Find monitor instance name , device name , resolution and frequency of multiple monitors (VGA and HDMI)

In my system multiple monitors are connected (VGA and HDMI). In need to know the
monitor instance name , device name , resolution and frequency of each monitor.. any solution?
i used wm class 'WmiMonitorConnectionParams' to determine Video output technology connection type and InstanceName.
But i didn't get the device name , resolution and frequency of each monitor.??

I read some documents about WmiMonitorConnectionParams class, it should be able to get the video putput technology by the D3DKMDT_VIDEO_OUTPUT_TECHNOLOGY enumeration.

I have been creating a photo book using a lots of photographs on iPhoto, and then I took another photos by using new iPAD which I want to integrate with the original album/book on iMac. I was able to import them from iPAD's iPhoto to iMac's iPhoto. However I cannot import or transfer or sync anything from iMac's iPhoto to that of my iPAD.
So my iPhoto page on iPAD contains only 3 or 4 newly created albums, and no other info. That means no syncing....
I am supposed to be able to work on this project on either of these iPAD and iMac, correct?

I have an insignia TV, an apple TV I just bought less than a month ago, and a Macbook Air (mountain Lion) and a MacBook pro (mountain lion).
I am able to connectboth of my computers with the TV to mirror my screen/monitor, but I have not been able to figure out how to use the apple TV to use my TV as a second monitor, like I was able to do with my HDMI cable.
when I bought the Apple TV the person who I talked to at the store told me I would be able to do it, but I havent been able to do it through system preferences and the options for display only show as mirroring through Airplay. I dislike mirroring because while I play something on my computer (or somebody else does) I'd like to still be able to use my computer for browsing or doing homework.
Please help me find a way in which I can make my TV as a second monitor tu my computer without having to have an HDMI cord across the room. I have a puppy and I have had problems with that. That is actually the reason why I considered buying the Apple TV device.
NOTE: In case you know a way to connect my TV to my Macs I have a time capsule and my TV has a DVI, two HDMI, and a USB ports.

Numbers' Functions and Formulas in Multiple Cells, Tables, and Sheets
Hello,
I'm stuck with specifics that center around usage, and I get the funny feeling I'm overlooking a simple detail or two.
If I may, here goes.
I'm working with a single spreadsheet that has several sheets within it, and each sheet has an identical table. Each table is used to record various data, and I use an additional table in a separate sheet to consolidate some of the information, so that I can track results, at a glimpse, by looking at averages, totals, etc.
Each data table is organized for consolidation by tracking wins, ties, or losses. It is important to know that each data table only records a single win, tie, or loss along with its other applicable data. And on the actual consolidation table I am trying to tally specific data fields by the use of Numbers' functions and formulas, yet I wish to keep these tallied results organized by the determining factor of whether or not they were gathered from a table that recorded a win, a table that recorded a tie, or a table with a loss.
To illustrate, each table contains data fields that record start time, finish time, elapsed time, the day of the week, etc. Let's say I have eight tables, and the first two are winning tables, three more are tables that record a tie, and the last three are losing tables. For example, on my consolidated data table I wish to enter a function and formula capturing which of the eight tables are wins, ties, and losses so that I can, at a glance, see how much time elapsed to obtain the wins, ties, and losses. So then, in this example, for wins I want to determine which of those wins took 20 minutes, or which of them took 15 minutes, etc. So then, out of the two wins, let's say both of them took 20 minutes each. I need the numeral 2 to be counted and recorded on the consolidation table since only two tables match the criteria. And I would do the same for all remaining data fields (e.g., start time, finish time, etc.). Just so long as everything is determined by wins, ties, and losses, and then organized by the respective data fields. Simply put, this example determines a total of two wins that meet the data field requirement of 20 minutes. Out of the eight tables (one table per sheet) any other wins would then be organized according to the specific data in the elapsed time data field on it's data table (e.g., 5 minutes, 15 minutes, etc.).
The exact syntax structure of the functions and formula I'm unsuccessfully using follows below. It only seems to return a result of 1, and I think it is returning this value from the IF Statements. By the way, the Win, Tie, or Loss cell in each data table is cell formatted as a pop-up so I can either select None or 1. But in this example I'm basing this on the time period of 20 minutes, and out of the eight data tables I have two wins which also record the time period as 20 minutes, so I should see 2 and not 1 in the 20 minutes column of the consolidated data table. Also, I tried changing the syntax where I would type "=1" in the IF Statements, but it returned a result of =1, and if I don't include the equals sign and quotation marks the result just shows up as 1.
My Syntax:

