Finding specified numeric values, and organizing pages as such.

Hi,
First and foremost I know nothing about java, I want to learn, however at the current time I am teaching myself VBA so a full dive into Java will have to wait.
With that being said, I have carton labels that my company uses to place on cartons marking things such as shipping information, carton number, store number etc.
When the customer sends us the carton labels they come in pdf format and are organized in order of book SKU number. We need them to be organized in order of store number, which has it's own box/field on the carton label. Now it doesn't matter if something along the lines of a script searches for a whole text match, then pulls those pages into an excel spreadsheet or another pdf, and goes one by one through the numbers.
The carton labels are a single label per page, so that makes it easier, I just havne't a clue how to program something like that in javascript. I wouldn't mind learning the language myself and doing it, but I am currently occupied studying VBA (as stated above).
I took a VB class in college, so I have had some exposure to programming. If someone could just lay it out for me about how I need to go about this, then I'm sure my friend google can help fill in the gapes. (the more detail when "laying it out" the better)
If you need anymore information than I've given just say so, but I've spent about a week purusing forums here there and little java tutuorials (practically useless) to see if I could at least get some idea of the logical process to step through the problem.  So, I really need someone to come through for me .
Thanks and Have a Nice Day,
-TheBookStacker

You need to pass your data in a variable which has a length of 10.
data: v_char(10) type c.
v_char = '1234'.
Then pass v_char to the function module.  You will then get a value like '0000001234'.

  • Numeric value and scientific notation

    Hi,
    with Oracle 8 or 10, the query (via TOAD or my app : Delphi + BDE)
    SELECT 0.0008 FROM DUAL returns 0.0008,
    but the query
    SELECT 0.00008 FROM DUAL returns 8E-5.
    Is there a way to avoid this display in scientific notation, except changing all my queries ? Or to push the limit for this display one digit later ?
    Maybe with an Oracle parameter ?
    Thanks for your help !

  • Limiting entry in a JTextField to numeric value and "%" value

    Hi,
    I want to allow the user to enter numeric value and % value
    How can I limit the user to make such a entry in JTextField

    Use the code given below to make your textfield accept only numeric values. You can modify itto include % values too.
    textField.setDocument( new TextFieldVerifier() );
    class TextFieldVerifier extends PlainDocument {
    public void insertString( int offset, String str, AttributeSet attSet ) throws BadLocationException {
    boolean valid = false;
    if ( str == null ) {
    return;
    String old = getText( 0, getLength() );
    /* insert the new string at the given offset, into the old string */
    String newStr = old.substring( 0, offset ) + str + old.substring( offset );
    try {
    /* check if the new string is a valid integer */
    Integer.parseInt( newStr );
    valid = true;
    } catch ( NumberFormatException ne ) {

    valid = false;
    Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().beep();
    if ( valid ) {

  • Creating a sound from an array of numeric values and playing it on speakers

    How do I create take a sound I have stored as an array (or could be an arraylist if needed) of numeric values (at the moment as doubles) whiten my program and output it to speakers? I am using blueJ.
    for example (0, 0.1, 0.4, 0.8, 0.9, 1, 0.8, 0.6, 0.3, 0.1, etc...) would be a very high frequency sin wave.
    Edited by: alan2here on Feb 6, 2008 11:28 AM

    I stumbled upon this thread with a question somewhat related:
    I've recorded a wave file from microphone. But what I would like is an array of numbers in the same way alan said. I'm also working on my own project involving signal processing (i'm trying to do speech recognition).
    I can't really find a nice way of getting that array of numbers. I've tried to find out how wave file stores it's data, and directly read from the File object, but i figured there should be an easier way...
    I used this code to read the sound:

             You may be surprised that here, just 'AudioSystem.write()' is

             that gets its data from a TargetDataLine, reading from the

             to the desired audio file type. Reading continues untill no
             more data can be read from the AudioInputStream. In our case,
             this happens if no more data can be read from the TargetDataLine.
             This, in turn, happens if the TargetDataLine is stopped or closed
             (which implies stopping). (Also see the comment above.) Then,
             the file is closed and 'AudioSystem.write()' returns.

  • Given a string, how do you find the numeric value in sparse ring?

