Fix for SOLR searches beginning with wildcard?

All, I am having problems finding clear answers on if the above was corrected in ColdFusion 10.
I can't get my head around the idea of SOLR not allowing search criteria to begin with a wildcard. I've seen a solution for reverse wildcard searching, which is great as long as I specify criteria for which I know the ending letters. For example, if I am looking for all entries ending in "ing", I could do a search on "*ing", using the reverse wildcard to find "gni*". I have yet to see, or come up with, a solution for a SOLR search with wildcards in the start and end of the criteria. For example, lets say I am looking for any word with "fus" in the middle, such as "confusing" or "perfusing" or "profusely". I would want to do a search such as "*fus*". From what I understand thus far, this cannot be done in SOLR?

ColdFusion will support whatever Apache solr supports as it is the underlying engine we are using.
And Solr does support it: http://lucene.apache.org/solr/api/org/apache/solr/analysis/ReversedWildcardFilterFactory.h tml
I think this is an egregious hack, but still, it's the way they've chosen to support it.
Solr technically disables support of leading wildcards by default in the traditional query parsers due to concerns about query performance since it tends to select a large percentage of indexed terms.
Be that as it may, this should be my decision, as the maintainer of the index, not your decision to blanketly disallow it. If it's available, then one can use it if one choses, or not use it for the reasons you cite. If you blanketly disallow it, you're removing the ability for me to make that decision.
It's also a bit of a backwards compat issue, innit? Verity allowed leading wildcards.

What model of Mac? I have a MBP running 10.7.3 and do not have that issue. From the other couple of posts I've seen about it, it seems to be maybe an issue with some iMacs? Have your tried searching the Lion or iMac forums for similar issues, just to see if anyone has hit on why it is happening?

We've reached out to the Hotmail team and they've determined that this is a bug in their code. (It was masked by a timing issue in 3.5 that was fixed in 3.6.) We've worked with them to develop a fix but they may not have deployed it yet.

Fix for WebHelp output issues with IE 11 breaks Search function

I use RoboHelp HTML 9 and have been having issues with generated WebHelp in IE 11. The TOC was totally blank and the Search tab looked fine but did not function. Everything worked fine in Firefox. After much experimenting and online research in these forums and elsewhere, I have been able to get the TOC to display properly in IE 11 (and Firefox) but the fix has caused the Search tab to stop functioning as per this other forum post RH9 Webhelp Search function is not working properly.
I need to have BOTH TOC and Search displayed and functioning properly but in order to get the TOC displayed properly I had to change the Preferred Format setting to "Pure HTML" and, according to the post mentioned above, that is what messes up the Search function. Is there a solution that will allow both TOC and Search to function properly?
Here is a summary of the steps I have taken to get to this point:
Tested WebHelp output from two different projects of my own as well as the Salesbuilder starter project - all would display/function properly in Firefox but not in IE 11 (blank TOC and non-functioning Search).
Found a "patch" for RH10 for the exact problem I was having with RH9 but was not able to find a version for RH9. Since the patch included 2 files (whutils.js and whver.js) only, I backed up these files in the RoboHTML\WebHelp5Ext\template_stock directory and replaced them with the new ones.
Regenerated one of my RoboHelp projects - still didn't work in IE 11 and now didn't work in Firefox either!
Tried turning on Mark of the Web but this did not help and would not allow opening PDF's which is necessary to one of the projects so I turned it off again.
Changed Preferred Format setting to "Pure HTML" instead of "DHTML" and the TOC displayed and functioned properly in IE 11 and Firefox! Hurray!!
Celebrated for 10 seconds until I clicked on Search tab and saw the input box filled with letters of the alphabet with other random letters, words, numbers below. It looks almost like an index but neither of my projects uses an index and I have not generated one in either project.
Found the post mentioned above which states that the solution is to change the Preferred Format setting back to DHTML but when I do that I am back to blank TOC and proper-looking but non-functioning Search!!!
I have now removed the Search tab from the output of one of the projects since it is not really necessary but I need to find a fix for this for my other project.
Both of my projects are run locally - one is release documentation that is distributed on a CD and the other is CSH which is loaded on the local server with the software for which it was created.

The "preliminary" fix provided has worked perfectly! All versions of my WebHelp project now display TOC properly and I was able to change the Preferred Format setting back to DHTML so the Search tab both displays and functions as it should. I am very grateful to William for providing this fix which works in both IE 11 and Firefox. Someday I will pursue the fixes to make it work in Chrome as well.

Search&Replace with wildcard?

I always use search and replace with Homesite but I wonder if
there is a way of using a wildcard? I often want to replace text at
the beginning and end of variable text. I mean, if I have this:

<h3>Second text here</h3>
What I'd like is, using the * as a wildcard, is to use
something like this:
Replace <h3>*</h3> with <h2>*</h2>

you can use the extended search/replace with regular
expressions to do this.
So for example. Bring up the Extended Replace (Ctrl + Shift +
R)
And in the Find box, put:
<h2>(.*)</h2>
in the Replace with box, put:
<h3>\1</h3>
note: \1 is the first match returned by the regular
expression

Fix for the Identity change with Siri

After trying all different ways to sync my phone and my wife's Iphone through the cloud sharing contacts and calenders, I think I have the fix for the identity change that Siri does. I turned off the contact sync on iCloud and it stopped swapping identities. I think that sharing contacts makes the iCloud think there is only one user. Downside of the cloud but not worth the hassle factor. I will sync contacts through iTunes.

