Fingerhut??

So I applied to their fresh start program. And before accepting it I have been doing some reading. Consumer affairs has hundreds of bad reviews stating they will report late payments even if you are on time and such. Anyone have any experience with these guys?

My experience with the consumers affairs website is it is full of people who don't own up to their mistakes.....I have bad credit and am rebuilding and the cause of the bad credit was my fault. That being said I have read so many bad reviews for First premier, Credit one, Fingerhut, American Credit Acceptance (auto loan) and I have NEVER had any problems with payments or customer service....heck some even went above and beyond to get me help.  So if you make your payments online or through your banks bill pay then no you should never have problems but by mail....well I have never really sent a payment by mail so I can't say....I mean it could be that all those people made their payments by mail

  • Does ANYONE Know about FINGERHUT CLI ??

Anyone have info on getting a manual CLI with FingerHut??  I'm at a $250 limit and tis insane !!  Ive emailed the CEO as of tonight and 3 other execs, I hear many people get CLIs this way.  My credit profile ranges from $700-$3000 cards, all unsecured!  Barclay, NFCU, Western FCU gave me $1000 today!  Any other input?  Any emails I should use or phone numbers to try? I know they generically tell you they dont accept customer CLI's, but i'm not buyin'!   Thanks for any input, fellow credit zooms !

Thank you -- but I can't add more due to my scores of high 500s (took a hit after a collection appeared from 2011). So I get denied everywhere. My scores are TU 580 EQ 577 EX 604. Rebuilding still as well. So my goal was to build with FingerhutGotcha... makes more sense. Depending on how long you've had account open U should be receiving 'regular' CLIs. They are good in this way and report every month. They do however base CLIs on how much spend U put thru them. In theory this is a good idea - the problem is that everything on Fingerhut is way overpriced so that moderate spend with them usually equals low/moderate CLIs. But yes ppl hav received manual CLIs. A rather methodical process to be sure but thats why its call 'credit-building'. Unfamiliar with FH's inner workings beyond that but if U do receive success with your email campaign, report back.

  • NASA Auto Loan Questions

So I recently got approved for NASA membership and CC. I am also toying with the idea of getting a new car or truck. Currently drive a 07 Accord that has been paid of for a few years now. While I love having 0 car payments I kinda want something more sporty.
Anyone have any experience with NASA auto loans and their process? Im probably gonna shoot for end of year should I take on a new vehicle. My approval score for NASA according to the paperwork was 666Ex but myFico had me in the 640s so not sure what version they pull. Currently myFico has me in the 670s and that should only get better.
Any thoughts, help or even recommendations would be amazing. :-)

Aloha ,   Congrats on your approval membership with NASA Cu.first,  I would agree with you to wait until you improve your score, try to keep that beast first premier,Fingerhut down to a very low balance even $0 balance, its good to rebuild your credit but in the long run, it time you outgrew the high interest cards,Now that you got approved CC,with NASA try to put  usage with card and build up good payment history try to keep your utilities down under 20% when your ready to..I have a Checking account with NASA, others a happy but am in favor with NFCU, they are more in the same , my opinion NFCU better customer  service.   That being said, NASA CU  products in comparison are virtually the same,  good rates, competitively, I receive offers, the only headache I have with NASA when your need assistance, after hours can be a pain, but otherwise, stick to your goals   now your in with NASA and already have been aproved for a cc. You should be in good shape by the end of the year, sporting down the Kaumualiʻi Highway   Again , Ho'omaika'i ana , Pomaikai

