Fixed storage

why do we mark the allow negative stock in this storage type ???
when the stock is not there in the fixed bin system should give some message ???
although empty bin  were avilable in fixed storage type and still sytem has posted the quant in the bin of sotrage type 001 (in case fixed  bin mentioend in material master   has reached its maximum  capacity)

Rahul
We mark the negative stock because sometimes we may want to allow the st type to go negative, For instance if you receive in WM against an Inbound delivery and you want to put the stock away in the warehouse BEFORE you post the GR to IM then when youncreate the TO for put away the stock has to come from somewhere and that somewhere in this case is 902, However there will be no stock in 902 and so it goes negative. When you subsequently 'post goods receipt' against the inbound delivery when all the stock is located and the TO's confirmed then IM will receive the stock and post it back to 902 in the warehouse and that will get rid of the negative.
I hope that this explains the possible use of negative stocks.
The difference between fixed bins and next empty bin is a lot.
Next empty bin will just find the next empty bin in the warehouse and put the stock there. If, However you are using fixed bins then the stock will always go to the same bin but using fixed bin strategy is not enough you have to do the set up for these bins as well.
You have obviously missed something as I have used this a lot and it works fine
I hope that this helps

  • Batch Determination in SD - Fixed Storage Type

    Hi,
We have enable automatic batch determination at the delivery stage (VL01N). for example:
    Plant: 1000
    Storage Location: 3000
    Warehouse number: 300
    Storage type in warehouse number 300: 910,911,912, NF1, NF2, NF3
In SD batch determination process in some cases batch are select from storage type 910 or 912 or NF1 (depend on unrestricted use), how to configure in SD batch determination configuration for always select batch´s from fixed storage type (in this case NF1 or NF2 or NF3).

Nice idea, but what is your plan if no other batch is there, and all stock is in the interim storage type?
From my point of view it does not really matter where the process flow stucks, if you wait for batch assignment in delivery until the batch is in its real bin or if you do the assignment right away and the creation of WM-TO stucks until the quant is moved from the interim storage type to its final bin.
You just have to understand that batch determination and source bin determination serves usually different needs.
I usually search for a by certain quality figures to meet my customers requirement. Or by age,  to always issue the oldes stuff first.
A interim storage type is a warehouse internal thing, as I already said, nothing phyiscal. And in WM you use the storage bin search to determine the bin from where you can pick the desired material and batch.
My batch determination is setup to execute automatically when delivery is created. My deliveries are either created manually at the shipping office or automatically with a batch job.
Instead of using LT03 we have to use LB10 to create a WM-TO.  Of course this will fail if the quant is locked because of an open TO or if the storage type where it physically resides is not includes in the search.

  • Fixed / non-fixed storage in one storage type

    Hi,
Within our warehouse we have one area with fixed locations for some products, other products not. No clear physical separation can be made.
Is it possible to create one(!) storage type in which fixed and non-fixed can be stored while using one putaway strategy. If so, how to set this up?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Point is that we want to keep the warehouse as flexible as possible. By using storage sections you still have to assign bin locations to a specific section.
Within a range of 300 bins we might only want to use bin 20, 35 and 231 as fixed. In the future we might want to use bin 22 as well for a specific article. Based on your suggestion of using sections we have to assign bin 20, 35, 231 and 22 to a specific section. Correct?
Based on your suggestion; is the storage type putaway strategy "F" (Fixed) or "L" (First empty bin)?
    Thanks, Roel

  • Wm-fixed bin storage

    hi all,
Each time a goods receipt is posted for material ABC, you want to move the material directly to
the fixed storage bin FIX-ABC in storage type 005 of warehouse number 001 without creating a
transfer requirement or transfer order. To do this, you need to set up the system as follows:
    1. Create the fixed storage bin FIX-ABC in storage type 005 that is defined in the standard
system using the fixed bin search strategy. (See Stock Placement Strategy F: Fixed Storage
    Bin [Page 359])
    2. Create a special movement indicator for your warehouse number.
    3. Add the special movement indicator and the fixed storage bin FIX-ABC to the material master
for material ABC. (Be sure to enter storage type 005 in the organizational level dialog box
    when creating the material master).
    4. Create a new WM movement type to move materials directly into fixed storage bins without
creating transfer orders or transfer requirements.
    5. In the reference movement type table, create a new entry that links an appropriate IM
movement type to the new movement type using the special movement indicator.
i follow the above all the steps but the stock not moved to my fixed bin (005),instead of that its moved to shelf storage bin(002) . plz,try to solve my problem.
    Appreciate your help as always.
    regards
    muthuraman.d

    Hi
In the configuration for st type search strategies you can create a st type indicator (maybe FIX)
In the placement (E) you can add this indicator to your warehouse and in the table add 005 st type only which means if the system sees this indicator it has to go to 005
Finally in the WM1 view of the material master add the FIX in the stock placement field and then every time the material arrives it should look at the FIX nd then go to the search strategy and see that it goes to 005.
If you have lots of material for this strategy then when you have done the config use MM17 to update all of the materials with FIX.
    I hope that this helps

  • Fixed Bin Vs Random bin

    Dear WM Experts
Right now we are using Fixed bin in our WM. Can we conside random bin while doing ECC6 upgrade in early next year. Can you please let me know the disadvantages of fixed bin vs advantages of random bin. Appreciate your reply/inputs on this.
    Thanks & regards: Siva

    Hi Siva,
Its purely depends on the flow of goods into your warehouse and the business process which your company is following.
If you are having a very small warehouse with a very small quantities of materials, you don't need random bins, instead you can have a fixed bin by material.
The disadvantage is....in future, if you are getting huge quantities of materials in your warehouse, it is not possible to create new fixed bin again for the same material, because SAP supports only one fixed storage bin.
In case of random bin, irrespective of the quantity or the new materials, you can go on in crease the no. of bins in the same storage type.
    Hope it helps you.

  • Sap wms fixed replenishment method procedure.

    hi
can anybody help me to the process of FIXED REPLENISHMENT METOD PROCESS .
    anybody elebarote it clearly.
    thanks inadvance.

    Hi,
Replenishment is used to fill up the stock in fixed storage bins. The SAP system first creates transfer requirements for the required quantities. You then process the transfer requirements to create transfer orders as you normally would with the WM system.
Two different replenishment functions are available to you:
The function "replenishment for fixed storage bins" calculates the replenishment quantities necessary to maintain stock levels, based on the current stock situation and the entries in the material master.
The function "planning of replenishments for fixed storage bins" forecasts the necessary stock for fixed storage bins by considering planned stock removals resulting from existing deliveries with picking from fixed storage bins, along side the current stock situation.
This is calculated based on the entries maintianed in the material master.
    Regards
    Ravi Shankar.

  • IPhone storage capacity - large "Other" category

Had 8GB of space taken up by 'Other' (the bar at the bottom of iTunes) and just did a full 'new phone' restore followed by a backup restore from iCloud. I also turned off PhotoStream. Other is now down to 900MB, which feels reasonable (I have quite a few documents on the phone, including iMovie and Garageband projects).
But how did it balloon to 8GB? That's about a third of the total capacity of my 32GB iPhone 5. My photostream should have been big, but not that big.
As near as I can tell it was some sort of temp file/buffer allotment, previously deleted projects and videos and photos were kind of caught in limbo. Apple needs to fix storage management for iOS, where it keeps space available if it's occupied by old, unwanted data.
Has anyone found a way of clearing Other and optimizing storage besides through restores and using third party file exploration utilities?
TL;DR - greatly reduced the size of 'Other' by doing a full restore then restoring from a backup.
I'll do an experiment and turn PhotoStream back on now, and see what happens in the next while.

"Other" is often inflated by corrupted files, perhaps there as a result of some faulty app.
The general way to clear "Other" (down to approx. 1GB) is to do a restore just as you have done.

  • I have one icloud acount with my phone and ipad on it.  I want to make a new ipad account so I can free up storage space on my phone and put the ipad on its own ipad account

I have one Icloud account for my iPhone 6 plus and my ipad.  I have no stoage left.  So if I set up an Icloud account for the ipad it will have its own storage then I can take it off and open up some storage on my phone.

In case you're not clear - iPad/iPhone storage, and iCloud storage, are totally separate. Buying more iCloud storage does not give you more storage space on your device. Your device has a fixed storage space for apps and data (e.g., 16GB - which is more like 12GB in real terms). iCloud storage just allows you to store more documents, mail, photos, etc, in the cloud.

  • Fixed bin

    Hello all,
I would like to know wats the use of fixed bin? How to create a fixed bin…does all the bin that come under fixed storage type are called as fixed bin?  Is it possible to have multiple materials in one fixed bin? Wats the exact purpose of having a fixed bin…pl. post any documents/links related to fixed bin
    Thanks,
    Maxx

I would like to know wats the use of fixed bin?  - Fixed bin is one of the putaway and picking strategy in warehouse management. When you have one material which is always going to one particualr bin in that case you can assign fixed for that material in particular storage type which has Fixed bin stretagy.
How to create a fixed bin…does all the bin that come under fixed storage type are called as fixed bin?
It is normal Bin creation process using LS01N or LS05 (automatic).
Fixed bin is defined at storage type level so all the storage bin is created for that storage type will have fixed storage bin.
Is it possible to have multiple materials in one fixed bin? Yes, possible
Wats the exact purpose of having a fixed bin…pl. post any documents/links related to fixed bin
    as explained above

  • Change of bin not possible during TO confirmation

    Hi all.
I am trying to change the destination storage bin during transfer between bins (WM movement 309).
The strategy is fix bin (maintained in material master), so the TO is created with fix destination bin and operator must change it before confirmation.
For example, in GR it is possible to change destination bin during confirmation in transaction LT12 but not for transfer. The receiving storage type is the same in both cases. Is there any customizing missing?
Apart from this, is there any way to confirm items separately inside a TO? For example, during GR I try to confirm a TO in transaction LT11 for just one item and waiting for the rest to be placed physically in order to confirm all the TO but destination bin can not be modified in LT11. Is there any way to confirm item per item but allowing changing destination bin? it is possible to do it in LT12 but not in LT11.
Many thanks in advanced and best regards.

    Hi,
Generally, it is possible to change the destination bin during TO confirmation. However, this is not possible under the following conditions:
    o  With dynamic coordinates
o  If the destination bin location is specified in the movement type
o  For posting change transfer orders
o  For the physical inventory using a putaway
o  For the addition to existing stock for storage units
o  For the transaction Confirm Single Item (transaction LT11)
o  If a bulk storage type is involved in the stock movement
o  In the event of an individual putaway strategy
o  If the first item of a TO with storage units is already confirmed
since all the other items of the storage unit relate to the same
storage bin. When you save the first TO item, the system changes
the destination storage bin for all dependent items.
o  If this is a replenishment transfer requirement for a fixed
       storage bin.
Please see SAP Note number 443916 for an explanation.
    Thank you.