Please bear in mind that the COUNTIFS portion of the above syntax structure is something I'm already successfully using to count the totals of other things not mentioned above, and I'm hesitant to delete it since it already works to my satisfaction when I want to, for example, determine the total number of overall wins. So, just for illustration purposes, I might have an overall wins column in my consolidation table that records how many wins there are, regardless of organization by elapsed time, or any other data field. In other words, the COUNTIFS syntax structure already works to my satisfaction. I'm not sure if it's possible to alter it so that it isn't so long, but what's there does work just when counting total numbers, as just mentioned.
In summary, I'm wondering which function I can use with the COUNTIFS function to determine which of my eight data tables are winning tables, but break those wins down further based on criteria like elapsed time, and in the above example the time elapsed is 20 minutes. As you may see above, I'm unsuccessfully using the IF function. Finally, I've looked at the function browser descriptions of things like LOOKUP, HLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, INTERSECT.RANGES, and a few others. And so far I haven't made good use of any of them the way I've done when I use the COUNTIFS function by itself when only counting overall totals. But now I must determine totals that meet certain criteria, as explained above.
Please help if you dare (smile). This is a huge project I'm undertaking, and so as not to cause confusion I have not included all of the details. But rather, I've taken a small sampling and set it to the side for experimentation. If this small sample works out to my satisfaction I can simply copy and paste the syntax in all other respective cells in the consolidation table, changing only reference locations, and perhaps conditions or values. One thing is certain, I don't intend on giving up on it.

As I stated earlier, I'm new to using these features of Numbers. My spreadsheet encompasses a much larger amount of data than I'm referring to in the example in my first post. But in my example I'm isolating just the information concerning what I'm now trying to accomplish to finish my spreadsheet project. Moreover, most of what I've done up to this point I was able to figure out on my own, or get help from watching videos on YouTube, or simply using the application help menu. Please be aware that I consulted all of these, repeatedly. I even contacted AppleCare, and was told this sort of support is not available. In spite of this, I've accomplished a great deal in my first large spreadsheet project. Please be aware that when I wrote my second post and specifically responded to you, I didn't want to be rude or ungrateful, and I still don't, but maybe the suggestions you and Hiroto made about gathering the count of wins, ties, and losses are something I've already done. I think I've done that separately. These counts are already in separate cells, and they are working fine. In my first post where I inserted only one image you can see examples of this in my consolidation table image, in cells B3 and E6. I apologize for not making this abundantly clear earlier. Furthermore, the portion of my syntax that shows the COUNTIFS is the exact way I accomplished this, and it is written the way it is written because I need separate sheets, each with their own data tables. Again, in cell E7 I need to determine which of the eight data tables that record wins are also recording 20 minutes, but I need this in a single function and formula with the result appearing only in cell E7. Once this is figured out I will adjust the syntax to do the same thing with every column (these are not shown but they exist) in my consolidation table for the last three footer rows, named Win Column Totals, Tie Column Totals, and Loss Column Totals. The last three rows being footer rows may not be necessary, and if so, I can convert them back to normal rows. Nonetheless, my consolidation table is counting the totals of all data in all data tables. This much I've already accomplished. Now I have one last function and formula I'm working on in order to determine which of the eight data tables record wins, ties, or losses while it simultaneously counts which of the wins, ties, or losses fall within certain categories like elapsed time, and this will be shown on my consolidation table only in the last three rows. Yes, I've gotten the total wins counted, and separately counted the total number of times 20 minutes was the elapsed time used, but so far, just looking at my consolidation table I don't know if the total number of times 20 minutes was used was with a win, tie, or loss. That's what I need to know now. Everything else is already accomplished. So then my consolidation table will show the totals for all data fields in my eight data tables as illustrated in cells B3 and E6. The last three rows of my consolidation table will break this down in a single function and formula with one row for wins, a second for ties, and a third for losses. And each of these respective last three rows will in the same function and formula determine if the win, tie, or loss also is one of the data fields in my eight data tables. How? By the use of columns in my consolidation table. Remember, each of my eight data tables are identical. In the example in my first post I only used one data field, elapsed time (Time in Trade), to illustrate in one column on my consolidation table what I'm trying to accomplish with all of the columns not shown in my consolidation table. Upgraded to 10.8.5 and now have multiple monitor issues
hi all,
i recently updated my macpro (4,1) to 10.8.5 from 10.6.8. i have two monitors hooked up to the gt120, one through dvi-->hdmi cable and one displayport-->hdmi cable. both monitors have worked fine for a year or two before update.
my desktop extends across both screens just fine. however, when i open up system preferences to adjust the color of the second monitor (using the display window on the second desktop) any changes i make affect the main monitor, not the second. so i try changing color settings on the main monitor and it affects the main monitor, too. so i have no control over the second monitor's color.
i have reset PRAM, disconnected power, etc. i downloaded nvidia's latest driver. not sure where to go from here. btw - i am having other minor issues since upgrade such as my moure (wacom intuos) won't move onto second monitor; it's stuck on main monitor. my apple wireless mouse will span both desktops. i guess it's probably unrelated but since it is affected by the monitors, too, maybe it's related.
any thoughts? thanks.