Hello! Starting out for 2015 after about 7 years of just letting everything go after some really hard personal times.  Have a lot of work to do.  Several old accounts for small amounts dropping off 2015-2016 ;  No active revolving credit, use or open accounts as of 12/14 when we finally looked, only an open mortgage. Joint activity in this house as both of us, husband and wife, are pretty much in the same boat.  We had a series truly traumatic experiences and are hoping to rebound.  We are now used to purchasing solely on a cash basis so, using credit only as a tool to build our credit score should be no problem since for the past 7 years if we could not pay cash, we just waited til we could for everything. Goal:  Develop some lines of credit to start overshadowing the bad while working to get rid of the bad;  650 score by June 2015 first target Ultimate Goals:   Refinance mortgage before these low rates rise :  Maintain 720+ for both of us Steps Taken:  Since 12/16 did secure some starting credit lines to have a rebuild base: 1 - Fingerhut $500cl 2 - CapOne Quicksilver $300cl 3 - CapOne Platinum $300cl 4 - Walmart Store Card Auth User on spouse's new $300cl (they denied me, not sure why so took a hard hit there) Spouse since Nov 2014 has added: 1 - New Car Loan $27k 2 - Fingerhut $600cl 3 - WalMart Store Card $300cl 4 - CapOne Quicksilver $300cl 5 - CapOne Platinum $300cl 6 - CreditOne $300cl 7 - First Progress secured $300 (before she even imagined she would get unsecured approvals) 8 - Kay Jewelers $6000cl (really surprised with instore approval on this) Paid off one small collection we didn't know about from VZWireless now going back to VZ as we never stopped being a customer and they really screwed us up by not transferring balance when we went from personal to business account. Lots and lots of research reading on his forum as well as some other sites like Credit Karma etc:  using and paying to see movement in scores; PTD options; etc Pulled all credit reports ;  currently outlining plan for deletion of bad accounts;  all realy small amounts I could pay but need to invest the time to get PTD not just paid. Some start falling off on their own in Feb 2015 so, need to start a priority plan on who stays on longest and get rid of them. Hoping by joining and continuing on the forums for guidance we will keep the momentum to aggressively clean this up quickly and not just let the old stuff roll off over the next 14 months. Good luck everyone!!

Wow...  Didn't really realize how long it had been since I updated here... Quite a bit has happened! I'm only left with 3 or 4 of the above baddies as of now and my FAKO scores have climbed from the low 500's up to 580 - 590  range. So I'm happy about that for sure. Within the last week I applied for and was approved for a Fingerhut Account ($500), and a C1 Quicksilver One Card ($300). I also have a secured Mastercard with a $500 CL . The last few CA's are proving tough to deal with and I don't think they are going to fall off any time soon (I won't give up though!!)...  So I decided since my scores were creeping up to the 600 mark I should start rebuilding with new credit as you can see above. I'm very curious what kind of ceilings my score might see with these 3 or 4 baddies staying active? I know each credit profile is different, but I have seen some folks get as high as 660 - 680 even though they still have some CA's or other derogs reporting. This has been quite a challenge and definitely takes some perservance and close monitoring. It's still awesome to see the progress every one else is making, so ya'll keep it up!!Even with numerous derogs, as long as you keep up on everything, as those derogs age and you build current credit, its possible to hit 700 in about 2 years or so.Would this hold true even if the derogs are reporting on a monthly basis? Honestly could not say for sure - but if I had to geuss I would say probably not. The baddies I have left are with places notorious for not doing any PFD or GW removal. (CapOne, LVNV, First Premier)...  Should I just bite the bullet and pay these so at a minimum they stop reporting and as they age it will improve my score slowly? DoFD on all of them is throughout 2013 so they won't age off until 2020. Most of the experienced people will say yeah, if they are updating, bite the bullet so they can age. On another note, how much new, positive credit is enough? I have Fingerhut, 2 CapOne CC's and a Secured CC as well...  Obviously on time payments and CLI's will help over time...  I don't really want to go adding store cards (via SCT) for the sake of having more postiive TL's, but I will do it if it will help. My short term goal is to do whatever I can to get my scores close to 650ish so I can look at refinancing my current auto loan, or at a minimum getting a new auto loan and rolling negative equity into it so I can get rid of this 20% interest rate auto loan I currently have... It depends on how many negative accounts you have - the rule of thumb here is that you want more positive accounts than negative accounts (aside from collections). Thanks again to the community for all the help, and Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there!

