Firefox 21 applying weird kerning to Typekit font DIN

Recently noticed with FF 21 that there is some weird letter-spacing issues happening with one of my Typekit fonts on a production website. Nothing has changed with the codebase/implementation of the web font on my site, however FF 21 seems to be doing some weird things to the font.
The font affected is DIN Condensed Web from Typekit.
It is rendering correctly in all other browsers I've tested on my Mac (Opera, Chrome, Safari, etc).

Screenshot in Chrome: http://i.imgur.com/5BMc31G.png
Any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks again for the quick reply.
I tried the solutions from that thread, but it did not solve my issue.
Here is what I tried:
# "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
# Restart Firefox
# "Disable hardware acceleration when available"
# Restart Firefox
Still no luck :(

    My Firefox looks very weird since some days. I tried reinstalling firefox, deleted my user files, but the font didnt change. Just starting in safe mode corrects this error.

    You can try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window.
    You can also try to disable the hardware acceleration:<br />

  • How do I use Typekit fonts within Edge Animate

    I have applied a 'Pragmatica' Typekit font to a website.  I'm using Edge animate to construct some pages and within these pages want to add Type; however, Edge Fonts does not include the Typekit font 'Pragmatica' and the instruction for the page to use Typekit seems not to filter through into the Edge animate section .... is there a way round this?

    Hi, Trimmertop-
    When you open up the Web Fonts viewer, you will see Edge Web Fonts by default.  However, there is a tab next to it that says "Custom."  You can stick in your kit code in that location.

  • Why are TypeKit fonts not displaying correctly in Pages (iWork)?

    I have just subscribed to TypeKit and am experiencing highly peculiar behavior from the two fonts I’m using in Pages (iWork): Basically, fonts in my document don’t respond appropriately to requested changes in style. For example, if I increase the point size by one point using the the formatting commands built into Pages, the font drops a point size. I’ve had the same experience using the kerning command, where the kerning decreases when I have set it to increase. (So far, the only fonts I’ve been using have been Futura PT and Proxima Nova.)
    Look at the example in the screenshot: “FEATURED EXPERT” on the top line shows in Pages as being 24pt Futura PT Book. However, “SOLO,” a few lines down, which is definitely displaying as smaller, shows as 25pt Futura PT
    In a potentially related issue, when I reopened this same document today, text boxes were suddenly too small for the text (again in Futura PT and Proxima Nova). It was as though Pages was suddenly reading those two fonts differently.
    I have had no issues with other (non-TypeKit) fonts in the same document.
    Anyone else experiencing anything similar? Any suggested fixes? I'm reluctant to unsync/resync the two affected fonts (the only ones I have sync'd to date) because I don't want to wreck the document!

    Thanks, Christopher. After I posted my original question, I did come to realize that it was Helvetica not Future PT showing. Here’s what happened, and here’s why I still need some guidance…
    The document dropped Future PT because when my wifi signal dropped, the Creative Cloud app displayed this error symbol (see graphic) in my menu bar.
    At that point, my computer could no longer access my TypeKit fonts and the document reverted to the system's Helvetica default.
    This was not an isolated incident.
    If I turn wifi off manually, there is no issue and CC continues to operate in the background as it should, with TypeKit fonts still available.
    However, if the wifi drops out on its own, I get the above error symbol and I then lose access to my TypeKit fonts. Very rarely, the CC app will self-correct when the signal is restored. More often than not, I must quit the CC app and relaunch it in order to get things back to normal.
    This doesn’t strike me as normal behavior Have you ever encountered anything like it? Do you know of  a fix that will allow the CC app to self-correct when the wifi signal is restored?
    Any assistance will be appreciated!
    Thanks!
    P.S. TypeKit troubleshooting doesn’t address this particular issue.

  • Can't get TypeKit fonts to work in Adobe Muse!

