Is there any way to find the NLS_LANG of a particular session?

No "standard" function returning client character set (at least I didn't find one), but we can use Java, if this is not a problem for you. See http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/8i/ShellCommandsFromPLSQL.php

But for idle sessions that you want cleared immediately you can use
ALTER SYSTEM DISCONNECT SESSION . . . IMMEDIATENOTE - this acts differently than the 'KILL SESSION' syntax typically used.

i got a ChangePassword.jsp which i retrieve the username from session using bean to display on e page..

but in my servlet, i wan to retrieve records from database with tat username..
i tot of coding

and then use tat username to retrieve records.. but is that e right way? The page did not display and i got a CastingException..

If it is null, then you are probably not setting it right in the first place. Make sure that in your servlet A you create a session, and before you return or forward to a jsp, that you actually set this value in the session like saying
session.setAttribute("usernamePassword", usernamePassword);
and it is case sensitive for the key. -
How to delete a row from database table in facade client
Hi all,
I followed the tutorial in creating a persistence entity from database table, then a session facade. Then I followed the tutorial to create a sample client to test the model. In the session facade, I could use persistEntity method to insert a record to the database. I am just thinking of an extension to the tutorial, i.e., being able to delete the record too. So I created a new method removeEntity in the session facade

entity=em.merge(entity);
em.remove(entity);
em.flush();
and called it in the sample client. It was executed without any error, but the record in the table still exists.

Retriving data from database through EntityBean to WebDynpro

I have integrated my EJB appliaction into WebDynpro via Data Access Command Bean.
Here is my scenario.
1.Created a Dictionary Project,
2.Created a EntityBean,
In Entity Bean, i have created a finder method using the query - FindByAllAccounts
used the EJB QL to retrieve the records from the database using the following syntax in EntityBean.

Command Bean invoked the session bean, viewAllServiceTypes. It returns the resultSet dataType
In Web Dynpro, add the code shown below in the QueryAll button and also, the EAR file is added to the Web Dynpro as a sharing reference
After the execution of my WebDynpro,
it returns no records. It should return 2 records. I dont know where it goes wrong.

Here what my doubt is, the return of the Entity bean and Session Bean is Collection type.
If i store the retrieved records in collection Object like vector, how can i differentiate each record to display as individual.
anyway I tried by converting the Collection Object to ResultSet.

Auxillary class is required to store the data from the entity bean in a form that can be displayed.
For this purpose, the auxillary class must contain a field for each relevant value. The fields will be named similar to their definition in the entity bean.
For example:Entity Bean has persistent fields id, firstname, lastname.
Auxillary Class should contain all these fields and getter and setter method to access these fields.
In your EJB module project give this auxillary class project reference.
In the session bean parse the collection of Entitty Bean local references and convert it to collection of auxillary class reference.
In the command bean declare a collection type variable, write getter and setter methods for this variable, call the session bean method and assign it declared collection type variable.You dont need to write any logic inside command bean method.

How to find NLS_LANG parameters are valid
Hi,
I have Oracle Application Server 10g installed in Linux machine A.
and i have installed Oracle Database 10g installed on linux machine B.
now i have Developer Suite installe in my Windows XP machine and i have developed a fmb file. now i want to compile the fmb file in linux machine A and run the fmx file so the form can access data from database from machine B.
now i get errors while trying to compile the fmb file and i believe it is because NLS_LANG parameters are not set correctly on either or both machine A, B
how can i find whether the NLS_LANG are valid.
and if not valid, how to fix it and fix them to what valid values?
Can someone help me please.

