Fixed search engine

Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 on Mac OS X 10.4.9 does not allow to search for and ONLY for particular character/s or words. For inStance, searching for "and" (no quotes) finds any word containing "and" (no quotes) inside.
Besides, it is not possible to search for strings or sentences using quotes.
Finally, there is no way to perform searches ONLY for words containing non-ASCII characters like accented characters. All words with or without such accent are found as hits. The same with other non-ASCII characters.

to do this u have to iterate over ur result (collection or list what ever..) in ur bean. u need also an index that give the witch site number r shown ,so u can get next and previous site (with some math. ) ...for example:

I am only a fellow ordinary user of Firefox & XP, but maybe the problem is on your machine, rather than needing a fix from firefox. If you take a little time to read this you may be able to sort out the problems yourself.
I hope you do not mind me covering a few basics:

*the [[Location bar search|Location Bar]] is a lot more specific and may be [[Location bar autocomplete#w_controlling-behavior|set]] to include or exclude History & or [[bookmarks]]
If you are getting literally 1000s of totally unrelated results you may need to consider [[Is my Firefox problem a result of malware]]

How do I set Google as the default search engine in Firefox 5? I have tried several fixes but I keep getting a Yahoo search instead of Google.

I want to use Google as my search engine but no matter what settings I change the default search engine is always Yahoo.
Also I would like to have the feature back where when I open a new tab it shows frequently used pages that I can click on and open.

Certain websites i.e.google, yahoo, or other search engines are not found in my server. Why? They were last week. I can only access different countries' google search engines. Error 404 comes up repeatedly. Can anyone explain how to fix this?

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs. 
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database.

If you want to restore the previously used standalone window to manage search engines then you can toggle this pref to false with a middle-click on the about:config page.

You can use http://www.google.com/ncr to prevent Google from redirecting you to a local Google website.

Everytime I go to a search engine like Bing or Google and click on the link to a website, it sends me to the wrong page. I don't have this problem with Internet Explorer, so what can I do as far as fixing the problem on Firefox?

Did you know webwebweb prevents the "Manage search engines" dialogue from saving if you delete it as a search engine ? How to fix this ?

webwebweb installs as part of the (now defunct ?) videodownloader professional. It seems to also take over the search engine options in Firefox. I cannot delete it from the list.

if you paid for videodownloader (professional) then you have in your profile a [http://kb.mozillazine.org/User.js_file User.js] file. The user.js file does not exist by default. If you create the file, forget it, if you have not created then try to delete the User.js file, to see if the problem goes away (it happens some programs to create the file).

I tried to use Duck Duck Go as my default search engine for Firefox. I had google set as my default search engine. How do I fix it. Cant use about:config.

Duck Duck go won't even let me access About:config. It's like I am locked into Duck Duck go. I checked my add on manager and found nothing about Duck Duck Go there. I ran a scan on Malwarebytes Pro for any kind of virus and found nothing. I really want google as my default search engine. So far I managed to get Firefox as my main search engine. What do you mean that it won't let you access the about:config page?
Can't you open the about:config page via the location bar or can't you modify prefs?
You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