When I send photo from notebook to the mobile phone the notebook name (device name) is displayed. Try to check external device properties. Maybe you will find there way to change it. -
Let's Be Honest / Save Time: Lenovo T430s (NVIDIA) DOES NOT Support Multiple Monitors
There have been a few comments / complaints / articles around the web regarding the T430s and difficulties using multiple monitors.
But since this capabilitiy is clearly documented in all of Lenovo's specifications and marketing literature, I went ahead and bought an i7, NVIDIA, SSD, T430s with the docking station and all the bells and whistles to facilitate 3 or even 4 monitors.
Well please listen and let's be clear: IT DOES NOT WORK. Therefore, to be clear:
DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE AND DOCK IF YOU WANT IT TO LIVE UP TO ITS MULTI MONITOR PROMISE.
In the two weeks since FedEx arrived, here is the deal:
1) I fussed around with the dock and monitors at home and the office to no avail, for most of TWO weekends. (I am not a beginner).
2) Then, I spoke to Lenovo in Atlanta's tech support for THREE HOURS. No results
3) I spoke to Lenovo's "premium support" (paid) for FOUR HOURS. No results.
4) I consulted with a 3rd party expert on mulitple monitors who was kind enough to remote into my machine for another HOUR. No results.
5) Muliple parties have confirmed that yes, all hardware is working and yes, everything can be seen in device manager, and yes, the NVIDA card is properly switched on in the BIOS, yes I bought the i7 version etc.
6) And just in case, yes, we wiped the drive clean for a factory reset, yes we unistalled and reinstalled all the drivers and yes, we even deleted the Lenovo driver just in case the NVIDIA driver was newer or better and yes, we double checked the settings in the BIOS again.
7) Yes, we tried every connector in the dock AND the laptop: VGA, DVI, DP and mini DP - in EVERY possible combination.
And NO, IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. AT ALL. Two screens, take your pick, but THAT'S IT.
Finally, not one but TWO technicians asked me to not quote them (so I wont mention any names) but that in their opinion IT JUST DOESNT WORK AT ALL, EVER, despite Lenovo's claims / insistance that it is configured for 3 and even 4 monitors.
So the final conclusion was only that Lenovo must have rushed this T430 spec / configuration / capability to market (including the glossy brochures!) before figuring out that something is missing in the handshake between the mother board and the NVIDIA card?
Or in the firmware re swithing between the Intel (internal) and NVIDA card?
Or something else which prevents the NVIDIA card from seeing the ports on the laptop or the dock?
In summary 1) you get NOTHING from the NVIDIA upgrade and with respect to more than 2 monitors, IT JUST DOES NOT WORK, AT ALL, EVER, PERIOD and END OF STORY.
I too am a die hard old school Thinkpad enthusiast and with the company's service could match their classic products.
I have an X201 that I generall love, but would appreciate more speed, an SSD and I have to drive at least 3 external monitors, using at least 1920 x 1080 resolution.
Perhaps a W series Thinkpad would work, but I also travel so going up to the T430s was already a sacrifice vs the small size of the X201.
There are some 3rd party solutions but they are expensive and not so sure how plug and play they are with 3 or more monitors - what the T430s and Mini Dock 3.0 are SUPPOSED TO DO. But they dont.
Not giving up yet, but this has been a real bummer.

Thank you and happy to report, albeit after all the hours and now weekend number 3:
1) For the moment, I am able to repeat the 3 screen performance using mini DP from the Thinkpad and 2 DPs from the dock to the external monitors
AND
2) For the first time ever, I am just now for the first time running the 3rd external monitor from the VGA port on the dock.
That is what I meant by using the various ports on the dock, so that the Thinkpad can simply be docked and undocked without connecting the mini DP - the purpose of a dock obviously. As stated in other threads and articles, various configurations of the dock ports supposedly work to achieve 3 external screens, but until today was not able to do this.
That is the good news and thank you for all help.
The bad news is I stil have no clear idea why this has been so difficult, or where the problem lives that consumed so many hours of my own time and many hours with Lenovo tech support as stated above.
Some success seems to have happened only after more than one set of LONG updates to Windows 7 (?)
If I can replicate this set up the office (where I have 3 of the same monitors) I will be almost there.

