Filtering Data returned to a Dynamic generated Parameter

Hi,
I have created a Dynamic Parameter - which generates data from a view and allows user's to select within the report.
I am looking to see if anyone knows any methodology on the control of data presented within this drop down list. All values are already unique.
The associated table where the data is controlled has a "retired" flag onto the field which hide the option from within the base application - I am trying to replicate this within the parameter prompt when the report is run.
Is there an ability to run an sql query whilst viewing the options - e.g. select description from tabel where retired='0'.
Thanks
Paul

Paul,
I'm not sure what exactly you are trying to do here. If you're basing the LOV on a view, the assumption would be that the view has been narrowed down to display only the option you want to display.
If that's not the case, say for example, the view was created for something else and it just so happened to be a good candidate for the LOV... You can use a Command as the data source of your LOV.  Just create a new Command and enter the SQL that gets you the desired record set.
HTH,
Jason

    It takes a lot of time to come up for some reports and is quite quick on others. Has any folowed this approach and encountered the same issue.

  • How to store data when it is dynamically generated

    Hi,
    I am designing a page in that dates get auto populated based on the selection of two dates.
    if start date = 1-Jan-2011 and end date = 4-Jan-2011.
    4 columns get generated based on the dates selected. columns like 1-Jan-2011, 2-Jan-2011. 3-Jan-2011, 4-Jan-2011. these are the columns generated. If dates are changed again dates will populated based on the start and end date.
    Below these dates 3 rows are generated
    Columns 1-jan-2011 2-jan-2011 3-jan-2011 4-jan-2011
    rows null null null null
    How can i store these data please suggest me
    Thanks
    Sudhir

    Sudhir, Pls enclose your code within <b>&#123;code&#125;</b> tags, this makes it readable.
    Some observations:
    <li>1. SELECT ROWNUM,
    ..FROM STUDY S, COHART C WHERE S.ID = C.S_ID ORDER BY S.NAME would lead to errors since the rownum would be fetched before ordering and hence your rows will not be correct row number sequence.
    Due to this f01(1) might fetch the 4th row's column instead of the first as u have wanted it.One method to avoid this, is by
    SELECT ROWNUM,A.*
    ..FROM (SELECT * FROM STUDY S, COHART C WHERE S.ID = C.S_ID ORDER BY S.NAME ) A<li>2. I don't see any primary column which would used to identify the row in the DB
    <li>3. The difference between 2 dates need not always be a perfect integer, So i hope u have kept this in mind while writing the code.
    <li>Now to your question of accessing the dates for selected rows.(fix the issues mentioned above first)
    Iterating over the F01 array(using i)
    APEX_APPLICATION.G_f01(i) would contain the rownum of each checked row.
    As per your code you can have multiple date columns in the same row with the array index(4)
    I am not sure how to obtain the number of dynamic date columns in every row.
    Anyway while processing u would have to do this calculation and suppose the variable l_no_of_days has this value.
    So ur j'th date column(u can have j=1..l_no_of_days) for the i'th row can be obtained as
    APEX_APPLICATION.G_f01(i) = actual row number
    APEXAPPLICATION.G_f01(i) -1 )*l_no_of_days + j = column index of j'th column for this row_
    APEX_APPLICATION.G_f04(APEX_APPLICATION.G_f01(i) -1 )*l_no_of_days + j) would have the date column value
    As an example
    <1> texxt <1> <2> <3> <4>..
    <2> texxt <5> <6> <7> <8>..
    <3> texxt <9> <10> <11> <12>..
    <4> texxt <> <> <> <>..
    <5> texxt <17> <18> <19> <20>..
    In this case,l_no_of_days would be obtained as 4
    If 2 and 4 was checked, i =1..2
    f01(1) = 2
    1st checked row's, 1st dynamic column = f04( (2 -1)*4 + 1 ) = f04(5)
    1st checked row's, 3st dynamic column = f04( (2 -1)*4 + 3 ) = f04(7)
    2nd checked row's 5th column = f04( (5 -1)*4 + 5 ) = f04(24)
    Phew !!, feels like college mathematics ;) .
    Hope it was clear.

  • Filtering report data based on user login and Parameter fields

    Post Author: mronquillo
    CA Forum: General
    Hi,I am running a report that filters data based on the user login. To do this, I created a formula called @user that compares the login name (using the CurrentCEUserName field) and returns the user's name. If the user login is not a login specified in the if statements, it returns the parameter field "user_name":For example: if CurrentCEUserName = "loginname1" then "User's Name 1"else if CurrentCEUserName = "loginname2" then "User's Name 2" else if CurrentCEUserName = "loginname3" then "User's Name 3"  else if CurrentCEUserName = "loginname4" then "User's Name 4".. .else {?user_name}   In select expert, I have a condition which filters data based on the string returned from that formula:{Table.Name} = {@user}  This works fine and when the users run the report they only their own data. However, they are still prompted to choose a parameter field regardless if of the value returned by the @user formula. Oddly enough, regardless of what parameter field they choose, they will still only see their own data (i.e. if John chooses "Bob" from the parameter list, he will still only see John's data.)If I remove the "else {?user_name}" line from the @user formula, then the users are not prompted anymore. However, if they are not a "valid" user - that is, if any of the if statements in the formula are not true for their login name - then they will see no data. What I want to do is make the report ONLY prompt the user to choose a parameter field if their login name is not "valid". That is, if the @user formula is able to return a string value for their login name, then they will jump right into the report without being prompted to choose a parameter - otherwise, the user will be prompted to choose a name from the parameter list. I thought my formula would allow this (hence the "else" clause), but it seems that if a parameter field is present in any formula, then the report automatically prompts the user to choose a parameter. Is what I am trying to accomplish possible in CR (I'm using CR v10.0) or is there a better way to do what I am trying to do?Thanks in advance.

    try, or something like that
    (if CurrentCEUserName ={?user_name} then true else ({Table.Name} = {@user}) )

  • Placing a parameter for a report in header when no XML data returned

    Good Afternoon ~
    I have a request from a user that requires the need to place a reports parameters in the header of the report even though  the report may return no data.  Example of this would be a missing time card report.
    I have only seen the use of this when there is data returned.  If the report returns no data there is no XML.
    I have no idea how I would accomplish this.  Any suggestions I can get on this is much appreciated.  How would I capture the parameter used?
    Thank you much!

    Apparently I am not notified of these updates.    Sorry this took me a bit to get to you.
    The report data is using an Oracle Report to generate the XML.  All other formatting is done in BI  Publisher.

  • How to return efficiently filtered data

    Dear all,
    I have a database ( SQL server 2012) which is based from AW sample db where I took some sample table design to cover my issues.
    My database will host a big list of product organized in category and sub category. From my client application I will provide a FIlter UI where user can defined filter criteria like Price, category name, sub category, name for instance.
    I need to build a querry based on given criteria in order to return filter data in an efficient way. In order to get correct data back, based on db structure I will have to handle quite many joins.
    What is the proper way to get filtering data out ?
    -should I handle it from a single store procs and return the list of matching product ?
    -should I handle separate view for each criteria and merge them all in a single view ?
    - Any build in feature in SQL ?
    I have never use such efficient criteria constraint that I need to implement, thanks for help

  • Dynamically generating the ssrs dataset and filling the data into the dataset and binding it to ssrs report dynamically

    I have a work to do, in ssrs we are using server reports in our project. i am looking for dynamically generating the ssrs dataset and filling the data into the dataset and binding the dataset to ssrs report(RDL) dynamically.
    Getting the dataset dynamically has a solution by using Report Definition Customization Extension (RDCE), but the problem is binding that dataset to the report(RDL) dynamically was not there.
    Here is the reference for RDCE http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/355461/Dynamically-Pointing-to-Shared-Data-Sources-on-SQL#6
    I looked for binding the dataset to the report(RDL) dynamically and searched many sites but i did not get the solution. Can anyone help me here.
    Is there any custom assemblies or any Custom data processing extensions to work around. Please help.
    Thanks in advance

  • Can't view filtered VO properly in a dynamic region

    Hi all,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.0
    I have a view object (myVO) that has some view criterias (FilteredVO1, FilteredVO2, ecc.)
    In myPage I have a dynamic region in which I can view different fragments. These fragments contain filtered data (FilteredVO1, FilteredVO2, ecc.), but I always see all the data (myVO)
    If I run the application module, in FilteredVO1, FilteredVO2, ecc. I see the data properly (I see the filtered data, not all the data).
    Also if I run a normal page (without fragments) with a panel tab for every FilteredVO, I see the filtered (and not all) data.
    In myPageDef I have set the property "refresh" on "ifNeeded".
    What's the problem? Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Andrea

    Hi Andrea,
    Why do you want to set the refresh parameter? Is your task-flow has any parameters set..? Refresh parameter should be used only when you want the dynamic region to respond based on task-flow parameter. Otherwise, the dynamic region can automatically refresh based on different task-flow selection. So, precisely if you reset this param to default, it should work as expected provided these fragments uses different task-flows. See this document section [16.2 Creating ADF Dynamic Regions|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15051_01/web.1111/b31974/taskflows_regions.htm] for more info.

