Final Cut Pro has stopped loading!!!

Final Cut Pro has stopped loading!!! - I'm sure this is an easy thing to fix but every time I click on Final Cut Pro, the program begins to load, and at the final hurdle, it stops and returns to the dock as if I had never asked it to load in the first place. I tried to log in under a different account and final cut worked, but only for a while. I tried a previous 'help' tip by deleting the .plist to see if that helped but alas no.

Does it crash while the splash screen is up? If so, see what's loading when the crash occurs. There could be something corrupt in your project if it's past the splash screen and you have your preferences set to load the last project on setup. If this is the problem, do some searching here on corruption for some clues.

Stops completely? Mine stopped at 95% for quite a few minutes then finished. This is usually the time in the process where the lead out is being burned and it will not show progress for some time. If it is taking more than 10 to 15 minutes from that point you may have another problem.

Thank you Russ! Seems as though the timestamp on my audio files was completely incorrect so it placed the files far away from the corresponding video. I've modified the timestamp information and this has helped. The hour/minute information is incorrect but at least now I'm in the ballpark. Thank you!

Final Cut Pro- Video stops exporting at 33% in H.264 format to a USB.

I have made a video using Final Cut Pro which is 51 minutes in length. Some of the clips were filmed using iPhones, whereas some of the clips were filmed using a Sony phone. The clips have all been placed together using Final Cut Pro and effects+music have been added. When I try to export the video to a USB in the format of H.264, it reaches 33% then just disappears from the background processes box. I have repeatedly tried to export the video to different places to see if the USB was the issue, but it keeps stopping at 33%. I looked at a forum which said some people had an issue whereby they found a clip which was dodgy and had to be deleted for the video to successfully export. I tried to delete the correct video clip to see if that worked, and the export then reached 37% but then stopped. The issue could be that the clips filmed on the Sony phone have to be deleted in order for the video to successfully export, however I would rather not delete all of the clips as they are an important part of the video. Also, the video must be able to play on a TV so I have some USBs which are 16GB as the video is 8.9GB. But is H.264 the correct format? Please help!

That depends on the television set (s). There is no universal standard. Definitely check the TV manual (s).

Trouble burning DVD in Final Cut Pro X (stops at 66%)

I have been trying to burn a DVD on Final Cut Pro 10.1.4, but I find that it always stops the burning process at 66%. An error does not pop up; it just simply stops at the same place every time. I have tried burning different projects of different lengths, I have tried updating Final Cut, I've restarted the computer, and multiple other things that I've seen others have said worked for them, but every time it always stops at 66%. I have been able to burn about 6 or 7 DVDs successfully before this problem started happening, but now I can't get a single one to work.
I seen where some said that this was a common problem in Final Cut when FCP X will hand the job to Create Disc to actually start the burn process, but I don't know how to fix it.
I've tried so many different processes to make it work; could someone please help!

I've been trying to burn each disk without an image for the menu, but I actually even seen where someone had said just to go into it and add a small picture for the background and then delete it and then hit share and that might get it to work. I've tried doing that multiple times, and it hasn't made a difference. It still stops at 66%. I didn't know if there was anything else I could try that might fix it.

My final cut pro has been slowing down unbearably and creating duplicates

Hi. I have an appointment booked for the end of next week to have my laptop looked at but I was wondering if anyone might know what my issue is.
I've edited 7 projects on final cut pro 10 and they've all been fine. For some reason every time I closed the program a duplicate of my library was created to the point I had about 100 files. So when I started work on an eighth project, the program was running unbearably slow and my start up disk was full. I deleted all the duplicates but it is still running slow to the point it can't really be used, and it is still creating duplicates every time I close the program. It's also telling me my start up disk is full even though I've just deleted about 100 files and emptied them from the trash.
Another thing, I'm using an external hard drive for this project so I haven't added any new heavy files onto the computer. They're all on the hard drive.
It's a bit vague but basically how can I avoid it creating duplicates and has anyone else experienced this problem, as to why it's so slow. It may be an actual software issue in which case I'll find out next week. But in the mean time...