Using f90gen to compile Forms modules generates errors:
FRM-91500: Unable to start/complete the build.
F90genm compiles without errors.
Cause
The problem is caused by Bad Magic Number for a Shared Library and the missing NLS_LANG variable in the f90gen.sh.
Solution
Steps
~~~~~
1. cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
chatr +s enable f90gen
Basically, "chatr" enables or disables LD_LIBRARY_PATH and SHLIB_PATH for the executables.
2. Set LD_LIBRARY_PATH as follows :
$ORACLE_HOME/lib:$ORCLE_HOME/jdk/jre/lib/PA_RISC/server:/usr/lib/X11R6:/usr/dt/lib:/usr/lib/
Set SHLIB_PATH as follows :
$ORACLE_HOME/lib32:$ORACLE_HOME/forms90/lib:$ORCLE_HOME/jdk/jre/lib/PA_RISC/server:/opt/java1.4/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/dt/lib
The installation of 10g on HP-UX 64 bit contains two "lib" areas.
$ORACLE_HOME/lib32 - 32 bit libs
$ORACLE_HOME/lib - 64 bit libs
Both of these directories contain libraries of the same name. To ensure that 32 bit executables will be used : Search the 32 bit library directory and set:
$LD_LIBRARY_PATH - includes $ORACLE_HOME/lib, but not $ORACLE_HOME/lib32
$SHLIB_PATH - includes $ORACLE_HOME/lib32, but not $ORACLE_HOME/lib
3. Set a valid value for the NLS_LANG variable.
eg:
$export NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1
4. Verify that the TERM and ORACLE_TERM are set to vt220. If not, set these variables:
$export TERM=vt220
$export ORACLE_TERM=vt220

Unable to execute Map from Database link
Hi
Been trying to research this issue but have had no luck in finding an answer. Here is the situation:
We have an apex application that resides on database "A"
Our OWB Design Repository (11.1.0.7) and Runtime Environment both exist on database "B"
Maps exists and execute under normal procedures as the "ETL" user on database "B", However we would like to allow the "APEX" user to execute a map from database "A" across a database link to a user that can execute the map without any issue.
When we try to execute the map across the database link from toad or sqlplus we get no error returned, the procedure runs and kicks off a map execution (as seen in ALL_RT_AUDIT_EXECUTIONS) or from the control center executions. However the Map execution immediately fails with no explanation as to why??
what makes even less sense is that the user on database "B" that the database link connects to.. can execute the same procedure all day long if logged directly into database "B".. but the moment you try to call it across the database link.. it errors with no message as to why.
We are calling the "WB_WORKSPACE_MANAGEMENT.SET_WORKSPACE".. so that is not the issue.. I am assuming this is either a bug.. or we are missing an additional call/privilege. The user for the database link is a registered user in the workspace, obviously this works since the database link user can run the procedure if logged in locally to database "B"
Any thoughts???Figured out our problem..
Found RETURN_CODE column in ALL_RT_AUDIT_EXECUTIONS table.. point to -2064 which is an ora-2064
NOTE 1026597.6 - CALLING REMOTE PACKAGE RECEIVES ORA-2064 explains that a commit is issued in a coordinated session from an RPC procedure call with OUT parameters or function call. Action: simplify remote update statement.
The problem here is that "Commit Control" was set to Automatic for the mappings we were calling. Oracle does not like when a transaction is initiated on database "A" and has a commit issued on database "B" from the map.
Makes sense.. we switched the commit control to "Manual" and are able to process correctly by issuing a commit from the session on database "A"

Foto.getPhoto() returns the image file as a binary array.
In the jsp page that I want to display the image, I wrote

I see that the image processed, but nothing is displayed in the page. When I wrote the foto.jsp directly in the address bar, the image is retrieved properly and the page tries to process it as a file(tries to find a plugin for displaying the image file, that I dont want to.).

Script to find the Concurrent Request ID from its associated SID

In one of my production system, my server load is going very high. From the top used process ID of server, I found the SID and found out that the program running is "ora_rw20_run@acgerp (which is a concurrent program)
How do I find out the Request ID using the SID/PID? Can someone please provide me the script to find the Concurrent Request ID from its associated SID?
Thanks!There has been no new changes in the report server or in the database. Suddenly of late, we have been observing this program running and it never ends, consuming major part of the cpu load. Not sure what this program is -> ora_rw20_run. There is no mention about it in metalink or in google.

When I use the below query, I can find that the session is running a module named "PAXMGSLS" and the action is Concurrent Request.
But I am not sure how to find out the Concurrent Request ID using this info to dig more (look into the concurrent request log files etc)

Unable to access values from database in login page..
Hey all,
Friends I have a login.jsp page and I want if i enter username and password then it will be accessed from database and after verifying the details it will open main.jsp.I made a database as "abc" and created DSN as 1st_login having table 1st_login. But the problem is that I am unable to access values from database.

say (1-100) for 100 rows
In the program use random function to get random number between 0 and 1. this value u multiply with 100(or total number of rows) and take integer value of it . u then perform sql query to select the a row which matches randomly genarated value with row-id assigned to each row of database

</html>i think normally u will get data from databsae as objects.they are like java beans having getter and setter methods.so you create a collection of those objects like collect all the objects coming from database into an arraylist or....
suppose you want to populate the dropdown box with say "username" from database object s, your code will look like that

Garage Band 3.0.4 (104.7)Normally, GB does a pretty good housekeeping job with the audio files: If you are not using a recording at all in you project, it gets deleted next time you save your project. (That means: not using even a fraction of a second - otherwise the whole audio is kept, since GB's edits are non-destructive.)
Having said that - if you want to check, the audio recordings are in a folder inside the project package: ctrl-click the project in the Finder, select "show package content", and look inside the media folder. Be careful - deleting stuff from that folder that you think the project isn't using might confuse GB.