    HI there!
    Just wondering if anybody new how to get purchased fonts from TypeKit to work as HTML in Adobe Muse?
    I have tried following the link below but when I go to publish my site the text is still all images.
    Problem is I know nothing about code but this seemed pretty straight forward to follow but don't seem
    to be getting any luck with it.
    I was trying to use the font 'Museo Sans Rounded' and I was told to try maybe other fonts which I did and
    also they did not work, but If I just take a font from within the Adobe Muse/TypeKit 'Web Fonts' then this works.
    Please could someone explain to me if I'm doing something wrong or if there is a better way of acheiving this?
    Many thanks

    Hi Liz,
    Many thanks for getting back to me.
    Below are the screen shots of me:
    1. Going into Typekit
    2. Selecting chosen ‘Kit’ and checking that the font ‘Museo Sans Rounded’ is WEB SAFE.
    3. Launching ‘Kit Editor’ and setting the ’Selectors’ > ‘.body’ & ‘.header’ > ‘PUBLISH’
    4. Then I go into Muse and select the ’header' font e.g. I’m a freelance graphic designer &
    illustrator based in Bristol.’ then go to ‘Paragraph styles and highlight ‘header’. I then PUBLISH
    my site only for it to still be an image.
    Am I doing this correctly?
    How do I get the ‘Museo Sans Rounded’ web safe font from Typekit into the window e.g. your screen grab?
    I will have a go at putting Arial font into title and then see what happens from there!
    Many thanks

    Instead of choosing a system from the font menu, please try selecting one of the "web safe" fonts that are built into Muse, such as Arial. When you re-publish your site, you should see regular text again instead of the images.
    2) using the font from Typekit
    Once you have text showing up instead of images, we can work on applying the Typekit fonts.
    The kit that you are currently using in your site (ID bnb1odj) doesn't include the font Museo Sans Rounded.  Would you please check in your Kit Editor that you are using the right embed code for your Museo Sans Rounded kit?
    You can find the embed code by logging into https://typekit.com, launching your Kit Editor, and clicking the "embed code" link at the top right.   Copy this code and add it to Muse under the Page > Page properties menu item.
    Please give that a try, and let me know how it goes!  Once you have republished the site, I can take another look and give you some information on how to set the Typekit fonts in your CSS.
    Thank you,

  • Muse Typekit fonts

    Hello. I have a site that was created in Muse and loaded to Business Catalyst. The site uses a non web-safe font from Typekit and it was applied in Muse. You can see it here http://www.steelhaus.co.nz/
    The font is not behaving so well in some browsers and I want to replace the Muse font stuff with my own @fontafce font system.
    My question is, where are the Muse Typekit font files being held in BC? I can't find them anywhere. How is this working?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Grant

    Hey Grant,
    It's dependant on how the site is setup.  I haven't exported to BC from Muse but we need to figure out if each page on the site has the full webpage code or if the site is using Page Templates.  Go into your BC Admin and goto Site Manager > Page Templates and check to see if you have a default page template in there.  Click it to check out the page template and see if it resembles your website design.  If so, your site is likely using page templates.  If not, then each page on your site is not controlled by page templates so any changes made to the Muse Webfonts would have to be made on every single page of your site.
    Here are the two sections of code that are either in your page templates and/or your actual web pages on BC.  Instead of removing them you could just comment them out.  The Muse webfonts use javascript to add the @font-face CSS declarations to your website.  If you edit the HTML source in your BC panel on a page or page template try to find these two blocks of code.  The first is the javascript calling for the font:
    <script type="text/javascript">
        document.documentElement.className += ' js';
        var __adobewebfontsappname__ = "muse";
    </script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
        document.write('\x3Cscript src="' + (document.location.protocol == 'https:' ? 'https:' : 'http:')
        + '//webfonts.creativecloud.com/exo:n7,n4:all;asap:n4,n7:all.js" type="text/javascript">\x3C/script>');
    </script>
    And the next block of code is a stylesheet for IE:
    <!--[if lt IE 9]>
      <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/css/iefonts_gallery.css?4005734883"/>
    <![endif]-->
    I would do this on just one page first if the code is on every page and you aren't using templates.
    Then, after you remove this code, add your own @font-face declarations to one of your stylesheets.
    The last step is to edit all your CSS files, namely: site_global.css, gallery.css and you need to remove the reference to the "exo" font in both those CSS files.  You can find and replace "font-family: exo, sans-serif;" and replace it with the font name from your @font-face rules.
    At that point, you're all set but you'll need to remove the code above from every page before every page is set.  If you use templates, just remove the code above from your page templates if it's there.  The CSS, once you update them will affect all your pages once you upload or publish it on BC.

