Fixing image size irrespective of the monitor dimensions

Hi ,
I have an HTML region, which has an image displayed from WORKSPACE_IMAGES. This regions exists at column 3 and is in the midst of two other regions which are at coulmn 1 (navigation region) and 9 (side bar region). Apparently I want this image to extend completely in the middle region. For which, I have set the width and height of the image which suits my monitor and it works fine (<img src=#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#Oracle_Corporation_HQ.jpg style="height:320px;" style="width:480px;" >).
But the problem is, this doesnot display properly when viewed in a different monitor size. This occupies the complete screen in case of a monitor of smaller dimension and shows up the empty background in case of monitor of higher dimension.
Could you please help me in fixing the size of the image irrespective of the monitor dimensions!
Thanks & regards,
Anasuya

Anasuya,
Your best bet is to pick a common monitor size and then develop your templates for that. Today, you'd be safe with 1024x768.
Using variable-width templates is more difficult to do, as the pages will look differently on smaller resolution screens than they do on larger resolution ones, and thus, you will have less control over the look and feel of your application.
Say you have a variable template with a 500 pixel image that is centered on the page; it may look fine on a 1024x768 screen, but as the size increases, the amount of white space on either side will also increase.
Most popular sites adhere to a fixed-width template; I recommend that you also investigate this option.
Thanks,

  • Guys, any idea what is the exact thing to put  to resize or enlarge the image size  to make the phot

    Guys, any idea what is the exact thing to put  to resize or enlarge the image size  to make the photo larger or bigger when uploading in Facebook?? thanks

    You could check "Resize to Fit" and specify the exact dimensions you want in the Lightroom Export dialog box.
    But a word to the wise ... don't bother ... there is a maximum size that Facebook allows for photos, and you'd be wasting your time specifying anything reasonably large in Lightroom's Export dialog box.

  • "Could not complete the image size command because the file name was not valid"

    Hello,
    Some one please help me,when i try to resize psd file its showing this message ...whats the issue ???
    "Could not complete the image size command because the file name was not valid"
    Thanks !

    Can you change other images via Image > Image Size?
    Boilerplate-text:
    Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by pressing command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift while starting Photoshop until the appropriate dialog appears after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)

  • Email-to facilitate emailing a photo by gmail or AOL, I reduce the file size.  Is it better to reduce the image size or increase the jpg compression?

    To facilitate emailing a photo by gmail or AOL and avoid overwhelming the recipient's screen, I reduce the file size.  Is it better to reduce the image size or increase the jpg compression?  I have been making a duplicate image of 35 MB and reducing the image size to 8"x12" at 72 resolution giving a file size of 1.4 MB.  Then I SAVE AS a jpg of medium compression giving a  file size of about 111 KB.  Overkill?

    Go to File>save for web.
    I usually make the long side 800 px
    At the bottom of the dialog, check "constrain proportions."
    At the top, select JPEG in the dropdown for the file format.
    All the work is done for you! 72px/in is ok for web work. 240-300px/in is the recommended range for printing.

  • Different fix lot size depending on the production version

    Hi all,
    I have the next scenario:
    2 production versions. 2 different fix lot size por each. So:
    Prod Version 1 - Fix lot size 200
    Prod Version 2 - Fix lot size 300
    I created the Quota Arrangement just to make SAP to take my favourite version. And trought the quota, I can define the lot size for each version. BUT.
    If I change the version in the order or in the planned order, the quantity don't change.
    So: How can I manage 2 different fix lot size for 2 different product versions? If I change the version once the order is created, how can I do the system change de quantity to the right one?
    Thanks in advante

    I have n't  tried this scenario,
    This is my Idea
    Create a two production version
    for ex: lot size 100 to 1000, set the rounding profile qty as 1000
    for lot size 1001 to 99999, set the lot rounding profile value to 5000
    BY this way u can get the two lot based on the rounding profie

  • About viewing images that are not the same dimensions as the iPod screen

    I sent some images to my iPod via email. I saved them to my photo library. When I went to look at them, I noticed something odd was happening: my iPod is sort of 'stretching' the images so they fit the entire screen of my iPod, even if that means a) cutting off parts of the image (either top and bottom or the two sides), or b) is stretching the dimensions of the image to fit the screen--I can't tell which is happening, though I think the former.
    I can view the image correctly by pinching it a bit, but if I move to another image and come back, it's back to being stretched.
    I know that in Photoshop I can add a black boarder (either top and bottom or on the sides), so the image with the border matches the dimensions of the screen, but that seems like a pain in the rear to do with each image. This seems like an odd quirk of the iPod, given that they are trying to use the camera and image viewing as a selling point.
    Is there any setting on the iPod so I can keep it from doing this (I noticed that it does this even with photos I take with the iPod camera, because they have slightly different dimensions than the screen)? And if not, does anyone know the ratio (side to top) or resolution (in pixels) of the screen so I can match it.
    Thanks, David

    So generous people; thank you for your time.
    I visited the camera store and we discovered that my camera lcd was set to the maximum brightness level which completely distorted any understanding of my exposure. What I now see on the lcd in terms of ligt and shadow is very similar to what I see on my computer screen.
    Maybe you can shed light on this:
    I also may need to just upgrade my imac. On the camera store's late model imac my images were tac sharp but on my imac they look quite soft and still have less light.
    There is also still some difference in terms of color settings. My camera's colors have a brighter pinkish tone and on the camera store's imac and mine the tone is yellowish orange.
    I will try DPReview and Nikoncafe. My first step is to reset my cameras to factory defaults and then upload and compare.
    Thank you both for your help

  • Fullscreen image as background: What image size should be the original file?

