Fillable Forms - Total column appears with $0.00, I need it to appear with nothing

I am doing a fillable form with totals. If the total equals zero, I did it to be blank, not to produce a $0.00. Please help me fix this.

Have you tried a searching for 'suppress zero'?

What version of Reader are they using, exactly? And are you sure they're
using Reader itself and not opening the file inside a browser window, for
example?

Error updating Process Form: Same Column exist with a different variant

Hi All,
I have a process form of a resource with following fields :
Name VariantType Length FieldLabel FieldType Order
UD_EDIR_BWUSER boolean 1 BWUser Checkbox 25
UD_EDIR_ISUUser boolean 1 ISUUser Checkbox 26
Now, I have to changes these field from boolean to string. For that, I created a new process form version and update like this:
1. Delete these fields first.
2. Add two new fields:
UD_EDIR_BWUSER String 4 BWUser Textfield 25
UD_EDIR_ISUUser String 4 ISUUser Textfield 26
Now, when I tried saving the form, I got following error
Same Column exist with a different variant in current or previous form.
I also tried creating again a new version of process form and tried updating these field instead of re-creating them but I was able to update the FieldType only ( not able to update the Variant type and length).
If anyone know how to resolve this issue, please reply.

Thanks for the reply. I re-created these field in a new version but gave a different name this time like this:
UD_EDIR_SAP_BW_USER String 4 SAPBWUser TextField 25
UD_EDIR_SAP_ISU_USER String 4 SAPISUUser TextField 26
and it worked for me.

Master- Detail form, Total column in master block.

Hi all,
i have a invoice_master,block with the flowwing column inv_no,inv_date,inv_total.
and int he invoice_details, i have item_code,price,qty,total. i have to get SUM(total) into invoice_master.inv_total. inv_total i want to be a display item but database item.
which is the best way to get sum(total) into invoice_total. i tried with pre-insert on the invoice_details. some times it is not ok, when i do ay updations on details blocl etc.

What euginy has suggested is one good way.
The other way is to create a non-database item(lets say 'x') in detail block with number of items displayed property=1,calculation mode=summary,summary function=sum,summarised block=<invoice_details>,summarised item=total and the property of block <invoice_details> Query all records='YES'.
Then make the property ,copy value from item ,equal to 'x',of invoice_total field of invoice master.

If the form was created in Acrobat and you have Acrobat, you should be able to edit the fields by selecting: Tools > Forms > Edit
This is for Acrobat 11. If the PDF has security restrictions that prevent editing or was created with LiveCycle Designer, you won't be able to edit it in Acrobat. If security was applied, you'll need to know the password in order to remove it to allow editing.

Can I reload a totally "clean" version with nothing brought forward from the past. I was hacked and don't want to get Vorstan automatically on my system? Thanks

I got infected with Vorstran (or Vorstan?) many months ago. I'd love to reload Firefox now that I have everything straightened out on my computer, but in the past when I had to reload Firefox, all my old book marks, came back. (They must be saved to load for me the next time I heed to reload??) Not wanting to get Vorstran back on a reload, I have hesitated to try to reload as when it comes in, it infects all browsers, overwrites my backups and generally locks itself in the system Can I get a totally clean version of Firefox to load to completely start over?? I don't want to bring anything forward from the past at all. No book marks, favorites, folders, nothing. Can that be done somehow so I can finally again use my favorite browser? My old email that is now closed, was "[email protected]". I had to change it to the current one "[email protected]" How would I go about getting a totally clean version of firefox? Thanks

if you are absolutely, 100%, completely certain that you want to start from scratch (after having made sure that your system is clean of the malware);
To completely remove your old profile, you must manually delete the Firefox folder;
# Click the Windows Start button, and select Run….
# Type in %APPDATA% in the Run prompt then click OK.
# Open the Mozilla folder.
# Delete the Firefox folder.
Next, install a clean copy of Firefox from ([https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/new/ link]).

Tab numbers appear obscuring data entry, and sometimes program crashes
Tab numbers disappear if I remove AcroForm.api plug-in, but I can no longer fill in form

I just ran into the problem as well. To resolve it, I had to open the form in Acrobat then delete and recreate the fields what are not showing text. I know this is a pain but it seems to be the only way to fix the problem. Going forward, I'm either going to have to upgrade the acrobat program to version X or stop using the form wizzard. It seems that fields created with the wizzard act weird in reader x. Either that or wait for what ever the bug is in reader x to be fixed.
This fix works for all fields except digital signature which in reader X does not do anything when clicked.

Fillable form appears blank when completed

when a client returns a completed fillable form the fields appear to be blank. When clicking on a field i can see that response, but only 1 field at a time if i click on them Why does this happen? How can it be solved?

If the user fills out the form using Preview on a Mac (instead of Acrobat/Reader), I believe it will exhibit the symptoms you describe. Reader still cannot save fillable forms

I'm using LiveCycle Designer to create a fillable form that I wish to have sent back to me as a pdf or for the user to save the completed form locally. I have "Enabled Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" under the advanced tab. However, when I send the fillable form to my users with reader, sometimes they cannot even fill in the form because it says that the form has been altered since the rights were enabled(which it hasn't) and at other times, they can fill out the form and save it, but the saved file is just a blank form(They're not choosing Save a Copy). I do not wish to use LifeCycle ES Reader Extension because this is a small venture and I don't technically have a server I can access. Can someone give me some clue as to what I might still be doing wrong?

Sorry.. I thought I replied to this message earlier. Apparently not. In any event, Adobe Reader 9 is being used. There is no script that changes the appearance of the form as far as I'm aware. I downloaded a form from the form gallery.. and enabled the usage rights and then emailed it to myself. When I opened it on my laptop, it told me that the document had been altered since it had been saved(which it hadn't) and wouldn't let me fill in the form or save it.