Thanks everyone for responding. I've actually been away from my computer for the whole weekend so haven't been looking at this forum that I only posted on Friday morning. Actually had a heck of a lot else to deal with this weekend so maybe Innocentius and Russ I'd appreciate if you'd keep your rather irritating remarks to yourself. It's been two days.
I'm using Final Cut Pro 10.1.1. The system is OS X 10.9.2.
I've attached a screen shot of the details of my computer and a shot of final Cut Pro. It's actually got to the point where I can hardly open final Cut pro because the whole computer seizes up as soon as it gets turned on.
It took five attempts and several hours to export the last project I did, kept saying the start up disk was full despite the fact I deleted whole folders of videos and then tried again. I'm not sure it's the computer but more the program.
Any help much appreciated. I am busy though and not always quick with my responses.

Final Cut Pro crashes during load screen.

When I open FCP, the loading screen comes on. During the loading, FCP closes. There is no error message.
I have already tried the two solutions posted as announcements on the top of the FCP forum:
1. I have deleted unnecessary Quicktime components from (Library>Quicktime).
2. I have downloaded the most recent software update.

A solution from an earlier post solved my problem. I deleted the Final Cut Pro preferences ("Final Cut Pro 5.0 Prefs") (MAC HD> Library> Preferences> Final Cut Pro User Data). FCP opens now.

One thing I didn't notice in the other posts, but did you do any upgrading of operating system or applications recently?
If you did, you might want to make you are current with the proapps, etc.

Thankyou for your help. No, I have done this and it does not work. I have tried clicking and dragging, selecting the file in the project library, selecting individual files etc etc etc. The only thing that may have helped me out was last night...I clicked on a tab in FCP on the far right side (that must have something to do with exporting as well) and a small screen popped up after clicking it stating i cannot export the file while it is still referencing media off of the camera. I dont understand this either? I do have to have my camera connected before FCP will RECOGNIZE the media clips, but they have all been imported to my external hard drive and once i click import from camera, it is complete within seconds, so the hundreds of video clips i am using are obviously saved on there somewhere already....im at a loss here as to what to do. Do i have to literally download ALL MEDIA in each project to my computers hard drive before final cut pro will allow me to export any of the projects i create?? This seems like such backward thinking...I dont have nearly enough room on my computers intenal memory to do this with all my video clips!!!

Just to add a to Al's advice, working within the FCP X UI, try to copy one of the events (not the troublesome one) to the new library. Let us know how you make out.

Final Cut Pro won't load anything and keeps crashing.. help!

Just got FCP today with my new MBP. It was working fine and it crashed. Now I open and it doesn't load the clips and the timeline doesn't show the preview. I've attached a screenshot. It opens for about 30 seconds then crashes. I tried reparing permissions but got nothing. Any ideas?
As you can see dark blue areas shouldn't obviously have images but they aren't loading FCP is crashing

What are the specs if your computer? What are the specs of your media?
Trash your preferences. Trash event and project render files.

Final Cut Pro X not loading media from Drobo 5D

Everything was working fine with FCP X and my Drobo 5D. I have all my files on the drobo hard drives and visible through finder. However when starting up FCP X now it starts to load from the Drobo before either crashing or just not recognizing the drobo by the fact that it dissapears. Anyone have any suggestions? Been talking with drobo tech support too but they are not sure what is causing this.

Final cut pro has no communication with aja

hi can anyone help me troubleshoot this
i am trying to digitize from a digi beta through an aja into fcp but fcp wont communicate with the deck meaning we have no timecodes? we can digitize
any ideas how to sort this problem?

you need to connect a remote cable to the deck.
in the capture tool look art device control.
if it says Firewire Pal it means that the computer is trying to control your deck wit the firewire cable - if this is not what you want to be doing then FCP wont control the deck.
You should have a remote cable 9 pin coming from the AJA t the deck - select this option in th device control - think its called aja kona decklink.
then you should get control.
you may have to open/close capture tool and refresh devices.