    Hello adobe users,
    I'm creating for my first time a website which uses a photograph as the main background. This will be fullscreen. Her eyou have some examples:
    http://www.flemingsteele.com/
    http://www.benthomsonphoto.com/
    Always better one image than 1000 of words.
    My question is quite basic: What is the perfect image size the photograph should be for a fullscreen-image-background?
    Is there any tips the photographer should take in place?
    Any special mode?
    Which format should it be? Panoramic? Rectangular?
    What quality and weight should it have?
    I'm very concerned that the raw material (the original pictures) compromise the final product. I want to create the website so it can adapt any screen resolutions. Can anybody help around?!
    Dani

    Hello,
    Why the files are not allowed to grow beyond the 8GBThe MAXSIZE of the Datafile can be set to the value you want up to UNLIMITED ( which is limited physically according to the OS Platform, the db_block_size and the type of Tablespace - smallfile or bigfile ).
    If you have a SMALLFILE TABLESPACE then the Datafile can have up to *4MBlocks*, so if the db_block_size is *2KB* you are limited to *8GB* even if you set MAXSIZE to UNLIMITED.
    A SMALLFILE TABLESPACE can have up to 1022 Datafiles. So with a db_block_size of *2KB* the Tablespace can reach about *8TB* (with 1022 Datafiles of 8GB).
    If you have a BIGSIZE TABLESPACE the Datafile can have up to *4GBlocks*, so if the db_block_size is *2KB* you are limited to *8TB*. But the Tablespace could have in this case only one Datafile and, you have to be sure that the OS Plateform can support such a large file.
    Of course, if the db_block_size is larger, for instance *8KB* (which is an usual value), the limit for a Datafile belonging to a SMALLFILE TABLESPACE becomes *32GB*... And so on.
    Hope this help.
    Best regards,
    Jean-Valentin

  • [Gnome-shell] make the notification image size depends of the sender

    Hi,
    I just set up my Arch and decided to make it beautiful.
    And one of the things upset me was the size of the profil picture in Gwibber notification.
    So I decided to look a bit into the Gnome-Shell code to change that.
    Now, Gwibber notification will be displayed with 48px images, while Rhythmbox will still display 125px images.
    Here is the code :
    In /usr/share/themes/<your-theme>/gnome-shell/
    gnome-shell.css
    /* We use row-span = 2 for the image cell, which prevents its height preferences to be
    taken into account during allocation, so its height ends up being limited by the height
    of the content in the other rows. To avoid showing a stretched image, we set the minimum
    height of the table to be ICON_SIZE + IMAGE_SIZE + spacing-rows = 24 + 125 + 10 = 159*/
    .notification-with-image {
    min-height: 159px;
    /*=== ADD THIS === */
    /* Same for twitter notification :
    24 + 48 + 10 = 82*/*/
    .notification-with-twitter-image {
    min-height: 82px;
    /*=== END ADD ====*/
    Add the .notification-with-twitter-image section.
    The idea is to differentiate the two type of notification to apply different height on it.
    In /usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui
    messageTray.js
    setImage: function(image) {
    if (this._imageBin)
    this.unsetImage();
    this._imageBin = new St.Bin();
    this._imageBin.child = image;
    this._imageBin.opacity = 230;
    this._table.add_style_class_name('multi-line-notification');
    /*this._table.add_style_class_name('notification-with-image');*/
    /*=== ADD THIS === */
    if (this.IMAGE_SIZE === 48) {
    this._table.add_style_class_name('notification-with-twitter-image');
    } else { // IMAGE_SIZE === 125
    this._table.add_style_class_name('notification-with-image');
    /*=== END ADD ==== */
    this._addBannerBody();
    this._updateLastColumnSettings();
    this._table.add(this._imageBin, { row: 1,
    col: 1,
    row_span: 2,
    x_expand: false,
    y_expand: false,
    x_fill: false,
    y_fill: false });
    unsetImage: function() {
    if (this._imageBin) {
    this._table.remove_style_class_name('notification-with-image');
    /*=== ADD THIS === */
    this._table.remove_style_class_name('notification-with-twitter-image');
    /*=== END ADD ==== */
    this._table.remove_actor(this._imageBin);
    this._imageBin = null;
    this._updateLastColumnSettings();
    if (!this._scrollArea && !this._actionArea)
    this._table.remove_style_class_name('multi-line-notification');
    Here we add everything related to notification-with-twitter-image in both functions.
    Adding the class, and removing the class.
    notificationDaemon.js
    // We only display a large image if an icon is also specified.
    if (icon && (hints['image-data'] || hints['image-path'])) {
    let image = null;
    /*=== ADD THIS === */
    if (ndata.appName === 'Gwibber') {
    notification.IMAGE_SIZE = 48;
    /*=== END ADD ==== */
    if (hints['image-data']) {
    let [width, height, rowStride, hasAlpha,
    bitsPerSample, nChannels, data] = hints['image-data'];
    image = St.TextureCache.get_default().load_from_raw(data, hasAlpha,
    width, height, rowStride, notification.IMAGE_SIZE);
    } else if (hints['image-path']) {
    image = St.TextureCache.get_default().load_uri_async(GLib.filename_to_uri(hints['image-path'], null),
    notification.IMAGE_SIZE,
    notification.IMAGE_SIZE);
    notification.setImage(image);
    } else {
    notification.unsetImage();
    Here, we modify the IMAGE_SIZE depending if it's a Gwibber notification.
    That's all.
    Edit: Does someone know how to submit this patch to Gnome-Shell developers ?