I was trying to come up with a formula for counting club members and partners by using an "&" in front of the first name of partners. I could not find a conditional function whereby I could count the names that begin with the "&". I used trial and error with various count functions on strings with if thens, etc. I either end up with syntax errors or a null. Not that important but I like solving puzzles and may find a use for the concept with other strings in the future. Bottom line is: I would like to pick out a unique character at the beginning of different strings and count it (numerically) if is there (true).

Here's an alternative that is similar to Jerry's, but allows placing the ampersand in a more logical location in the Name column entries. The yellow-filled column (Flag) may be hidden.
Column B: Entered data (names), with an ampersand used to join names of partners where applicable.
Column C (Flag) contains a formula that places a null string in rows where there is no entry in the column B (Name), zero in rows where the names entry does not contain an ampersand, and a number larger than zero corresponding to the position of the ampersand in rows where the Names entry has one.
C2, and filled down: =IF(LEN(B)>0,IFERROR(FIND("&",B),0),"")
Cells D2 and E2 contain similar formulas to count the two-name (partner) entries and the single name entries, using the flags set in column C.
D2: =COUNTIF(C,">0")
E2: =COUNTIF(C,"=0")

Official news on a fix for those of us with issues with ios4 and 3g?

Hello all I'm new here on the forums waves
I have recently upgraded to iOS4 on my 3g and am one of the unfortunate to experience a downgrade in performance and major increase in heat(very concerned about the heat issue).
I have noticed a lot of people around different forums venting about this issue which is very understandable but...What I want to know is, does anyone know or have any official info on weather apple are releasing a fix for these problems? I know that the 3G is now been discontinued but surely they need to do something about this?

I really hope they care, I am thinking of getting me a Mac but if they are like this with "old product"...I mean I know it’s a very old product and they are concentrating on newer products, but I for one can't upgrade for the foreseeable future and I’m sure many other are in the same boat it would be nice to know they still care about keeping us out dated owners happy just for a little longer until we can all upgrade! =(

Possible fix for some dlink routers with wifi issues

I found something online that stated that if you turn off a feature called WMM that it can help or fix some wifi issues, and on my dlink dir-268 it seems to be working. Now without this feature turned off I could connect to my wifi but not much else, with it off I have checked websites online and also for the first time been able to download a 300MB+ file. I dont know if it is still used on the newer dlink routers but it could be at least a temp fix for some. For my router it is located under the advanced/ advanced wireless settings
Please post your results if you find this feature on your router, and list what model you have and if it worked so if it fixes problems for enough people mabe we can let dlink know of this find. could help in getting a fix out for the router firm ware or mabe even the android os.

Wouldn't really be a fix... more a workaround. However...
Both my Plus account, and a free test account I set up, don't have reliable push... so I think the problem is a little more complex than this.
While there has been a theory that free accounts work (which I have not experienced), I don't think Apple or Yahoo have ever stated that push was only intended to work for free accounts...

Fix for music playback problems with new iTunes (11.1)?

When playing music from my library using the latest iTunes update (11.1), the audio will pause every so often, maybe every 2-3 minutes, for just a couple of seconds - I tried to reinstall and the same problem occurs. Is there a fix for this? I am running OS X 10.6.8 on an iMac.

For checking individual font files (fonts are like mini apps really), we recommend either FontExplorer XPro or Extensis Suitcase Fusion 4, with the later perhaps the more popular of the two.
Deleting your InDesign preferences can also fix some odd issues. To delete the InDesign Preferences hold down shift+option+command+control on Mac or shift+ctrl+alt on WIndows while starting up InDesign.

SOA 11g Bundled EM - search instances with wildcard?

My apologies if this isn't the right place for this post... it's on a bit of a grey line between SOA and EM.
Anyway, in the EM that comes bundled with SOA Suite 11g, under:Farm > SOA > soa-infra > [partition name] > [composite name] > Instances (tab) the user can search the audit trail entries for instance details that are still in the database.
My question is, if I am searching by Name (which is a field that can be set by calling setInstanceTitle() in a Mediator/BPEL object), is it possible to do that search with a wildcard?
I've tried: myquery% and myquery* but neither give the expected results (all instances with a Name that starts with "myquery").

A fix for a HP C3180 with 10.5.1

Hello, add me to the list of those who lost a printer. I cannot find a fix. I have Leopard, a HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One, and lost connection in the middle of a printing job. Mistakenly, I used the uninstaller, tried to re-install and the software will not complete. It claims to install, yet spins loudly and I never get the "Set Up Assiststant." I also tried downloading the software from the HP help site, to no avail. The odd thing is, it worked with Leopard initially, it wasn't until I went to iWork `08 that the printing issues began. My printer/copier works, it will scan and copy, just not install. I've been searching for a fix all over and post as a last resort. I don't need a new printer, nor can I afford it, I just purchased Leopard and iWork. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

When did you download the HP software and what version is it?
I generally run Tiger, but have been trying to install new HP scanning software for my C3180 printer onto a Leopard partition I've been experimenting with. I found that an early beta version, HPInstaller_PSC3100v9.7b.dmg, seemed to worked OK but the HP "final" version, "HPInstaller_PS3100v9.7.dmg" did not. it could not see my printer and failed at the end.
However HP just posted a new version, v9.7.1 a few days ago, and this version does work in my system. I uninstalled the older versions before trying it. You can get it from their website, or download it directly at

We're facing some critical problems with our new MacPros, CC, and the Firepro D700's. It appears that after we upgraded to 10.9.3 the D700's no longer work with Creative Cloud. Our Premiere renders are full of artifacts, lines, and drop out. Same issue as documented in RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders Can you advise as to when the fix will be pushed? We have turned to "software only" render, which is killing us for time. We have a huge amount of work that goes through 4 edit bays and its putting us days behind.