Hey everyone!!!  I thought I would essentially start my credit rebuilding process with somewhat of a journal so to speak (as many others have done here, reading the stories and the progress is very inspirational!)...   I actually began doing this over a year ago when some life circumstances got in the way.  The only positive thing I managed to get done was completely rehabbing my defaulted SL's.  Now I have an account in good standing with Great Lakes.  I want to detail out all of baddies here and the actions I plan on taking so those of you with more experience and guidance can correct me if I'm headed in the wrong direction.  Be warned... I have a lot of garbage to take care of!!! First...  The Good: Auto Loan with Santander in good standing since 7/2013 - Would like to refi this when my score is better.  IR is awful currentlySL's with Great Lakes in good standing since 8/2014 Now THE BAD: Capital One Auto Finance:  Charged Off from a Repo in 2/2013.  Owed: $6,000 - Will attempt a PFD then a GW with OCCapital One  CC:  Charged Off.  Owed: $600 - No CA is on record - How can I proceed?Credit One Bank CC:  Charged Off - Have a CA with LVNV for this.  Owed: $1,300 - Will attempt a PFD then a GW with OCChase CC:  Charged Off.  I was only an AU on this account and I am trying to have this deleted via dispute, otherwise I will attempt a GWUSDOE Direct Loans:  I have 3 separate accounts for my SL's.  Each of these show as closed but have LPs recorded.  My SL with Great Lakes shows positive history dating back to the beginning of this account so I am trying to have these removed via dispute.  If that fails, then I will GW since my SL's are rehabbed and in good standing. Anyone have experience with this?First Premier CC: Charged Off.  Owed: $300 -  No CA is on record - How can I proceed?Credit Collection Services:  CA for an insurance bill.  Owe: $337 - PFDSecurity Collection Services: CA for a closed checking account.  Owe: $750 - PFDCashCall: This is currently 90 days late, but will be PIF this month.  Will GW to have lates removed once PIF completeDiversified Consultants: CA for ATT bill.  Signed for account for a family member and they failed to pay.  Owe: $275 - PFD As you can see I have a lot of work ahead of me.  Are any of the actions in red above the incorrect path to take?  Obviously I can't tackle them all at once, but am wondering if I should attack the smaller ones first just to work the negative TL's off my report?  I am hoping I may be able to rebuild to the point that I can get a smallish ($5k or so) installment loan at some point to help pay off the largest amounts above.   From reading about other folks journey's I know this process is a slow one that requires patience.  Good thing currently is that I have all of my CR's in hand and think I know what actions to take.  The last SW I received from myFICO had my Equifax score at 529 around 8/2014.  I will do a full score pull sometime before the end of the year so I have an official starting point.   It's strange to say but I'm actually excited to get this moving.  Wish me luck, and thanks in advance to all those who provide support and answer questions around here.  You are all awesome!!!          CapOne Auto: I would offer PFD. Worst case we be to settle in full for less. They like to sue.
CapOne CC: Offer PFD.First Premeir: Offer PFD. They are tough to deal with. I paid them in full and they deleted. However they never would agree to.Looks like you have a good plan for the other baddies. I would suggest that you start rebuilding with a few credit cards. Maybe start with a secured one. Good Luck

  • Macbook Pro won't detect internal drive.

So Last night my macbook pro fell off a desk about 2 feet high. At the time I was running Iweb on it. I thought everything was okay but after about 15 minutes it bagan acting slow. When I would click something it would take about 5 seconds for the computer to register the command. I thought maybe it was more due to being on all day. So I figured I would give it arrest. I shut my computr down and went to bed.
MIdday the next day I turn my computer on and find that it just stays on the boot screen never getting to the log in window. So I decided to do a hardware test with the disk that  came with my comp. But the test never finishes. It just keeps going and going. It would almost reach the very end and stay there. SO then I decided to just reinstall with the install disk that cme with my comp too. But the install disk does not detect a drive.
I tried the "single user mode" 3 times and it tells me the drive "can not be repaired" and that it was "modified" So I then proceeded to check system profiler and under ATA it says "This computer contains no ATA devices". Under serial-ATA I see the HItachi HTSS.... under NVidia MCP89 AHCI.
Does this mean my Drive is just dead. I never backed up any of my files. I was thinking about buying an external hard drive from fingerhut since it's the only kind they have up there and they do financing. http://www.fingerhut.com/product/Electronics/Computers-Tablets/Hard-Drives-Stora ge/Western-Digitals-500GB-External-Hard-Drive/pc/25275/c/25299/sc/25844/NT324.ut s
My warranty just ranout 6 days go >_< is there anything I could do to fix my hard drive?
Also could it be a bad connection to the drive and not the drive itself. If I take it to the apple store can they figure out which one is the problem?