    Hi,
    I wasn't exactly clear, but yes there is a specific place to add the code.
    My patches only add code to the existing one.
    You should search in original file for code I didn't add (outside the "===== ADD THIS =====" blocks), and then add my code were I added it.

  • Image size different than the Bridge

    question. I shoot raw images and can export to jpeg in The Bridge at 6144 x 4096 (25.2 MP) 300 dpi. Opened in Photoshop that's a 20.4x13.6
    Why do the same images export from Lightroom at 3286 x 2191, 300 dpi??
    In photoshop that just under 11.6x7.7
    Where can I fix this in Lightroom please?

    There is no advantage to upresing until you go to print, and even then that's assuming the upresing you do is better than what the printer/printer driver does. The 1DII is an 8.2MP camera, and always upresing your images to 25MP sounds like a waste of disk space to me.

  • BUG: 16.0.1 Updating linked export image size does not update other dimension

    Hi
    Either this is a bug or I'm missing something.
    1. In AI CS6 16.0.1 (32-bit), click "Save for Web and Devices"
    2. Make sure W & H are linked
    3. Make a change to Image width
    4. Tab through to Image height - this should update? But it doesn't.
    5. Tab through to Percentage - height remains unchanged, but width is reset to original value.
    I thought height should update when I did this.
    Now try this:
    1. Cancel out of Save for W&D and come back in, then repeat Step 1 above
    2. Unlink and immediately relink width and height using the chain button
    3. Update width
    4. Tab through to height and hey presto, it updates now.
    So Save for W&D is not picking up the fact that "Retains original image proportions is checked" when the dialog is launched.
    Can anyone confirm this?
    Cheers
    Richard

    OK, this is a known bug. We'll take care of it!  Thanks

  • Is there a way to adjust image size? (besides the little slider)

    Just wondering if this is an issue with my iphoto or camera. When I add pictures to my iphoto from my camera they appear really tiny. When I make them larger within the window, the pictures become distorted. They also upload on to websites extremely small. I have checked my camera settings and everything seems to be normal there. My friend has a iphoto, and her pictures are not uploading this tiny. Is there a setting that I can change for this?
    thank you!

    Jacquie
    It would appear that your friend replaced all the Original full sized pics with the thumbnails that iPhoto uses for display.
    To start over:
    To create and populate a new library:
    Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
    Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
    Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
    Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
    When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
    In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
    Regards
    TD

  • Is it possible to export an HDMI image size?

    Is it possible to export an HDMI image size?

    Enter the required dimension in; Inspector >  document slide size.
    1024 x 768 is HD-TV pixel dimension, but there are other graphics sizes you can set for higher resolution.
    Note that you need to set up the slide size first before you add objects on the slide, otherwise they will be distorted when the size is changed.

  • Why are my cropped images not printing at the size I have cropped them to?!

    Hey!
    I know how to crop images to specific sizes using either the rectangular marquee or crop tool. However, I am needing to print a number of small images, so want to compile them into one document to save paper. Once the image is cropped, it shows up in 'image size' as being the required size, however, when I copy and paste it into another document in an attempt to arrange it on a page with other cropped images, the images come out at about half the specified size when I print them.
    Is it to do with the view I am using, because it doesn't seem to matter whether I set it to 'print size' or 'actual pixels'?
    I can't seem to find an answer to this, and I'm sure that I didn't have a problem with this when I was using photoshop more regularly a few years ago!

    Hello,
    You need to ake sure the target document and the source documents have the same"resolution", in other words the same PPI.
    You could also use the Edit>Place command, which will respect the print dimensions of the source photo, but import it as a Smart Object.

    I have an A2500 camera.  The images are great, but they're huge (1.5mb each) and fill up my memory card way too quickly.  How can I use the camera's menu settings so images are stored in a smaller size?

    Hi TravelMark!
    Thanks for posting!
    To change the image size, please press the <FUNC/SET> button. select the [L], then change that to [M1] or [M2].
