Firefox doesn't work on certain websites

I am continually running into sites that don't work well with Firefox. I tend to think it's because of the rapid-fire changes FF makes to itself, but nevertheless, it's annoying. The sites all tell me to "use Chrome" as a solution, and most times, that works. The thing is, I don't like Chrome. I have FF set up the way I want it. It is my browser of choice, despite the fact that it is losing users to Chrome every day. I don't think I will ever switch, but I really need it to work consistently. I'm having to use the portable version now because the desktop version doesn't work for me anymore. After the latest update, Flash sites won't load half the time. They too work in Chrome.
This time it is redgage.com. Most of the features only work if I use the right click and open it in a new tab. I've tried safe mode.
What is the solution to this? I don't have time to keep making adjustments to the program and coming in here to get no answers, and everyone saying they have no problems. SERIOUSLY? That's not what all my friends who switched to Chrome are saying. I feel like I'm losing my right arm.

Yes, every link on RedGage is broken. To open one in the same tab, you have to drag and drop it on the address bar.
But I think it's their fault. In the Browser Console:
13:46:52.262 ReferenceError: event is not defined MainViewModel.js
Looks like a rookie mistake in this script:
self.trigger = function (modelView, evt) {
var target;
util.hidePopup();
'''if (event.ctrlKey || event.metaKey || event.which == 2) {'''
return true;
if (evt.preventDefault) {
evt.preventDefault();
target = $(evt.target);
} else
target = $(evt);
var url = target && $(target).closest('a').attr('href') || $('.filter li.active a').attr('href');
if (url)
self.do_load_url(url);
return false;
In the bolded line, "event" is a typo and should be "evt". Maybe if you point them to this thread they'll fix it. Even if other browsers work this way.

  • Brower doesn't work on certain websites

    Hello,
    I've had my Macbook for a few years now and nothing major has happened to it before. Just last night my internet was fine, and this morning, when I opened up Firefox, the usual websites I checked wouldn't work (facebook, google, youtube, yahoo, etc.). I connect through the network using wireless at home by the way. At first I thought something was wrong with my Firefox, so I removed firefox and loaded in Safari, same problem, no websites would load, sometimes it would load but not correctly (only showing texts and some pictures, no background and other html data).
    So my solution was to restart my Charter modem, didn't work. I restarted my router, didn't work. I went onto my desktop computer and everything in the browsers were fine. I opened up another internet connection and allowed my Macbook to connect to that, and things started to work. I was able to go onto other websites, but still not the ones that I initially tried. I went back onto the original setup, now all the websites are working again, except the ones I tried initially (facebook, google, yahoo, youtube, etc.) Everything else works fine but those websites.
    I figure that I need to reset something in my network settings?
    Somebody please help me out.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Unless you were changing network settings just before the problem happened, don't change any network settings until you do all of the following:
    1) Restart your modem +(You did this)+
    2) Restart your wireless router +(You did this)+
    3) Restart your computer
    4) Clear your browser cache, and Quit the brower
    5) Reload the browser and try the affected pages again
    Did you download and install any recent Apple updates (Safari 5.0.4)?
    Are you using the new Firefox version 4 released yesterday?
    Were there error messages for the pages that did not load?
    So what could have happened?
    A local Internet Service Provider may lose their connection to the rest of the internet for a period of time.
    Your ISP's primary Domain Name Server may be offline. This is like losing the 'telephone directory' that matches names like facebook.com to a DNS address like 204.74.66.132
    Some event such a tornado or an earthquake makes web servers go offline suddenly.
    There may be malicious 'denial of service' attacks on popular website.
    And very rarely, many Domain Name Servers get a faulty update, and much of the internet simply disappears until the problem is fixed.

    Send your system specs to Adobe, with detailed information on
    what is not working, and the exact Player version(9.what?). Player
    9 currently has loads of system specific issues, help them fix it
    by sending your data. No one here is going to be able to fix your
    problem, other than suggesting to load an older version of the
    Flash Player and see if that makes it go away:

  • FF7 Back button doesn't work in certain websites

    On some websites, the back button (clicking the back arrow or using keyboard shortcut) doesnt work. I looks like it wants to, but stays on the same page, no matter how many times I click it.
    And it works fine on a lot of other sites.
    FF 7.0.1 as default browser, Vista Business SP2.
    It's consistent on seacoastonline.com. I've tried disabling all plugins and extensions, running in safe mode, renaming places.sqlite file.

    Any entries in the session history of that tab?
    Use one of these methods to open the tab history list:
    * Right click on the Back or Forward button
    * Hold down the left mouse button on the enabled Back or Forward button until the list opens

    Hmm, that is very strange. I agree with MichelB that it's probably best just to get the PDF, but you can try going to your username>library>preferences and deleting:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
    To see the library, click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in there it wouldn't be a bad idea to go to the Saved Application States folder and delete anything pertaining to PSE.
    Repair permissions and see if that does it.

        4. Visit http://my-site.com/scripts/form_check.php in a web browser and make sure you see all green checkmarks. If some items do not display green checkmarks that means that the hosting server is not configured correctly to allow the Form widgets to send email messages to the address you've specified.
                    Contact your web-hosting provider about the server configuration problem. Describe the items that are not marked as green in the form check page, so that they can help you set up the servers to use the correct settings.

  • Back Button Doesn't Work on Some Websites

    How come my Back Button Doesn't Work on Some Websites? It just keeps redisplaying the same page over and over. Example:
    http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/front

    Back button behaviour can be pretty wierd. I usually use the keyboard combination, but for some reason it doesn't work on PDF's and I have to end up using the graphical back button.
    There are some websites out there that for some reason or another break the Back button's behaviour. Sometimes I have to hold down the mouse button to get the back button menu in order to work around that problem.
    In another case there was this page in Amazon that wouldn't allow me to go back to. Everytime I went to that page the browser to automatically kick me to the next page. I had to disable javascript to work around that problem.

    Looks like you have conflict with your java home and you are running 2 different JREs. Keep the latest and try launching EM console again and post the exception if you get any.

    Are you printing from the Flash right-click menu or through Firefox? I don't think Firefox prints Flash regions when you print the entire page.

  • Javscript doesn't work on some websites with FireFox 8

    When I login to some site, like my online banking site (https://www.txn.banking.pcfinancial.ca), some JavaScript links do not work in FF8 (but they work in FF7 and IE7/8). Most annoyingly, the Logout link doesn't work, so I can't safely logout from my banking site. I contacted the bank, but they say that because it works in other browsers, it must be a problem with FF8, and I tend to agree.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    *Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

    Try to open the right-click context menu of the Back button and see if you can go back further.
    The current active entry in that list has a bullet in front of it.
    If you hover an entry in that session history list then it shows the direction by adding an arrow at the left.
    You can left click an item to open it in the current tab or middle-click or Ctrl left-click an entry in that list to open that link in new tab, just like you can with other links.
