Firefox not recognizing my plugins

when I hit the update button firefox message was it did not detect any plugins but I have them they are there in the tools section under add ins . I just updated and downloaded adobe flash 11 along with Java as well.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • (06 Oct 14) updated firefox and Kaspersky, now have problems with Barclays site - firefox "not responding" and plugin error on trying to close. Help!

Updated Kaspersky to 15.0.0.463(a) - ( comes with "safe money" - now turned off).
Updated Firefox from (old) version to 32.0.3.
Barclays bank site loads properly, and allows access to accounts BUT when I try to look at a statement, Firefox "not responding" and a blank/ unresponsive page is displayed.
In order to acheive any movement I have to close firefox... this gives rise to windows wanting to send error data, and Firefox apologising for loosing the tab.
None of which allows me to do essential banking transactions.
It is this machine that has the problem - I can access without problems via work computer (using google Chrome)

My guess is that your statement is a PDF document, since banks and other companies often use that format for statements.
Firefox has various options for viewing PDFs, including a built-in PDF viewer (not as full featured as Adobe's), or the option to use a plugin such as Adobe Acrobat, or to launch the PDF in an external application. This article describes how to experiment with that setting: [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]].
On another subject, your plugin list has various plugins described as "Google Chrome Extension". I haven't seen that before. Could you review the list and see whether they really should be active in Firefox or can be deactivated?
Open the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins.
For those that are not essential, I suggest changing them to "Never Activate". This might not take effect immediately in that window, but should disable them in new windows.

  • Firefox 3.6.11 on Linux is not recognizing any plugins how can I fix this?

I'm running Enterprise linux 5.5 64-bit. I have tried installing the java plugin and can't get Firefox to recognize it. I could not get flash to work either.

In Firefox 3.6 and later versions you need the Next-Generation Java™ Plug-In present in Java 6 U10 and later (Linux: libnpjp2.so; Windows: npjp2.dll).

  • Why is Firefox not recognized as a modern brower?

Whenever I log on to most sites (gmail, youtube, google news, etc) I get a message telling me that my browser is not supported and I need to upgrade to a modern browser. I am running Windows 7 and the browser is Firefox 8. I have reintalled FF8 after deleting it entirely and initially it worked, however, upon restart it began to do the same thing, gmail coming up in HTML for instance, and sites requiring the same upgrade that I just did. I saw there was an issue with Adblock, so I deleted that from my ad-ons, tried to find an issue with about:config but could see no glaring issue. I also saw on the web that someone running IE8 had a similar problem and they were told to alter some IE specific fields in Regedit. I didn't do these, not being sure they would be the same for FF8. Other browsers I use, Chrome, Safari, do not have this problem and in fact I have virtually gone over to Chrome since this has been an issue from the day I installed FF8. What is wrong with the program, and why does it switch back to incompatible after a restart?

You seem to have the general.useragent.override pref set to an empty string.<br />
You can reset that pref to the default via the right-click context menu to remove that override.

  • Firefox not recognizing flash player 10.1.82.76 update

Hi, I have a problem installing the latest flash player update on my firefox browser. I got the the installer page (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/) and I install everything and follow all of the instructions, and flash player installs successfully, but it says it installed version 10.1.53.64. I've tried uninstalling the previous version with the instructions on this page (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html) several times, but it still shows the flash player version on the site, which means it wasn't uninstalled. I've also tried using the stand alone installer after disabling the adobe getplus plugin in firefox, but it still shows flash player version 10.1.53.64 as my current version in firefox plugins. However, I installed the flash player 10.1.82.76 update on to Internet Explorer 8 without any problems, it's just Firefox that I'm having trouble with. Thanks for the Help.

  • Firefox not recognizing files bookmarks in, forcing me to import single bookmark at time, which is impossible. Help??

When I upgraded my computer I saved all my bookmarks in a file named "Bookmark". This file contains subfiles like "Argentina" and "genealogy" which then contain the links. When I go to import Firefox does not recognize the folders, and want me to import links individually. I have thousands, so this is almost impossible. Any fix for this? Way I can cut and paste the things? Don't mind recreating the folder system if I have to. Help and thanks!