I can understand that financing is important if you really need to get something but can't put up the full price.  That drive goes for about $99 (US).  Fingerhut is selling it to you for $150 (that's a 50% markup).  If you're financing a product in this range, I'd imagine you really need to look out for what you spend...  keep in mind, you're tossing $50 away in doing so.

  • No luck with Victoria's Secret SCT

Im in the process of rebulding my credit. Since learning about the SCT I have been approved for Simplybe and Marisota both $200 CL. I cannot get any of the others to work. My scores are very low mid to high 500s). Prior to learning about the SCT I did a few HP apps within the last two months. I recently was approved for a Walmart store card $400, Fingerhut, a WF secured card and a secured card through my credit union. There are a few cards I wish I could get before gardening. One of the cards I really want is VS. I keep reading how its an easy approval via the SCT but Ive had no luck. I just had a relative with fairly good credit test the SCT and my relative was approved for $1000 limit but was uninterested. So I know its not my computer or browser, its just me.  I do not plan on doing anymore HPs for at least 6 months or more, but I would really like to get VS, possibly Overstock, Avenue or maybe even Gamestop. Any advice?

That was the one I really wanted too, but it eluded me for about a month.... But once I got approved for one of the cards (Express via pop up) the others popped up...  The way I got it was I made an account... then one day (just randomly), I checked one of the emails from VS and through that email... I was able to get it to work.  Goodluck!!

  • Rebuilding help- need tips for Capital One Accounts

Hi- Thank you all for all the wonderful information, you make rebuilding seem so easy and attainable! I never realized all the different versions of scoring, how to do debt validation, get errors removed from my report and where to focus my attention. Just 2 months ago my scores ranged between 556-580, today they range from 600-611 so little improvement over the last couple months. Here is the situation I am in. I have 3 capital one cards, 2 of which are platinums with $500 limits and 1 is the old Orchard Bank card w/$300 limit. These cards are 6-8 years old.  I also have a Fingerhut account w/a $1650 limit, totalling $2950 in credit of which $640 is in use so utilization should be about 22% (making a little more headway on this util each month). I have been 100% ontime w/Fingerhut for the last 2 years. 100% on time w/my auto loan for the last 36 months and almost always on time w/Capital one except for 3 months Sept-Nov in 2014 where I went over my balances and accrued over limit charges that brought my minimum payments up. Technically I was still on time but the $50 a month per card I was giving them wasn't enough for the min payment. I was in a tight situation at the time, they reported those 3 months as late for all 3 cards.   I went years before this  paying 100% on time every month but always carrying a high balance so they never increased my limits earlier even though payment history was good. Now that my utilization is down and its been 8 months since the Capital one dings,  I applied for CLI's on these cards and received letters denying the increases as they said tehse late payments are too recent. I read that a lot of people have success w/CLI's after about 6 months. I've called twice to see if they would good will any of those late payments, I was shot down immediately the first time, the 2nd time I had a  nice woman but she wouldn't budge either, she politely told me she went back and looked at those statements and I was indeed not meeting the minimum payments & the only thing she could do was to mail me hard copies of those statements. I really only have 1 major collection on file thats affecting my score for a little over $1000 w/a CA that I've never heard from via phone or mail yet they are accruing charges each month. It showed up in my file late in 2014 for a card that went delinquent on about 2.5 yrs ago. I haven't decided how to handle this collection just yet, PIF right now is not an option for me so before I figure out how I want to approach this I thought I'd try to make some headway w/Capital one first on my limits andutilization. Does anyone have any recommendations? I've lowered my utilization while still using the cards frequently, just paying down more and paying on time but am getting nowhere on goodwills or CLI's and persistence is not my strong suit. Do you recoomend I wait until I have a full 12 months of on time payments before I try again?  I did prequal for the QS card but am afraid if I submit, I'll only get rejected for the same "recent late payments" that they rejected my CLI requests for even though they are going on 9 months old.... Does anyone have luck w/a new Cap 1 card while not having luck w/CLI's? Should I try for another card, Anybody get accepted for Barclays card w/low 600's score? I only have 4 inquiries on my file right now. 1 is old, should drop off next month, the other 3 were recent  apps for a rental property, no inquiries from credit cards in 2 yrs. Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

