Find SCN number of a transaction

Is it possible to find SCN number of a transaction made yesterday?

Hi,
I guess you are using atleast oralce 8i and if your answer is yes you can use oralce new utility called logminer.if you want to know the exact scn of the particular trancation you can use v$logminer_contents view to get the desired scn,but prior of that you need to execute some steps to get your logminer work.

How to find Spool number for a 2 steps background job.

Hi All,
How to find spool number (and also the background job name ) for a 2 steps background job.
in the table TBTCO i can see step numbers but i dont get the spool number. Is there any link between TBTCO and TSP01.
Also after getting the spool number i need to drill down on ALV report. I hard coded the spool number and was able to drill down using BDC and call transaction but when i press back button it is not returning to the ALV report.

Which one creates the spool? (first one I guess)
What kind of spool? (WRITE, sapscript, smartform, pdf...)
Do you use special statements like NEW-PAGE, or other things?
Are you sure that the spools are generated by these jobs? (did you compare the spool generation times and job run dates to be sure...)

Hi,
Here is a program to generate no of records and list of ODS and Cubes in Active version.Schedule this program in background and create a cube to load this information and schedule to the data from the file generated by the program. Schedule this all per you requirement.
1.Copy the code into your Z<programname> from Se38.
2.change the FILENAME in CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD' in the program to the location from where you can pick the information to load data to cube(eg Application server).
3.Save program.
4.Schedule the program in background as required
5.Create cube with infoobjects to hold no of records and Infoprovider name
6.Load this cube based on event after the program job is done.
Hence you can report on this cube to see no of records in CUBE or ODS in your box.

How can I determine what is the minimum SCN number I need to restore up to.

Say if I have a full database backup, I know I have file inconsistency, but I want to know what is the minimum time or SCN number a need to roll forward to in order to be able to open the database?

I've discover I need to apply archive logs until this query reports all datafiles as FUZZY=NO , but this only works by guessing at some time periord to roll forward to, then checking the FUZZY column, and try again. Is there a way to know, I have to roll forward to a specific SNC in order for all my datafiles to be consistent?

The minimum point in time is the time when the last backup piece for datafiles in that backup was completed.
Your alert.log should show the redo log sequence number at that time.
You can query V$ARCHIVED_LOG and get the FIRST_CHANGE# of the first archivedlog generated after that backup piece completed.
A
LIST BACKUP;in RMAN should also show you the SCNs at the time of the backups.
You can also query SCN_TO_TIMESTAMP -- eg
select timestamp_to_scn(to_timestamp('15-MAR-09 09:24:01','DD-MON-RR HH24:MI:SS')) from dual;will return an approximation of the SCN.

Hi,
if you want to know the number of employees, then u should use the infotype PA00001 and PA0000 with appropriate criteria. Infotype PA0002 should not be used to find the number of employees in the HR.
As you requested there are no specific BAPI to find the records. Hope this helps you.
Or u can use PAR2 transaction to find details.

Query to find vendor number with whom a particular item was last purchased.

I want to frame a SQL query to find vendor number with whom a particular item was last purchased.
I got to know that we can find this by looking at the open Purchase Order or the Material Transactions for the transaction type of ‘PO Receipt’ whichever is the latest.
Can anyone please help me in framing such query.

Here is a hint
Use the mtl_system_items_b table to get the inventory_item_id.
Use it in the po_lines_all table to get po_header_id
Use it in po_headers_all table to get vendor_id
Use it in po_vendors to get segment1 (i.e. vendor#)

SCN Number

Hi,
When is the SCN number exactly generated. I read that it is generated when commit happens. If that is the case. How does oracle know that (when rolledback) which transaction to roll back. I mean how does it monitor all the transactions ( Both commited and uncommited).

You don't need to worry about the SCN, oracle will take care of it. About the uncommitted transactions,there are couple of places where oracle keeps this info that the transaction is still alive. The very first is the transaction header of the data block where this info is alive that the status of the transaction is still Active. Also, the buffer's status is marked by oracle as dirty thus tells to the the dataabase that the buffer is no more consistent. The second place where this info is kept and also, from where its cleared in the first place when the tranaction gets over ( irrespective of commit/rollback) is the transaction table which is kept in the Undo segment header . In each of the undo segment , this info is kept and that's the place where Oracle finally goes and confirms that whether the transaction is still alive or not. And how oracle knows which undo segment to go, its kept in the transaction header in the form of the undo byte address (UBA) .

v$log_history will still have entries but if there is no log switch happend between these hours then this select will not provide any result see below:
