Firefox - asking to Save/Download SWF rather than playing it inside IFRAME

Hi all, I have encountered a very strange thing with an SWF we have recently authored.
My client insists on embedding a FlashPlayer 9 SWF inside an IFRAME given the limitations of their content management system.
When they use this method to embed an SWF authored by us 6 months ago, everything behaves as expected - the Flash loads and plays within the IFRAME on their website.
When they use the very same method to embed an SWF from the same FLA authored by us this month, Firefox brings up the "Save File / Download" dialog box instead - the SWF does not play but instead is seen as a downloadable file.
I have verified this behaviour on a number of different computers that all have had no issues playing Flash content across all versions (Flashplayer 8 - 10).
What should we do to fix this problem?
Thanks,
Tom

Don't worry about what all the variables mean. It's not really apposite to the issue.

    Hi,
Im facing an issue with Mac Firefox, when Im trying to open pdf file in FF for Mac, its asking for download/save rather than opening up inside browser window like other browsers do.
Can you please help me out to solve this, its happening only with Mac Firefox.
    Thanks.

    Please provide the following information:
Which version of Acrobat you are using?
Which verion of FireFox you are using?

  • Anytime I click on a .pdf I am asked to save the document rather than allowing me to just view it.

Anytime I click on a link to a .pdf I am asked to save the document. I would like to simply view most. I have been unable to determine how to change this. I am not sure whether it is a setting in Firefox, Acrobat, or my system. In the dialogue box that asks whether I would like to open or save the file, I had checked the box indicating that the files should always be opened, but this did not happen. It kept asking whether to "open file" or "save file." Then I had a file I wanted to save, so I clicked that radio button and saved that file. Now, it will no longer allow me to open files.
    Thanks for your help...

Please update to the most recent version of Firefox:
*[[Update Firefox to the latest version]]
[[How to fix preferences that won't save]] or reset the saved setting in the Applications panel-> [[Applications panel - Set how Firefox handles different types of files]]
    Or set it as default:
In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and click Options (Preferences for Linux and Mac).
#In the Options (Preferences for Linux and Mac) window, select the ''Applications'' panel.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right hand side you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

How can I change my safari preferences to save a file rather than it downloading

I can't be sure, but what probably happens is that the page doesn't give you a link to a downloadable file, but a button which activates a script. There's nothing you can do about that, because you don't control the script.
it just downloads the transcripts not the document.
It sounds like the downloaded file does not open or execute as it's supposed to (which, for instance, would happen if what you downloaded was a Java application, but you didn't have Java installed).
If you are allowed to, give us the URL and we'll have a look. Also, you should add what version of Mac OS X and of Safari you are using, and you should correct your profile (which says "Mac Pro" -- this forum is for the MacBook Pro, which is a different computer from the Mac Pro).

  • ITunes is writing new songs to the download folder rather than the Music folder

I recently added a NAS (Synology) to my home network. The transfer of libraries was simple and fast.
The problem now though is that when i buy a new song in iTunes it writes it to the download folder rather than music folder with .tmp tag.
Any ideas how to fix t?

Now that you know, try deleting through iTunes.  If that does not remove the image file, then place the app you mistakenly deleted back in the file folder from your latest backup and try deleting through iTunes again.

  • If I purchase lightroom but want to install on both a pc and a mac is that possible from just a download version rather than ordering a disc?

Yes, a single serial number can be used to install on two computers and one can be a PC and one a Mac.   The download will be a different installer for each platform but the serial number should activate both.

  • The album downloaded except one song. It says purchased rather than play and there is no option to try and download the one song that had an error.  I deleted the song name from our library, but it still won't let me download. Any advice?

  • After playing the song I selected in iTunes 11 it jumps to the another album rather than playing the next song on the original album I selected.  ***?  How do I fix this?!?!?

After playing the song I selected in iTunes 11 it jumps to the another album rather than playing the next song on the original album I selected.  ***?  How do I fix this?!?!?

I found that clearing the "Up Next" list fixes the problem.  But I have to clear that list everytime I just want to hear just that one album.  Each time I select on song on the album, the "Up Next" list builds it's own list rather than just play through the album.  I think this has something to do with the issue.  How can I fix this?!?!

  • How can I save an email as a download file rather than a file in my email

I wish to save entire emails in a windows folder rather than in an email folder. I have tried hitting "save as" but although I get a message telling me the download is complete I cannot open the documents. Also, I am getting weird icons after I try to download thses emails on my desktop. I am not that familiar with Mozilla but was running IE for the longest time. Any help would be appreciated.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

'''File|Save As''' gives you several options. By default it will save as a .eml file, which will need an email client to view. You can usually save by drag-and-drop, but that creates an .eml file too.
You can save as HTML by putting in an html file extension when doing File|Save As.
    This add-on:
    https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/mboximport-en.html
gives you multiple options for saving one or more messages in various formats.

