What version are you on and what version of opatch?
To find out what PSU's you have applied, you can do this at OS level
$> opatch lsinv -bugs_fixed | grep -i psu
From database (depending upon your version), you can do this to find all patches applied to your database:
col ACTION format a15
col NAMESPACE format a15
col version format a10
col COMMENTS format a42
col BUNDLE_SERIES format a20
col action_time format a30
select * from sys.registry$history;do we apply this for individual databases or for complete oracle software.

Some patches are for software only while some affect both software and database. This is very generic question/answer

  • Finding CPU patches on oracle support

I could open a ticket and ask, but that would be a while for a response. Possibly days. So I am going to the patch screen. I am doing a search for CPUJUL2010 and nothing comes back. I need the July one on Solaris Sparc 64 bit.
on the left there is a security link with a bar graph. I click that and I get alot of things, but I do not get one for 11.1.0.7 (I think 11.1.0.6 will work, but I don't see it. I can check the notes). How do I find exactly what I am looking for? The search feature doesn't work. When I do a search the back button does not appear to work either.
I also opened up one of the cpu patch notes (not the one I want). All I get is al ist of bug fixes. Is there an easier way than going to each patch and reading the readme notes to see what is fixed? I need to go through all of this to tell management whether there is a critical security whole we just have to patch. I doubt there is, but I need to check.

for future refrerence. how do i easily find the MOS note for a new CPU patch.
I dont see a socument that tells me with an overview what is in the CPU patch. I see one, but it just lists a bunch of Patches that are in it and I have to go to each document. That is what I see in the readme. The other documents don't appear to have it.

  • Where can I find CPU parameters and status?

Hello, I'm seeing posts where people are monitoring their CPU's in ways that I'm not able to find on my G5 for example which ones are active/inactive, temperature readings etc. Could someone point me to where these settings are?
I think I'm having CPU related issues ... Screen randomly going black, external hard drives disappearing or not booting up and programs getting error messages referring to CPU overload. Please help!

  • I want to quiet down a P4 1.6A CPU fan and Sparkle PSU

    Hi,
I want to quiet down my P4 1.6A CPU fan and PSU fan....
    A) I have a MSI 845G-MAX-L motherboard with Winbond monitoring chip. I notice that the CPU fan RPM goes up when temperature goes up. Is this normal on all boards, or is this an extra nice feature specific to MSI boards with Winbond chip???
    B) I've already put a FanMate to the CPU fan, and it runs at 1500 RPM, but I can still hear it.... so now I have a Zalman fan bracket (FB123) and am searching for a 80MM which has RPM sensoring, to give me some feedback in the BIOS and MBM5. Any suggestions on a quiet 80MM which has RPM sensoring.... (I've tried Coolermaster and Vantec.. they are both noisy to me.... I tried Panaflo but I want the RPM sensor so I can tell if the Winbond chip is doing it's job of speeding up the fan when the CPU temp goes up....
    C) I have a Sparkle 300W-BTV PSU. Does Sparkle solder on the PSU fan tail to the pcb or do they use some pin header?? I'll probably replace the PSU fan with Panaflo. Also does Sparkle use a thermistor to control fan speed or is it just one speed? I can use the Coolermaster DAF-B82 which is quiet at startup (1000 rpm) at 20 C.
    D) I am thinking about getting the OCZ P4 eliminator passive heatsink.... anyone using it or seen a review of it? Can the Alpha 8942 run in passive mode with no CPU fan? I only have the Sparkle PSU fan as the exhaust fan in my Coolermaster ATCS-200 aluminum case.
    Thanks.....

My CPU runs at 37 C at idle and the CPU fan is at 2400 RPM.  When running loaded (at 100% utilization after 1 hour) my CPU temp runs at 41 C and the CPU fan is at 2800 RPM.   During the summer when ambient temps were very high I've seen my CPU temps at 43 C and CPU fan speed at 3000 RPM.
I read a little on the Intel Precision Cooling Technology.  I believe that the Intel Precision Cooling is capable of adjusting the SYSTEM case fans (along with the CPU fan).   It seems that Intel went one step further by adding in SYSTEM fans and then adding in the ability for the user to control both the CPU fan and SYSTEM fans based on temperature.
What I'm wondering is if all or most P4 motherboards adjust  the CPU fan speed based on CPU temp (in real time), or is this just something new that MSI did in their later boards like my 845G MAX?  Anyone have other P4 MB (other than the obvious ones by Asus and the ones which have the Intel Precision Cooling) who can comment?