How to calculate rms voltage, rms current and frequency from real time data?

I need to calculate the real time rms voltage, rms current and frequency of the received voltage and current graphs using visa read. Actually am trying to monitor the voltage and current parameters of AC load, in this case, am using a set of 4 light bulbs at the moment. Expected frequency is 50 Hz, and rms voltage close to 240v AC, current about 1A.
Attached is the vi picture of what I have been able to achieve so far, courtesy of labview forums. But I need to finally finish this vi by calculating the Vrms, Irms and frequecy. The front panel shows the voltage (Chart V) and current (Chart I) after scaling. Chart VI represents ADC value 0 ~ 1023 of received data. Aray V & I show the binary bits received up to 10 bits of useful data from ADC. Each sine wave from ADC is sampled at 25 samples for the ADC conversion, and sampling frequency of 1.28kH.
I have tried using the RMS vi, but seems I don't know how to configure it correctly to get desired results. Also when I make changes like switching of one of the bulbs so that their is current change, I need to refresh the SERIAL port first before changes show up on the VI. Any ideas on how to improve on this are highly appreciated.
Otherwise, I would appreciate if somebody helps me MODIFY my VI to read the rms values and frequency from received data. This is the last piece of my project, I do appreciate all the help rendered. Am currently using labview labview 2014, student version!

Mission Control useless when using multiple monitors
Background:
From my iMac I'm watching NetFlix on a 2nd TV/Monitor. The movie is playing.... On my iMac I switch to another space. Bam! The movie window on the other monitor is gone.
Conclusion:
Using Mission Control and changing "spaces" does so on all attached monitors. This is not good.
Need:
There needs to be pref in "monitors" control panel to "exlude monitor from Mission Control" functions.
Frustration:
Grrrrrrrrrrr! No more "Mission Control" as long as I'm using more than one monitor.
What say Ye?Yes, mission control is a completely abomination on multiple monitors... I use a 4 screen setup, 1 of them is a 140 projector for movies... so i definitely understand what you mean about the movie issue.... MC isvery very limited in what could potential be a step up from Spaces... instead is a step backword...
1. no way to lock monitors (such as you are talking about with watching a movie)
2. no way to move windows from one desktop to another... Spaces was great for organization... MC is a very dumbed down version.
3. Spaces showed all "desktops montitor groups together" where the way MC splits them seems unnatural and odd to me... makes sense on single monitor, but horrible on multi monitors
4. Full screen apps are worthless with multiple monitors... it should give me the option to do full screen app on EACH monitor... this would definitely ogranization. -
LMS 4.2 Fault Monitor - Device Name and Frequency of Events
Hi all,
I've just installed LMS 4.2, like it a lot so far. But I'm running into a few problems, and I'm hoping someone out here has a suggestion.
In the Fault Monitor, the Device Name column shows the device's IP address rather than the host name. We need for it to show the host name, for ease of troubleshooting; most folks don't have the IP addresses memorized. Likewise, when an email is sent out for an event, the managed device field also shows up as the device's IP address.
The devices were all discovered with their IP addresses rather than a host name...should LMS have automatically found their host names? Regardless, I manually updated all of the device's host names, yet they still display as an IP address in the fault monitor.
Also, it appears I need to figure out some way to throttle alerts. One particular device will report an event (ie a temperature out of range) dozens of times in a polling period...several per second, even though it's the same alert. Any suggestions on where I can throttle this? My inbox is exploding.
If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it!
JenI am having the IP vs. device name issue as well. The funny thing is if you hover over the IP of the device in Fault Monitor, you can see the device name listed. I was on a conference call with Cisco recently and pointed this out. One of the reps said the faults and alerts showing IP address issue should be fixed in version 4.2.3, but I don't know if he was basing this on first-hand knowledge or was just assuming. Does anyone know if this is the case?
As for throttling alerts. I had a false positive alert from a device that I put in a custom fault group and changed the threshold on to keep them from firing. You probably have already resolved this issue, but I didn't see a resolution listed here. You would have to determine if raising a threshold for a device is adequate for your situation.

To Find the instance name in RMAN catalog

I have rman catalog which got registered 150 databases. Am able to get the dbname,id for the 150 databases but not able to get the server name (host name) of the correspoding databases in catalog views as well as in db views.
Kindly revert us if you know any other analyisis or way to find the server names.

