Filter a Many-to-Many query in Hibernate

I'm working with Hibernate and I'm in trouble with some "simple SQL" query, but no a simple HQL query -for me.
I have what you should think a one-to-many relationship, Person and PhoneNumber. For misterious reasons that I don't know somebody build a Many-to-Many relation.
I build my HBM mapping file for Person and PhoneNumber with a simple "Person -> many-to-many property".
What I've to do now is filter the Person list by some PhoneNumber.
like
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder( );
sb.append( "from Person p " );
sb.append( "join p.pnumbers number " );
//HELP HERE
Query query = session.createQuery( sb.toString( ) );
List list = query.list( );In old style SQL the query could be like this:
SELECT P.*
FROM PERSON,
(SELECT * FROM PHONENUMBER PN WHERE PN.NUMBER IN (1,2,3,4,5)) N
WHERE P.ID = PN.PERSON_IDAnyone knows how to make that H-query ?

If I have understood your query correctly you have a custom entity, lets say A which has many to many relationship with both account and contact. And you want to have say a sub-grid of custom entity A on contact form where Custom Entity A is associated with
Contact's parent account.
This can not be handled OOB as per best of my knowledge. You may have to write a code to achieve that.

Hope it helps!

    That's hard to say. One second for CPU is quite high time and CPU can do lot of work in that time. again, this is relative and depends on what the query is.
    The biggest bottleneck in performance is - Disk IO system. In general, if  the required data is in memory, it can help significantly in improving the performance.
    Remember, CPU will be doing other processing work while it is fetching the data from disk.
    What you need to is  - load test or stress your server. There are some tools available for you to do it.
    RML : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/944837?wa=wsignin1.0
    distributed replay : https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff878183.aspx

    read this : http://www.brentozar.com/archive/2012/06/load-test-sqlserver/
    You also need to look at Max worker thread limitations. this depends on the server configuration(64 bit/32 bit) and other factors...
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187024%28v=sql.105%29.aspx
    one problem that can happend is thread pool starvation where there are too many connections
    happening if your server cannot keep up with the workload.. like if your cpu is working in processing the queries and cannot accept new connections..
    watch this good youtube video on thread pool starvatioin :

  • E-mail PROBLEM:  I get this: Reason: Error in sieve filter: Too many notifys specified

    I am using a MacBook Pro and an iPhone.  I always had success in getting e-mails pushed to the phone.  Suddenly, every time I receive an e-mail, I get another one from the postmaster saying: Reason: Error in sieve filter: Too many notifys specified.
    I do receive the e-mail simultaneously.
    However, I no longer get any e-mails pushed to my iPhone.
    Anybody have any suggestions?

  • How to retrieve dynamic filter value submitted from control query to .....

    How to retrieve dynamic filter value submitted from control query to broadcast query.....
    I'm trying to change the hierarchy version determined by a userexit variable in the broadcast query.
    The Hierarchy Version should be dependent on the input filter delivered by the bursting query.
    But how do I catch the dynamic filter value which has been submitted by the bursting query,
    with other words:  where does the bursting query store it's out put while sequentially starting the broadcast query value by value?
    BTW: the filter value from the bursting query appears under "dynamic filter values" in the information of the broadcast query...
    Any thoughts are welcome!

    Further information,
    Report is used via webi only, not Xcelsius or Dashboard.
    Report is consuming BI Web Services.
    Although we can pass in prompt values to BI Services, I couldn't find if we could pass a variable or dimension object into this field. Anyone knows?

  • Date filter is coming in physical query

    Hi,
    I have following problem,please help me.
    1.My OBI in connecting Vertica Database through ODBC 3.5.
    2.It's working fine for all report and if I give date filter condition then in physical query ,which is sending by OBI to Vertica doesn't have date filter condition:
    Ex: I have Call Type,and Date as dimension table and Call Mesures as fact table
    when I am selecting in answer select Call type name,measure1 for a particula Call type='Dropped'
    Physical Query generated by OBI as
    Select Call type name,mesure 1 from call_type_dim a,call_measures b where a.call_type_key=b.call_type_key and call_type_name='Dropped'
    But when I am loking for particular calandar date(for 07/27/2009:
    it's generating following query:
    Select Call type name,mesure 1 from call_type_dim a,call_measures b,date c where a.call_type_key=b.call_type_key and call_type_name='Dropped' and c.calandar_date_key=b.calandar_date_key
    But in logical query it's showing calandar_date='07/27/2009'
    I am expecting OBI should generate query:
    Select Call type name,mesure 1 from call_type_dim a,call_measures b,date c where a.call_type_key=b.call_type_key and call_type_name='Dropped' and c.calandar_date_key=b.calandar_date_key and c.calandar_date='07/27/2009'
    Where I have done wrong ,please help for Oracle DB i.e OCI 10g ,it's generating correct physical query