  • CPU patch for 10.2.0.4.0

    I am using oracle 10gr2.4.0,
    platform: hp-ux itanium 11.31
i would like to apply CPU patch or PSU.
    cpu patch :8836308
    PSU patch 8833280
    will you please clarify...

A PSU (or PatchSet Update) include the CPUs (or Critical Patch Update) and several individual patches (one off-patched) which are not included into a single CPU.
Depending of your shop policies, PSU could be more appropriate.

  • FTPing .zip CPU patch files...

    Hi
I have downloaded a .zip file for Oracle CPU Patch and wants to move it to UINX server. After connecting the UNIX server, beofre I say "put <filename>"...do I have to say "binary"?
Your answer will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards
    Ahmed.

    Hello,
Besides the previous answer, generally (if you click on the patch detail) you have the size of the zip file in bytes.
    For instance:
Size 1.1G (1123325074 bytes) So, once you have sent the zip file on the Unix server, you can check if it's size is correct.
    Hope this help.

    Platform : AIX 6.1
Found a similair post by spiral in OTN on. But couldn't find the answer there; hence posting this
We install grid using Grid Installer GUI. When doing a fresh installation of Grid Infrastructure 11.2.0.2 or 11.2.0.3 in a new server , I want to apply its latest PSU as well. When should I do this PSU patching ?
    A. Should I apply the GI PSU after the entire Grid installation is successfully completed ?
    or
    B. Should I apply the GI PSU just before running the root.sh ?
ie. when the installer prompts you to run root.sh (see the screenshot below)

At this stage(before running root.sh) the GI binaries are in place . So , I can apply the PSU on these binaries? Right?Should I follow option A or B above ?

    Hi,
    A. Should I apply the GI PSU after the entire Grid installation is successfully completed ?Yes, You must finish installation sucessful and after apply PSU
    B. Should I apply the GI PSU just before running the root.sh ?
ie. when the installer prompts you to run root.sh (see the screenshot below)

At this stage(before running root.sh) the GI binaries are in place . So , I can apply the PSU on these binaries? Right?Yes you should finish (close) runInstaller after root.sh, so you can apply PSU, because if you start opatch with OUI (runInstaller) running the Inventory will be locked.
Also you have a option to decide if you want to use the Software Updates option during Installation.
OUI can install critical patch updates, system requirements updates (hardware, operating system parameters, and kernel packages) for supported operating systems, and other significant updates that can help to ensure your installation proceeds smoothly. Oracle recommends that you enable software updates during installation.
If you choose to enable software updates, then during installation you must provide a valid My Oracle Support user name and password during installation, so that OUI can download the latest updates, or you must provide a path to the location of an software updates packages that you have downloaded previously.
If you plan to run the installation in a secured data center, then you can download updates before starting the installation by starting OUI on a system that has Internet access in update download mode. To start OUI to download updates, enter the following command:
$ ./runInstaller -downloadUpdatesProvide the My Oracle Support user name and password, and provide proxy settings if needed. After you download updates, transfer the update file to a directory on the server where you plan to run the installation.

  • How to apply CPU patch

    Hi...guys...
I want to apply the CPU patch for 2-NODE RAC Database..
Actually I never applied patches..plz can any one guide me how to apply the CPU patches for RAC...
    As per as my knowledge..
    1.apply the patch for clusterware.
2.apply the patch for database level...
    is its right...
Another thing is how to upgrade the 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4 for RAC ...
    plz help me..

    Hi,
you are right, clusterware always has to be on the same or higher patchlevel as/than the database so you will patch it first. Generally, the hardest part is finding the patch on metalink, once you have found it, there is a readme with every patch that has very detailed instructions on what to do. For CPUs and other patches, you will generally bring down services on one node, then run opatch on that node. Once it is done patching, it will tell you to restart all services on that first node and shut down services on the other node(s). Once you hit OK opatch will continue to patch the remote hosts.
The upgrade to 10.2.0.4 will be a bit more complicated. AFAIR there is a real installer with that one and once you are done patching the software you also have to patch the database itself which means downtime.