With Acrobat 10 and later you can try the steps below.
1) click on tools on the right hand side
2) Go to forms

Making fillable forms usable for Reader users

I create fillable forms in Adobe Acrobat X Pro and I need to know how to make it so that they can be filled out and saved (in their filled-out form) by users of Adobe Reader. I have tried the advice in this article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/X/pro/using/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7e0d.w .html, but when I save them as Reader-extended pdfs and then open them in Reader, I can't fill them out. If I save them as Reader-extended pdfs and then choose "save a copy", the resulting copy, when opened in Reader XI, can be filled out and saved, but it doesn't work in Reader X. I need a solution that works for all recent Reader versions!
I am about to tear my hair out over this issue! I just need our clients to be able to fill out forms and save them with the data still in them in Reader!

Working solution for "Can't save data to a PDF using Adobe Reader 11 (Dynamic form created in LiveCycle ES3, extended using Adobe Pro X)"
I've been reading the posts in this thread and other threads, and many users seem to have a "similar" problem with data being put in to an "Extended PDF", but that data not being saved when opened in Adobe Reader.
This issue has been happening at my place of work as well and I have found a work around.
Firstly, let me explain what we have in place:
Windows 7
Adobe LiveCycle ES3 (10.0.2)
Adobe Acrobat Pro X (10.1.10)
Adobe Reader (11.0.06)
Adobe Extension Server 9
The Steps leading up to the issue:
I created a Dynamic form using LiveCycle ES3
Saved the XFA file to a Dynamic PDF
Opened the PDF in Acrobat Pro X, and extended it (and saving under a new file name)*
Open the PDF in Reader 11 and open the extended PDF, enter some data, save the PDF and close Reader
Re-open Reader and the previously saved PDF with my data in it
Once I re-open the file, the data is gone
The solution (in my case):
(first 3 steps are the same as above)
I created a Dynamic form using LiveCycle ES3
Saved the XFA file to a Dynamic PDF
Opened the PDF in Acrobat Pro X, and extended it (and saving under a new file name)
Open Acrobat Pro X (not Reader), then open the extended PDF*
Enter some data, and save the form normally and give it a new name
Re-open the PDF form with Acrobat Pro X, with the saved data (which the data should be there), then delete the data I entered, then save the form.
Open Adobe Reader XI, open the same PDF that "I saved from Acrobat Pro X", then "cleared" the data from it (not the original PDF I extended)
Enter some data, and then save the file
Re-open Reader, the same PDF, and the data should now be holding (not empty)
*Even if I use the Adobe Extension Server to extend the PDF, the data still does not save from Reader.
My guess as to why this is happening(?)
I never had this issue when I was creating my forms using LiveCycle ES2.
I am guessing that ES3 somehow sets different security/document/property settings when I save the XFA document to a PDF. When I extended the PDF afterwards using Acrobat Pro X, something "under the covers" of Acrobat Pro X breaks or resets the properties of the PDF.
By re-opening the PDF in Acrobat Pro X, entering data, then saving the PDF under a new name, then going back and removing the data I entered; it seems to set new security/property/document settings that Adobe Reader 11 can handle?
I've had to follow this same process each time I edit or create a form in LiveCycle, with a 100% success rate. With that being said, I have not seen what happens if the form I create is simple and "not dynamic".
Hope this "rather bizarre" solution is helpful to some?

Hopefully can quickly answer these questions because I need to get this out by tomorow night :/ I am new to creating Adobe Acrobat Fillable forms, my yearbook adviser wanted to make the yearbook/journalism application a pdf fillable form so I went with the flow. Now I am having issues. I created it with Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.0 if that helps
1. How do I get individual checks? they all check on the same answers, I need individuality lol. I know radio buttons is jus one chance so thats why I decided against them
2. How does one do a submit button exactly?
3. Somehow, I got to the step to distribute the forms but it says error licensing issue? Any ideas?

If using check boxes, you need to give each a different field name if you want them to behave independent of one another. You can create a group where at most on in the group can be selected, similar to a radio button group, by giving each the same field name but different export value.
For #2, it depends on the details of what you want to do. A PDF form can be set up to submit to a web server or to initiate an email with the form data for the entire form attached to the email. If you want Reader users to be able to save the filled-in form and/or submit the entire filled-in PDF, the form has to be Reader-enabled in Acrobat.
For #3, please provide the exact error message.

Invoice Forms created with Adobe X - default value for "total" column should be blank

I am new to the forum and just finding my way around. Thank you for any help.
I've created an invoice template in Word, then imported it into Adobe X Pro to turn it into a form. Pretty simple, but one thing is troubling me. I have the usual description, quantity, price each, and total columns. The "total" columns are defaulting with a "0" in them, and I'd prefer they default blank unless an entry is made on that line. I have right-clicked the "total" fields properties and the default values are blank already, but a zero still shows up. I know it can be done because one of my earlier forms defaults to a blank space until I entered something on that line. Then it calculated. How can I make the "total" column blank unless something is entered there?
Secondly, when I save a form and want to go back to make changes, I'm not seeing how to do this. It seems to save as a .pdf, and if I want to modify the form portion I have to start all over from scratch. What am I missing?

I've entered the script, and no change. The "total" columns still show a (zero) 0 even when I have not entered anything in that line.
For example:
Description             Qty     Unit Price     Total
                                                                         0
                                                                         0
                                                                         0
etc... all the day down the form.
I'd like the zeroes not to appear when there is nothing on the Description lines.
Incidentally, when selecting fields to use for calculations for the "total" column, we're supposed to place a check mark in the box of the fields to be calculated - and I can't CLICK in them. I have to use the space bar. Is that how it is supposed to work?
