File index usage

Hello Friends,
After creating and index on a file how can I address this index in my ABAP program (ie select staement)?
Thx in advance.
Ali

Re:
A collegue informed me about the existence, according to the Database System, of a parameter %_HINTS which on certain system allows to force the choice of the index used by SELECT
Ex :%_HINTS MSSQLNT 'TABLE <tablename> ABINDEX(<suffix>)'. on a MS SQL Server
Look at OSS note with keywords "Open SQL", "%_HINTS" and filter result with your Database System. (DB2, Oracle, and the like)

  • SQL INDEX USAGE

    hi,
I have a procedure which took 15-20 minutes in the past to execute.Suddently it is taking 2 hours. When i examined i came to know that the sql statement is not using one of the index.I dropped the index and created it.The explain plan is generated but still the index is not being used.I forced the index usage by using the index hint
    SELECT /*+ INDEX(test_his test_hist_idx )*/ column 1.....
But still it does not use the index. Please suggest me some advice on this?
    Thanks

I think you're going to have to post the entire text of your query if you want an answer, or people will simply be trying to guess what you've done wrong.
Do you also have the full execution plan from before and after the change in performance ?
If you do post the text, and plans, please use the 'code' tags to make the text readable.
p.s. My shot in the dark guess, based on the text you've supplied, is that you've used the table name in the hint, rather than the table alias.

  • UNUSED EXISTING INDEXES / Index usage

We are using CRM 2007, Netweaver 7.0 with DB2 UDB v9.1 fixpack4 on AIX.
Is there a way to find out  UNUSED EXISTING INDEXES for tables ? We have close 12 indexes on the crmd_order_index table and want to find out if some of them can safely deleted. Is there any way to monitor index usage in SAP ? Is there any toold to aid this ?
    Pls advise.
    thank you
    regards
    Laxmi

    Laxmi,
I am not aware of any such tools with DB2 9.1.  However, "last_used" columns are being added to various catalog tables in DB2 9.7.  Below is an excerpt from a slide presented in the  TLU2008A "DB2 LUW V9.7 Cobra u2013 Storage is Charmed" session.
The last reference time of an object will now be maintained in the LASTUSED column of
the corresponding catalog table for the object
    u2013 SYSCAT.INDEXES.LASTUSED (prior to V9.7 db2pd u2013tcbstats indexes)
    u2013 SYSCAT.TABLES.LASTUSED
    u2013 SYSCAT.DATAPARTITIONS.LASTUSED
    u2013 SYSCAT.PACKAGE.LASTUSED
The LASTUSED column is of type DATE (default value is 1/1/0001)
    Use Cases:
u2013 Detach table partitions that are no longer actively used (esp. when not partitioned by time)
u2013 Determine inactive or infrequently used indexes
u2013 Easily identify tables which are no longer in use
u2013 Get rid of unused packages
The presenter said the code will begin populating these columns in an upcoming fixpack.

    Rick

  • 'IS NOT NULL' & Index Usage

    Hi,
there are many queries my one of my packages, which has the SQL as follows:
    Update table XYZ
    Set Column A = NULL
    Where Colum B IS NOT NULL;
    Column B has NUMBER datatype.
Due to 'IS NOT NULL' the index (existing for Column B' is not being used in the above query, leading to Full table scan. Is there any ways of forcing teh index to be picked/used by the query?
    Thanks,
    Rosalin

thansk again for response. Checked the % of the data
fetched by this query and it ranges from 20% to 50
%(varies due to teh fact the table data content could
have different set of data depending on the days
transactions done). So for sure index usage would
    help.
Additionally this sql(used in multiple places) come
    up in the v$longsops output.
    so definitely needs tuning.
Any suggestions? That's not really true though if you understand the mechanisms employed for a full table scan vs an index scan / table lookup (by rowid since the table must also be visited).
Here's something good for you to read
    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:4433887271030
A full tablescan reads the table using large sequential reads -- many blocks at a time.
Sequential reads are the fastest type of IO you can do on a disk in general.
An index read will do single block, random IO's. These are generally the slowest you can
    do.
I would suggest to you that if you have statistics on the table/indexes that are representative of the data, the Optimizer will be smarter than you (most cases, not all).

  • I can't open pages files from USB and iCloud due to : "The necessary file index.xml is missing".

I can't open pages files from USB and iCloud due to : "The necessary file index.xml is missing". Original file is written on iMac (2014) and saved to an USB stick and then transferred till macBook Pro (2009, Yosemite) for editing. Then I shared the files by iCloud but I am not able to open them on iMac again. Niether can I use the USB stick to transfer the edited files back. I'm running Pages '09 4,1 (923) on the macBook and Pges 5.5.2 (2120) on the iMac.
    Håkan

Pages 5.5.2 is extremely incompatible with even other Macs let alone the vast majority of PC and MsWord users out there, so not a good idea to leap into the fire with both eyes shut.
After having done that to the first Pages 5 files, Apple has repeatedly done it to even the most minor point updates. Apple can't even anticipate its own erratic changes let alone what everyone else needs doing.

  • File system usage report chart generation - automated via reports and email

    Hello,
I have requirement where I have to generate a monthly file system usage chart (just like a tablespace total_mb, used_mb, free_mb....) and mail it directly to the client.....
Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome....
    Thanks,
    S.

