Firefox doesn't launch correct link

Small bug:
If Firefox is not running, and I click on a link in my email program, Firefox launches and displays my home page instead of the URL in the link. If Firefox is running, it goes to the correct URL.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • IPhoto doesn't launch Correctly

Every time I launch my iPhoto, the main window doesn't open. I've attempted to choose the library again, with no good results. It appears there's a significant with iPhoto since it will not open your iPhoto library when the app opens. Don't work around I have found that works is to go to your picture folder locate your iPhoto library creating alias and then drag that alias to the dock. If you launch iPhoto from the alias it appears to work correctly. I've only noticed this since upgrading to iPhoto 9.4.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • Firefox doesn't recognize some links on a home utility website

I logged on to my gas utility provider. There is a link that asks you to choose the region where you are receiving the service. The link opens up a pop-up which offers you links to all the available regions. When I click on my link, nothing happens, except for the url showing on the bottom of the browser as if I am only hovering. Other links on this pop-up work. I would think this is a current broken link on the website, BUT, the link works fine in internet explorer!
There is a trick I can use to open the link: I can right-click on the link, and choose open link in another tab, and the link then works. This is driving me mad. One time I saw a 2 second comment about my K-9 security software, but it was too fast to actually read it. I've used this site countless times and never had a problem. There are a number of places on the site that offer this pop-up. It always refuses to acknowledge regular clicking on the link I need.
Again, I would think this has something to do with the website itself, or the K-9 protection I saw for that split second, but the reality is, it's NOT happening in Internet Explorer, only in firefox.
I tried clicking on this link from firefox safe mode, but that didn't work either. I know I can continue using my "trick", but I don't like that firefox is simply refusing to recognize and connect to a link for no apparent reason. I've emptied my cache, deleted all my cookies, history, logins, and anything else that
might be preserving some kind of glitch that may have occured once. I've closed and re-opened firefox. I've closed and restarted my whole computer. Firefox refuses to respond to this link, without my using the "right click - open in another tab trick".
Does anyone have any other ideas of what to tweak?

It looks like an overlay in the page rather than a separate pop-up window. Firefox's pop-up permissions do not apply to overlays.
Did this problem just start after August 6th? Firefox 23 has a new mixed content blocker which could affect sites that are showing an insecure (HTTP) overlay on an secure (HTTPS) page. Typically a "shield" icon would appear to the left of the URL on the address bar. This article has more information about how to recognize that situation and deal with it: [[How does content that isn't secure affect my safety?]]
    Does that seem relevant?

  • Firefox Doesn't display correctly and is very laggy on sites with CloudFlare DDoS Protection

Since 35.0 and above i have been getting weird behaviour on sites with CloudFlare DDoS protection.
When i open the site in a new window, it takes a really long time and sometimes doesn't display at all and gives me a blank page. and now it just starts to say "New Tab" and i can't hit refresh.
When the site actually loads after 20 something attempts, the site is laggy, any action takes upwards of 20 seconds.
Whenever i try to open something, i get a blank page with the URL at tabs. Whenever i try to like or post anything, it delays by 15-20 seconds.
Site i am trying to use with much failure. http://hypixel.net/
    Anyone else having this issue?

  • Firefox doesn't Goolge search links in same tab, it does if opened in another tab

I conduct a google search (via awesome bar), everything is fine (links and search results show up).
If i click a link of my interest it turns pink (so the 'click' is registered), but it does not take me to the website.
However, when i try and load it in a new tab, that turns out to work. To load the link in a new tab I use the MMB (middle mouse button).
This problem has been occuring for the past weeks and I thought it might be a flaw in an update.
    OS: Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
    Firefox 28.0
You have any ideas? You can give me technical details so i can look at the files myself too. So I can learn for the future.
    Thank you for your time!

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

  • Firefox doesn't work correctly with Office Live and Hotmail.

I have recently installed a Office Live update. When i click on a file to edit I get amessage popup saying "To complete installation of the Office Live Update, close all browser windows and then open your browser again." I have done this several times but it does not make any difference. I have tried to do the same in IE and it works fine, but I really don't want to go back to using IE. What is the problem and how do I fix it? I also have difficulty in Firefox when using the "reply" function in Hotmail. The message body i'm replying to disappears, but this works okay in IE too. Is this Microsoft's way of making people go back to using IE by putting bugs in their systems so microsoft related products/websites won't work in Firefox?

