Filter/query using a List ?

Hi,
I'm trying to create a query using a filter where the criteria is equality on a list (ie. an ordered collection).
I.e
Using the ReflectionExtractor where the method returns an ArrayList and using the EqualsFilter, eg EqualsFilter(ArrayList.., ArrayList..)
This produces an exception (ClassCastException) where using a set instead of a list works..
Is there a recommended solution to do this as I can't see an existing filter that supports this, have I missed something, do I create a custom filter, do I use a comparator for the extractor (is this efficient)..
Thanks
Jesper

Hi Jesper,
you need not extend the EqualsFilter to use indexes.
You just need to ensure that the equals() method of the return value (the specialized collection) does what you want, and also that you have the appropriately typed collection on both sides of the comparison. Naturally you also need to implement hashCode() by the collection class appropriately, so that it always returns the same hash code for instances for which equals() return true.
One side is provided by the extractor/method return value, the other is provided by the parameter to the filter constructor.
All the EqualsFilter does when using an index is looking up a collection of cache keys from a hash-based map keyed by the extracted value (i.e. the return value of your method). These are the keys to the cached values from which the extracted value is extracted from.
It's not Coherence which has to support out of the box ordered collections. Coherence supports using the equals() method.
If equals() is not implemented how you would like to do equality checking, then obviously you will not get the expected result. By default a list equals method uses the default Object.equals() check which is reference equality. This will always yield false in a pass-by-value environment.
You have to implement equals() and hashCode() properly for all object types which you want to use as an indexed method return value.
Best regards,
Robert

  • Missing right parenthesis error when querying using a list of values

    Would anyone know why this statement gives the ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis error..?
    SELECT FIELD_X
    FROM TABLE_Y
    WHERE FIELD_X IN (
    'AJD'
    'RED'
    'ADF'
    'MOI'
    The reason why I wanted the AJD, RED, ADF, etc values on top of each other is because I need to add the single quotes around those terms in Excel before pasting them into the SQL statement (there are actually over 400 terms so above just shows a subset)

    Fortunately the SQL syntax is documented in the SQL manual

  • User constructed query using dropdowns

    Hi all,
    I am trying to create a sql query using select lists with an application page. My problem is that written as a statement it would say;
    select count (distinct id)
    from requests
    where date_raised between '01 JUN 07' and '30 JUN 07';
    but if try to have a select list passing 'date_raised' or 'date_closed' it still works but if I put another for 'between' and 'not between' it has a problem, for example;
    select count (distinct id)
    from requests
    where :P5_SL_RAISED_CLOSED :P5_SL_BETWEEN :P5_START_DATE and :P5_END_DATE
    and date_closed is null or date_closed >:P5_END_DATE;
    Could someone help me please, I searched the forums and nobody seems to have done this. (Or maybe it's so simple they just didn't post!)
    Thanks,
    Jay

    Hi Jay,
    you can accomplish this in following way:
    change your report type to SQL Query(PL/SQL function body returning SQL Query),
    then in region source try this:
    begin
    return 'select count (distinct id)
    from requests where ' || :P5_SL_RAISED_CLOSED ||' '|| :P5_SL_BETWEEN || ' to_date('''|| :P5_START_DATE ||''',''DD-MM-YYYY'') AND to_date(''' || :P5_END_DATE || ''',''DD-MM-YYYY'') and date_closed is null or date_closed > to_date('''|| :P5_END_DATE || ''',''DD-MM-YYY'')';
    end;
    Of course, you should change DD-MM-YYYY to date format used in your fields.
    Hope this helps.

    Hello,
    I am trying to use the OData Filter query. to filter data records from the OData Service, using Date range for filters.

    Hi Jitendra,
    Once again, thank you for your help.
    I am able to filter the records using a date range.
    I am sharing the information, just in case anyone out there might need it.
    The OData Filter Query for Date Range (i.e. with Two date values) will return the results only if the OData Back-end Service is modified to accommodate such filter requests.
    This has to be done in ABAP.
    Please refer the following links which talks more about the Back-end ABAP Service being modified to ensure that the service returns records of data, as per the date range filter query

  • Using record filter query to handle behavior of facets

    Hi all,
    I know for multiselect/single dimensions we should always perform a dimension query to populate the behaviour of our faceted navigation , but i still want to understand if instead of dimension query i perform a record filter query on my facets click then what all flexibility will i loose with the multi select/single select facets.

