Fixed Asset failed to do a capitalization credit memo

Hi All
financial period April - Mar
I have this fixed asset capitalized on 1 May 2014, from A/P invoice at the price of 14,649.37. I have done the depreciation run for May-Jul (period 2 - 4). Now I want to do a capitalization credit memo on 1 Aug 2014 and noticed that it prompted me error even though I have just put $1. Then I tried to do an asset revaluation, realized that the NBV is negative now. I believe this is the reason why the cn is disallowed, but I have no idea why it has fallen to negative value. Please kindly advise.
At first I thought the quantity matters, because I didnt put "Consider quantity" in the AP invoice, so the capitalization which was created automatically has zero quantity. But later on I realized that I have other asset which has also zero quantity and has done depreciation before, yet managed to do a credit memo.
In the asset class, I set to SL1, but in the fix asset master, i changed to SL. I dont this is the cause of the error.
The (1627.76) is derived from the depreciation, 406.94 * 4 months (May, Jun, Jul, Aug) even though the depreciation for august has not been done yet.

  • Fixed Assets Add-On: Depreciation Calculation After Credit Memo

In the beginning of the year, I have a fixed asset as follow:
    Cost $16,128,667.00
    NBV $14,515,800.35
Planned Useful Life for this asset is 120 months.
In July this year, created a Fixed Asset Credit Memo for this asset at $1,110,942.92.
Originally, before the credit memo, the planned depreciation is $134,405.53 per month which is correct.
After the credit memo, it recalculates the planned depreciation to $124,119.04 per month. How did the system arrive at this figure?
    Depreciation method:
    Straight line
    Full Year

    Hi,
Based on NBV $14,515,800.35, minus Credit Memo $1,110,942.92, you got $13,404,856.43. The useful life is 108 based on NBV. So you get new planned depreciation to $124,119.04 per month.
    Thanks,

  • Credit memo for subsequent acquisitions in Fixed Assets

According to the Fixed Asset help file - section Credit memo for Subsequent Acquisitions it Says " Fixed Assets *DOES NOT* allow posting a credit memo for a subsequent acquistion.  What are the exactt circumstances in which Fixed Assets will block these credit memos. I have added subsequent Acquisitions and Fixed Assets appears to allow credit memo's where depreaction has not been run and also where depreciation has  not been run. How does this blocking mechanism work?

    Hi John
It appears that there is no good answer to your question.  From my undertstanding, the SAP Fixed Assets add-on is a very basic solution, and does not anticipate many of the changes that can occur once an Asset is acquired.  Frankly, it is pretty basic when handling the initial acquisition.
Not that this will help you with this particular install, but the Fixed Assets add-on from B1 Fixed Assets LLC does a very thorough job of creating Assets, where you can use any or all of Invoices, Credit Memos, and Journal Entries, mixing and matching to create the Asset.  Once the Asset has be added, making Cost Adjustments is almost as thorough, and provides considerably more options to recognize the Cost Adjustment.  You can see a viedo of a relatively simple Asset Acquisition on YouTube (www.youtube.com/b1fixedassets).
Let me know how you get this issue resolved - I am very interested.

  • Import Fixed Asset on Previous Year

    Hi experts,
I would like to know, is it possible to upload fixed asset on previous year as fiscal year. For example I want to upload asset per June 2010 as beginning period, I tried several ways to upload but I couldn't find the right one.
I tried to upload fixed asset data with depreciation start / capitalization date before Jan 2010 and succeed
    eg.
    Asset: Printer
    Acquisition date: 01 Feb 2009
Depreciation start date: 01 Feb 2009
    APC value: 22000000
    Useful Life: 36
    Remaining Life: 25
    Ordinary Depr: 8066667
But it didn't work out with the depreciation start / capitalization date on Jan - Jun 2010
    eg.
    Asset: Printer
    Acquisition date: 01 March 2010
Depreciation start date: 01 March 2010
    APC value: 2100000
    Useful Life: 36
    Remaining Life: 36
    Ordinary Depr: 0
Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks

Yes, I did. It said "We recommend you to import fixed asset master in the past years. If you insist on importing an asset for the current fiscal year, make sure the depreciation start date is the first date of current fiscal year and the Remaining Life is the same as the Useful Life." This case is different, the company wants to upload asset as per June 2010 as its beginning balance =) Thx for your reply Julie

    Hi octavio,
    Thanks for your valuable input.
You are right and also I found from metalink...
Subject: 11.5-AR-How Can You Enter Payment Terms For Credit Memos
    Doc ID: 249547.1 Type: HOWTO
    Modified Date: 16-DEC-2003 Status: PUBLISHED
goal: How can you enter payment terms for Credit memos
    fact: Oracle Receivables 11.5
    fix:
Payment terms cannot be used in Credit memos. This is standard functionality.
The trx_date/gl_date of the credit memo transaction is the date which is
considered as the due date of the credit memos. This is the current
    functionality.

