Fixed number of rows in ADF table

Can we specify fixed number of rows for ADF table so even no rows displayed it will still show 10 empty rows.

the rangesize property determines how many rows will be displayed and controls paging. If there are no rows to begin with (if I understand the question correctly) rangesize won't have any effect.

  • How to show  a fixed number of rows in JTable

    Hi,
    I have to show only a fixed number of rows in the table .
    After scrolling number of rows must not be changed.

    I don't understand the question.
    The number of visible rows is dependent on the size of the scroll pane.
    Scrolling does not change the number of rows that are visible.

    there is a table, where i need to diplay a message when there are no records and no rows should be visible on that table.
    Also, when the records are populated from the context, i need to fix the number of rows in that table and display the records.
    Please let me know hw this can be achieved.
    Also in the table I have Link to URL, please let me know how to handle this reference, when i set the reference Property, its giving me an error stating that the file doesn't exist when the table gets loaded.

    Hi
    Oh!!  You should to  explain it at first thread itself that you want to display a JPG imange or other WDWebResourceTypetaken form the backend.
    1. So this is not at all a URL
    2. You have to convert binary data to WDWebResource then display it in either Image UI element or other (like PDF , txt etc)
    3
    try
                   //        Read the datasource of the FileUpload
                   IWDResource res = wdContext.currentContextElement().getResource();
                   InputStream in = res.read(false);
                   ByteArrayOutputStream bOut = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
                   int length;
                   byte[] part = new byte[10 * 1024];
                   while ((length = in.read(part)) != -1)
                        bOut.write(part, 0, length);
                   in.close();
                   bOut.close();
                   IPrivateUploadCompView.IImageTableElement ele = wdContext.nodeImageTable().createImageTableElement();
                   ele.setImage(wdContext.currentContextElement().getResource().getUrl(0));
                   ele.setText(res.getResourceName());
                   wdContext.nodeImageTable().addElement(ele);
              catch (Exception e)
                   wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportWarning(e.toString());
    Here I assume that you convert that data to IWDResource type or
    4.
    WDWebResource.getWebResource(wdContext.currentContextElement().getresource(), type);
    // getResource of type binary which u read from BAPI and set it in local context , type is MIMETYPE or hardcode it as "JPG"

  • How to display a fixed number of rows in a page when using CL_GUI_ALV_GRID

    Hy experts
    How to display a fixed number of rows in a page when using CL_GUI_ALV_GRID?? lets say 500 ?? because my display table it may contain in some cases 10.000 and evidently I can t see all of them..
    I have a button in my toolbar witch triggers this event
    (display 500 records ) but I don t have the logic to do this only with methods of CL_GUI_ALV_GRID.
    can you tell me a standard method of CL_GUI_ALV_GRID witch can help me do this?? any hint will be good..
    Till now I was used to add a column to my structure witch represents a flag that is a number corresponding to every 500 records (a batch containing 500 records )
    first       500 - flag -> 1
    second  500 - flag -> 2
    etc..but I m convinced that exists a way of doing this more easy..without damaging my structure..
    thanx in advance..don t be shy..reply if you have any hints..

    Hi,
    if method SET_FILTER_CRITERIA doesn´t help, I think that you must work with 2 internal tables, a counter and a loop for filtering the records to be displayed:
    case counter.
      when 1.
         loop at int_table1 from 1 to 500.      "<-- your table with all records
           move int_table1 to int_table2
        endloop.
      when 2.
         loop at int_table1 from 501 to 1000.
           move int_table1 to int_table2
        endloop.
    etc, etc.
    Call grid-->SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY
       exporting
         IT_OUTTAB = int_table2                "<-- instead of your currently table int_table1

    Ok, that only was to show simply that max option
    might not an option to reduce execution time.Yes, but I/O variances have a tendency to really skew the observed elapsed execution time - making execution time alone a poor choice to determine what SQL will perform better than another.
    Both MAX(ROWNUM) and COUNT(*) results in the same amount of I/O - as both uses the exact same execution plan, I/O wise. In this example, a FTS.
    SQL> create table testtab nologging as select * from all_objects where rownum < 10001;
    Table created.
    -- warmed up the buffer cache with a couple of SELECTs against TESTAB in order
    -- to discard PIOs from the results
    SQL> set autotrace on
    SQL> select count(*) from testtab;
    COUNT(*)
    10000
    Execution Plan
    Plan hash value: 2656308840
    | Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Cost (%CPU)| Time |
    | 0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 1 | 35 (9)| 00:00:01 |

    This shows that what makes the MAX() more expensive is just that - determining the MAX(). For each row, Oracle has to call its internal MAX() function with two values - the current max result and the new value. This function then returns the new max value. This overhead per row adds up to a significant overhead in execution time - making the MAX() approach 5x slower than the COUNT() approach.

