Firefox won't open. I followed instructions in help. I closed Firefox via Task Manager, processeRestarted my comp. It still won't work. (as a test I ran Explorer to see if that would work. It does.) What can I do to get Firefox working properly?

These are the help suggestions from Firefox Help that I followed:
Firefox will not start and no error message is shown
Another program may be preventing Firefox from starting. Restart your computer to end all running programs then try starting Firefox again. If Firefox still does not start or if the problem returns, the other suggestions listed below can help you fix the problem.
An extension prevented Firefox from closing properly
Sometimes your previous Firefox session did not close properly and this prevents you from restarting Firefox. Norton IPS, Norton Toolbar, and Skype 4.0 are all known to prevent Firefox from closing properly. Firefox is still running, but no windows are open.
note: TO MY KNOWLEDGE I DON'T HAVE NORTON
1. Right-click on an empty spot in the Windows task bar and select Task Manager (or press Ctrl+Shift+Esc).
Note: On newer versions of Windows (XP, Vista, 7) the combination Ctrl+Alt+Del opens Task Manager as well.

2. When the Windows Task Manager opens, select the Processes tab.

3. Select the entry for firefox.exe (press F on the keyboard to find it) and click End Process.
4. Click Yes in the "Task Manager Warning" dialog that appears.

5. Repeat the above steps to end any additional firefox.exe processes, if more than one entry is found, then exit the Windows Task Manager.
6. Start Firefox normally. NOTE: THIS IS WHAT DOESN'T WORK AFTER CLOSING THE PROCESS IN TASK MANAGER AND RESTARTING THE COMPUTER...THEREFORE I COULDN'T DO THE REST OF THE INSTRUCTIONS
7. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Tools menu, and select Add-ons.
8. Select the Extensions panel.
9. (If it is listed) Select Norton IPS and click Disable.
10. (If it is listed) Select Norton Toolbar and click Disable.
11. (If it is listed) Select Skype 4.0 and click Disable.
12. Click on Restart Firefox.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: BEFORE THIS PROBLEM STARTED TODAY I WAS ON THE WEB LOOKING UP A PHONE NUMBER = THERE WAS SOME WEIRD JAVA ERROR MESSAGE SO i DIDN'T DOWNLOAD THE PAGE AND EXITED. SOMETIME LATER IS WHEN FIREFOX NO LONGER WORKED.

Hi mcclausky, you may need to manually remove a policy setting from the registry. You also should scan for malware that might have created this problem.

    It sounds like you might have accidently copied Chess over from an Intel Mac, or an Intel Mac's installer DVD.  The architecture typically means it is designed uniquely for either Intel or PowerPC.  Be sure to extract Chess from the 10.5 Retail installer disc that looks like * and not any other disk.  http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist lets you extract individual applications from installers without having to reinstall everything.

    If you upgraded and were using a version of Acrobat Reader that was legacy, that is PPC compatible, then you will have to upgrade to a version compatible with Lion as Lion no longer has Rosetta to interface with the legacy software.
    I know that Acrobat, full version, 10 works with Lion...use it myself.

  • I recently install Lion OS on my iMac and just found out that my Canon 4400F scanner won't work with Lion, what can I do to get it working again?

    I am having trouble with some of my previously installed software before installing the New Lion OS. I just found this evening that my Canon 4400F Scanner will no longer work with the new OS. I need to know if there is a solution for this short of buying a new scanner? I am also upset that my Microsoft Office Professional will no longer boot as well. Anyone know why this took place?

    If it will not longer work due to Lion, it's most likely becasuse no drivers for Lion have been released.  No way to get aroud it other than going back to Snow Leopard.  MS Office wont work if it is '04 or earlier becasue it is a PPC application.  Mac switched from PPC to Intel in 2006 and created the Rosetta emulator to allow companies to make their software compatable or allow users to buy new software.  After 5 years, Rosetta support was dropped, with the release of Lion.  No way to get this software to work with Lion.

    Over the past few months firefox has been crashing unexpectedly but just today it crashed and will not reopen even after shutting down and restarting my laptop.     You don't have "Photoshop" proper.  You have a cheapo emasculated version called Photoshop Elements.  That is NOT Photoshop.

    Try a reset: Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

  • I've upgraded to 6.0.1 and now firefox no longer loades AT ALL. I get this XULRunner error: Platform version "5.0" not compatable with minVersion = 6.0.1 and maxVersion = 6.0.1. What can I do to get Firefox working again as my browser?

    After deleting everything, I've also tried to reload 3.6.12 fresh and I get a totally different nss3.dll entry point cannot be found error.

    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

  • The update to OSX Mountain Lion disabled my PS4. Have tried everything on the troubleshooting list, then uninstalled and reinstalled and still getting the same error message 150:30. What can I do to get it working again???

    It has been a while since I have used it so didn't know until I had the error come up. Same with my laptop.

    There is a License Recovery script that uses Terminal.app (just enter that in Spotlight).
    It also helps to do this in a admin account or to have your account with Admin privileges.
    Now go to this link: Error 150:30, Nothing works. Help plz    and carefully follow the instructions in message 5.
    Before you enter your password, the screen should look like the example.

  • Oracle 8.1.7.0-8.1.7.5 Drivers--What Can I do to get them working

    I have spent about 2 weeks attempting to get Oracle/ODBC connectivity from a Win98 Oracle 8.1.* client to a WinNT4-SP6 with Oracle 8i 8.1.0 server with java support. I have connectivity with SQLPlus and when the Administrative client is installed I can connect with the DBA console etc. I cannot get the Net8 assistant or the Net8 Configuration assistant to run either.
    This setup is being used to prototype both a California Dept. of Health services intranet application and State-Federal inspection system. I feel that I am close to functionality but obviously I need the ODBC/OLEDB connectivity to my MS Visual Basic and C++ apps to communicate with the Oracle server.

    I have totally reinstalled the client using the latest universal installer(Version 2.0.1) and things are getting better. I have Client 8.1.7.0.0 and ODBC driver (ver. 8.01.75.00) installed on my WIN98 SE machine now. I can add ODBC source in ODBCAdmin with no problem but when the test button is click I get two message dialogs. The first is titled OCI.DLL and states "one of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found". After clearing this message as second dialog pops up titled "Testing Connection" with this message; "Unable to connect, SQLState = IM004, [Microsoft][ODBC DriveManager] Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL.HANDLE_ENV failed". This error has been consistent through out this problem.
    My second problem persists. When I click the icons for Net8* Assistant or Net8* Config assistant I get a momentary hourglass cursor icon which reverts to the arrow icon. When I enter the Ctrl-ALT-DEL sequence it shows the JREW running. When it is selected and shut down it relays a not responding message. I have also cleaned out the previous Java Runtime environments and Allowed the Universal install engine to just replace one JRE. Thanks for any insight you can give me. Larry Upjohn

    It restored the backup that was made on your computer 6 months ago, which did not contain those photos. You're wasting your time trying to find them on the phone. They don't exist.
    Hopefully, your friend syncs her phone to her own computer on a regular basis. She needs to plug her phone into her computer and restore it from her last backup. That will restore it to the state it was in when the backup was made.
    She also needs to get in the habit of extracting the photos on a regular basis, like she would from any other digital camera.