    Check cache settings.
    prefix this in prompt
    set variable disable_cache_hit=1;
    btw: Did you get a chance to look at https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2594287

    Debug level Hibernate log excerpt:
    Included in the above description.

    That's not the right mapping for the 1:m relationship in Hibernate.
    First of all, I believe the recommendation is to have a separate .hbm.xml file for each class, so you should have one for Parent and Child.
    Second, you'll find the proper syntax for a one-to-many relationship here:
    http://www.hibernate.org/hib_docs/v3/reference/en/html/tutorial.html#tutorial-associations
    See if those help.
    The tutorial docs for Hibernate are quite good. I'd recommend going through them carefully.

  • How to display a 1 to many query result in a single row?

    Hi,
    I want to display a 1 to many relationship in a query in just one row. The current result is that I get more than 1 rows. How can I display it in one column with the additional attribute in a column, without repeating? Thank you.
    Select s.student, t.teacher from student_table s, teacher_table t where s.id = t.student_id
    Result
    Student Teacher
    John Doe Larry Woe
    John Doe Mary Moe
    I would rather get a result like this:
    Result
    Student Teacher 1 Teacher 2
    John Doe Larry Woe Mary Woe
    Edited by: Samantha on May 18, 2011 2:48 PM

    Hi,
    Will all Students have exactly two Teachers?
    If not picture your sample with two more Students.
    One having 1 Teacher
    One having N Teachers
    Think about N, what will it be? - How would you create a table with N columns?
    If you can't easily answer above, re-consider what you are trying.
    That said, it could still be done - even if all Students do not have exactly two Teachers - and is called Pivot a dynamic number of columns.
    Examples are in FAQ
    SQL and PL/SQL FAQ
    Still a bad idea, with or without known number of teachers
    Regards
    Peter

  • Apply video filter to many clips at once?

    I have a 'sub' sequence that I have embedded into my main sequence and I want to apply a video filter mask (feathered oval) to make the sequence look like its projected from an old film projector. I don't want to apply the filter to each individual clip in my sub sequence because there are many. What is the best approach to doing this? thanks!
    (FCP 5.12)

    OK - so I used the word 'embedded' and I think I meant 'nested' - so how exactly do I apply the effect to the nested sequence? I tried and can't seem to make it work - e.g. when I double click on the sequence to open it in the viewer, it opens the nested sequence as its own sequence instead - I can't open it in the viewer to apply the filter.

  • One to many relationship in hibernate

    I am very much new to hibernate,
    for testing purpose I am using JPA annotations and hibernate.
    While testing one to many relationship , I got a problem

      Session session = sessionFactory.openSession();
      session.beginTransaction();
      session.persist(order);
      session.getTransaction().commit();
      session.close();
    I can see Order and Order Line are get persisted but Order Line table don't have order_id populated automatically. Please help me out.

    That is because you're not setting it, obviously. Nowhere in your code are you actually populating the order property of the orderlines.

  • Quick filter misses many matches. Why?

    The Quick Filter is missing many matches, even for email created minutes before. Oddly, this only seems to be happening in "Sent" folders. Folders have 500 to 1000 messages. Inbox has many more and the quick filter does seem to work there. Quick filter misses matches in the body text only. Matches subject and other fields correctly. Does not miss all matches in the body ... older messages appear to be matched more often.
    I tried normal search and it does find all the expected messages. I also tried rebuilding the global database with no change in behavior.
    Any suggestions?
    (Version 31.0 Windows 7 machine)

    ''Quick filter misses matches in the body text only.''
    Has the message body been downloaded for those messages?