  • Create spreadsheet file with a fixed number of rows

    What is the most straight forward way to create a series of spreadsheet files each with a new file name and fixed number of rows.  We have a data acquisition process that creates a new 1D array every 2 seconds.  We'd like to build a series of spreadsheet files each having two hours or 3600 rows of data.  Is there a best way to do this in LV9?
    john

    Use the low-level FileI/O Vis with Write to Text File.vi where you open a new file with every N iteration like this:
    You just have to convert your 1D Array to string before.
    If you would like to have a new file every N hours you should create a FGV which checks the elapsed time using Get Date/Time in Seconds.vi, which is more appropriate for longtime applications.

  • Focusing a field/column in the new row of adf table

    Hi all,
         I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.4.0. and UI-Shell Template in Main application and sub applications are added to this master application as ADF library jar files. Application is working fine.
    I am trying to focus to make focus on a column in the newly created row in one of the sub application by referring the below link
    http://adfnbpel.wordpress.com/2013/08/14/focusing-a-fieldcolumn-in-the-new-row-of-adf-table/
    I created a single application and found that its working
    But in my application focus is not working.
    When i checked the java script by using FireBug console it is found that comp = AdfPage.PAGE.findComponent(‘”+inputId+”‘); is getting as "undefined" , where inputId = table.getClientId(facesCtx) + “:” + rowId + “:” + “it3″; I am getting the exact row id also. When i tried with by passing the table id as input id like inputId = table.getClientId(facesCtx) ; the fire bug console then showing the table id. So its sound strange.
    What may be the cause of not able to find the input text it3 by using findComponent ?
    Is any body can suggest a solution for this.
    Thanks in advance,

    How can I retrieve the number of rows in Internal Table?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    bw_newbie

    You can define the number of rows of the internal table using the DESCRIBE itab command .
    As the rest have already stated a sample code snippet .
    For more info type in DESCRIBE in your prgram and click on (F1) by placing the cursor on DESCRIBE .
    You will find more options as to how you can use the DESCRIBE command according to your requirement .

  • Add row in ADF table

    I'm trying to add a new row to ADF table. Here are my steps:
    1. Create new entities from tables (New -> EJB -> Entities from Tables)
    2. Create Session Bean (New -> EJB -> Session Bean) with all requested methods for earlier created entity
    3. Create Data Control out of it (right click on session bean -> Create Data Control) - it creates "testFindAll"
    4. After these steps, I drag&drop my "testFindAll" from data controls to form and create table
    5. Now, I drag&drop operation Create from my "testFindAll -> Operations", create button and change action from Create to CreateInsert
    And now, the troubles : ((.. When I click button to add new row I get null pointer exception. Here is part of trace:

    Hi Goran,
    What is your JDev version? Are you trying with EJB 3.0 or 2.1? I just tried (with 3.0) and it is working fine (tested in JDev 11.1.1.2.0).
    Here is my pagedef
    <action IterBinding="deptFindAllIterator" id="Create"
                RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="createRow"/>Infact, i don't have to change the Create action to CreateInsert. By default it was CreateInsert only.

    Thanks a lot for your quick response!
    We are using Jdev 11g. After received your response, i went through all of your responses in ADF coner and OTN for the related topics (setting detail row) and got some ideas(Specially, i got your detail coding for moving makeCurrent expression into selection listener method into backing bean, etc ) and was ready for coding this function. But our PM changed their mind and we dont need this function. So, I had to move to another area......
    Your articles and your responses really help me!

  • What is the maximum number of row for a table control in LabWindows/CVI ?