    Edited by: IKumar on Apr 7, 2012 11:48 AM

    Hi.
    In general record filters and navigation provide similar functionality (faceted search). Depending on your requirements, you can use one or the other or even a combination. There are two things related to records filters that you need to be aware of when considering their use in a scenario like yours.
    1. Record filters are applied as the very first step in the query evaluation. They are used to define a sub-set of the indexed data for further query evaluation. This can have an effect on spell corrections and DYM suggestions. Since the MDEX calculates spell corrections and DYM suggestions from the actual data and not based on an external dictionary, you may find that these are more "strict" when using record filters since a smaller data set is used for their evaluation. That said, I have not yet seen this become an issue in real projects for the last 8 years.
    2. Record filters do not give you breadcrumb information. Incorporating the record filter as a breadcrumb will require some custom coding (custom = can't copy-paste from the reference app) and could become a bit complicated.

  • The default value as "None" for the report filter which is Value List type?

    Hello,
    I want to know is it possible to make the default value as "None" for the report filter which is Value List data type?
    For example:The Project Classification Value List value type which have many value like "Supplier Rationalization" "Category Sourcing" "Contract Regegotiation" etc, and the value "Supplier Rationalization" is in the frist positon in the value list. When i use "Project Classification " as a report filter, the value "Supplier Rationalization" displayed as default value. And in the value list box in report filter of Project Classification , there is a value "None" which should be added automatically by system. So i manually filled the default value with "None" in Filter Prompt screen, but it does not work. After i display the report ,the Project Classification filter still use the ""Supplier Rationalization" as the default value.
    My current ESO version is 5.1. I tried other ESO version like 5.15, if i manaully give a default value "None" in Filter Prompt screen for filter Project Classification, then the default value is "None". It works well.
    Does anybody know if it's possible to do the same thing in ESO 5.1?
    Thanks & Regards,
    David
    Edited by: David Gao on Aug 11, 2010 4:06 AM

    Hi David -
    This is possible, but the technique is not too obvious...
    To make "None" be the default choice for a query definition filter parameter of type value list type, you need to set the default value of the filter parameter to the following:
    <internal id of value list type>:616:NULL
    For example, I believe you will see that the internal id of the Project Classification value list type is 51, so the default value of the filter parameter would be:
    51:616:NULL
    I hope this helps.

  • Why is my query using the wrong index?

    Hi SQL Tuning experts....

  • ABAP query using logical database KDF is not populating custom fields

    Hi Experts ,
    I created two following queries
    1.       VENDORCATKDF – uses KDF logical database
    2.       VENDORCATLFA1 – uses table = LFA1
    I’m pulling the same information in both queries:
    ·         Vendor Number
    ·         Country
    ·         Vendor Name
    ·         Vendor Category  (custom fields added to LFA1)
    The results for the query that uses the logical database KDF is incorrect.  It doesn’t pull in the flag on the custom field LFA1-ZMRO.   Even though the logical database KDF is made up of the table LFA1 and has these fields.
    Is there something that can be done – so that all of these “custom” category fields under LFA1 (such as LFA1-ZZMRO) – get pulled into queries – when we use the logical database KDF ?

    Hi,
    I have got the error removed by ensuring that fields from one table are a part of one line ( taking help of ruler) only. But the underlying problem remains, the output is not ALV but List output.
    I do not think having additional fields in the query is reason for this.
    Is it bcoz iI am adjusting the output length of columns to ensure no hierarchical error ?
    Can we not have a query using LDB which is shown as SAP List?

  • Report using Shuttle List

    Greetings
    I am using Apex Version 4.2
    At first, I had created an item P31_JOB_CATEGORY that was a radio button. Upon selecting a value for the radio button, a report was generated. The query is as follows
    select a, b, c
    from Table A
    where A.Job_Category = :P31_JOB_CATEGORYThis gave me the desired report. Now I want to change the radio button to a shuttle list so multiple values can be selected for the job category and generate a the report accordingly. Instead of one value, I can have 2, 3, or all. How would I alter my query to change this? would I have to use an array. I was thinking some type of "Where....In.." clause.
    Thanks in advance!

