Flah Lite Device Centre: content types

Welcome everyone,
my question is what is a difference between 'browser' content
type and 'standalone player'. I found out that most Nokia phone
types support standalone player but do not support browser content
type. It is quite different in Sony-Ericsson phones, which mostly
supprt browser content type and do not support standalone player.
Can someone explain me the difference and answer if content
created for Nokia phones as standalone player will work on SE
phones by simply changing its type to browser?

Device Central:
1) Uses only phones that have Flash Lite pre-installed
2) Emulates speed of each handset differently
3) Change the time, date, signal strength, and remaining
battery of the phone on the fly
4) Emulate different lighting conditions
5) Calculates memory consumption
etc...

    Hi Soni,
In addition, I found some links for using Content Query Web Part for your reference:

  • Querying a Flash Lite content type running in the player

In the current Flash Lite specs, it's not possible to query
    the content
type that is running from within the Flash Lite player
    (wallpaper,
    screensaver, standalone, etc).
    My questions:
1.) Is this something that can be (easily) implemented in the
    next rev
of Flash Lite? I can think of a few use cases where this
    might be
    (potentially) useful.
Basically, this would allow for a detect mechanism, and thus
    provide a
way to disable or enable functionality within content based
    on how it is
being run (based on the content-type detected).
For example, if FL content is run as a screensaver, no custom
    softkey
navigation would appear. However, if run as standalone
    content, a custom
UI might appear ... say giving the user the option to quit,
    get more
    info, etc.
I am posting here to see if others would be interested in
    such
    functionality.
2.) From my tests, I don't think the FL content type is
    inserted into
the Flash Lite SWF header, but can it be? Injecting meta data
    into SWF's
is tricky business ... does it make sense to add this
    functionality in
the next rev of Flash Lite? ... again, this info might be
    useful in some
content use cases, which tie back to #1.
    Thoughts?
    -sj

I could see some strong potential FL improvements by opening
this door. This could be very useful in the sense that developers
could then #include a single .as file that would act as a master
    library regardless of content type.
Another feature that ties into this that I would love would
be FL version detection. Granted, this file could sort of be
created with FS2 command detection. But still, creating one library
file that covers all user input methods would be very nice.
To take this a step further, could this also detect what
edition a phone is? Again, this could be done with via a
WURFL, but that is a huge
pain (not to mention memory intensive). It would be sweet if my
code could (simply) detect a 3rd edition series 60 Nokia and
automatically build in controls for screen rotation and soft key
    repositioning.
To sum up, I agree with you Scott. Btw—nice to see you
    in the forums.

  • The content type of the response message does not match the content type of the binding

I have written an ASP.Net web service which returns english, chinese and portuguese data. Everything seemed working fine until the method retunred only english data. The moment it returns english, chinese and portuguese data I get the error:
The content type text/html; charset=utf-8 of the response message does not match the content type of the binding (text/xml; charset=utf-8). If using
a custom encoder, be sure that the IsContentTypeSupported method is implemented properly. The first 1024 bytes of the response were:

It is not written using WCF ... any workarounds?!
    Thank you.

