Firefox & Internet Explorer

Hello there,
I've created a website in Dreamweaver CS3 using AP Tags.
However, when I view the page, it's look absolutly perfect in
Firefox though in Internet Explorer it looks relatively the same
but things have moved; for example, I've used an AP Tag scroller
and in Internet Explorer the scroller doesn't show at all - in
Firefox it does.
Can anyone help in this somewhat frustrating problem.
All the best,
Kristopher (UK).

Actually, the real reason that their use is a bad idea, is
that if the text
inside the AP element is resized, the AP element *will*
resize to
accommodate it. When it resizes, it does not 'push' other
elements aside,
like normal 'in the flow' containers would do, and you wind
up with AP
content overflowing normal content, and a big overlapping
mess. In this
sense, their problems are caused by BEING flexible, not by
being inflexible.
But I'm guessing that your use of the word "flexible" was not
made in that
sense....

I have both Mozilla Firefox & Internet Explorer installed one my computer, but chose to us Firefox. Several days ago while opening Firefox a screen popped up which said that my Firefox browser was out of date. I clicked on the box, which said free download. This happened several times and now on my desktop I have Firefox Setup 3.6.13, Firefox Setup 3.6.13.exe, Firefox Setup 3.6.13(2), Firefox Setup 3.6.13(3), Firefox Setup 3.6.13(3).exe, Firefox Setup 3.6.13(4) and I still keep getting the same pop-up screen for a free download of a newer, speedier, more secure version of Firefox. I tried calling Mozilla Corporation in Mountain View, CA; but was unable to speak with anyone. I also got an 800 number (1-800-229-9895) from information and called that number. On the first 800 call the person hung-up. On the second call I spoke to Marv and supposedly got disconnected. On the third call I spoke to Marv again. He informed me that I couldn’t speak to anyone at Mozilla and had to pay $99 to get any help. He also told me that: if I tried to remove the extra Firefox downloads or tried to remove Firefox completely, my computer would crash. I can’t afford the $99 and don’t know what to do next. Can you help me. Jack (Phone number removed by mod).

As far as I know, Mozilla doesn't have any paid support service. There are lots of other companies that advertise paid support for desktop software including Firefox. Maybe you called one of those other providers??
Anyway, I suggest dragging all those exe files on your desktop to the recycle bin. They are all out of date.
Before upgrading, have you considered making a backup? Your bookmarks and other Firefox settings ''should'' be safe during an upgrade, but better safe than sorry. This article describes how you can back up: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. For example, you can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.
To get the latest Firefox, you can try either of these:
    (1) Help > Check for Updates - this should work automatically
    (2) Download the installer for Firefox 12 from http://www.mozilla.org/firefox (green button) to a convenient location, then double-click to launch it (Firefox needs to be closed)
After you see Firefox 12, the user interface will look different. For tips on how to restore features you miss from Firefox 3.6, you can ask questions here. For a little advance reading, check out this article: [http://www.computertechtips.net/64/make-firefox-4-look-like-ff-3-6/ Make Firefox 4+ Look Like FF 3.6 | Computer Tech Tips].

  • How can I use same bookmarks file for both Firefox & Internet Explorer?

There are lots of questions and answers about how to import/export bookmarks/favorites to/from Internet Explorer, but they all seem to assume that afterward you're only going to use the one browser.
But like many other people, although I prefer to use Firefox, there are times I need to use IE for certain sites, or to see how a page I'm creating will display to IE users. This means that I regularly edit bookmarks/favorites in both browsers, and can't possibly keep up with importing/exporting back and forth. What I need to do is use the same set of bookmarks with both browsers, so that the next time I bookmark a page in IE it will be available when I re-open Firefox and vice versa.
I had things configured that way on my last computer, and it worked beautifully for years. Of course, it's long enough ago that I forgot how I did it, and a perfect memory wouldn't help anyway, since it was under Windows XP, and older versions of both browsers. Now I'm in the throes of learning Windows 7 on a new machine and haven't yet figured out how it thinks or wants me to think, so until I get my feet under me I'll need some pretty specific instructions. (Explanation would also be appreciated, as I do like to know the whys of things and it will help me become more proficient eventually; but at this moment my mental bandwidth is pretty low and my priority is just to get some basic things working.)

