Firefox running slow

have upgraded to the current version several times only to end up going back to older version. I am running a 2.3 pentium 4 processor with 3gb ram. The older version ran slow but when I upgraded to your current version the slow down was extremely more noticeable. I also run IE8, Chrome, & Opera. There has been no issue with any of them except Opera is not always compatible with some websites

If anything I would expect the newer Firefox 12 to be faster. It is not recmended to use older versions of Firefox, they are not considered secure, and increase the risk to your personal data, and to your computer system.

  • Why does the new version FireFox run slower than the old one?

I have a fairly new computer but Firefox runs slower than the older version. Can this be remedied?

That does not sound right. I recommend rebuilding your VI. Beore you do, open the top level VI and press contol-shift-run arrow to perform a manual binary recompile. This makes LabVIEW recompile the whole code. Most times you will not see anything happen but occasionally an error will surface. Be sure to save the VI then rebuild it.
You may also need to reinstall the LabVIEW run time engine and/or LabVIEW. I would start with the run time engine first.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Firefox running slow or not loading sites before and after security update

Firefox was slow or would time out loading websites and I got a notice of security update. I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8 and Firefox 10.0.1. I've tried saving a new profile in Terminal and it keeps telling me "firefox-bin quit unexpectedly). I've tried to make a new profile and there is no "Firefox" listed under "Library/Applications Support". Google Chrome is wicked quick and Safari is working normally. Firefox is my choice but I just can't use it. Any suggestions that won't cause me to loose my bookmarks, etc.?

    Thanks.
Yes I have. That's where I ran into the problem in trying to set up a new profile and found no listing for Firefox under my Library/Applications Support. I can't make a new profile if I can't access Applications Support. I miss Firefox. There are so many things to like about it but it's just not functional right now and I'm apparently not the only person with this problem. Chrome is my current best friend, sad to say.

  • Latest version of Why is the latest version of Firefox running slow?

Firefox is running very slow, some pages slower than others, Like Ebay is impossible to scroll down the page. Even this page is slow. I have reset, deleted bookmarks, tabs, nothing helps. I have used Firefox for a few years, but now have had to use Opera which is super fast.
    Thomas

You might already have reviewed the suggestions in this article, but if not: [[Firefox is slow - How to make it faster]].
Since Flash is used pervasively on the web, as a diagnostic, could I suggest this test: set the Flash player to "click to play" so that sites require your permission to use it. Firefox should load the rest of the page more quickly and you can decide whether the site needs to be able to use Flash. (Sometimes it's just for analytics, super-cookies, or to play ads.)
    Here's how:
Open the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins.
On the right side, look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate".
When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar (looks like a small lego block) and one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.
    Do pages load any faster?

  • Why is Firefox running slow with version 17?

Hello there I was wondering whether you could please assist me with an issue with version 17.
I have recently updated to firefox 17 and i regret to advise that its running really really slow. I notice several other users have had similar issues as I noticed in the support forums.
I am running Trend Micro Virus software if that means anything to the performance of firefox.
I love using firefox and really would like to get this issue fixed if you can point me in the right direction.

I have the same experience when I updated Firefox to a new version but kept an very old version Adblock Plus, which still appeared to work properly. After update ABP to the new version, my Firefox doesn't stuck any more.
Try to run Firefox without any addon loaded. If FF runs smoothly alone, then there must be some problem with your addons.

  • Firefox runs slow since adobe update

I just updated by Adobe Reader to 11 and now Firefox is extremely slow. My computer is running on Windows XP.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • Why does Firefox run slower on Wondows 7 64bit?

Ok so I just totally rebuilt my system but instead of reinstalling Windows 7 32bit I decided I wanted to run a 64bit version instead. But when I ran 32bit Firefox was my fastest browser and now that I have a 64bit its in 2nd place to IE9 beta. So was just wondering really if there was a 64bit edition of Firefox that I'm not able to find.

Have you tuned your windows system and gotten rid of indexing and excess processes.  See this tuning guide

  • Firefox runs slow and stops for a bit

I find that running flash games such as the ones through Facebook have a lag or the browser freezes up and I have to wait for it to finally go through after sometimes 20-30 seconds. Yet, Chrome and IE9 work without issue moving right through to what I click on.

Also, I have found this to be the same on every computer I use.
    Windows 7, Windows 8
    Firefox Vers: 17.0.1
    Flash: 11.5.502.135
As you can tell, all this is up to date. Its the frames inside the flash window that end up lagging. I used to strictly use Firefox because it didn't have these issues. Now its reversed and I have started to use IE again.
One correction, IE versions I'm using are both 9 and 10.

  • I use Firefox as well as Safari, but Firefox runs slower,

Firefox hangs pages, won't load pages ect. It does not do this all the time, but a fair amount of it. I do not have the same problem with Safari, so I am suspicious as to whether other browsers are less eefficient on my Mac by design so that I use Safari exclusively

FF is my browser of choice.  Have no problems.
Are you using any add-ons that may be the cause?

  • Firefox runs slow with avast add-on?

After following the advice here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/997428 I identified the avast add-on as causing the problem. What is the reason for this? Can I not use this add-on at all?
    Running windows 8 64bit

Disable it, then contact Avast support about problems with their add-on.

    Hi rocket46,
I understand that Firefox is running slow, that is not right. I would be happy to help provide some steps to fix this on Firefox for Android

  • Firefox runs extremely slow on my Macbook Pro after upgrade to 5.0.1. It is unbearable.

I upgraded to 5.0.1, then to 6.0, and Firefox still runs slow. Gets stuck for a minute when I open new windows and type a Google search. The version I had before 3.6.x handled my rapid-fire new window searches no problem, but now I find myself waiting while Firefox locks up my whole computer for a minute or so.
I uninstalled 6.0 and reinstalled 3.6.21, but it is still very laggy.
Please give me a suggestion on how to fix this, I've tried using other browsers and don't like them. I'm in my last year of nursing school and don't want to have to learn another browser!!

That are 2 very good leads, but unfortunately I already tested that: I uninstalled all fonts, so there are only system fonts left - no improvement. I also started the admin account without any start elements (pressing "shift" during boot) - no improvement. The processes (all of them) except Illustrator are all at 0%, some can reach 0,7% - only Illustrator itself is at 100,4% for these few seconds. There is no difference between the admin account and the second user account regarding the Activity Monitor.
But the solution must be somewhere in the difeerence between the two accounts - user preferences, application support files, ???