  • Making a dynamically generated field as Read Only

    Hi All,
    I am extending a standard CO and in that I wanted to make an entire table as read only. I checked by personalizing the page from front end, but as the items are dynamically generated fields , they are not visible in personalize page.
    So is there any way to cach these fields and make them read only programmatically.
    Thanks,
    Srikanth

    Hi Pratap,
    I have looked into the view source and took the name of a input type ( There is no ID for the field) and used it in findIndexedChild, but it returns a null. I guess this is happening is the current CO is a mere region level CO and it is not being given the access.
    The code in the class file is as follows :

  • Dynamically populated parameter clears previously entered parameters

    Software: Crystal Reports XI with MS SQL Server 2008
    I've created a report that asks for three parameters, 2 dates, and a string which is dynamically populated. The report has two tables added in the database expert.
    The first table is a command object which passes the two date parameters to a stored procedure:
    exec sp_MyStoredProcedure {?startdate},{?enddate}
    The second table is a stored procedure object used to populate the string parameter {?_users}. The criteria for the string parameter are:
    Prompt with Description only: False
    Allow multiple values: True
    Allow discrete values: True
    Allow range values: False
    This stored procedure object requires no parameters, and was originally a view in the database, but it the same problem occurs whether i dynamically populate the string parameter options from either a view or a stored procedure. I'd like to go back to using a view, as i do not need to pass any kind of parameters to the stored procedure
    The string parameter is used for defining the record selection formula:
    IF {Command.user_name} in {?_users} THEN true ELSE false.
    The two tables are not linked in the database expert, but linking them does not seem to solve the problem I am having with this report, the problem being this:
    No matter which order I set the  parameters, it always first displays a form showing only the prompts for the date values. After entering these, it then shows a form prompting for the date values again (the previously selected date information now cleared), along with the list of users from which to select. On this 2nd form, the parameters are displayed in the order I set using the field explorer option presented when I right click on the Paramter Fields heading. After entering the date parameter values a 2nd time, and selecting the users from the  dynamically generated list, the report performs as intended.

    Edited by: Duraplex on Nov 12, 2010 6:57 PM - After contacting the tech dept of my employer, they are applying a service pack update to my installation, I am hoping this resolves the issue. Will post an update as soon as I know more.
    Edited by: Duraplex on Nov 12, 2010 7:35 PM - After applying SP4 to my installation, the problem persists. I did note however that removing the string parameter and record selection formula, and then recreating them, does somewhat solve the issue temporarily - i still am presented with two forms, but the second form doesn't clear the previously entered date parameters. However,  once i save the report, and reload it, the problem manifests again and the date parameters are cleared when presented on the 2nd form. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem?
    Edited by: Duraplex on Nov 15, 2010 8:38 PM - Problem resolved by upgrading from Release 1 to Release 2.

    Hi,
    Once record status gets change for block you can not populate/repopulate the list item. Keep those list items as non-database item with different names and create different items as database orignal items. Than assign the values in WHEN-LIST-CHANGE trigger to the actual database items.

  • Dynamically generate the Column header

    Hi friends,
    I am using Binary Cache method for Export to Excel. I am using a separate method for generating the column headers. My question is : Is there a way to put the attribute names from the node directly instead of the one I am currently using.
      public java.util.Map getOrderColumnInfos( )
        //@@begin getOrderColumnInfos()
              //     Returns Header for the Table to be passed on to method toExcel()
              Map columnInfosMap = new LinkedHashMap();
    columnInfosMap.put(
                   IPrivateABC.ISearchResultstoExcelElement.ATTRIBUTE1,
                   "Name");
              columnInfosMap.put(
                   IPrivateABCSearchResultstoExcelElement.ATTRIBUTE2,
                   "Reference");
              columnInfosMap.put(
                   IPrivateABC.ISearchResultstoExcelElement.ATTRIBUTE3,
                   "Created By");
              columnInfosMap.put(
                   IPrivateABC.ISearchResultstoExcelElement.ATTRIBUTE4,
                   "Input Date");
              return columnInfosMap;
        //@@end
    Instead of putting the header texts, I want the attribute names to be displayed on the Excel file headers. Please let me know if this is possible.