  • Firefox doesn't see correct plugin to allow upgrade to 5

I am running the most recent version of Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and Firefox 3.6.16.  Firefox 4 has been out for a long time, and now Firefox 5 is available.  I usually get update notices from them, but did not get any notice that the newer versions were available. Following their support directions, it said to use their plugin checker, which I did.  Everything has been updated except for the QuickTime plugin, because they say I have 7.6.3 and need to update to 7.6.5.  This seems nuts, because I found the plugin in the Library/Internet plugins, and I have 7.6.6.  In fact their Update button, when I click that, takes me to to 7.6.5, which is for Leopard, not SnowLeopard.
Should I just download Firefox 5 and see if it runs, since the newer plugin I would think would work with it?  I'm particularly concerned because they are no longer supporting Firefox 3X, and obviously there are new security updates coming along all the time. Does anyone know if it will install?  My concern is that it could disable Firefox completely, and I don't want that to happen.
    All suggestions most graciously appreciated.

  • Firefox doesn't display links correctly where they are supposed to be.

I am using a Dell Venue Tablet running Windows 8. I try to load a web page and the links that are supposed to appear above a certain area, show up on the left side of the screen in a column, only in a text style format. The entire page itself isn't loading correctly. I've tried installing and reinstalling Java and that doesn't seem to work. It does the same thing in Internet Explorer as well. Don't know if this is a browser issue or something else?

The tablet is Win 8, but this computer is a Mac, Yes ?

  • Firefox doesn't render my web page correctly other browsers do

Hi My website works correctly in IE9, Safari, Opera and Chrome but Firefox doesn't render my Contacts page correctly. The contact form position is wrong and the navigation does not work for the Contacts page. The only issue is with Firefox which fails to render the Contacts page correctly. Both HTML and CSS validate.
    The website is http://www.pcwebsite.org.uk

thanks you for the link. I'll try that option next. But clearly since:
    Internet Explorer 9,8, even 7
    Chrome
    Safari
    and Opera
render the webpage correctly and there is no issue with validation of both HTML and CSS, then surely Firefox is not working to industry standards.
I can use any browser I care to but I can't control what browser my potential clients use.
"I'm not sure if this is caused by the floating sidebar content as a style rule of clear:both or clear:left partially fixes this at least horizontally (it is still off to the left)."
There is nothing wrong with the code is there as it works perfectly with the other browsers listed above? Maybe I should put the whole web page in a table.

  • Link on my website doesn't work correctly on my iMac. It works correctly on Safari, and both browsers on my laptop.

Link on my website doesn't work correctly on my iMac. It works okay when using Safari. It also works correctly on my laptop using either browser.

We worked out my problem. My solution turned out to be: Firefox Preferences/Applications. Scroll down until you find "Portable Document Format (application)", click on it and use the dropdown menu to the right and changed "Save file" to "Use Adobe Acrobat Pro (default). I had trouble at first finding if the listing was under Adobe, Acrobat, or what so I used the search feature and found it immediately.
    Hope this helps.

  • Type Error: oE Started immediately after Auto Java update! Other threads just started but doesn't mention the relationship! Firefox reset does not correct

Problem correlates exactly with the Java update time per event viewer! Problem is starting to gain traction as more users experience same! Can’t determine how to fix? Maybe an error in the Java update?

I have also been having this problem, starting today, although my Firefox doesn't crash/close when the error box pops up - I can just close the box and carry on browsing.
However, as with the person in the thread listed above, I found that disabling McAfee SiteAdvisor seems to stop it happening (it happened fairly at random, but in about half an hour of browsing with it disabled, I haven't had the error pop up, compared to within a few minutes when SiteAdvisor is enabled). It looks like there was also a SiteAdvisor update today, so that also correlates with the onset of this problem. Are other people getting this problem using SiteAdvisor? I don't know much about the mechanics of SiteAdvisor - could there be a link with Java too?
    Using Firefox 27.0, Windows 7 SP1, McAfee SiteAdvisor 3.6.5, Java 10.45.2.18.

  • When I click on a link within a website to open a document (word, excel etc.), Firefox doesn't open it. Even when I tell it to open in a new window, it just opens a blank tab labeled "untitled."

When I try to click on a link to a document within a website, that document doesn't open like it should. For instance, if I go to the census website and click on a link to open an excel spreadsheet, Firefox doesn't do it. It usually does nothing; if I tell it to open in a new window or tab, it just opens a tab labeled "untitled" that ends up being a blank page.

Find and select excel spreadsheet or any other content type in the left column. There should be a corresponding action in the right column. What is it? You can use the drop-down list to select the option you want:
Always Ask - Firefox will ask each time: What do you want to do with this file?
Save file - Firefox will save this file to your computer