Once you get nine months out from the last late payment on the account (not just a reported 30, but service charge late) they will allow a CLI if your scores are high enough. Yeah, Cap One is pretty strict with their reporting. I really only have 1 major collection on file thats affecting my score for a little over $1000 w/a CA that I've never heard from via phone or mail yet they are accruing charges each month. It showed up in my file late in 2014 for a card that went delinquent on about 2.5 yrs ago. Does anyone have any recommendations? Is the OC also reporting that delinquency? If so are they showing an unpaid balance? With Cap One, they like to see heavy usage, and low reported balances. Keep requesting CLI's online until you get some joy - you just need to get far enough away from those lates. Keep trying every month - use the online link for it, don't call them. Don't worry about CLI denials, they won't be held against you in any way. JUst keep plugging away and check the denial reasons. I was getting the same thing all last year until Jan when I sarted getting "score reasons", then they tripled my limits in Feb. Right now you would only qualify for the "average credit" level Cap One cards, and they are an auto-deny for having two or more cap one accounts already. (its stated in the disclosures), so do not app for any more Cap One cards until scores are in the high 600's - then app for the "excellent credit" cards. Since you have a long history with the cards, you might try Barclays (I was approved for Barclays with 618 TU score), but wait until your last 30 day late is over 12 months old. You're actually doing fine, just need to move out a bit from those lates that occurred last year. You might also call and get them converted to QS/QS1 reward cards.

  • Need HELP disputing credit reports I'm stuck & Nervous

Hi Guys,I'm working on my husband's and my credit.  I'm drafting a dispute letter found on the MY Fico site and well, I'm a bit nervous!   I'm hoping to get all the collections removed because of errors and the misrepresentation of reporting as Factoring companies and they are in fact Junk Debt Collectors! Debt was purchased after the charge off happened!
I could use a bit of help with what I've found.  I'm stuck on how to dispute or if it's worth the time to do so.  Thanks for any help. One Collections is with Calvary (has 1 Cap One account) because the DOFD is wrong and the last time they updated on his report was in May 2015.  I don't really want to get them to report again! LOL  The other Collector PRA has 2 Cap One accounts and doesn't include a DOFD!  Also I noticed on the Cap One charge offs they have the last DOFD wrong on all 3! Last Payment made 12/15/2011 on payment history box it's Jan 2012 OK Feb 2012 30days late. 2 other CAP ONE Accounts have the Last Payment on 6/28/2012 and in payment history box it's July 2012 OK Augst 2012 30days late,
Plus for Fingerhut, the Date of last payment is July 12, 2012 and in pay history it has 9/12/12 OK 30 day late October 2012 then Nov and Dec with N/R and Jan 2013 120 days late then FEB N/R then Charge off in March 2013.

    Try this:
    1.Turn the Playbook
    2. On your PC, open the BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3. Use the USB cable, connect the BlackBerry to your PC
    4. A message will appear saying BlackBerry Desktop Software can't connect to your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. When this appears, click "Update". ◦ Please note that this notice will disappear when the tablet starts PlayBook completely. If this occurs, turn off the playbook and repeat the above steps
    5. Enter your email address or uncheck the "Yes, send me an email when updates are available."

Plus for Fingerhut, the Date of last payment is July 12, 2012 and in pay history it has 9/12/12 OK 30 day late October 2012 then Nov and Dec with N/R and Jan 2013 120 days late then FEB N/R then Charge off in March 2013.

