Firefox will not start until reboot
I am using FF newest version, win 7, etc. I have a very strange problem. Sometimes, once every 2-4 days, my FF will not start when the computer first start. That's when the computer cold boot, I click on FF and nothing happens. I looked in task manager and there is no "firefox.exe" running. If I reboot the machine, now it boots properly. I tried clicking on the shortcut on desktop, in "All Program" or navigate to the location of "firefox.exe" on disk. I have no fancy addon's. Google TB, Download helper, Ad block plus, and Skype addon, noscript, siteadvisor, DNA (bittorrent client for Asus), Chatzilla. Any suggestion on how I can diagnose/fix this problem? tx

Sometimes my Firefox closes and the same thing happens... So I close the process, on the Task Manager (famous ctrl + alt + del on Windows) and start Firefox again. Try it!:D

Firefox will not start, after reboot.
For a few months now Firefox will not start after I reboot my computer. In order to get it to start I click the exe then must go into task manager kill it, click the exe again, kill it again then, from there it will typically start, but sometimes it may take one or two more trys. When clicking the exe firefox will appear in the task manager under processes but will will start with ~7% CPU usage, then quickly drop to zero every time until it does actually open and start. I have ran a full system recovery and started anew after reinstalling mozilla several times failed to fix the problem. I run virus and spyware checks often and come up clean, and also run Chrome as a default browser.

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. I can start Firefox when I have just rebooted. If I close Firefox and come back later and try to restart Firefox, it tries to start but never does. A Control/Alt/Delete shows that it is running, but it does not load the screen. I cannot turn Firefox off or log off from Windows.

firefox version 8, java version 6 update 29. I have already reloaded java software and reinstalled still have the same problem

Run profilemanager and delete old profile - create new profile - click run firefox from profile manager and firefox opens.
Close firefox and try to reopen. Will not open. Follow above procedure again and foerefox opens until closed them will not open.

I had tried starting Firefox in safe-mode before I posted this request, but it did not work. I tried to restore the system to an earlier version, but that made everything worse. Two accounts were unusable and one sort of worked, so I reloaded the operating system and now firefox works, for how long, I don't know. But thanks again for your suggestion.

Firefox will not start at all ... not even profile mananger will start
After an auto overnight reboot initiated by a Windows update (XP 5.1 SP3) Firefox will not start at all ... not even Profile Manager ... all that happens is a few seconds of hourglass on the cursor and then nothing ... this is happening on two different computers at the same time ... identical symptoms ... any advice?

After that every attempt to start Firefox resulted in no response at all. I went to my program list and found Firefox Safe Mode. That started OK. I then closed it. After that Firefox started OK.

Firefox will not start on limited accounts. It reports firefox already running. This happens even if no other users are logged on. Administrator accounts have no problems accessing firefox
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

Just installed Firefox 3.6. Firefox will not start and Firefox safemode does not start either. Using Task manager I do not see if started either. If I create a new profile and start from that window, Firefox starts up. I see no error windows/messages. I do have it listed in my Firewall as an exception program with Permit All. What is happening?

After removing system fonts and reinstalling fonts, FireFox will not start! When I start FireFox the "Mozilla Crash Reporter" opens as if FF just crashed??? I don't see any records in event viewer. I am using FF v3.6.3 on a Windows 7 box. I tried uninstalling 3.6.3 and installing 3.0.18 and had the same problem!

There might be more information from the crash report, but it might just tell us you are crashing the first time Firefox tries to use a font.
One thing I suppose you could do is select only those fonts you've got in Tools -> Options -> Content -> Fonts and Colors -> Advanced and then uncheck the '''Allow pages to use their own fonts''' option.

New versions of Firefox will not start and only bring up the crash reporter. I've tried starting in safe mode, I've deleted/created new Profiles and I've uninstalled/installed Firefox over and over. I can still download 28.0 and it has no problem opening. Below is the latest Crash ID from 35.0

Still the automatic update process bothers me: it took me several days to discover the reason to the malfunction, since when I removed the problematic version from Add and Remove Programs, I didn't pay attention at first that it was another version, not v26 which I installed from my folder.
In addition, I like to save the installation files before I run new programs and if I didn't have v26 exe file, I couldn't have operated Mozilla at all. Not that it was fun to remove and install again each time v27 didn't react, but it was better than nothing, I still prefer Mozilla over its competition. -
Firefox will not ''start'' and open a website from a Thunderbird email link. A link from Thunderbird will open once Firefox is ''already'' started, but will not initially start Firefox and proceed to open the Thunderbird email link.
I also have this problem. I cannot open links from a discussion board I frequent nor can I open links from my email. Also after opening my email, I cannot go to any other sites except my home page. I can then go no where else.
When I close Firefox and try to reopen it, it does nothing! I have to bring up the Task Manager and end the Firefox process before I can get back in.

- uninstalling and reinstalling mozilla with no success.
- End all firefox.exe from the task manager and then open again the firefox from quick launch or desktop or program files folder.
- Change the firefox.exe name to firefox2.exe
- Start in safe mode and choose several alternatives after choice box, but nothing happen.
