Administration Tool 11g Language / Locale

Hi, I would like to know how can I change the Admistration Tool Language in BIEE 11g. It is currently in portuguese, but I want it in English.

Hi, I changed all entries in the registry, but it did not work.
However I erased the AdmintoolPTB.dll (which is for Brazilian Portuguese) and it worked.
I guess this is not the correct way, but I will use it for the time being.

My users do not have the right of installing anything by themselves on their workstation. But for testing reasons I have to provide the Administration Tool. Can I download it somewhere from web interface (for example as we can download BI Desktop Tools)?

Oracle BI Administration Tool 11g - Fields have the XML data type

I'm using Oracle BI Administration Tool 11.1.1.3.0 and I need to import Metadata an Oracle table where same fields have the XML data type.
Please, there is someone can tell me what I must do to define these fields in Administration Tool?

in u r RPD -->Try to select import Connection Type as : XMLA then give it the URL of u r analysis services 2000 then u can able to import it.

Change language for Administration Tool

My windows is installed in portuguese... Adm Tool comes out with menus in portuguese, etc.
I'd very much to have the Admin tool in english... Pls is there a way to do it ? (I have already tried Regional, language in windows control panel...)

The connection has failed while creating a New Repository using Oracle BI 11g Administration Tool

In the BI Administration Tool when i try to create a “New Repository…” faced The connection has failed I try all of these solutions but dident work..
1-configured my “System DSN"
2-enter “TNS_ADMIN” for the “Variable Name” field and for the “Variable Value” enter the location of my OBIEE
3-copy the sqlnet and tnsnames.ora files into E:\obiee11gtmt\Oracle_BI1\network\admin and E:\obiee11gtmt\oracle_common\network\admin
4- put this in DSN with connection type OCI 10g/11g (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = IP Addr)(PORT = 1521)) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL) ))

1.Place tnsnames.ora file in the following paths,
E:\obiee11gtmt\oracle_common\network\
E:\obiee11gtmt\Oracle_BI1\network\admin
2.Navigate to
E:\obiee11gtmt\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIApplication\coreapplication\setup\
Open user.sh file in a notepad
Set Tns_names paths as shown below with your tnsnames.ora file’s location,
set TNS_ADMIN=C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\NETWORK\ADMIN
The above path is of your installed Database tnsnames.ora file
I guess you didnt do this step. This will solve your issue.
Restart all the services

it's a question.
Everywhere i solved the problem: to connect bi 11g to the db is necessary to copy the tnsnames.ora in the bi oracle home (.../network/admin)

OBIEE Administration Tool Language Settings

Hi Everybody,
I am using Windows 7 pro German. Because of the language seetings of operating system: OBIEE administration client tool came with German language settings.
I would be glad if someone have a similar problem and can help to change it to English.

To open the RPD in the Administration tool of a user machine you need to do the following steps:
1> Go to Control Pannel---->Administrative tools---->Data Sources(ODBC)
2> Select the System DSN tab.
3> Click Add to add the DSN for the Remote systems RPD.
4> Select the ORACLE BI SERVER option from the list of Drivers and click finish.
5> Provide the Name of the DSN and the IP address fo the remote system in the Server option in the opened window and click next.
6>Provide the ID and Password for the Remote RPD and click next.
7>It will show you the RPD to which you want to connect. Select the RPD and Click Finish.
8> Now open Administration tool in the user system and click on Open online option. You will be prompted for Different RPDs.
9> Select the RPD for which you created the DSN.
10> Give the User name and Password and you will be able to open the remote RPD.

Administration tool read only access

I was wondering if there is a read only access to the administration tool.
What i am trying to do is to test the repository Build with best practices since this repository is live and done by a group of developers -
Since i joined recently and wanted to know what resources i need to get to view and test the repository.
I was wondering if there is a read only access to admin tool , not sure about this and also do i need oracle BI installed on my local machine to view the repository.
If not ,is there a way where i can get to see the repository without having the priviledges to do any modification or save changes to the repositoryin online or offline mode

Hi,
If you want to switch your RPD read only mode to online/Offline mode
try to re start your bi server and then try to access it RPD (online/offline mode)
Setting rpd in read only mode:
users wants to access the RPD in online mode then do below setting in NQSConfig.ini but this will refrain u developers as well to do any change in online mode...

otherwise you can give it copy of RPD(he can access it via offline mode)
if your using obiee11g,
Read-Only issues on a new install of OBIEE 11g:(always opens it in Read-Only mode)
Login to Oracle Enterprise Manager Goto -> Business Intelligence -> coreapplication
Click - Capicity Managment Tab in Right side -> Performance -> Check Disable Disallow Online RPD Updates

Upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro from Windows 8 Pro causing issues with Remote Server Administration Tools

Last night I received the Windows 8.1 update and it has caused Remote Server Administration Tools to stop working. I tried to reinstall the tools using Windows8.1-KB2693643-x64.msu but get the following error:

I did have the Remote Server Administration Tools installed previously when I was running windows 8 pro and everything was fine. I've tried to remove the older version but according to the below it isn't even installed and Remote Server Administration
Tools doesn't appear in Turn Windows features on or off.