    Hello Rasim,
    The idea was to create the Column headers dynamically. This means basically at runtime the Application would recognize what is there in the screen and use it for Column headers. This involved reading the from the View Table->The Table Column Element-> The header and saving those values in a Context. This context is then mapped to the Excel Custom Controller and then all we have to do is read from the context, Convert to XML (The usual way that is.... )
    And ...There it is....!!!!
    Bit hectic to code this than the obvious Map and stuff. But it saves a lot of headache for future additions/deletions of columns to the table.
    Sample Code :
      public void populateExcelColumnsFromView( java.lang.String tableName, com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDView view )
        //@@begin populateExcelColumnsFromView()
              //Created By : AVIK SANYAL Date : 28 March 2008
              //This method will fetch the header names from the Table in the View and set the
              // Attributes in nodeExcelTableColumns(). These nodes are mapped to
              //Excel Custom Controller and hence used to set the Column headers for the Excel File.
              IWDTable searchTable = (IWDTable) view.getElement(tableName);
              wdContext.nodeExcelTableColumns().invalidate();
              String tableDataSource = searchTable.bindingOfDataSource();
              wdContext.currentContextElement().setDataSource(tableDataSource);
              for (int i = 0; i < searchTable.numberOfGroupedColumns(); i++) {
                   //               Read the Column
                   IWDTableColumn col =
                        (IWDTableColumn) searchTable.getGroupedColumn(i);
                   IWDTableCellEditor TCE = col.getTableCellEditor();
                   IWDCaption header = col.getHeader();
                   //               This will check if the column is visible in the View only then it will
                   //               go for further processing.
                   if (WDVisibility.VISIBLE.equals(col.getVisible())) {
                        IExcelTableColumnsElement columnElement =
                             wdContext
                                  .nodeExcelTableColumns()
                                  .createExcelTableColumnsElement();
                        //               If the header is not null then set the header as in the View
                        if (header != null) {
                             columnElement.setHeading(header.getText());
                        } else {
                        //               Add the column name to the nodeExcelTableColumns()
                        //This checks the type of column in the View and then take the value.
                        if (TCE != null) {
                             if (TCE instanceof IWDTextView) {
                                  IWDTextView element = (IWDTextView) TCE;
                                  columnElement.setBinding(element.bindingOfText());
                                  wdContext.nodeExcelTableColumns().addElement(
                                       columnElement);
        //@@end

  • Dynamic generate JCheckBoxes...

    Hello,
    can anybody give me an impulse?
    It concerns the following:
    - my script is reading out a folder (reading out the names of the files in this folder)
    - I get a String[] array with the names in it
    - on the basis of the names in the String[] array I will dynamic generate some JCheckBoxes
    - my problem is that I don't know how I can dynamic generate the names of the JCheckBoxes, because the data types are different
    Regards,
    kostro03

            checkBoxes[i] = new JCheckBox (fileNames);
    // add listeners and such

  • How can I sort a dynamically generated table

    I am dynamically populating the columns in a table every time my page is loaded. (see code below)
    This is all working fine, and I am also able to use the built in pagination.
    However, I run into problems as soon as I click on a column header to try sort the table.
    I assume that because the columns are not defined in the JSP (because they are added dynamically), the sort criteria is referring to non-existant columns once the page reloads.
    I get an exception as follows
    Exception Details:  org.apache.jasper.JasperException
      #{currentRow.value['categories.category_id']}Can anyone suggest a solution so that I can sort the data for my dynamically generated table?
    Cheers,
    Ian
    //NOTE: I call populateTable(tableRowGroup1,dynamicRowSetDataProvider) in my prerender code.
    //tableRowGroup1 is defined as an empty (ie no children) row group in the JSP
    private void populateTable(TableRowGroup rowGroup, DataProvider dp) {
        rowGroup.setSourceVar("currentRow");
        try {
            FieldKey[] columnNames = dp.getFieldKeys();
            for(int i=0; i < columnNames.length; i++) {
                String columnName = columnNames.getFieldId();
    info(i+": columnName");
    rowGroup.getChildren().add(
    createStaticTextColumn(columnName, "#{currentRow.value['"+columnName+"']}")
    } catch (Exception ex) {
    log("Error Description", ex);
    info("Error Description : " + ex);
    return;
    private TableColumn createStaticTextColumn(String heading, String dataField) {
    TableColumn tableColumn = new TableColumn();
    tableColumn.setHeaderText(heading);
    tableColumn.setSort(dataField);
    TextField staticText = new TextField();
    ValueBinding vb = getApplication().createValueBinding(dataField);
    staticText.setValueBinding("text", vb);
    tableColumn.getChildren().add(staticText);
    return tableColumn;

    I'm also having this problem, and I'm sure many more are too. It seems that no one has a solution, but perhaps that makes it even more value able for a sun dev to figure it out. It's surprising that it's so difficult to make dynamically generated tables with JSC.

  • Save dynamically generated audio?

    Hey all -
    Short and sweet: Is there any way to save a dynamically generated sound to a file?
    I'm developing an app that (so far) records a person's voice and then allows the user to manupulate the tempo, rate, and pitch. Playback is fine. Thing is, I want to save the manmipulated sound, but I haven't found a way to capture the manilpulated playback into a ByteArray (I'm sure I can work with the data from there). Has anyone tried this? Is it simply not possible?
    Working with Flash IDE (CS5.5).

    Yea, I know about the extract function - it doesn't work in this case because the sound object is used as a conduit for streaming the modified audio. I tried using extract on the sound object, but it returned nothing.