    I use LabWindows CVI 8.5.1 (MMI first developped in version 6.0).
    In one of our many MMI, a table control contains a list of aircraft parameters.
    We can add as many parameters (row) as we want but over 40 000 we observe a crash of the LabWindows CVI runtime.
    Our client want to inscrease the number of parameters (row) up to 200 000 !!!
    So my questions are:
    What is the real maximum number of row for the table control ?
    Is this maximum number of row different on LabWindows 2010 version ?
    Or is there an other solution ?
    Thanks

    Greetings,
    Can you clarify what you mean by "crash"? Is there an error message thrown? Is it possible that you've consumed all of the available memory?
    Please let me know.

  • Maximum Number of Columns that adf table can support in JDeveloper 10.1.3.1

    Hi All,
    I'm using Toplink 10.1.3.1 . In JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 .
    I'm Trying to display the columns of a table which is having the more than 380 columns.
    When I'm trying to display the columns in adf table, it is getting hanged. The console of the displaying that "too long".
    If Execute the Application with nearly 50 columns, It is working fine.
    what is the Maximum number of columns that adf table can support. Is there any other solution for my problem.
    could anyone help me out.
    Thanks in advance,
    regards,
    Satish

    Hi,
    I am not sure there exist a limitation in columns and if the application hangs then this probably is a bug either in the business service or the view (which can also be due to that the server runs out of memory because of the created object instances).
    However, in my opinion a table with 380 columns is a loud cry for denormalization

  • How to retrieve number of rows of a table by jdbc?

    can anyone show me a simple snippet of a java code about how to retrieve the number of ROWS in a table?
    or even only showing the jdbc command that does this job would be enough.
    thanks in advance :)
    cheers

    1. query for the count, then execute the query
    "select count(*) from test" then
    "select * from test"
    2. create a scrollable ResultSet then
    rs.last();
    int count = rs.getRow();
    rs.beforeFirst();

  • How to limit no of rows in ADF table

    Hi all,
    i want to limit the number of rows displayed in ADf table. I tried using range size, but it didn't work. In the post
    Limiting ADF table number of rows is not working
    it was stated that it is a bug. Is it fixed now or is there any work around to fix this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nad

    Hi Nad..
    Hope this would help you..
    Suppose you have these..
    Jspx Page - RangeTable.jspx
    Backing Class - RangeTable.java
    Iterator used to load Table in page definition - ViewObjTableData
    First of all In your pagedefinition page change the RangeSize value to -1 to display all rows in your table like
    <iterator id="ViewObjTableDataIterator" RangeSize="-1"
                  Binds="ViewObjTableData" DataControl="AppModuleDataControl"/>Now Goto your Backing bean and there put the setter getter method to limit your Table to show data as you want.. Like..
    public static int rangeSize = 10;
        public void setRangeSize(int rangeSize) {
            this.rangeSize = rangeSize;
            AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(table1);
        public int getRangeSize() {
            return rangeSize;
        }Line having this is your default no of rows which you will get on table load..
    public static int rangeSize = 10;and
    this will forcely refresh your table according to your choise
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(table1);Now come to Your Jspx page and
    Add af:selectOneChoice to Action facet of your table and add some selectItem having value of *10*,*20*, and *30* According to your choise
    <af:selectOneChoice label="Row Limit" autoSubmit="true"
                                          binding="#{backing_RangeTable.selectOneChoice1}"
                                          id="selectOneChoice1"
                                          value="#{backing_RangeTable.rangeSize}">
               <af:selectItem label="10" value="10"
                                       binding="#{backing_RangeTable.selectItem1}"
                                       id="selectItem1"/>
               <af:selectItem label="20" value="20"
                                       binding="#{backing_RangeTable.selectItem2}"
                                       id="selectItem2"/>
               <af:selectItem label="30" value="30"
                                       binding="#{backing_RangeTable.selectItem3}"
                                       id="selectItem3"/>
    </af:selectOneChoice>set its autoSubmit property to true and bind the value property to the rangeSize of your backing beans
    now in your table change binding property of Rows to your backingbean's rangeSize like
    rows="#{backing_RangeTable.rangeSize}"and also set this
    partialTriggers="selectOneChoice1"That all dear..
    Now check it out and let me know that you got your solution or not?
    and if you got your right answer then dont forget to put \[SOLVED\] tag with your subject line. and mark this answer as correct and helpful.. :-)
    Thanks,