I’ve seen this issue in the past and it occurred because the file was corrupted.
It’s possible that something went wrong when downloading it originally on your newly upgraded machine.
Try downloading
KB2693643 again from another machine and install it.

Oracle BI Administration tool has stopped working

Just now finished the 11g installation.But im not able to open BI Administrator.Im getting this error.Please help.

I followed the below steps(taken from this forum) for installing OBIEE11g 64 bit version in a 64 bit machine.Installation completed successfully.But not able to open BI Administration tool.Any suggestions???
There is not a particular 64bit installation. I think it works like this: if you are using a 64bit JDK the apps server is also running 64 bit.
You can find the generic jar here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/wls-main-097127.html and take the generic one (http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/middleware/11g/wls1033_generic.jar)
You install this by a command like this (you have to look up the documentation): java -XXm.... .... wls1033_generic.jar
Then a installer pops up.
So these were my steps:
- installed RCU
- installed 64 bits JDK (jdk-6u21-windows-x64.exe)
- installed Weblogic (wls1033_generic.jar)
- installed OBI as "software only"
- configured OBIi (config.bat you can find in <obi11g home>\Oracle_BI1\bin)
All together it does not take much longer then the 32bit install. Only some extra steps to do.

Hi,
Probably I found a workaround to this problem: runas command. This gives a possibility to start admintool using an other user. You can find runas command syntax here http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/runas.mspx?mfr=true.
In my case, I changed Administration shortcut Target (Start -> Oracle Business Intelligence -> Administration and right click properties) to this: C:\WINDOWS\system32\runas.exe /user:RISTOS-XP\administrator C:\OracleBI\server\Bin\AdminTool.exe
I first tried this (thanks to my old gollege in Oracle Finland) as right click admintool.exe and selecting " Run as" and then "The following user:" and Administrator of my computer. I'm not sure, why I have this starting problem, maybe because I have to use Domain\UserId login. My domain login belongs to the local administrators group, but for some reason in this case it is not enough ..

Installing administrative tools for Windows 10 Technical Preview for Enterprise

From your error code, it seems this is relate to your windows update, please use following command to fix corrupted files:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
In the meantime, you can delete temporary update files in the SoftwareDistribution folder:
Stop Windows Update service.
Open File Explorer.
Double-click the local hard disk where Windows is installed, typically drive C.
Double-click the Windows folder, and then double-click the
SoftwareDistribution folder.
Double-click the DataStore folder to open it, and then delete all files and folders in the folder.
Note If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Click the Back button. In the SoftwareDistribution folder, double-click the
Download folder to open it, and then delete all files in the folder.
Restart Windows Update service.

AWM and Oracle BI Administration Tool

What's the relation between Analytic Workspace Manager and Oracle BI Administration Tool?
They both can build cubes.
So can I use BI Administration Tool of OBIEE only not in combination with Analytic Workspace?
If I only use BI Administration Tool of OBIEE to create cube is there any other problem?
My database is 10g not 11g and I use Analytic Workspace Manager 10.2.0.3.0A.
I feel all functions of AWM are included in OBI-EE administrator, so for what do we use AWM? Can we use OBI-EE administrator only?
I am exploring every aspect of OBIEE usage.
What's the difference between "building" and "defining" the cube? Physical data generation?
I feel in 10g AWM is use less at all...

Both comments are correct.
You can build your cubes in AWM which will map data from your relational tables and allow you to aggregate the numbers.
In 11g cube views are created already and can be imported into OBIEE to create a reporting layer. The plugin works well. In 10g you need to define a whole heap of metadata on the OLAP side to expose the data within cubes to then import into OBIEE.
You are correct in saying OBIEE can create and report on multi-dimensional data, but the problem is with performance. OBIEE will have to aggregate the data on the fly and then return results. Whereas if you leave the aggregation to the OLAP side you will be able to report on pre-aggregated data inside of OBIEE using the cube views.
If you are starting this exercise, then i suggest you go with an 11g level-based hierarchy setup and use the plugin for OBIEE.

Oracle BI Administration Tool Unix

Hi ,
Does anyone have an idea how to launch 'Oracle BI Administration Tool' on UNIX.
Under Winows it is "Start > Programs > Oracle Business Intelligence > BI Administration" , but in the official doc, launching it on UNIX env is not mentionned ...

Admin tool is Windows based only.
To open rpd online mode from Windows you need to have DSN pointing to your Linux/Unix box.