  • Venture, QS, Freedom and It approvals thin file and new to credit.

Hello all. So as of January I had 0 credit cards. I've never needed them. I paid cash for everything. Even Cars and a House that I currently rent out.   I did have a student loans that is now completely paid off. So my oldest account which was the loan is 11 years old and never late. I had 0 baddies because I had 0 cards. In January I was approved for a capital one Journey card with the lowest amount they give out 300 and denied by Barclays. In February I opened a Fingerhut to give my self another credit line while I was building.   I used my Journey between 400 and 800 per month and paid in full a few times a month.       I want to buy a house in the next 18 -24 months and was advised by a mortgage agent at my bank get some real credit cards asap. I waited until I had the Journey 6 months but had only reported 5 times. And pulled the trigger.  Approved. Chase Freedom  2200 Discover IT  3000 Capital One QS 3000 Capital One Venture Rewards 10000 Credit Care 4200 Also excepting my Journey card to get out of credit steps in 2 weeks. Chat rep. said most likely I can expect a 2000-3000 increase because of my heavy use. I was preapproved for the Amex green and Gold Reward's but I'm not going to apply.   Also got a letter from Sportsman guide asking me to please take the pop up offer. I may next time I shop when it's a soft pull but I'm in no hurry. Now in the Garden until this October when I buy a new used car. Then back in the Garden until I buy a house.   Let this be a lesson to people with thin files don't give up. Prove you self and pay in full.

It looks like Discover pulled Eu which was my lowest. Thinking since the lady on the phone thinks I live in a rich neighborhood that helped me out. Chase Pulled TU and so far Only 1 alert from Cap 1 on TU. No clue who credit care pulled. Though it was odd. credit Care didn't even ask for my home address only my mailing address.    I will update as my reports update. For future future reference.   As far as income..... I work 2 jobs so it go way up or way down depending on how many contracts I accept. Some years I can make 100k other I only make 40k.  My none contracting job pays 40 so I just put that. Figured it would be easier if I needed to prove income that way. I might have been able to get bigger limits if I put my exact income from last year but I just wanted to get approved with out having to recon or anything.

  • Looking hopeless, 400s scores starting hopeless journey to major credit repair

Hi everyone, I'm new  to this forum and myfico. I'm 25 years old and today I decided to get serious about fixing my credit. I got tired of believing that I'll never have a 700 score in my life and have been trying to make the steps necessary to fix some major damage. I was young and stupid and let every account in my early 20s get charged off. I've never made any consistent payments and due to all that stupidity and neglect, no one will take a chance on me now. In fact, I have now been declined for multiple SECURED credit cards, including Bank of America, TOTAL Visa, Wells Fargo, and CapitalOne which I thought was impossible. In fact, I've never been approved for anything nor have I even gotten close to being prequalified for anything. I checked my scores and I'm starting at 476 TransUnion and 490 Equifax according to credit karma and 500 Equifax, 492 TransUnion, and 497 Experian according to myFico. I've even gotten declined for a car loan to try to rebuild that route despite the fact my income is great. Money isn't a huge issue any more these days seeing as I don't really owe anyone money and have been paying everything in cash. I've got 7 charge offs, 2 of which from 2008 which I'm in the process of trying to get removed from my reports. I had a car loan that I defaulted on and got repossessed last year that I was able to fully pay off the day of the repo but is recent and still a major sting on my reports. The only revolving account I have is a $500 secured credit card from a local credit union. I also bought a blender from FingerHut today and will commence payments on that from this month on. I also tried this website called SelfLender that puts money into a savings account and said that it would report and help rebuild credit but haven't seen it reported on anything yet. I applied for Crown Jeweler's and am awaiting a decision. And I have a student loan that just entered repayment this month. What else can I do? Should I open more secured credit cards? More credit rebuilder loans through credit unions? With what I have right now, do I just sit back and wait? Do I dispute everything negative on my reports even if they're accurate? Some of you guys' stories have been inspirational. But right now I feel like there's really no hope since my scores are about as bad as they can get. Getting declined for secured cards and the idea that no one will take a chance on me even if I pay them to is really making all of this seem impossible. Any input would really help!