  • Duplication of document numbers for Credit Memo, Inventory Transfer, etc.

    Hi folks!
    Good Day!
We have noticed that there are credit memo numbers, inventory transfer numbers etc. that were duplicated in two different transaction in two different dates. Can you give a theory or possible reasons why this one happened? Let's refer to the credit memo first. I have searched these two credit memo in the database and I only found 1 of them... I used their names, details, codes and other info to locate the other CM but I failed.
    SCENARIO:
A/R CREDIT MEMO NUMBER follows a pattern of  (COMPANY NAME)-(CREDIT MEMO NUMBER)-(BRANCH)
I have created a credit memo last April 12, 2011 with the document number (ABCD-20050002-MNL) generated by the system.
with one item (BLUE TILE) and addressed to John Scott.
We found out that another credit memo dated April 29, 2011 having  the same document number (ABCD-20050002-MNL) making it a duplicate of the first one. This second transaction has one item also (BLACK PAINT) and was addressed to Olivia Dunham.
We found this when they are already printed or in hard copies. I just want to ask for your opinions, theory or suggestion with regard to this situation. Is there a possibility where it was duplicated while in the printing process?
Looking forward to hear from you....
    Thanks!
    =)

    Hi Kambadasan,
    Thanks.
I already checked the relationship and linking of number from the document to the layout printing and everything seems to be ok.
It follows and copy's the exact numbers.
    Thanks again

  • Fixed Asset - A/P Credit memo

    Hi All,
Is any body knows how to raise A/P Credit Memo for an item defined as fixed asset?
What are the things we need to take care of before raising the A/P credit memo for fixed asset item?
    thanks
    SV Reddy

    Hi Yogi,
The scenario is like this.  I have accidentally added a fixed asset into the system, for that an A/R Invoice is already raised in the B1 system.  for that I like to raise a contra which is A/P Credit memo.   so that will reverse the transaction.
    please reply
    thanks

  • Credit Note in Fixed Assets add-on

    Hi experts,
I really do not understand how Credit Note is working in this add-on.
    Depreciation(accounting impact):
    Dr                                                                                Cr
    510000 - Depreciation (Personal Computers)        110000 - Personal Computers
So, for my Credit Note is a little bit differen(I am using Credit Note without Vendort:
I want the Credit Note to perform as following:
    Dr                                                                         Cr
    110000 - Personal Computers             510000 - Depreciation (Personal Computers)
My G/L setting in Fixed Assers add-on:
Balance Sheet of Asset Acc. Cost - 110000
Clearing - (for this account,  I have tried placing 110000 and 510000)
    Ordinary Depreciation Acc. - 510000
    But, it does not work.
    Please advice on that.

    Hi Gordon,
I thought this account was for Credit Note purposes but it wasn't.
So, for 1st scenario I tried putting 110000 and then I made a Credit Note without Vendor thought of debiting back depreciated amount into my fixed asset account and crediting the depreciated amount in my depreciation account. The result was unfavorable, it worked out the same way as I did for depreciating my assets:
    Dr                                                                    Cr
    510000 - Depreciation Account                     110000 - Fixed Assets Account
In fact, for 2nd scenario I tried replacing 110000 in Clearing Account with 510000 thought of achieving my goal below:
    Dr                                                                    Cr
    110000 - Fixed Assets Account                     510000 - Depreciation Account
But the outcome was same exactly as 1st scenario.
How can I produce the goal in 2nd scenario, please advice.
    Thank you.

  • Credit memo for Fixed Asset

    Hi Experts,
My company has purchased a fixed asset and found the item is spoil. It will be returned to vendor and receive credit memo from them. But I found the credit memo in SAP there is no column to let me key in my asset tagged number and it credits to my SUPPLY and MATERIAL account which should credit to my Fixed Asset account. Please advise what is probably way to key in credit memo?

    Hi,
Acording to me you can reverse the MIGO Document or you can reverse the Asset Document through T-Code AB08 and then the entry will be reversed. Else youo can crerate a return PO and then do MIGO of Return PO by that once you execute MIGO then the entry would be reversed and hence the effect would be nullified. Kindly check the above solutions and revert.