    Situation: I receive the string value of the sparse ring, and a control reference to the same type of control, but not the control that sourced the string. How can I convert the string, into the actual numeric value of the ring? For example:
    Using the "VISA Select Event Type" ring (Functions -> Instrument I/O -> VISA -> Advanced -> Event -> Select Event Type.ctl), lets say I get the string "ServiceRequest" how do I convert that into 1073684491, the actual value of the ring?
    This is a rework of an existing function that worked fine with "normal" rings.
    Thanks.

    Unfortunately this method will not work, its a generic routine that must be able to take any ring, so I can't hardwire the cases to known outputs. And, of course, searching the array of Strings[] will just find me a useless index.
    My interm solution is this:
    1) pick a small, but likely range of possible values for the ring
    2) iterate through these values, assigning each one in turn to ring
    3) read the RingText property to see if it matches the passed string
    4) if it does, then exit. If it doesn't keep looping.
    5) if no value produces a matching string, declare defeat (raise an error or produce other output that indicates a match could not be found).
    The routine only runs in the UI so I am not too concerned about the time delay this method will i
    mpose, but I would greatly appreciate a smoother solution.
    Thanks for your suggestions.

  • Store an encrypted numeric value and make the unencrypted value visible to just some users in Apex

    I'm looking for a way to store an encypted numeric value in one field in a table (so that it appears encrypted even to a DBA) and to display the unencypted value in Apex forms and interactive reports for some users but not others.
    Any suggestions as to how I could achieve this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Try these documents:
    Using Column Masking to Display Sensitive Columns as NULL Values
    Using VPD in an APEX Application
    Securing Stored Data Using Transparent Data Encryption
    The features you request are Database Features.
    You could use DBMS_CRYPTO for data encryption instead of TDE, but you will have to create a package for your insert,update, deletes along with a view that allows decryption based on v('APP_USER').
    Also, you won't be able to search on that column if you use DBMS_CRYPTO.

  • Substring  only  the numeric values and  sum It

    Hi All,
    I have  Department Dim Object and Equivalent Base Detail Object. I have created the department as section. And the values for the Equivalent Base displays as follows
    Department 1
    16 OUNCE
    288 OUNCE
    Department 2
    UNIT
    12 COUNT
    Required Output:
    Total Equivalent Base
       Department 1
               304
        Department 2
               12
    now I need to  to display only the Total Sum of Equivalent base for each department.
    First  I tried to substring
    =Substr([Equivalent Base];1;3)
    And then I tried to sum it
    =sum(Substr([Equivalent Base];1;3))
    its giving me #Error
    Regards,
    Rahul Akurathi

    Hi Rahul,
    Is the following your source data?
    Col1, Col2
    Department 1,16 OUNCE
    Department 1,288 OUNCE
    Department 2,UNIT
    Department 2,12 COUNT
    And you want to get?
    Department1, 304
    Department2, 12
    If so my code did not allow for the Unit which had no number.
    you will need something like
    if(pos(([equilvant base]," ")>0;(if (IsNumber(trim(substr([equilvant base];1;pos(([equilvant base]," ")-1));sum(ToNumber(trim(substr([equilvant base];1;pos(([equilvant base]," ")-1)));0);0)
    The logic here is if there is no space then it does not contain a number, therefore use 0. If it has a space check the characters up to the space and see if they are a number. If yes convert to a number, otherwise use 0.
    Let me know how you get on

  • Bargraph,icon and a numeric value, together in a single column of advance datagrid

    Hiii,
    I am trying to embed an icon, a bargraph with two values and a numeric value in a single column of advance datagrid. can anybody help me out in giving a solution for this...I have read a  blog where the code explains about the bargraph in advance datagrid, I want to embed numeric value and icon too including bargraph in the column. RVR,
    This is a great exercise to get familiar with LabVIEW's array functions.  A great place to start is actually the LabVIEW help on arrays, located here:
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361B-01/lvconcepts/grouping_data_with/
    Depending on your data format, you can probably use the Read From Spreadsheet File VI to bring your data into a 2-d array.  You could then use the index array VI to pull your column out.  You could do this in a For loop and use Autoindexing to build your 1,000 column resulting array.  I would leave everything as a String format until I'm done.
    This doesn't sound like a very difficult task.  Good luck!

