Financial reporting database connection type

Hi,
1. what is the difference between using planning and essbase database connection type?
2. FR is able to display supporting detail with the planning connection type?
3. After switching the report to planning connection type from essbase an error message occured
Error executing query: You are trying to open the data form, but cannot because one of the required dimensions is not present in the POV. Possible causes may be that you do not have access to at least one member of a required dimension, or the member selection resulted in no members present. Contact your administrator. Dimension(Scenario)com.hyperion.planning.NotEnoughAccessException
It seems that report is trying to open with POV Scenario set to Scenario (top member) and our user does not have privilege for Scenario member only for its children.
I know i can switch the user POV in preferences to display before report and set up dimensions and it will be stored, but isn't it quite tricky?

You answered your first question. Essbase connection cannot use some FR functions like annotations.
by using annotation function you can show cell notes, planning unit annotation, supporting details
Yes it is little different than a regular Essbase report. You can use ManagePOV.cmd and set User POVs or
Instead of using POV move (scenario in your case) dimension to column and use prompts.

  • Financial Report Database Connection

    Hello Guys,
Is there any way to change the Financial Report Database Connection for multiple reports at a time?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Raz

Try this (I am in HFM version 9.3.1)
    1) Put all the reports you want to change in the same folder
    From the web (Explore)
    2) When you go into Tools/Change Database Connections and get to the "Select Financial Documents to Change Database Connection" highlight all the reports you want changed.
3)Click ok and then in the next screen change the connection.

    Hi,
I have similar issue and cannot find an answer.
My environment is 11.1.2.1 (upgrade from 11.1.1.3)
All applications working fine (planning, essbase, hfm).
I'm unable to change database connection to hfm (db change to essbase and Plannng works). Error says that I have wrong cluster/server configuration.
Question is how this configuration should lokks like. I already tested:
    1. HFMProd - this is cluster name and Server1 as a server in HFMProd cluster
    2. No cluster, just Server1
    3. HFMProd and Server1 in plus Server1 separately
In all cases the same message.
When I open FR studio I'm able to see reports (from workspace also).
When I try to open report I have an error due to some links to the old server ip (I guess this is taken from connection info that I can not change)
What is more I can create new Planning report in studio, but can not open through workspace.
From Workspace I can manage reporting services so everything is visible correctly (or should be :) ).
    Any idea?
    regards

  • Financial Report DB connection lost

    Gurus,
Among around 100 Financial Reports in my system, I have this problem with two of the reports where I do not see the DB connection in workspace, hence not able to open it.
For example, in Workspace, when I do
TOOLS -> CHANGE DATABASE CONNECTION, when I choose this particular report, on the CHANGE DATABASE CONNECTION box, the current DB connection box where it says "Find all references to the database connection" field is EMPTY.
Therefore, I am not able to change or even open the connection.
What I have tried is to import the report from the Development environment. It works fine when I do this, however, when I check next day it is gone again.
I tried to open the reports in Financial Reporting studio, but I get the null pointer exception.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    I suspect a corruption.
Can you export those reports and check whether it is having a database connection in it?
Also get the id (DATASOURCE_ID) of the db connection and check whether you have that in relational repository.
v8_version_attributes will have something like this ;datasourceID=144a0c25_13e6ac00cdb_-7ffe in the value column.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Is the account that runs the services of BOE on your OS able to ping the DB server. It may also lie in the fact that you have to do the correct setup steps for the SAP Integration Kit. Have you installed and configured this between your BW and BOE environment?
    Hope this helps...

  • Financial Report Studio Connection Error

Has anyone ever seen this error. I am wondering if it has to do with a licensing issue.
5200: Error executing query: Unable to obtain a connection to Hyperion Essbase.
If this problem persists, please contact your
    administrator.com.hyperion.planning.olap.NoAvailableOlapConnectionsException
I am wondering if the client has not moved away from the BEA temp licenses which I believe is only licensed for 5 users. Thanks for any help.

Actually we figured out that the client only updated there permanent BEA license on one server and not on all there servers. Problem resolved.

  • Financial Reporting linked to Interactive Reporting?

    Hi,
I have the Interactive Reporting which is based on SQL db repository. Now I would like to incorporate the Financial Reporting tool into Workspace, but am not sure if it would be possible to retrieve the date in Financial Reporting from Interactive Reporting, or rather to retrieve the data directly from the SQL db. Which solution is better?
    br

You need to connect FR directly to the data source, you can't connect FR to IR.
I'm not sure which version you have but on 9.3.1 you can use Financial Reporting to connect to only the following:
    - SAP BW data sources;
    - Hyperion® System™ 9 Financial Management™;
    - Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS);
    - Hyperion® System™ 9 BI+™ Analytic Services™ (essbase).

  • Unable to connect in Financial Reporting Studio

    Hi,
I am trying to connect to Essbase from FR with the following database connection properties and am getting errors as follows.
Database connection Name - abcd (some name)
    Type - Essbase
server - phani (this is the database server)
User ID - admin (this is the db user name)
password - password (this is the db password)
    Application -
database - basic (this is the database name)
    1) The first problem is when clicking on the icon next to Application text box, it displays the following error.
    "Failed to connect to server"
I have also done the Stop_BIPlus.bat and Start_BIPlus.bat but still i am getting the same error. Can anyone of you kindly help me what should i do.

    Hi,
If you haven't checked it might be worth checking that all of the necessary services are running, and there are a few! I have also experienced issues if services are not started in the correct order.
For Hyperion Financial Reporting (Studio or Workspace) the following order works for us:
    1. BI+ Core Services
    2. Workspace
    3. Financial Reporting Java RMI
    4. Financial Reporting Print Server
    5. Financial Reporting Report Server
    6. Financial Reporting Scheduler Server
    7. Financial Reporting Web Server
We have always tended to manage services from the control panel (Windows OS) so I am afraid that I'm not sure how the above relates to your .bat options.
    Hope that this helps

    Hi,

  • Missing Connection Types in Report Data Source Properties

I am running three installations of SharePoint 2013 with SQL 2012 for Business Intelligence, with Kerberos working.
I have been having intermittent issues with SQL Reporting Services in a multi-server configuration, but finally had it working in all three environments.  We discovered many of our issues were caused by master page customizations which we have now disabled
temporarily while we work on function issues.
However, we started having a new problem with Reporting Services on just ONE of the environments, and we are not sure what happened.  Most everything appears to still be working, except Reporting Services. I have verified that features are enabled
in both the farm and the site collection, as well as insured managed content types are being allowed on the target document libraries.  I also verified the Reporting Service properties and database connections.  However, I have found two clear symptoms
which I can find no other information regarding (in logs or in online searches):
    1) If we try to create a new "Report Data Source" using the SharePoint UI, it will open a new Data Source Properties window, but in the "Data Source Type" field, there are no values available for me to select my connection type (e.g.,
    Microsoft SQL Server).
    2) In Central Administration, while administering the Reporting Services Service Application, I can manage a majority of the settings, including System Settings, Manage Jobs, Key Management, etc.  However, if I click on the link for "E-mail Settings,"
I get the dreaded "Sorry Something went wrong screen," with an error saying that "Object reference is not set to an instance of an object."
So I am hoping someone has an idea of where I can look for additional information on this issue, or even better, knows what I am missing to get Reporting Services functional again in this environment!
Thanks in advance for any help provided.
    Elohir

However, we started having a new problem with Reporting Services on just ONE of the environments, and we are not sure what happened.
    Hi Elohir,
I assume you are installing Reporting Services SharePoint mode for SharePoint 2013, you need to:
    1. Install "Reporting Services – SharePoint" and "Reporting Services add-in for SharePoint Products" on the SharePoint server that the SSRS service will run on.  All other SP servers only need the "Reporting Services
    add-in for SharePoint Products."
    2. Run the Insall-SPRSService and Install-SPRSServiceProxy on Central Admin and SSRS server.
    3. Start SSRS Service only on desired SSRS servers.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219068.aspx
Since the issue occurs only to one of the environments, please provide more information about your multi-server configuration, and point out the server where the issue occurs.

  • Problem about financial reporting studio(assign multiple db connection)

    Hi,
I need to assign multiple database connections to a grid in Oracle Hyperion Financial Reporting Studio
To do this, I performed the following steps:
    - Open a report.
    - In a grid, select one column for which I want to change the database connection.
    - In the Column Properties sheet, click the Select Database Connection button, .
    - In the Select a Database Connection dialog box, select a database connection from the Database Connection drop-down list, then Click OK.
    - In the Map Dimensions Between... dialog box, map dimensions between the default database connection and the selected database connection. I do this by selecting a dimension from the pull-down list in the right column for each dimension in the left column.
    - Optional: Select an alias table for the new database connection.
    - Click OK.
But after last step I have received next error:
    *; nested exception is:*
    java.lang.NullPointerException
Can someone explain the source of this error?
And help me please solve this problem because I didn’t receive figures in that column where I changed database connection.
    Thank you in advance!

I'm sure that both DB connections has the same dimension hierarchy. I can open the repot, but in it I don't see figures in that column where I've changed database connection...