  • Why do many Typekit fonts look bad on publish of Muse website?

    I have published more than a dozen websites with Adobe Muse and Typekit fonts. I have really been drawn to Typekit and the beautifull fonts it brings into Muse. When I am in design mode on a Muse site the fonts look great. My problem is when I preview the site withing Adobe Muse or publish it online the fonts rasterize terribly. I understand that certain fonts display better smaller or bigger but even when I apply this knowledge in my design it still often shows a lack of clarity in fonts. Is there a way to help these fonts appear better? Perhaps I am missing something here but what I don't know.

    Every OS, OS version and browser renders live text differently. This is true of fonts served from Typekit as well as fonts installed in the local system. I expect the variation you're seeing is the differences between the AIR rendering in the Design view, the Webkit rendering in Muse Preview and the browser+OS+OS version rendering for whatever environment you're using.
    There's a 7 part blog post on typekit.com that explains all the interactions and variations across OSes, OS versions and browsers.

  • Typekit fonts availability

    Hi, I just downloaded Adobe Muse final version and updated the website I've been working on in which I've been integrating Typekit fonts manually… Exciting move forward and ability to use my fonts easily!
    BUT THEN I couldn't find my fonts in the menu! Are all Typekit fonts supposed to be available in Muse?
    I have a Portfolio plan and the fonts I need to use are Proxima Nova Alt and Brandon Grotesque.
    Thanks for helping me with that, can't wait to see everything fit into place!
    EDIT: Here's Typekit answer to this. (HINT: bad news)
    Currently Muse only has the free and open-source Typekit fonts available in it. In the future there will be kit integration, so that you have access to all the fonts in your Typekit plan.
    Maybe someone from Adobe could tell me how long we have to wait for that…

    Dani - thank you again for your quick and clear responses to my not always clear questions - You have been correct in all your assumptions.
    Also I'd like to say you strike the perfect balance between representing Adobe and seeing it from the customers view - not just in your responses here but in your Jam sessions and demos.
    New Question 1: If I download and pay for Proxima from a paid font library (or any matching desktop version to its typekit brother), can I use this desktop version in Muse for the 'design' phase. Then implement the museinsider.com work-around at publish stage to give me a WYSIWYG experience?
    Am i right in assuming they'd need to be opentype or true type? Assume postscript won't work in Muse?
    New Question 2): Yeah excited by the Max announcement of accompanying desktop versions. It quite literally took the request and absolute glaring need out my mouth/keyboard. I realise it is not due for release til June and details may be vague but do you have any knowledge whether this would likely be just the free typekit fonts or include some edge/paid fonts? If Adobe include edge fonts/aka paid - or atleast discount - to CC members, this would be a truly truly significant benefit to being a CC subscriber, and surely convert traditional adobe subscribers to CC members!?
    Just response to previous:
    (don't feel obliged to repsond specifically to this! ;-)
    Have to say I was confused with the free and paid reference.
    Thanks for the Edge being aka paid tip too. As a Creative Cloud member paid seemed not to apply to me because I get the portfolio typekit pack as part of my CC membership at no extra cost. As Typekit is now owned by Adobe - I, I think quite understably, assumed they would simply be available to me in the same way the free fonts are. No need to explain here - I am not having a go at you at all I 'feel your pain' in replying to the same problem - and understand their are technical and legal reasons. With over 15 years in the industry I really do know (and feel the pain of) font legalities. However in light this original post was a year ago it does feel a bit irksome.
    I realise in the aquisition or merging of a company there is a pain barrier - but as a customer I don't want to feel that pain!
    Adobe please throw your weight money and effort at this. If you see the Adobe logo on a product you expect an intergrated experience. As it currently stands it is a serious draw back to its core market:  professional designers who have previously mocked up in Indesign,  Illustrator Photoshop and passed to a developer.
    Oh no. I've become one of those people that moan on forums! Sorry. It's becuase I really care about this and am speaking to someone who can hopefully make a difference or atleast voice this serious need.
    I am super excited by Adobe's developments, have been to a few seminars and am a champion of Adobe products I really see Muse as a very serious solution to some web projects for non coding designers, which is why I have taken the time - unusually for me - to blither on here!
    Thank you for the Adobe Edge Fonts Preview page  tip also.

  • Packaging typekit fonts for print

    When you're collecting for output/packaging a print project from InDesign and you're using Adobe Typekit, the Typekit fonts will not be packaged. Will there be any sort of warning or message so that both the artist and the print vendor are aware those fonts need to be replaced? It would also be helpful if the message mentioned Typekit so that the vendor knew where to obtain the fonts. I speak from experience, being both a designer and working for a commercial printer. Knowing whether to apply our Typekit fonts or to go back to the client for the fonts is very important.

  • Why can I still not access any of the decent Typekit fonts?

    I've been waiting and waiting hoping that Adobe will finally get around to including all of the typekit fonts within Muse. For example I've been after the Prenton font, but notice that it's still not available from within Muse, and the same applies for many of the really good fonts.
    Why are they not available?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I am sorry we don't have the same seamless integration with the full Typekit library as we do with Edge Web Fonts. There are two main reasons for that:
    1. Muse is a desktop application, and any use of a font in Muse Design mode is considered "desktop use". Most fonts in the Typekit library are licensed for "web use" only.
    2. Edge Web Fonts  are mostly open-source and can be used by anyone, on any domain, for unlimited page views. On the other hand, web fonts in the Typekit library need to be configured for specific domains and may be subject to page view limits. This configuration — in the form of Typekit "kits" — is done manually. We don't have the necessary means to create kits automatically (something that's needed for a fully seamless workflow).
    Looking through your other posts on various forums, I can see that you already have experience creating kits. Have you tried this workflow for Muse: http://museinsider.com/how-to-add-typekit-fonts-to-your-muse-site.html? If you haven't, please give it a try. If/when you have tried it, please let me know what you find most and least inconvenient about that worflow:
    Creating a kit at typekit.com
    Including embed code in Muse
    Inability to work with the actual font during Design
    Inability to see the actual font during Preview
    Other (please specify)
    Could you also let me know (in private, if you prefer) if you already own Prenton as a desktop/print font?
    Thanks,
    Abhishek

  • Typekit fonts not working on Form buttons

    Hello,
    I just created a form within Muse, my Typekit seems to be working for everything except the Form Submit button.
    I looked in previous discussions and it was mentioned if any of the states do not have the Typekit applied, the button will be rasterized, I double checked this and this is not the case, the Typekit is applied to every state.
    Any ideas?
    Please take a look:
    http://mikrosm.businesscatalyst.com/contact.html

    For regular text frames, Muse will not rasterize websafe fonts or webfonts(aka typekit fonts). The form submit button is a special case.
    Browser support for styling the form submit button is inconsistent, so to make the styled button work in all the major browsers, Muse always rasterizes the submit button. Otherwise you'd have some visitors to your website that couldn't click on the button, or had a submit button that didn't look as you intended.

  • Pls help - How can I add a typekit font to muse?

    As Muse doesn't come with all typekit fonts already included in the dropdown list of webfonts, I'd like to know how I can add a typekit font to the dropdown menu so I can use it for my website. I have Adobe creative cloud membership.
    I've searched the whole of the web and can't find anything about this at all - only about adding one of the existing muse typekit fonts which I already know how to do.
    Why doesn't Adobe include all typekit fonts with Muse when you're already a full creative cloud subscriber?

  • How do you add/use typekit fonts that are not edge web fonts?

    I am just trying out the new Muse CC 2014.1 (August) release and was keen to try the new font facilities.  As far as I can see that while I can now add other fonts for which I have downloaded web font files via the Self Hosted Web Fonts function, Typekit fonts that are not "Adobe Edge Web Fonts" are effectively unavailable?  Have I missed something.
    As an example I want to use the Proxima Nova web font family.  I have selected it on the type kit site, set them up to Sync via my Creative Cloud account.  So for example if I select a font in Photoshop CC or Illustrator, the Proxima Nova fonts appear. Even ok in Word for Mac.  They do not appear in Muse.
    To add them as self hosted web fonts, I would need to physically download the relevant fonts files and install them on my desktop using the OS-X font tool.  However as they are being sync'd via Creative Cloud this shouldn't be necessary should it?  Also I don't see an option for doing so on the typekit site.
    Any help or guidance would be very welcome.
    PS:  I seem to have a separate issue with the Creative Cloud app, which is not listing fonts under the Assets tab.  But I don't think that is related as they are working fine for Photoshop, etc.