  • Validation To check numeric value

    ELSE
    RETURN FALSE;

    The function returning boolean should compare total amount and net amount and through error if it less than net amount.
    It works fine when the value of TOTAL amoun =365 and value of net amount = 364*(if it is all numeric value and no zero behind it)*
    But the problem is
    when is use Total amount = 9 and net amount = 100 (It doesnt works becuse it just takes 1 from the net amount and eliminates the zeros behind the 1(100) and it doesnt comes up with a error after validation )
    Is there any one who can help me with this
    Thanks,
    Hary

    Lev,
    I'm not sure I follow. If you use to_number with a format mask and the user doesn't follow your mask, you'll get an error:select to_number('1000','999G990') from dual;This throws an "ORA-01722: invalid number" exception. That's why I say to try calling to_number without a format mask first, to handle the trivial case of the user not putting in the grouping separators (or whatever else is involved in your format).
    You could, of course, put in a validation to make sure that the number follows the format you're expecting before you convert it (either for further validation, as in the original post, or for processing), but then you have multiple places where the format mask is specified--not to mention the annoyance for users when they put in a number only to be told that they need to use the appropriate grouping separators as well. My solution uses the data dictionary to get the format mask assigned to the page item and feeds that to to_number; if I change the page item's format mask, all of my processes automatically handle the new format. Because of the extra lookup, it's slightly slower than hard-coding the format mask, but that should be minimal as long as you don't use it in a where clause.

  • Percentages from Numerical Values Assigned to Text

    I am new to Excel and am having trouble with what I thought would be a simple formula.  I am trying to create a formula that will find the percentage of text in a single column.  Example, I am looking for the percentage of "Yes" to "No"
    values in a column, and am not sure if I should assign a numerical value and then try and create a formula that will calculate the percentage. I have had no luck so far, any help would be much appreciated.

    Assuming the yes/no values are in column A, the following formula with give the percentage of 'yes' entries in that column:
    =COUNTIF(A:A,"yes")/COUNTA(A:A)*100
    If you format the result as %, omit the *100.

  • Question regarding creation of xml-elements with numerical values

    When i create xml-documents from xml stored in the database (xmltype table based on an xml-schema), i find that numerical values which were stored as 0.395 (with the "." as the decimal separator) are retrieved as .395.
    Is it possible to apply a format mask so that the numerical value is retrieved as 0.395?
    thanks, Bart
    N.b. Note that i select a complete xml-fragment. So my problem seems related to the storage or retreival of 'schredded' XML. I do not use SQL/XML-functions with relational data, in which case i know how to apply a format mask.

    I don't use XSLT, i just query the XML-documents stored in an XMLType column with a simple SQL-statement.
    I have posted a simple example over here Re: Is it possible to influence the creation of empty elements?

  • How to find the RGB Values of a Color for Hyperion

    When customizing your Hyperion forms, we come across situations where we need the exact RGB value of a given color. This article explains a simple technique to find the RGB values using MS Paint and the Calculator applications that come as standard applications with your operating system.
    Here are the steps to find the exact RGB value of a given color.
    1) View your Hyperion form using IE, scroll down until you see the color you want to find the RGB value and press the "Print Screen" button (in your keyboard).
    2) Open MS Paint and click Edit -> Paste or simply Ctrl+V. What you saw in the browser will be copied as a new untitled image.
    3) Select the Color Picker tool and click on an area that has the color you want to match.
    4) Now go to Edit Colors... option and click on the "Define Custom Colors >>" button. The color you picked will be selected on this palette. At the bottom right hand corner you will see the Red, Green and Blue values you need. Note down the R,G,B values (given in decimal).
    5) Now we need to find out the hexa-decimal values that correspond to those decimal values. This is where we use the simple Calculator. Open the Calculator application from Program -> Accessories. Switch to the scientific mode by clicking View ->Scientific.
    6) By default it will be in the decimal number mode. Enter the R value (238 in this example) and click on the Hex radio button. The corresponding hexa-decimal value (EE in this case) will be shown in the dial.
    The selected color in this case has the same value for R, G and B. (In fact, all shades of gray has the same values for R, G and B.) Therefore, the RGB value of the background color that we need is #eeeeee. Repeat step 6 to find out the hex value for the Green and Blue elements, if they are different.
    Tip:
    If you find it difficult to pick a color, zoom the image by pressing Ctrl+PageDown or using View -> Zoom -> Custom... option.

    These tips are to find the RGB color of HFM default row where row is text and text lines in data columns are also visible to business users as Yellow as an input cell. By applying the same RGB color you can apply the same color to your data cells or rows. This post shows how to identify color from any web view-able object.