It's a pretty open-ended question, because a number of things can be causing slow performance.  You mention needing to look at ODBC connection performance - I found that using ODBC drivers for iSeries was very slow in the past.  You might want to look at using the JDBC driver in the IBM JTOpen Toolkit - it made a big difference for us when we were querying iSeries in the past.
When you refer to "reports" in this thread's title, do you mean reports from ColdFusion Report Builder?  Or to just ColdFusion .cfm pages?  How complex are these reports?  How much information is displayed, especially in tabular form?  Just rendering huge HTML tables (as in thousands of rows of data) will often cause browsers to become temporarily unresponsive or hang.  If you provide more details, we might better be able to target where the "pain point" really is.

  • How to print a file index in mac os 10.9

How do I print a file index in 10.9?

I don't have a plain CD, but I tried a CD-RW and the ability to leave it appendable was not available. I'm not sure if that is related to CD-RW or if the feature was dropped in Mavericks.
Check the More Like This links on the right.
The process previously was to create an image of the folder that held the things you wanted to burn. Then, in Disk Utility, burn the image to disk and check the box to leave it appendable. This was only available for CDs, not DVDs.
You might try some other burning software.

  • Save and File Attachment usage rights for adobe reader

With Acrobat Pro is there any way to save a pdf that has both save usage rights and file attachment usage rights?
It seems that if I save the pdf with save the form data usage rights then I can no longer use createDataObject or setDataObjectContents methods when viewing with adobe reader or acrobat.
createDataObject and setDataObjectContents require 'File Attachment' usage rights, which from the behavior I am getting totally disjoint from the save usage rights.
I have no trouble using submitForm method with save usage rights applied to the pdf.

Thanks for the replies, I also want to verify that a pdf created with acrobat that uses createDataObject or setDataObjectContents will no longer function properly in acrobat after saving the pdf with the additional usage permissions.  Is there any documentation that points to what  functions are crippled by saving the pdf with the various choices of  extensions enabled?  It seems as if I save the pdf with any type of extended usage rights for reader, then the pdf functions as if it was opened by adobe reader even if I have it open in acrobat?

  • Any one noticed issues when UCM contributor data files indexing in GSA

    Hi Guys,
We are using Google search appliance to crawl UCM content (native documents).
We don't have any issues with search results in this way. We are using dynamic converters to convert these documents into HTML in site studio web sites.
But we have plans to move to site studio contributor data files (XML format).
From your experience, any one noticed any issues in search results with UCM site studio contributor data files indexed by GSA.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Don,
Thanks for the reply. I would discard the first one, because
I already built the whole site using XML Data Sets, and the idea
from the start was to use my own Atom feed to update the site. But
the second one seems like a good choice, but I'm a bit puzzled. I
was already using Spry:content for the pages that don't index
correctly, putting them on an empty <span> tag so that they
hid unloaded references... could you elaborate on that second
    choice, then, please?
Here's a sample of the code:
    <!--start main content-->
    <div id="secondary-content" spry:detailregion="dsBase"
    class="wrapper">
    <div id="leftnav" class="frontpage">

    spry:content="{title}"></span></li>
    <li class="subtitleFront">Posted on <span

    <li class="post"><span
    spry:content="{content}"></span></li>
    </ul>
    <p align="left"><br />

    Hi
I checked the site and can replicate on my end.
Going more into depth, I tried to get the animation code and tried with a Non-Muse page , exported as HTML and viewed in IE8. The animation does not works in IE8 , so this is more related with the Animation used.
If you check this link, you can find a solution which I think will resolve the issue :

  • File index cacheing

Is there any way to speed up accessing file indexes in gtk2 apps?  Whenever I save or open a file in a gtk2 app, it takes several seconds (10 to 20) to open the file directory.  This is noticeably slower than kde apps.
Its a pain since even re-opening recently accessed directories takes just as long.
Is there any way of cacheing file indexes to prevent this?

It contains the following. which I believe is correct:
    127.0.0.1        localhost.localdomain    localhost
    192.168.0.2        XP1800.domain    XP1800
    and rc.conf contains:
    HOSTNAME="XP1800"

  • Webservice default file index.html

    Dear all,
I had created a webservice for my application and i put to serve a index.html when user accessing the webservice. In my development laptop, i deployed and i managed to access my webservice using localhost:8080\webservice . When i build an installer with my application and webservice and installed it on another new computer, i cannot access the index.html by default. It returns Access Error:404 -- Not Found. I need to use localhost:8080\webservice\index.html. In webservice build setting, serve default index.html for static document folders is checked. The file index.html also inside the webservice folder of C:\ProgramData. My application still working in the new computer , just i need to use localhost:8080\webservice\index.html instead of localhost:8080\webservice. I am wondering why i cannot access the webservice index.html by default in my new computer but i can access when i deployed on my development laptop. Maybe i missed include some additional installer? Here i attached all the addtional installer that i included in my application installer.

Sorry that i gave wrong information about my problem. I just notice that i cannot access to localhost:8080\webservice even is in development laptop. I am accessed  to localhost:8080\webservice\ before this. So now my problem is i cannot access to index.html using localhost:8080\webservice but succeed with localhost:8080\webservice\ or localhost:8080\webservice\index.html . Before this project, i had done some webservice projects but all works well. I had compared the configuration with my previous projects but i cannot found the different. Then, i notice there is service alias in service setting so i added "webservice" into the service alias. Now i available access using localhost:8080\webservice already. Maybe there is some insignificant different so i didt notice when i compare with previous project.  Btw, thank you for your answer.

    Hi
Are you still facing the same error ? Also, have you tried to export the file as html , does it shows same error ? You can upload the exported html to your server using any FTP client as an alternative.