  • Acrobat Reader 9.4 downloads files rather than opening in Firefox 3.6.12

Clicking on a pdf file link in Firefox causes the file to download rather than opening.
I've tried checking and unchecking the "open in browser" box in Reader without success.
In looking at the Applications list in FIrefox Tools>Options>Applications, there is no listing for Adobe Acrobat Document, and I can' t find a way to add that Application. There are two entries for Adobe Acrobat Forms Document and one for Adobe Acrobat XML Data Package. Changing the Action for them doesn't resolve the problem.
Looking at the Control Panel, there is only one instance of Acrobat Reader, that being 9.4.0. I've also tried using the Repair option in Reader.
    I'm running XP3 Pro Service Pack 3.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks
    Ken

You can get that error if there is still an old Adobe Reader plugin in the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder.
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\nppdf32.dll

  • Set safari to download pdfs rather than try to use Adobe Reader plugin?

Some websites try to open a pdf file in Safari using the Adobe Reader plugin.  I don't have this plugin (and don't want to), and I would like Safari to download the pdf rather than trying to use the Adobe Reader plugin.  This option exists in Firefox - is there any way to set Safari to do the same thing?

On my machine, OPTION-clicking a link, downloads it or the PDF that it points to. Alternatively, load the PDF and then OPTION-click on the URL and hit the enter key. Sorry, but that's all I have to offer.

  • Is there a way to change the default image save to .jpg rather than.bmp?

Currently the default save is a .bmp file.  I do not see a way to change this in the <edit> <preferences> area.  Also is there a way to export/save a designated area on a pdf as a .jpg image file rather than the options given: Word, Exel, Powerpoint, .rtf, html, etc.  I currently have to take a snapshot (often clicking this twice) and then opening it in photoshop, then changing it to black and white (if needed) in order to save it as a .jpg

  • Firefox can't save downloads on OS X

I have an installation with FF 32.0.3 on Apple OS X 10.9.5 which is unable to save any downloads.
I can start a download, FF creates the .part-file, furthermore the real filename will be created too. The download manager immediately shows "Failed" for the download and the file with the real filename is empty. Sometimes the part-File contains the data, but not always.
I've tried all from http://mzl.la/LJ0h2w, nothing worked.
I created a new FF-profile, does not work.
When I switch to another user on this Mac it will work. So it is in fact a setting within this user. But where to look further?
Thanks in advance an best regards, Ric.

Thanks for your input. Download dir is Desktop and permissions are as follows:
    computername:~ username$ ls -l|grep Desktop
    drwx------+ 19 username admin 646 14 Okt 14:31 Desktop
Doesn't matter what directory we choose, it is always the same behavior.
FF creates the .part file which contains the download itself. Then FF creates the final file but the size is always zero. It looks like the last step - move the content into the final file - will fail:
    computername:Desktop username$ ls -l
    -rw-r--r--@ 1 username admin 0 14 Okt 14:24 downloadfile.pdf
    -rw-r--r--@ 1 username admin 90016 14 Okt 14:23 tbsWPYgF.pdf.part
So FF can create and name files. If I rename the part file by hand it will run fine.
    FF runs with user privilegs:
    computername:Desktop username$ ps -eo ruser,f,comm|grep Firefox
    username 4084 /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox
I set browser.download.debug tot true. Firebug shows:
"NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE: Async version must be used - nsHelperAppDlg.js (Line 207)"
I don't know if this is important or not, it comes up on downloads.
I worked through all the hints about download errors, nothing helped so far.
    Any more ideas?

  • RTSP stream downloads video rather than displaying...

I've got an internet security cam that I can view on my PC as an RTSP stream with Quicktime, Windows Media Player, Real Player, etc.
My E71x has Real Player and when I enter the same address that streams on my PC, the MediaNet app starts to download the stream, rather than displaying the video.  It will go as long as I leave it, downloading MB of data.
Does anybody know how to get this RTSP stream to display as video rather than download?  I've tried Opera and Bolt but neither pull up Real Player like MediaNet.  I know the RTSP on the phone must be working because the YouTube app works like a champ.

You can specify a folder on a computer (or iPhoto events etc on a Mac) though you may not get perfect control over display order.
Use iTunes>File>Home Sharing>Choose photos to share etc
iTunes would need to be running on teh LAN to support this.
