Finder reorganising my folders in documents
Since updating Lion to 10.7.1 when I open Documents folder in Finder my folders have sometimes been rearranged into alphabetical order, even though I have "none' selected. Is this a bug? I use Icon view.
In Panther/Leopard I would have deleted the cache file to see whether this cured it - but I can't see an obvious cache to delete.
Well I've now been able to work out when this happens.
I keep my documents arranged in 'none' - actually a pattern I can use quickly based on the colour labels.
When I use Pages (iwork 09 with the updates) and save a document, the Documents folder reverts to Alphabetical order. Possibly the same sort of thing happened in Mail.
I would be exceedingly grateful for any advice or help since this didn't happen before. For example what is Lion using to show the folders when saving in pages: Quick look? Spotlight? Something else?
Can someone please try to see whether their system does the same?

Finder keeps changing the order of folders and documents. Is there a way to have everythning remain in alphabetical order? The way it works now makes it difficult to find a specific folder or doc from a long list.
In the Finder click the list icon and then sort by name. Is this what you mean?

Here is what I understand that you want to
do :
Let's assume, there is a custom document
of type PurchaseOrder, you want to find
all folders that contain PurchaseOrder
documents.
It will end up with some SQL looking
like this.

folder.id = fpr.leftobject and
fpr.rightobject = po.id;
You just need two JoinQualifications.
Each clause in the WHERE condition
above represents one joinqualification.
jq1.setLeftAttribute("FOLDER", null);
jq1.setRightAttribute("FOLDERRELATIONSHIP", "LeftObject");
jq2.setLeftAttribute("FOLDERRel..SHIP", "RightObject");
jq2.setRightAttribute("PurchaseOrder", null);
Then use AND operator betwen jq1 and jq2.

Finder does not show new documents or images
Hi,
I have a new macbook pro (10.5.6) and installed the official Office 2008 for Mac on it. For weeks now I have the same problem that when I create new documents (word and jpg) and save them in the chosen folders in 'documents', they don't show up when I check the same folder in the finder window. While they are there for they show up when attaching them to my mail.
Then, as soon as the documents are a couple of days old, they do show up in the finder window. Does anybody have this problem or/and know how to resolve this?

2) Grab a copy of MainMenu (Free) and once installed select 'Other Tasks' then 'Remove .DS_store files' then Reboot. -
what is the name of the folders which are the backup of Itunes library? I am recovering from a virus, have no workable desktop in Win XP, but can search and find files and folders. I would like to move these backup files to a new computer, authorize it and sync with Iphone 3Gs and Ipod 5th gen.
II second the whole iTunes folder approach.
If for some reason you have split the media folder from the library files then the media folder needs to restored to the same path it used to have while the library files can be copied into the music folder of your new profile.
If in dobut, backup up the entire Documents and Settings folder before wiping the infected drive, but be selective about what you restore as many viruses drop active components capable of reinfecting the compuer in the temp folders and internet caches. It is much easier to backup more than you need than to discover after the fact that you no longer have access to some vital project you'd been storing in a folder on the desktop.

i am currently running a trial version of indesign. i am trying to make a cd booklet. when i open a new document and try to find 'compact disc' in the document presets, it isn't there. all i have for options are 'default and custom'. is it possible to open the 'compact disc' preset from a trial version?

Spotlight used to show the location of document when I hovered the mouse over an item in its list. It no longer does this. Now it tells me that a document exists and allows me to open the document, but doesn't tell me where to find the document. How do I use Spotlight to find the location of a document?

Open System Preferences > Spotlight then select the Search Results tab.
Select the all the categories for the search results you want.
Restart your Mac.
If that didn't help the Spotlight preferences may be corrupted.
Go to ~/LIbrary/Preferences
Move the com.apple.spotlight.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Try Spotlight.

The word app has disappeared from my desktop computer and can't be found on finder or search. All documents I created on word will now not open unless in "TextEdit" format which I don't use. Any ideas please? Thanks

My macbook screen doesn't work so I have connected it to the TV and now nothing works, I can't see the dock or the finder bar, no folders on desktop either. I don't know what to do!
Do you see anything on the TV?
If you just see your desktop, then your MacBook is defaulting to extended display mode. Try pressing the Command + F1 keys to see if you get the menu bar and other icons.

Want to list Folders and Documents in Browse of Link, Attachement, etc
Dear friends,
Configured KM with 5 Query Based Taxonomies .
My requirements is that, i want to create a Link to a Document from different taxonomies or in a same taxonomy.
Let me explain you clearly.
When i try to create a Link (Not external), it gives a new window asking target. Clicking on Browse button of Target popups a new window asking the source with Favorites, Personal Documents, Recently Used, Common Folders, Public Documents, More... and the list of Documents/Folders available on where i tried to create Link.
But clicking on folders listed i.e. Favorites, Personal Documents, Recently Used, Common Folders, Public Documents, More... gives only the Folders. No documents will be listed. I want both Folders and Documents should be listed, while doing this operation.
This feature is required in Email Attachment, Moving Document, Copying Document, ... many other places.
Please any body help me