    Hi,
Please try this: Copy the "Bookmark" folder into the '''Favorites''' folder inside your username. In Firefox, open '''Bookmarks''' ('''Alt''' + '''B''') > '''Show All Bookmarks''', click '''Import and Backup''' (on the top) > '''Import Data from Another Browser''', '''Microsoft Internet Explorer'''.

  • Problem on Ebay that Firefox 5 is not recognized?

Hi, I just updated my browser to Firefox 5 yesterday (I used to have Microsoft Explorer) and today I tried to list a classifed ad on ebay.co.uk and the ebay system generated an automatic error message saying that I need to update above Firefox 1.5 so it is not recognizing Firefox 5 and I was not able to input the information on the ebay system. I contact Ebay help and there only suggestion was to switch over to Microsoft Explorer. I would prefer to keep using Firefox - do you have any suggestions. Please let me know if you have any questions.

In case you did not get why Ed gave you that link, you appear to be posting with a Firefox 3.5.5 useragent . It was not until Firefox 4.0 and newer that Mozilla made it so extensions could not tack stuff on end and potentially make the UA get stuck at the version one had when a the extension that affected it was installed.
    Your useragent.

  • Mac OS 10.5.6 downloaded Firefox 3.6.13 Came as .dmg When I try to launch it says "Not Recognized". Right click for "Open With" refers me to Disk Utility when same results "Not Recognized"

About my Mac > G5 Desktop OS 10.5.6
Want to upgrade to Firefox 3.6.13
The download comes as a compressed file in .dmg format. When I attempt to launch the .dmg file to decompress I get a error message that says: The following disk images failed to mount: Image > Firefox 3.6.13 Reason > Not Recognized. When I right click to see what opening app it is directed to it says: Open with "DiskImageMounter (default). Disk Utility is offered as another opening resource when I direct the file to Disk Utility and go to Menu Bar select "File" then select "Open Disk Image" (or Cmd + "O") I get the same result. Have tried downloading the file twice more and get the same results

Vk2mh it sounds like the download was not complete or corrupted.  Where are you downloading the update from?  Have you tried downloading again?

  • Canon EOS Movie Plugin-E1 not recognized in Final Cut Pro 10.0.7

Canon EOS Movie Plugin-E1 not recognized in Final Cut Pro 10.0.7
I just installed the new version of final cut pro 10 and the canon plugin-E1 version 1.4 for the canon 5D mk III but after starting final cut pro I can not find the Log and transfer button., with the result I cannot import my files.
Is there a solution for this problem.

There is no L&T function in FCPX.
The import media dialogue window does what you want.
OS versions later than 10.6 should be fine importing Canon DSLRs.

  • Firefox 4.0 dmg not recognized on mac os 10.5.8

trying to upgrade from firefox 3.6.
downloaded firefox 4.0 dmg file not recognized.
working with mac operating system 10.5.8.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

  • Firefox will not recognize java plugin that has been installed and worked 1 day ago.

I have an IMac with OSX 10.5.8, Firefox 5.0, One day ago it worked fine, today when going to a specific site that requires Java, Firefox will not recognize that Java is installed. I checked for updates and there are none. Java is installed and the site works fine with Safari, which requires Java as well. How can i get Firefox to recognize Java installation.

Apple has removed support for the Java Plugin2 with the latest Java Update 10 for OS X 10.5 Java version, so the Java plugin is no longer available for Firefox versions and other browsers like Google Chrome that require the Java Plugin2.
The Java Plugin2 plugin is still there, but he softlink to it has been removed with this update, so Firefox doesn't find the plugin.
There will be fix for this in the next release (Firefox 5.0.1 or 6), so that Firefox will find the plugin again.
I don't know if all Java applets will still be working on OS X 10.5 with that JP2 plugin (Apple recommends updating to OS X 10.6 for OS X 10.5 users with an Intel Mac).