Final Cut Pro has renamed or scrambled my video files

Hello, after several years of using FCP, a new problem. I've digitized footage from my camera, successfully, and named the files according to the tape. For example, the first ten minutes of tape 1 would be WHIT 1-1. The next 10 minutes of tape one would be WHIT 1-2 etc. or for tape 2, WHIT 2-1, 2-2, 2-3 etc. Normally it produces an identical Quicktime file. However, I have returned to my computer after digitizing (sometimes days after I've done it successfully), and all of a sudden the files are renamed with 'v's thus:
WHIT 1-1-v
WHIT 1-1-v-1
WHIT 1-1-v-2
It usually splits each of my files into 3 or 4 extra files. I can open the files ending in 'v' in Quicktime and they look normal, the othre ones ie. WHIT 1-1-v-1 I can't open. If I get rid of those files, I can't open the functioning WHIT 1-1-v file either. When I check the clip and reveal it in the finder, it only references the first 'v' file. Obviously they are linked; FCP seems to have arbitrarily chopped each file into some sort of components. I've seen this behaviour before but only when there was an error in the digitizing process; usually you just throw out all those files and start again. However these files were digitized correctly; it was only afterwards (sometimes DAYS after) that they are all of a sudden separated and renamed. Is there any way I can reunite them? In the FCP browser the files still have the original names. I dread when I have to reconnect WHIT 1-1 and my only options are all named something else, therefore can't be connected. The ony thing I'm doing different is digitizing to a smaller external (portable) drive, and using a friend's MacBook instead of my older Powerbook. Any ideas? I've redigitized 5 tapes twice now and fear the wear and tear on my camera, not to mention my wasted time!

A FAT32 drive is limited to 4GB files (a FAT16 drive is limited to 2GB files).
DV runs at 3.6MB/sec or ~13GB per hour. 20 min is more than the 4GB file size limit for FAT32.
Assuming you have a disk formatted as FAT32, if you capture in 15 minute increments, you won't have the spanning file issue. (If the file size being created is 2GB, you need to limit the capture to 7 min or less to stay under the spanning threshold.)
I'd suggest using log and capture based on sequential time code for each clip. This will enable you to:
a. quickly link the continuous clips
b. control the capturing in a very reasonable way
c. cease worrying about one of the intermediate files going missing and needing a long recapture.
Use the log and capture window to set up the batch file then let the machine have at it. You can set up the batch capture something like this: (assuming a 4GB file size limit)
Clip 1: start: with enough tape for reasonable preroll > end 15:00;00
Clip 2: start 15:00:01 > end 30:00:00
Clip 3: start 30:00;01 > end 45:00;00
rinse and repeat as required till you reach the end of your material.
You don't really need to review the tape, you just need the ending TC.

Final Cut Pro now downloading onto a MacBook Pro

I just bought a sweet MacBook Pro and my Final Cut Pro won't load. The message, "This software requires certain hardware or software whick is missing. AGP graphics card." comes up. Is there a problem with this computer or can Final Cut Pro 4 not run on a computer as updated as this? I also downloaded all of the updates for Final Cut. Please Help!!!!

What's funny about this is that everything else works. Live Type works, Compressor works, DVD Studio Pro 3 works but Final Cut Pro HD needs to see an AGP graphics card. My MacBook Pro has a PCIe graphics card and not an AGP graphics card. You would think Apple would issue an update to FCP.
Oh well not a big deal. I just sent in my FCP4 disc and Cross Grade form. $199.00 and you get the full FCP Studio. I'll be watching the mail like the kid from the movie "A Christmas Story" waiting for his decoder ring to show up. lol