  • How to filter the output of a query according to the language

    Hi guys,
    I have the following tables joined togheter:  VBAK ,VBKD ,TVZBT.
    The problem is, the output gives any record as many times as many languages exist in table TVZBT
    I tried with the following instruction but it doesn't work,no matter in which event I put it:
    check tvzbt-spras eq sy-langu.
    Thanks,Christian

    Hello Christian Baldari,
    You have to add that check in where clause like :
    select ....
    from ...
    where
    <b>tvzbt~spras eq sy-langu</b>.
    why because in ur select query you are using innerjoin operation. so you are using TILD (~) operator for alias. you have to check the spras using the alias as mentioned above.
    Reward If Hepful.

    Sasidhar Reddy Matli.

  • How to filter hierarchy node in BEX query designer

    Dear experts
    We are working on FI balance sheet with hierarchy infoobject 0GLACCEXT. Example of our balance sheet is as follow:
    Parent Node A = 20
         Sub-parent Node A1 = 10
             Leaf A11 = 5
                 Leaf A12 = 5
    Parent Node B = 20
         Sub-parent Node B1 = 10
                   Leaf B11 = 5
                   Leaf B12 = 5
    We require only:
        Sub-parent Node A1 = 10
        Leaf B12 = 5
    So I filter those out in BEX restriction;  however, after we examine the report in tcode RSRT, "Sub-parent Node A1" is not shown in BEX Report, and the result is as follow:
    Parent Node B = 5
         Sub-parent Node B1 = 5
                 Leaf B12 = 5
    Are there solutions for us to show merely A1 and B12 ?

    Hi Chu
    Try the following steps.
    Initial Output
    In this example I will restrict the query for only displaying Node 8603 and leaf 9000
    Proceed to restrict the Characteristic. Please be aware of the difference between hierarchy nodes and leaf characteristic values. Also set the Hierarchy display properties to expand up to level 1.
    Execute the query again:
    Please be aware that users will still be able to expand node 8603 and see the lower level nodes/leaf. In order to restrict users from doing this set up users authorizations.

  • How can ew add filter in Dataset of MDX Query

    Hi,
    I am working on TFS 2010 Report with Report Builder 3.0
    I need to fetch data on basis of Start Task Date(means when user start their task).
    So i have added a new field in a TFS Work Item Template with name StartTaskDate.
    Now i need to fetch the report FromTaskDate to TOTaskDate(Date Range Filter).
    so how can we do this with filter option?
    Can any body help me on this.
    Thanks

    Hi rohitnegi09,
    If you want @FromTaskDate and @TOTaskDate parameters are Date/Time data types, please refer to my last reply in the following thread:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/db75abb9-2250-463a-8ef3-70426f617329/mdx-report-on-date-range?forum=sqlreportingservices
    If you want @FromTaskDate and @TOTaskDate parameters are Text data types, we can directly type the following MDX query in the dataset:
    select
    {[Measures].[Internet Sales Amount]
    } on columns,
    {[Date].[Date].members} on rows
    from(
    select
    STRTOMEMBER("[Date].[Date].&["+@FromTaskDate+"]"):STRTOMEMBER("[Date].[Date].&["+@ToTaskDate+"]")
    ) on columns
    from [Adventure Works]
    If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Filter by "Result from another query" option not available in Webi

    Hi all
    I am trying to filter one query by zipcode based on the results of a previously run query in the same report. However this option is not available on the drop down when I drag zipcode into the filter pane. I am restricted to the options: Constant, Value(s) from a list, Prompt or Object.
    I have "use subqueries enabled" within my universe and the data is held in an RMDBS (i.e. it is not an OLAP universe) so I expected this functionallity to be available.
    I am using XI 3.2 and Java version 1.6.0.15, i.e. up to date.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sharon

    Sharon,
    Here is one method to achieve your objective, however, it involves the use of Merge Dimensions.  Here goes:
    In the Edit Query mode, build two queries, where the first query has all the objects, to include Zip code, and the second query has the zip code, filtered for the one at hand.  (you probably have done this portion already)
    In the Edit Report mode, think of your data set as Query1 (all the data objects you want) and Query2 (zip code and filtered on that zip code) and thus you'll have Query1.zip and Query2.zip.  If you build a grid containing all the data you want from Query1, then simply add Query2.zip to that grid, voila, the grid will be "filtered" due to the "merge" that occurs under the wire.  The 'problem' here is that you have two columns that are repetitive and there is no inherent way to "hide" a column in WebI other than masking the column with white on white (font/borders) or some folks sometimes apply Alterters to achieve the same.
    Best of luck in moving forward with your task.
    Thanks,
    John