  • SSRS dataset filter expression using OR

    I have a dataset that I need to set a filter for. What I need the filter to do is check 3 different fields to see if either one of them are in a parameter. The parameter is multi-value. So, I have a parameter set to 1, 2, 3. I need the dataset to return
    records where either Field A, B, or C are IN 1, 2, 3.
    Anyone know how to do this? I tried to have the filter expression = Fields!A.Value or Fields!B.Value or Fields!C.Value then the dataset filter operator "IN" and the dataset filter value = Parameter, but I just get an error on the dataset filter
    (cannot evaluate filter expression error)

    Hello,
    Mulitple expressions added to SSRS dataset filter are evaluated as AND (Expr1 AND Expr1 AND Expr3). If you are looking for a OR like Expr1 Or Expr2 Or Expr3 then you can use this solution explained below.
    Dataset Query used for this test:
    select *
    from (values ('Row1',1,1,4),('Row2',2,1,3),('Row3',3,1,2),('Row4',3,2,2),('Row5',5,3,2),('Row6',5,6,7),('Row7',2,6,7)) x(DataRow,A,B,C)
    Report Parameter :
    Defined a multi select report parameter named "Parameter1" with string datatype and added values 1, 2, 3.
    Dataset Filter Expression:
    =Filter(Parameters!Parameter1.Value,CStr(Fields!A.Value)).Length + Filter(Parameters!Parameter1.Value,CStr(Fields!B.Value)).Length + Filter(Parameters!Parameter1.Value,CStr(Fields!C.Value)).Length
    The expression above uses the Filter function in SSRS to check if the field A\B\C has any match in the parameter1 mutli select parameter. If yes the length property will return a value > 0. Repeat the expression for all the other fields and add the Values
    for length property.
    Use > operator in the filter dialogue box
    and value as 0 as shown in the snapshot below.
    The output is shown below. Row 6 is missing as Field A, B or C doesnt have 1, 2,3 as values. If this is the output you are looking for this solution should work for you.

  • How create animated power view reports using sharepoint list as a data source in sharepoint 2010?

    Hi All,
    I got a client requirement to create reports using SharePoint List as data source. The report should show reflection depends on values changed (I mean animation).
    I have heard about the power view/power pivot which does this kind of animations in reports.
    Can someone please guide me on creating reports which shows animations
    In power view/power pivot using SharePoint List as data source in SharePoint 2010.
    Thanks in advance.
    MercuryMan

    Hi MercuryMan,
    Yes, Power View, a feature of SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 or SharePoint 2013 Enterprise Edition, is an interactive data exploration, visualization, and presentation experience.
    It provides multiple views featuring tiles, slicers, a chart filter, and a number of visualizations, including cards, small multiples, and a bubble chart. So, we can use Power View to do intuitive ad-hoc reporting for business users such as data analysts, business
    decision makers, and information workers.
    Currently, Power View report only supports two types of data models: PowerPivot Worksheet, and data models based on Analysis Services Tabular Model or Multidimensional Cube.
    In your scenario, you can create PowerPivot worksheets using SharePoint List as data source, deploy the PowerPivot worksheet to a SharePoint Library or PowerPivot Gallery, and then generate Power View reports based on the PowerPivot worksheets on the SharePoint
    site.
    To use SharePoint List as data source in Excel PowerPivot, you can refer to the following resource:

    I'm sorry, I think I've misled you. I suggested that you perform two queries and then take the intersection of the results. You could do this, but the solution to your query is much simpler. I'll correct my previous message.
    Your query is very simple to implement. You should perform the first part of query to get a cursor on the index for 'a' for the "1<=t.a<=2" part. Then simply iterate over that cursor, and process the entities where the "3<=t.b<=5" expression is true. You don't need a second index (on 'b') or another cursor.
    This is called "filtering" because you're iterating through entities that you obtain from one index, and selecting some entities for processing and discarding others. The white paper you mentioned has an example of filtering in combination with the use of an index.
    An alternative is to reverse the procedure above: use the index for 'b' to get a cursor for the "3<=t.b<=5" part of the query, then iterate and filter the results based on the "1<=t.a<=2" expression.
    If you're concerned about efficiency, you can choose the index (i.e., choose which of these two alternatives to implement) based on which part of the query you believe will return the smallest number of results. The less entities read, the faster the query.
    Contrary to what I said earlier, taking the intersection of two queries that are ANDed doesn't make sense -- filtering is the better solution. However, taking the union of two queries does make sense, when the queries are ORed. Sorry for the confusion.