Any input would really help!Look at it this way - there's only one direction from here, and thats UP.Realistically, rebuilding is a long term process that takes a minimum of 24 months. Take it in 6 months increments. You already have a start with the secured credit card from the credit union.  Build on that. In a few months the FH account will start to grow. Keep watching your scores, they will improve as you move out from the last derog (the repo?). Once you get into the 500's consider getting a second secured card, either Cap One, or Open Sky.  Now, the 7 Charge offs - What are they, and when did each one occur? How are they being reported? Balances?BTW, you are pretty much right where I was last August when I started this journey. After one year of *mostly* just managing and using my credit cards effectively, I've come up about a hundred points.

  • HP 15g000 (15gt) laptop administrator/power on password needed. Error code after 3 tries= 88816924

Hi:  My friend bought a laptop and after a couple of months it immediately asks for the Administrator password or Power On password.  They bought it from "fingerhut" who says they will do nothing.  They have not even completed paying for it yet.I have removed all batteries, even the one supplying the CMOS.  It then says it will reset the CMOS to default, but it then still is asking for the password. Is there a password or utility to fix this? thanks.

Hi: Please read this post which should resolve your dilemma. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/System-Hal... Then... You can: 1. Use the unlock code you generated to enter the BIOS
    2. Disable all passwords that are enabled in the BIOS's security menu.
    3. If asked for current password - type the unlock code
    4. For new password, just press ENTER key
    5. Repeat the same for verify password column.

I never would imagined 100pt increase in 2 scores in really about a month worth of work. Im definitely NOT close to being done.My Goal is to one day qualify for a mortgage. I dont have a timeline for that to happen though.

No more cards. Started rebuild with one secured card. At least you are not with credit one. It took a year to climb up to 600 (started May 2013). You might want to consider a secured installment loan, google Alliant credit unions. I have one going for 4 years with my own CU, Alliant is better.
The double whammy of building credit while cleaning reports pays dividends. No more store cards, very important. You only need two or three lines, and if you aren't paying auto, student or mortgage loan, then an installment loan is good idea.
PS, I see you have student loans, presume they are reporting. I was successful in PFD collections, and backdating charity care (if single, and your income under 23k, you can qualify). If you study enough, don't write letters. Just start calling the OC's, and tell them your plight. I was successful in removing medical collections falling off in 2018 and 2019. As of Jan 1, 2015, my reports were all clean.
Note, ex clean first, so got Amex with score jump. Then got chase when eq clean in January. It's best to wait for prime time until the reports are clean.

  • Should I close this account?

So I have been thinking about closing my secured card with SDFCU. When I got it, I never thought Id get unsecured cards so quick and never use it anyways. However, I was worried about score dropping. I have no idea what my AAOA is. My credit history started 10 years ago, but all those cards I had were charged off, and due to fall off in 3-4 years. I have student loans starting in 2008 through 2014, and then consolidated in 2014 so originals were "payed". Finally had a car loan that was opened in 2009 and paid off in 2014. Here is all of my current accounts in the order I got them: FingerHut- Opened First of February 2015SDFCU- Late February 2015Capital One QS- Late February 2015Capital One Plat- Late February 2015Capital One Venture- April 23, 2015Amazon- June 2015Walmart- June 2015Home Depot- June 2015 If I were to close the SDFCU, would I get a big drop in scores? I know it will stay on there as a good account. It is just a $250 secured card, that I thought I would need for a while, but got pre-approved for cards before I thought I would. Never closed an account so I dont know what negative effects there is.

Your AAoA will not drop if you close an account. What will cause a score to drop after closing an account is utilization and how that will affect your DTI ratio. Most of your accounts were opened this year and around the same time so your AAoA tooka dive already. The credit limits on your other accounts and balances will determine if you lose points after closing the account. As you already mentioned, the closed account will still show as a positive trade line for 10 years from the date of closing. If it were me, I would keep that account open for at least a year before closing to show some history.UMrk wrote:
