File event handler

As we khow , query or polling is very loaded system resource , I would like to khow how we use (if possible) interrupt on file read/write event?

Hi Vaibhav,
I agree with Mark, we could only show an alert box but the document would get printed eventually.
I was checking for a workaround for this, here is what I did:
I hide the actual PRINT menu item using the hideMenuItem, then added a new custom made menu item cUser:"PRINT".
If the user clicks on this menu item then it displays a alert box with two options YES/NO, so if the user press YES then I call the execMenuItem("Print").
But this has a problem, if the user press "Ctrl+P" then it will go to the print dialog box directly.
User could also click on the Print icon available in the toolbar.
These are the two problems which I am facing now.
I want to show the popup even if the user press the "Ctrl+P" or click on the Print icon.
Thanks you guys for the help, if you have any other suggestions on this please post it!
Thanks,
Vikas

  • Can File Based events Handle wildcards in the filename

    The question was can file events handle wildcards in the filename? That way, the object scheduled to handle the event can query the file event specifics and process accordingly. The impact is that we will have to create a file event for every event type for every pathway/state. Therefore, in a worst case scenario, if there are 3 event types for every state, i.e., end of day, end of week, and end of month, and there are 50 pathways/states, then there would be 50 *3 or 150 total file events that would have to be entered. If BOE can handle file event wildcarding, then we need only one event.can we do that ???

    Hi
    As per my knowledge events will not Handle wildcards in the filename

    Validation Event handlers will not work with your trusted recon. You can use the GTC Validation provider, it is nothing but the plugins which you can insert with in your source field in GTC. I think you can easily get the steps for how to create a custom GTC Providers.

  • Event handler if new File added in current folder

    Hi folks,
    I'm just trying to write a little jsx script for Bridge CS6.
    How can I implement an event handler that will react if the user adds a new thumbnail (new file) to the current folder in bridge.
    I've tested it with this code, but it doesn't work:
    app.document.thumbnail.watch ("children", function(id, oldVal, newVal) {
         $.writeln (oldVal + " to " + newVal);
         // some code here
    Thanks. Greetings

    Beautiful. Works as advertised. Thank you for pointing it out to me. Unfortunate that a basic subset of this extension's behaviour doesn't ship with Thunderbird out of the box, though.

  • Problem reading custom property file from custom event handler.

    Hi,
    My custom event handler needs some bits of information that I have set up in a property file. However, when the event handler runs it throws a FileNotFound exception - actually its because permission was denied.
    I have added the code System.getProperty("user.name") to find out the actual user that the event handler is running as. It reports that "oracle" is the user.
    That's great. However, the permissions on the file will allow oracle to read/write the file. If I log onto the server where OCDB runs (as oracle), I can vi the file.
    The file is owned by another user, but the "oracle" is a member of the group that has read/write (we're running on a unix box). The file is not 777.
    The event handler is actually calling a static utility method that returns the Properties. This utility is used elsewhere in other custom apps in conjunction with OCDB (on the same server). It works there, so the utility is functioning correctly.
    Is there something going on that I'm missing? Like somehow the event handler is acually runn as somebody else?
    Here is the node log.
    2007/07/17 12:52:16 [oracle.ifs] [37] 434364 system FINE: Error /opt/csc/sfi/configuration/sfi.properties (Permission
    denied) Additional INFO: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /opt/csc/sfi/configuration/sfi.properties (Permission denied)
    Thanks in advance for the help.
    Winston

    Matt,
    Sorry to have wasted your time. It was a server reboot issue. The ocdb server hasn't been restarted since early July. We added the users and groups late last week. Although we tested on line, the server wasn't quite up to speed with the new changes.
    We bounced the server and all is well.
    Thanks

  • Accessing properties file value in event handler in OIM11gR2

    Hi,
    Can i store the bolded values in below code in a propery file and call them. I am implementing this code in Post event handler.

  • How can I execute an external program from within a button's event handler?

    I am using Tomcat ApacheTomcat 6.0.16 with Netbeans 6.1 (with the latest JDK/J2EE)
    I need to execute external programs from an event handler for a button on a JSF page (the program is compiled, and extremely fast compared both to plain java and especially stored procedures written in SQL).
    I tried what I'd do in a standalone program (as shown in the appended code), but it didn't work. Instead I received text saying the program couldn't be found. This error message comes even if I try the Windows command "dir". I thought with 'dir' I'd at least get the contents of the current working directory. :-(
    I can probably get by with cgi on Apache's httpd server (or, I understand tomcat supports cgi, but I have yet to get that to work either), but whatever I do I need to be able to do it from within the button's event handler. And if I resort to cgi, I must be able to maintain session jumping from one server to the other and back.
    So, then, how can I do this?
    Thanks
    Ted
    NB: The programs that I need to run do NOT take input from the user. Rather, my code in the web application processes user selections from selection controls, and a couple field controls, sanitizes the inoputs and places clean, safe data in a MySQL database, and then the external program I need to run gets safe data from the database, does some heavy duty number crunching, and puts the output data into the database. They are well insulated from mischeif.
    NB: In the following array_function_test.pl was placed in the same folder as the web application's jsp pages, (and I'd tried WEB-INF - with the same result), and I DID see the file in the application's war file.
            try {
                java.lang.ProcessBuilder pn = new java.lang.ProcessBuilder("array_function_test.pl");
                //pn.directory(new java.io.File("K:\\work"));
                java.lang.Process pr = pn.start();
                java.io.BufferedInputStream bis = (java.io.BufferedInputStream)pr.getInputStream();
                String tmp = new String("");
                byte b[] = new byte[1000];
                int i = 0;
                while (i != -1) {
                    bis.read(b);
                    tmp += new String(b);
                getSelectionsDisplayTextArea().setText(getSelectionsDisplayTextArea().getText() + "\n\n" + tmp);
            } catch (java.io.IOException ex) {
                getSelectionsDisplayTextArea().setText(getSelectionsDisplayTextArea().getText() + "\n\n" + ex.getMessage());
            }

    Hi Fonsi!
    One way to execute an external program is to use the System Exec.vi. You find it in the functions pallet under Communication.

  • Copying text to the clipboard in AVDocDidOpen event handler causes Acrobat 9 to crash

    I'm trying to copy the filename of a document to the clipboard in a plugin with my AVDocDidOpen event handler.  It works for the first file opened; however when a second file is opened, Acrobat crashes.  The description in the application event log is: "Faulting application acrobat.exe, version 9.1.0.163, faulting module gdi32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5698, fault address 0x000074cc."
    I've confirmed that the specific WIN32 function that causes this to happen is SetClipboardData(CF_TEXT, hText);  When that line is commented out and remaining code is left unchanged, Adobe doesn't crash.
    Is there an SDK function that I should be using instead of WIN32's SetClipboardData()?  Alternately, are there other SDK functions that I need to call be before or after I call SetClipboardData()
    Bill Erickson

    Leonard,
    I tried it with both "DURING, HANDLER, END_HANDLER" and "try catch," as shown below.  However, it doesn't crash in the event handler; it crashes later, so the HANDLER/catch block is never hit.
    The string that's passed to SetClipboardData() is good, because I'm able to paste it into the filename text box of the print dialog when I try to create the "connector line" PDF.  I also got rid of all the string manipulation and tried to pass a zero-length string to the clipboard but it still crashes.
    Here's the code:
    ACCB1 void ACCB2 CFkDisposition::myAVDocDidOpenCallback(AVDoc doc, Int32 error, void *clientData)
        PDDoc pdDoc = AVDocGetPDDoc(doc);
        char* pURL = ASFileGetURL(PDDocGetFile(annotDataRec->thePDDoc));
        if (pURL)    {
            if (strstr(pURL, "file://") && strstr(pURL, "Reviewed.pdf")) {
                // Opened from file system so copy filename to clipboard for connector line report
                char myURL[1000];
                strcpy(myURL, pURL);
                ASfree(pURL);    // Do this before we allocate a Windows handle just in case Windows messes with this pointer
                pURL = NULL;

                        char *pText = (char *)GlobalLock(hText);
                        char *pWork = strrchr(myURL,'/');
                        if (pWork)    {

                        } else {
                            strcpy(pText, myURL);

                        // Replace "%20" in filename with " "
                        pWork = strstr(pText, "%20");
                        while (pWork)    {
                            *pWork = ' ';
                            memmove(pWork+1, pWork+3, (pEnd - (pWork+2)));
                            pWork = strstr(pText, "%20");
                        // Append a new file extension
                        pWork = strstr(pText, ".pdf");
                        *pWork = 0;    // truncate the string before ".pdf"
                        strcat(pWork,".Connectors.pdf");

  • How to run a dialog's method from a button's event handler?

    I've created my first dialog from the samples, but I am having trouble figuring out how to run a method in my dialog from an button's event handler. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

  • OIM 11.1.1.5.0 - Pre process event handler

    Hi everyone, I'm trying to configure a preprocess event handler to automate email and user login when I click on "create user".
    I mean when I want to create a new user, I just want to fill the first name, the last name, the organization and the type and this preprocess will fill automatically the email and the user login fields. I don't know if it's possible or not with an event handler ?
    Thanks
    Thibault

    If you want this event handler only for manual user creation using UI then you can go with pre-process event handler. The advantage you get is, no need of refereshment. once user created email and user login field will be visible. But in case of post process you have to refresh it manaually. Yes, you have to use post process event handler if the same field you want to populate on Trusted recon as well. Beacause, Pre- process doesn't work with Trusted recon.
    Hope above will help you to decide for pre or post to use.
    Now, for registering plugin. Don't put jar in the zip, you have to place .class in case of event handler. jar we use for scheduled task. place your class file like below and zip
    lib/*package structure folder*/EmailLoginAuto.class
    ie lib/com/test/eventhandler/EmailLoginAuto.class
    for importing eventhandler.xml put it anywhere in your directory structure
    ex: /tmp/db/eventhandler.xml
    and update the from_location as /tmp in weblogic.properties
    --nayan

    Hello experts,
    I am trying to set username policy by implementing a validation event handler in OIM 11.1.1.5.
    Following are the steps followed
    1. Import metadata
    Created a file called Eventhandler.xml as below and imported using weblogicImportmetadata.sh
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <eventhandlers xmlns="http://www.oracle.com/schema/oim/platform/kernel" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.oracle.com/schema/oim/platform/kernel orchestration-handlers.xsd">
    <validation-handler class="test.iam.eventhandlers.CustomValidationEventHandler" entity-type="User" operation="CREATE" name="CustomValidationEventHandler" order="1000" sync="TRUE"/>
    </eventhandlers>
    2. Register plugin
    plugin.xml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    I have implemented preprocess and postprocess event handler before with similar kind of plugin registration, metadata import and everything worked fine. Not sure what is the problem here with validation event handler.
    Thanks
    DK

    Instead of registering the plug-in can u try placing it in the plugins folder under Oracle_IDM1/server folder.
    at times restart is required. esp when the server is running in production mode.

  • BSP extension "download" - event handling problem

    Folks,
    First of all, I apologize if the answer is already out there, but I spent quite some time to find the solution for my problem but finally gave up:
    I implemented the Download extension from Brian's and Tom's book. Since I am using an MVC based app, I put the event handling in the DO_HANDLE_EVENT of a controller instead of the OnInputProcessing event of a page. Here's how my app is designed:
    I have a main controller that has an execute button to trigger a data selection based on some selection criteria. The result of this selection is displayed by means of a subcontroller with tableviews that are wrapped into my “zdownload” extension. Everything works fine: I make my selections, execute the app through the button of the main controller and get my result shown in the tableviews. I push the download icon, select my file format (XLS, HTML etc), get the dialog to choose whether to download or to display the file, perfect!
    But now – after I processed the download successfully - if I click the execute button in the main controller again, I still get the download dialog. It looks like the created event for the download does not get cleared. As I mentioned, I searched through SDN, but all I found were referrals to the call of DISPATCH_INPUT( ) in DO_REQUEST of the main controller, but unfortunately this one is already implemented.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Guenther

    There is an attribute of the download extension called display_url. You pass a value to the extension telling it what cached URL contains the binary content for your download.  if this display_url attribute has a value assigned to it, then the element will render an iFrame to call the URl.  However if the display_url attribute is empty, it won't render the iFrame.  I suspect that you have a stateful application and after your download event you aren't clearing whatever field that you pass into the display_url attribute.

  • Event handling in seperate class

    hello... i have a gui w/ a series of combo boxes, text fields, etc. (call this the GUI file)
    upon pressing a button, i need to run a series of event handling that will use info from many of these components
    i would like to create a separate java file for the button event handling, but need this file to have access to many componets in the GUI file - does anyone know a nice way to do this?

    i'm not quite sure how to do that... in my GUI class,
    I construct the actuall gui within the constructor..
    then i have a simple driver that creates an instance
    of class GUI and calls the constructor... how can I
    pass a reference of the GUI to the handler in that
    scenario??it would be better if you post your code. Some people like me can't just imagine.