"find my iphone" device name changed to something offensive
hi,
i used my ipad to find my iphone4S yesterday. listed in my list of devices was also my old iphone3 that I use as an ipod in a docking station in another part of my house. i have small children and no one has access to my old phone to mess with it. what concerns me is that what the name has been changed to as it's really offensive and threatening. it uses swear words and refers to a female in the house, and as that's me i'm freaked out about the location services side of things. on a practical level, is it possible to have my phone hacked in this way and if so what can i do about it? can anyone help?The name that Find My Phone uses, is the name of your phone: Settings>General>About>Name. Someone had physical access, & changed the name. This is easily done by tapping on the name displayed, then changing it to whatever you like.

I have a system property node for daqmx but it does not let me change it to read when i right click on it. I am trying to have my program detect the name of the daq that is plugged in to the PC and then send that to daq assistant so that it will run properly wiithout me manually having to change the device name every time i switch hardware.

You have do do programming. That is what LabVIEW is. MAX gives you all the tools to do everything you want and much more just program it to do what you want.
Attached is a VI that I think does what you want. I looks at all of your devices and returns the first non simulated one. Apparently this list already excludes devices not connected to the system.

Linking PCI device names and drivers
Hi Everyone,
I have a PCI device with a class code of "ethernet" so the name
created in the device tree is eg:
"/pci@1f,0/pci@1/ethernet@3"
I can run add_drv and attach my driver to this just fine.
But what if I had another PCI ethernet card from a different
vendor but still with a class code of "ethernet"? How would I
get one driver associated with one device and a second driver
the other? I've run add_drv with -i 'pciXXXX,X' but the
name in the device tree is still "ethernet" and therefore this
is what shows up in /etc/path_to_inst?
My attach routine will check the vendor id and device id of
the device and will fail the attach call for the "wrong"
device. If I then add_drv the second driver for the second
card, I see entries in /etc/path_to_inst with two drivers for each
"ethernet" device. Will this cause problems in the long run?

First of all the IEEE 1275 PCI Bus Binding ( which can be found at
http://playground.sun.com) clearly states that "ethernet" is one
of the "Generic Names" listed in this manual. See portion of this
document below.
a) In collections of OS drivers, avoid the use of generic names for
the drivers themselves. For example, it is generally unwise to name a
driver ethernet, since there are many different ethernet adapters with
different programming models. Using the generic name ethernet to
identify only one such driver is presumptuous.
You may go through one of these dicsussions to get more info on setting
the "compatible property" through the driver.conf file.
You may already be familiar with most of it,but it clarifies how
a Sun system differentiates between the onboard hme card and the
add on SunSwift card. Although they both use the same driver, you
can create different driver.conf files when the drivers are different
and use the compatible property field to identify the proper driver.
To Configure Driver Parameters With PCI-bus Based Systems
1.Obtain the hardware path name for the device in the device tree.
Typically this path name and the associated instance number will be
present in the /etc/path_to_inst file. For example, on a Sun Ultra 30
UPA/PCI system in which one SunSwift-PCI card is plugged in, the
/etc/path_to_inst file will have the following two entries (in
addition to entries for other devices):
"/pci@1f,4000/network@1,1" 0 "hme"
"/pci@1f,4000/pci@4/SUNW,hme@0,1" 1 "hme"
The first entry corresponds to the hme device on the motherboard.
The second entry corresponds to the hme device on the SunSwift-PCI
card.
In the previous lines:
The first part within the double quotes specifies the hardware node
name in the device tree.
The second number is the instance number.
The last part in double quotes is the driver name.
In the device path name, the last component after the last / character
and before the @ character is the device name.
The path name before the last component is the parent name.
The comma-separated numbers after the @ character at the end
represent the device and function numbers, which are together referred
to as unit-address.
To identify a PCI device unambiguously in the hme.conf file, use the
name, parent name, and the unit-address for the device. Refer to the
pci(4) man page for more information about the PCI device specs.
In the first line of the previous example:
Name = network
Parent = /pci@1f,4000
Unit-address = 1,1
In the second line in the previous example:
Name = SUNW,hme
Parent = /pci@1f,4000/pci@4
Unit-address = 0,1
2.Set the ipg1 and ipg2 parameters for the above two devices in the
/kernel/drv/hme.conf file:
name = "SUNW,hme" parent = "/pci@1f,4000" unit-address = "1,1" ipg1=10
ipg2=5;
name = "SUNW,hme" parent = "/pci@1f,4000/pci@4" unit-address = "0,1"
ipg1=20 ipg2=10;
Note that for the motherboard device, the SUNW,hme device is used even
though the path name uses the name network. The SUNW,hme device name
is the value of the compatible property for this device.