    Hi David,
    I'm sorry that you ran into trouble with this. To add fonts from Typekit to your Muse website, you will want to use the web fonts path instead of desktop fonts.  (You can use a desktop font synced from Typekit in your Muse design, but it will exported as an image the same as any other system font.)
    There are a couple options for using Typekit web fonts in Muse:
    o) The Muse Insider wrote a post on how to insert the Typekit embed code from the Muse interface:
    http://museinsider.com/how-to-add-typekit-fonts-to-your-muse-site.html
    o) Or you can add the embed code to the Page Properties dialog within Muse, which will include it in the <head> of the page when you export your website. The steps are the same as this tutorial, but you will add the Typekit embed code to Muse instead of into your page directly:
    TYPEKIT | Adding fonts to your site
    Note that in either case the Typekit fonts will not be displayed in the Muse preview window. You'll need to publish your site to a server in order for the Typekit fonts to be loaded into the page.
    If those look like more coding that you are comfortable with, you might try one of the fonts which you can select from the font menu instead. Here are some that are similar to :
    https://edgewebfonts.adobe.com/fonts#/?xHeight=high&contrast=low&class=sans-serif&width=re gular
    We are also working on a more complete integration of Typekit with Muse in the future, but I can't say yet when that will be available.
    >> PS:  I seem to have a separate issue with the Creative Cloud app, which is not listing fonts under the Assets tab.  But I don't think that is related as they are working fine for Photoshop, etc.
    Do you see a "loading" icon in the tab (e.g. a blue spinner wheel)?  It sounds similar to this thread; you might try these suggestions:
    Re: Adobe Creative Cloud / Desktop App / Home Screen: Constant Spinning Wheel
    I hope that this helps; let me know if you have any other questions.  Best,

  • How do I use the full range of Typekit fonts?

    I want to use a couple of Typekit fonts (Calluna and Minion) that are not part of the Web Font library.
    Is this now a feature in Muse CC or do I have to use a widget, such as this ...
    Using Full Typekit Fonts in Adobe Muse CC - Widget by MuseThemes.com on Vimeo
    Also, if I wanted to use another font ... such as Apercu ... not in the Typekit library, how do I do this?
    Thanks very much
    Simon

    Hello Simon,
    As of now Adobe only has visual support for the web font library. However you CAN use your type kit fonts. You can use a widget like the video posted describes, however you can also just use custom CSS in the page properties meta data.
    It would look something like this:
    <style>
    p {
    font-family: 'proxima-nova';
    font-weight: 300;
    font-style: italic;
    h1{
    font-family: 'proxima-nova';
    font-weight: 600;
    font-style: italic;
    </style>
    Attached are pictures explaining how to integrate type kit with the muse header custom html:
    Navigate to typekit and create a new kit, make sure the domain YOUR site will be published on it selected. The star denotes any page.yourdomain.com.
    After you click continue Adobe will give you some custom JQuery, a type of Javascript. Copy it and place it in your page properties > meta data <head> tag as shown below.
    Add your desired fonts to the kit you created. After you select the style you want, click "using font in CSS" in the top left menu. A pop-upp box will appear with some code. Copy the bottom one to your clipboard.
    Paste into the meta data head tag WITH <style> before and </style> afterwards. h1 denotes heading one, p denotes paragraph etc. The font-weight is the style, when you browse typekit it will tell you the wights; ie proxima nova semibold is 600, light is 100 etc. Font-style is the style: italics, bold etc. When adding this attributes, make sure they end with a semicolon (;).
    Now the fun part: click on your text and go to the text menu. The very last field has a number or letter combo, h1, h2, p etc. These are the text styles that you inputed! If you want the text to correlate to you h1 code, then tag it h1. If you want iit to correlate to you p code, tag it p etc. ALL of your h1 will look the same and all of your p will look the same.
    They will NOT be visible in the editor or preview, but only when published to your domain.
    If that is too much work, just use the widget =).
    Let me know if you have any Q's!
    Cam
    PS: sorry it was so choppy, I couldn't find a good video so I had to snap some quick screenshots.
