is fine.
Copy the file to the local hard drive, opens ok.
I then copied the file to another Mac on the network.
    mmmm, opens fine.
    what's the difference....
mmmm, the machine it opens fine from is running 10.4
the machine which hosts all the data is running 10.3.9
    could this be the problem.
Just done a software update check on the 10.3 machine and there are some security updates that need doing.
Going to run that now and see what happens, otherwise I think the iMac running 10.3.9 is going to need to come up to 10.4 and fingers crossed this will solve it.

  • Is it possible to load a dump file collected from sql server to orcle 10gR2

    Hi..
As a part of data migration from legacy systems , we need to migrate only required tables from Sql server to Oracle 10gr2 .
At present client is telling that he will give it as dump file.
My question is , Is it possible to load the dump file collected from sql server to oracle 10gR2?
    Thanks in advance ..

    yes, it is.
Using for example SQL Developer Migration Workbench even allows you to create unload scripts for the desired SQL Server tables and it also creates the DDL scripts for you to create the Oracle tables similar to the SQL Server table AND it alows creates the SQL*Loader scripts that allow you to load the SQL Server generated dump file into the Oracle db.
    Here the link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration/workbench/index_sqldev_omwb.html
If you do not want to use this utility, you can also use SQL*Loader to load the content of the SQL Server dump file into the Oracle database; but in this case you have to write the whole SQL*Loader control scripts on your own.

  • Configure ODBC to access a CSV file on Linux for access from BI Server

How to configure an ODBC connection to a CSV file on Linux for access from the BI Server Repository physical layer
I am migrating a working windows OBIEE installation to Linux and can not seem to connect to csv files on Linux (from th BI server also running on the same Linux machine).
I am using SUse Linux Enterprise server / 10 (Slash 10) standard odbc drivers
My odbc ini file entries are:

The csv files I want to use are in the directory /data/oracle/OracleBIData/idc to which I have set up a working and checked connection ([idcbicsvfiles]) on the linux machine itself.
The error message I get when I select view data in the physcial layer is:

[nQSError: 16023] The ODBC function has returned ans error. The database may not be available, or the network may be down.
Please can anybody give me a clue on how to get this working e.g. a working odbc.ini file from your own installation (and/or a tip for the odbc driver choice/configuration)
P.S. I know this is not supported by Oracle but can not imagine, that nobody is using this.

    data : txtstr type string.
    concatenate  searchpoints-dirname '/scm/' werks '/' filnam into e_file.
open dataset e_file for output in text mode encoding default.
    loop at itab.

  • Remote File accessing from java WebNFS

    Hi
I am using java WebNFS package provided by sun to access the remote file system from java class. A class called com.sun.xfile.XFile does this functionality and it is almost similar to java.io.File. My issue is I am trying to lookup a Windows NT File Server through the XFile constructor and list out all the files in a particular directory. When I run the sample class from a Windows Machine it is working fine. But when I run the same class from a Linux machine, the XFile class couldnt resolve the path. Do those Linux server and the Windows NT File server should have been mounted ? Suggestions are welcome. Thx in advance.

  • 11g issue in handling file datastore from different server

    Hi All,
In ODI 11g we have standalone agent as well as weblogic server agent. In our case master/workrep and weblogic server agent is installed in one of the linux server Say (A).
We have a scenario to pick the file from one of the different linux box SAY (B). We have child agent running on that box and it is associated with the main weblogic agent under load balancing.
While setting the topology information for file datastore it just need the driver name and path. At run time how odi will pick the respective file from that server
    Eg:File in location: /app/soa/uo1/testfile/test.txt(B)
    File path:/app/soa/uo1/testfile/test.txt(B)
ODI Client will start the execution using the Server A weblogic agent. How ODI will route the control to child agent and try to find the file in ServerB and not in server A.
in my case it is going to server A and saying file doesnot exist......
Is it really possible to assign the proper server detail, so that we can make sure that execution will happen properly. I am not sure about the weblogic agent and how it control the execution. I think in my case its weblogic agent which is trying to look for the file in server A, where it is installed and thus failing.
Control is not passing to the proper child agent as expected?
    Any idea?

There is a difference in your understanding of the load balancing and the way it is implemented in ODI agents.
In your case, the weblogic agent exists on Server A and hence it expects that the file also be visible to the agent and be local to server A.
Load balancing comes into picture when there are too many connections for Agent A and it shares its load with other agents. This logic of passing control is within the agent and when file systems come into picture, the filesystem should be visible to all the agents.
There is no concept of parent-child agents. The agents are simply load-share agents.
So, Load balancing is not going to give you what you want.
In your case, you should execute the job using Agent on server B so that appropriate filesystem can be accessed.

  • Files Transfer from Windows Server 2008 R2 on Mac

    Hi,
How can I transfer files from "Windows Server 2008 R2" on Mac? as now I am using 2 App (Microsoft Remote Desktop & Fast Remote Desktop) which allowed me everything but not transfer files on Mac, so any other recommendation or salutation?
    Thanks

    Hi,
You need to configure folder redirection.
Folder redirection enables access local folders during the remote session. Click the + button at the bottom of the dialog and choose a folder you want to have
    redirected.
    Configure Folder Redirection:
    1. Click the + button.
    2. In the Add Local Folder window, enter the following information:

Name: Set a name for the folder to be available during the remote session.

Path: Select the path to the folder to be available during the remote session.
    3. Click the close button to save the remote desktop.
