File not found with jfilechooser

Question

When I try to open a file with jfilechooser, nothing happens except in command line it says File not found, has anyone got any clues as to why it is doing this. The code I am using for the filechooser is directly below and then the code I am using to read the file is below that. Thanks for anyhelp.

Why are you changing your
File file = fc.getSelectedFile();into
file.getName()?