    Hi fastauntie,
This add-on may be able to help: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/plainoldfavorites PlainOldFavorites]. It allows you to access your Internet Explorer favourites from within firefox. There are some instructions here: [http://www.howtogeek.com/59050/from-the-tips-box-simple-ie-to-firefox-syncing-easy-windows-toolbars-and-identifying-usb-cables/]
Also you might be interested in [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ie-tab-2-ff-36 IE Tab v2]. It will allow you to use the Internet Explorer rendering engine from within firefox. It is useful if you want to see how a page would display in IE without leaving Firefox.
    I hope that helps,

  • Hotmail is printed in AAA size in Firefox Internet Explorer OK

Messages from Hotmail are printed in AAA size text which is so small
it is impossible to read when using Firefox, but prints perfectly OK
    with Internet Explorer.
Firefox was OK until recently, it could have happened with the latest
    update.

After looking further through the Firefox site, I found something that told me how to change "search engines" which I did not know one could do. I have changed to Google and deleted the AVG Secure Search, which appears to have been the problem. Many thanks for help, "madperson" and "ideato".

  • Content Coding Error in Firefox/Internet Explorer cannot display webpage

I can log into Beehive without any issues. I used to be able to go to Workspaces > All My Workspaces and see all the workspaces I had access to. From this list, I could get to any of these workspaces. Now when I go to the same navigation, I get in 'Content Coding Error' in Firefox 9 and 'Internet Explorer cannot display webpage' in Internet Explorer 7.
If I find an email that invited me to a specific workspace, I can access that workspace only. I cannot find a way to access all workspaces I have access to within Beehive.
Please let me know what other information I need to provide for assistance.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/index.html is a public page with no obvious protection so anyone should be able to see it without any difficulty. If this is the page causing the issue then it suggests a local browser issue.
If you are getting this after logging into https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/teamcollab then it means your account is not provisioned correctly. Contact us out of the forum with your details and we can check out if we have a provisioning issue. I would need your email address and any group you have been invited to be a member of - send it to [email protected]

  • Firefox/internet explorer help

well my website is still in the making but i have run into
some problems. in order to see what im talking about you will have
to have internet explorer and firefox. first go on firefox and go
to my website (www.killerarcadegames.com) then go to games section
and you see the tabs and thats how there suppose to look but when
you go to internet explorer its messed up with the multiplayer tab.
I remember making the mistake and it showed that but i fixed it but
now it still shows it in ie how do i edit from one to the other and
    make them the same.
    thx

There are also some other issues that can cause problems with browser display. You have multiple uses of html ids. An id can only be used once on a page. If you want to use the same css for multiple elements, use a class selector instead.
    <div id="page_breaker"> should be <div class="page_breaker"> then in your css, #page_breaker would be .page_breaker
You have a couple images with empty src attributes. That can throw a broweser off too. If you need them to be blank for a rollover or image swap, use a transparent .gif as the starting image.

  • Flash Player 9 + Firefox / Internet Explorer and Proxyserver Settings inside the Browser

    Dear Adobe,
according to this document from your Website:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashcom/articles/firewalls_proxy04.html
    which says:
"When running within a browser, Macromedia Flash Player uses
the browser's HTTP services to communicate through RTMPT. Since
browsers also support SSL, why not add in support for secure
encrypted HTTPS tunneling? That is exactly what Macromedia did. You
can request an HTTPS tunnel using a third protocol: RTMPS."
it should be so, that the Flash Player (up to the latest
release) that for the RTMPT mode the player should use the http
    methods of the browser.
Using the http methods of the browser means, that it should
honour also the Proxy Server Settings of the Browser (it doesn't
matter if that is firefox or internet explorer).
We tested that with our own application, but it looks like,
that flash player in rtmtp net connection mode doesn't honour the
browser settings or using the http browser methods.
It looks more like that, that it creates a self made tcp
socket connection to the fms server, which is correct when you are
not using rtmpt, but according to your documentation, it's not.
Please advice me, how to reach a FMS via a simple (i.e.
Squid) Proxy on port (i.e.) 8080 which is being set in the browsers
    settings.
And I don't think the Flash Player is just for private
customers who are using the internet without any proxies.
Thank you very much in advance for your help and your
    answers...
If you don't want to reveal the secret, please write me via
my personal email which you can get from my profile.
    Thx,
    Stephan

up in a debugger and look for a non-MMX code path and see if I can
    patch one to work.
I thought of "back-reving" to the latest Flash 7 player to
see if the issue goes away but I have yet to do that.
Good luck looking for a non-MMX code path hidden upstream of
    the offending MMX instruction.
Going back to Flash 7 is relatively easy and you will
suddenly be able to visit places you haven't been in years, but
there are still some sites that will block you unless you have
    Flash player 8 or 9.
First use the Adobe uninstaller to clean up which is found
    at .
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157
Then find a copy of :
    flashplayer7r61_winax.exe
and run it. That will give you the latest Flash 7.

  • Cannot download firefox. internet explorer down loads to 99% then stops!

I ran firefox for several years with no trouble. I had a script problem and was told i should remove and reload firefox 6. which i did. I then used inteernet explorer to go to firefox download site and hit download, it proceeded to 99% downloaded and stopped, box said IE it stopped so as not to harm my computer. Thats it!! I've tried several sites to download but all same results.

I see you have just updated your original question, it is better to reply to an answer rather than update the original question, it makes it easier to see the updates.
Since the problem is with IE, you would be better off asking in a forum that specializes in Microsoft products. You can try asking in the Internet Explorer forum at [http://eileenslounge.com/ Eileen's Lounge].

  • JSP - FireFox - Internet Explorer

    Hi all
I have a strange problem. I am using response.sendRedirect(url) in my jsp page. This redirection works fine in Firefox, but gives "Page Cannot Be Displayed" in IE.
Has anyone encountered similar errors? Does anyone know about any Settings change that should be made to IE to run the jsp properly? Any ideas?
    Thank You

Can you access the page in ie by typing in the URL?
What you describe implies that the redirect is working ok, but the page you are re-directing to has a problem.
If this is the case there will be problem in your HTML / javaScript output. One way to find the problem is to view source in the browser and paste it into your html editor where you can work on identifying the problem.

I had this problem as well. I found that somehow the firefox.exe file had been set to run in compatibility mode for Windows 95.
To check this on your system Browse to the firefox folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) and right click on the file "firefox.exe".
Select "Properties" and then the "Compatibility" tab. Make sure the option "Run this program in compatibility mode for" is UNCHECKED.
Then try running Firefox as normal. Worked for me.
    Best of Luck.

    The website is http://wwww.bataviabulldogfootball.tk

Note that running your page through the W3C Validator gives this list of errors: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bataviabulldogfootball.tk%2F&charset=%2 8detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0
I see that you have a very thin doctype at the top. I suggest you create a new page in Dreamweaver and copy the bit at the top of the page:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
Then put that code in place of these lines from your current page:
    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8" />
I see that you have two opening <body> tags. Delete one; it is not needed. Add the preload images from the second into the first body tag and delete the second.
I see code below the closing </html> tag. Re position it before the closing </body> tag.
Because of these errors mentioned above, it was impossible to see the page. Fix and reply here when you have done so.
Also, it is not possible for me to divine what difficulty you are having. If you can please also express it in English (LOL), I'll be happy to suggest a correction for you!
    Beth
p.s. Posting entire blocks of code is NEVER as helpful as giving us a link to the pages in action. I seldom read through code dumps here in the Forum.
