Hi Pal,
How to find out the browser url(full path) in forms10g
whether it is possible to get it or any workaround is their.
Please send the logic as soon as possible.
Working Environment
Forms10g : Developer suite 10g
Database : Oracle 11g
Operating system :Window XP

This information is very complicated to obtain. I think that it could be possible with Forms 11g, and only if the Form is displayed in the browser window (separateFrame=false).
I'm sure that it would be easyer to store the url in an environment variable on the AS, then request this variabel withi Forms via the TOOL_ENV.Getvar() builtin.....

Go to the Transaction iview and open as object.
Go to the property Quick Link and add a name to it. (say 'abc').
Then open the url
http://<urportal>:<port>/irj/portal/abc
After login, it will directly open the iview in the portal.
Note that the iview should assingn to a role and this role is assigned to a user

In my Java web project, the multi-lingual issue on the JSP pages is handled by JSTL. It works fine so far for any input messages. However, some messages come from the container. It is needed to find out the browser's country and language settings inside of the container. My question is how to find out the settings?

A28. Yes. HTTP/1.1 defines the details of how content negotiation works, including language content.
WWW browsers send an Accept-Language request header specifying which languages are preferred for responses. This technique works fairly well, although some versions of Netscape Navigator send an improperly formatted request parameter. Also, switching language preferences in either Navigator or IE 4 doesn't always "take" without first deleting a language hint.
Few sites do content-negotiation on language, and interestingly enough I do not know of any major portals doing this. One site that does is Sun's documentation library at SunDocs. Debian.org does a very nice job of using Apache content negotiation wih languages and also has some nice help info too on Setting the Default Language.
Apache's Content Negotiation features will select the right page to return, whether HTML or image file. Annoyingly, the match logic is very literal, so a browser request for en-us will not match a server entry of en except as a last resort. Any other exact match will win over en, even if en-us was first preference.
There are 2 ways of doing content negotiation with Apache: type or variant maps and multiviews.
Variant Maps
In httpd.conf, disable Options Multiviews if configured and add

Multiviews
The multiviews technique works like this. This does add extra server load, as each content directory must be scanned for the variant document names.
index.html is localized into variant documents such as:
index.html.en (or index.en.html)
index.html.fr
index.html.es
index.html (or index.html.html as a reader has recommended) symlinked to one of the above as the last resort.
Here's an example of http.conf directives for this:

AddLanguage fr .fr
AddLanguage es .es
# LanguagePriority allows you to give precedence to some languages
# in case of a tie during content negotiation.

It is strange. The link is on a different http site eg. http://www.othersite.com. The link is pointing https://www,mysite.com/index.html. I put the alert(document.referer) on the index.html. Using FireFox will show the alert http://www.othersite.com every time. However, on IE, the first time is empty. The second time I click on the link, it will show http://www.othersite.com. Very consistent.

i have created a project with the Developer Studio. Now i have an ear file which i have deployed on the WAS.
My Problem is that i don`t know the URL of my Project (its with different servlets and jsp).
In the "J2EE first"-Tutorial is the URL as followed explained:
http://<yourhost>:50000/<contextRoot>/<Name_of_JSP.jsp>
so the URL for the example is:
http://localhost:50000/Calculator/Calculator.jsp.
But in the Email Tutorial is the URL not so easy assembled. Its there:
http://localhost:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/EmailWS/EmailWSApp
You see? It`s much more complex.
In Tomcat it's really easy, the URL is
http://localhost:8085/ESVEAP/start.do
The Name of my ear file is ESVEAP and the context root is esv.
So can you help me to find out the URL of my Project?

Hi Toni,
it depends on the type of your project. If it's a "normal" Web project with JSPs, then the first two URLs are correct (if you don't change something in the configuration). If it's a Web Dynpro project, the second one is correct. WD applications are started by a specialized dispatcher servlet, so the parts ".../webdynpro/dispatcher/" address the servlet, the next part addresses the Web Dynpro EAR "local/EmailWS/" the final part addresses the WD application name "..EMailWSApp".

Finding out the userid from a JSP or servlet. (9.0.2)

I have a JSP in the htdocs directory of my portal which fetches binary objects
from a content repository. I use this binary.jsp to display images embedded
in a content portlet shown within the portal. So as far as the browser gots
the portal page it starts to fetch the images with an ordinary get operation
to a given URL of the binary.jsp.
Now I want to be able to find out if the current user is allowed to see the
image from the content repository, so I have to find out the userid within
the JSP. But I couldn't find any way to do this. Since the binary.jsp is
not loaded in the context of the portal, it doesn't know anything about
the PortletRendererRequest, so thi code returns null:

We allready done this with the old version of PDK and JServ and
everything was OK, except that we used the deprecated API

No both ways doesn't work, since we are using Orion-Appserver
and PDK 9.0.2 :-(
Is there anyone out there with an idea how we can solve
this problem?

I could understand what you are lookig for. We can probably relie on cookies to share user information between portal & non-portal resources.
Example :
Lets say we have a contributor.jsp viewed through portal. This sets up a cookie in the client machine which carries portal user name. It persists till the end of user session.

I have field (say, its name is field_1) in my_form and i am coloring yellow by using below code of initialization event:

note that as in the last - file names are ignored, it works by checking the beginning of each file's data against it's database, and as in #2 it can sometimes see a lot more than just the file format.

You can move file named places.sqlite from your old profile to the new one. It contains bookmarks and browsing history.

If you don't care about saving your current bookmarks, you can skip creating new profile (Firefox does it by itself at first run anyway).
I'd might suggest you to install addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2410/|Xmarks Bookmark and Password Sync]. It is a free web service which synchronizes bookmarks and (optionally) passwords with central server, and then to other computers, if you installed it on more. You may treat is as a backup too.

How to find out podcast's URL (to add it manually; iTunes Store error -9812

I'm trying to subscribe to the free podcast called TEDtalks. I've located it in the iTunes Store, but when I hit "subscribe", I get "unknown error -9812". Same thing when I try to log in to the store. Nothing I've tried helps resolve this error (it started after I added some SSL certificates to my keychain). Anyway, I want to add the URL to this podcast to iTunes manually (through the Advanced menu). How do I find out the URL? I've done this before for other podcasts, but I just can't seem to figure out what the URL is for this one. I can subscribe to it on another Mac; if I do that, can I get it to display the URL it's using so that I can add it by hand?