  • Setting multiple values for query prompt: In List...

    Dear All,
    I have used "Radio Button" component which has labels like A, B and C. If user selects A then Radio button save 10 as its value on Excel and which being used in queries prompts. If user select B then Radio button save 20 on Excel at Destination cell and all queries use this for prompt value. But when user select C which is the for both values 10 and 20. No queries executed successfully, values are in String and I tried following values for C in excel
    "10,20"
    10,20
      '10,20'
    10;20
    '10','20'
    10 20
    But when I execute this query at Dashboard Query Panel and selects both 10 and 20 as Inputs since I'm using In List operator then the query executes perfectly. See below the query:
    SELECT   Table__1."0CALMONTH",   SUM(Table__1."0INV_QTY"),   SUM(Table__1."0NETVAL_INV"),   Table__1."0DOC_CURRCY" FROM   "SD_C_ZSDIC"."PUBLIC"."IC_ZSDIC"  Table__1 WHERE   (    Table__1."0CALDAY"  BETWEEN  {d '2014-01-01'}  AND  {d '2014-06-13'}    AND    Table__1."0ACCNT_GRP"  =  'ZLOC'    AND    Table__1."0COMP_CODE"  =  '1000'    AND    Table__1."0MATERIAL__0DIVISION"  IN  ('10','20')    AND    Table__1."0CALMONTH"  <>  0    AND    Table__1."REFERENCE_DATE"  =  {d '2014-06-13'}   ) GROUP BY   1,    4 HAVING   SUM(Table__1."0INV_QTY")  <>  0 ORDER BY   1
    1. In which format I should save value of C, so that I can have '10','20' for the query prompts value?
    2. Am I missing something or my format of C values at Excel sheet is not correct on?
    I will appreciate your reply in this regard.
    Many thanks!!!

    put the output of C
    in 2 cell
    for eg
    C1=10
    C2=20
    and map the 0MATERIAL__0DIVISION(prompt) to cell C1 and C2
    NOTE
    we have to write  formula in C1 and C2
    C1 = if radiobutton=b then 20 else 10.
    C2 = if radiobutton=c then 20 else ""
    map both cell c1 and c2 to the list prompt
    it will work

  • Search Results web part - Custom Query using "Value with a parameter from URL" inconsistent

    I have encountered what I think may be a bug, but I am hoping that there is something that I am missing.
    Within my search site, I have created a new search results page where I want to customize the "Search Results" web part query.  I can add in any number of property and keyword filters (using the "Build Your Query" dialog) without
    issue... until I add a filter that uses the QueryString property (the builder dialog calls this "Value with a parameter from URL").
    If I use {QueryString.MyParameterX} for filtering, it works beautifully in the query builder dialog.  I see the expected results in the search results preview pane, but as soon as I apply the changes things become inconsistent.
    If I close/reopen my browser and navigate to my page at http://myaddress/search/Pages/testresults.aspx?MyParameterX=test I see results.  If I then refresh the page, I get a "Nothing here matches your search" message.  I can then go to
    the same address but change one character to an uppercase character and get results.  Refreshing that same page again returns "Nothing here matches your search".  I can only get search results one time per uniquely cased URL without having
    to close/reopen my browser.  This behavior was seen on both Firefox and IE.
    Finally, I found that if I instead navigate to http://myaddress/search/testresults?MyParameterX=test, it always returns results.  This, unfortunately isn't the best solution for me... but it is a solution.
    Any insight that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated!  I would really like to be able to depend on this working in all logical cases (especially since the search center of other sites is set using the path all the way down to /Pages).
    Thanks!

    Hi, have you been able to solve this issue? I'm getting the same issue and I cant solve it (required CU is installed).