  • Unable to capitalize the AUC from project to Fixed Asset

    Dear Experts,
I created AUC automatically from WBS and i have settled that WBS with CJ88. But when i try to capitalize it to Fixed asset via AIBU, i am unable to do it. The system throws the error message as
Line item settlement is not possible for asset MY02 36 0
    Message no. AW050
    Diagnosis
You want to carry out line item settlement of an asset under construction. This transaction can only be carried out for assets with active line item management.
However, line item settlement is not active in the asset class of asset 36 0 (company code MY02).
If the asset is an asset under construction belonging to an investment measure, then you should carry out the settlement using order or project settlement.
    Procedure
Check the setting for 'status of AuC' in the definition of the asset class.
Currently asset class settings was investment measure in "status of AUC". I choose this because i want to create a AUC automatically from WBS. If i choose line item settlement in asset class, then i can't assign that asset class to investment profile which inturn i am unable to create AUC automatically from WBS.
Please help me sort out this issue asap.
    Regards
    Vetri

    Dear Vetri,
The reason for this error is most of the time that the field ANLA-XOPVW for this asset is not flagged. Please check this in table ANLA.
    OR
In T.code OAOA check your AuC Asset Class whether your asset class is selected Line Item Settlement. If you have selected Line Item settlement after creating an asset and posting has been alsready done for the asset it won't help you.
The Line Item Settlement indicator should be active when the Asset Master is created and the postings are made to it. If this is the case, reverse the postings made to this asset - Create a New AUC - Make the postings Again - Then try AIAB.
I hope this will clear your conecpt and will help you to solve your issue.
If you have any doubts feel free to share.

  • Fixed assets depreciation run fails when profit center not belong to Dim 1

    Hi all,
    I face the below issue:
    - Fixed assets depreciation run summarized by distribution rule fails with error when profit center does not belong to Dimension 1.
I have search teh SAP notes and found the same issue. It says:
-> SAP Business One Fixed Assets Add-on only supports cost accounting for Dimension 1
Anyone knows whether 8.8 PL 13 also same issue?
Does SAP planned to rectify this?
    Thanks.

    Dear Wei Lan, Veron Liu
As described in the note 1371619 this is a limitation/definition of the current product version:
No other note has been published so far on this subject, so what it is said on that note, it remains valid in 8.8
In order to push for a change in product definition we recomend to post this request in

  • FIXED ASSET ERROR

I am using SBO8.81PL6. I am importing fixed asset master data and observing some strange behavior. When uploading fully depreciated assets, all assets are imported successfully but with the same capitalization and Depreciation start date of 30/11/99. This date is wrong. My template has different capitalization and Depreciation start dates for the different items and none of the date is 30/11/99. Import of assets that are not fully depreciated fails.
I have gone through the following link and all appear well done.http://How to import Fixed Asset Master File

  • Vendor Credit Memo posting to Asset when invoice did not

    Hi Experts,
We are on SAP 604 and have the following scenario.
PO to purchase an asset at $10,000.  (not an inventory item).
Goods receipt has NOT been done.
1st invoice comes in but is only for half of the asset.  (.5 qty at $5,000)  does not post to asset since there is no GR done.
    Postings:
    Debit 201010 $5000
    Credit 201015 $5000
2nd invoice is data entered wrong.  It is for the remaing half but Acts Pyble enters quanty of 1 instead of .5.
    Debit 201010 $5000
    Credit 201015 $5000
When reversing the second invoice (or even just entering a credit memo), instead of the posting doing a simple reversal of hte invoice like this :
    Debit 201010 $5000
    Credit 201015 $5000
SAP posts to the asset even though there has yet to be any other postings done to the asset (no GRs and no invoices have posted to the asset).  Credit Memo posts like this:
    Credit 201010 $5000
    Debit 201015 $6666.67
    Credit Asset: $1666.67
Please confirm whether you see this posting as an issue for the asset.  I have posted an OSS message to SAP and they are saying the system is working as designed unless I gather enough business requirements to do a development request.  I'm trying to see if this posting is just an issue for my organization.  Typically we would not expect a Credit Memo to capitalize the Asset.  - Or if you know of a fix, please let me know.
    Thanks!
    Cindy

If you do not want negative posting/ balances in your asset, you can configure the depreciation areas to allow positive values only. That way if balance is negative (as in your example), posting is not allowed.