  • Syncing behaviour/direction of individual content type in iTunes

Hi fellows. I wish to clarify my understanding of how iTunes sync (overwrite) the individual content type on an iPod. The scenario is: when I sync an iPod with another new library, typically we will be prompted with the warning message, "+this iPod is currently synced with another library. If you choose to sync it with this library, all the existing content will be replaced with the content on this library+" (or some similar warning). My doubts are as follows:
Qn1. Am I right to say that, even if I click "okay" to that warning message above, the actual "replacing" +doesn't start immediately+ as iTunes will wait for the user to select what subset of content he wants, & more importantly, for the user to click the "sync" button (near the bottom right of iTunes) before the actual erasing and replacing begins?
Qn2. Does iTunes treat each content type as separate libraries, i.e. in the context of "approving" iTunes's demand to overwrite the existing content on the iPod with content from iTunes own, current library, if the "sync" checkbox on the other content type's tab is unchecked, will that existing content type stored on the iPod be excluded from the erasing and replacing?
I understand this may be very confusing, so allow me to illustrate my question with a specific example:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v489/ralliart12/blog180610/iTunes%20library%20revisit/initially_unchked_for_unpairedipod.png
If I choose to sync music from the current iTunes library to an iPod that was previously synced with another library, and I approved iTunes to go ahead and replace the existing music on the iPod with the music from the iTunes library but I have the "Sync Apps" checkbox unchecked, will the apps +on the iPod+ be wiped? Similarly, if the "sync movies" checkbox on the Movie tab is unchecked, will the movies on the iPod be wiped when I allow iTunes to replace the music library on the iPod with the songs from iTunes?
Qn2a. If iTunes treat syncing each content type libraries on their own, are music and movies treated as one library?
Qn2b. What determines the initial "checked/unchecked" status of each of those check-boxes in the diagram above when an iPod that is synced with another library, is connected to iTunes for the first time?
In fact (this paragraph is not a qn; just a comment) I find the manner in which this is handled in iTunes to be inelegant. E.g. suppose in the context of qn2 iTunes treat all content type libraries as one unified library, and once I give iTunes the permission to erase the songs on the iPod with the songs from its current library but say I don't wanna replace the apps on the iPod with the apps from this iTunes library; neither do I wish to replace the podcasts on the iPod with the podcasts on this iTunes library. I can goto the "Apps" tab and uncheck "Sync Apps", but I could not goto the "Podcasts" tab and uncheck "Sync podcasts" without committing/applying the updated aps syncing conditions first. So if the "Sync podcasts" checkbox was checked for some reason, the podcatss on the iPod will be replaced with podcasts from the iTunes library without my "permission".
For those who are veterans with this sync-ing behaviour stuff, I sincerely hope to gain some insight as to how iTunes behaves (in these contexts above). Thanks n advance.

I'm going to duck out of giving you a definitive answer on the grounds that I don't really know and I don't have the resources or time to check the details. However I may still have something to offer. As you've observed the process is more than a little obscure, but the safest option is to assume that if you attempt to move your device from syncing with one library to syncing with another you will lose all the existing media content on the device.
The exact details will ultimately depend on the type of device. For example, while many can be *manually managed* with more than one library the iPhone (and I think the Shuffle) can only take content from one library even in this mode. More particularly when you manually add content to an iPhone every file that you have on the device will be compared with it's "original" in your library and if there isn't a matching file the one on the device will be removed. In contrast on a "synced" iPod Classic you could (not that it's a good idea) remove larger physical files such as movies once they've been synced to the device and, although iTunes might issue a warning, it will not remove the existing files as long as there are still coresponding entries in the library.
With the exception of the transfer of purchased content all sync operations are strictly library to device. iTunes will have a good go at throwing away your data given half a chance. For this reason I strongly urge that you make backups of your library and media files and certainly never rely on the device to hold the only copy of any of your precious files.
It's not clear why you want this information, but if you're determined to tease out the finer details then it shouldn't be too hard for you to create a number of small distinct test libraries and actually try it out for yourself. If the issue is that you simply want the freedom to update your device from more than one computer then this is perfectly feasible. Simply put your entire library on an external (preferably host powered) usb drive and take it with you. I take one further step and sync my library with my local drive at each end using SyncToy 2.1 so that I end up with 3 mutual backups for the same library, one at home, one at work, and the one I carry between them. I can open any of the three libraries on my PCs or connect the portable version to any computer running the same build of iTunes to update any of my devices without losing any content.

    Hello George,
This tutorial should step you through the basic process of configuring the device and connecting the thermocouple:
Tutorial: Connect Thermocouples to a Data Acquisition (DAQ) Device
http://www.ni.com/gettingstarted/setuphardware/dataacquisition/thermocouples.htm#Connecting a Thermocouple to Your Device
From there, there are a number of things you can do- I'd recommend taking a look at the LabVIEW shipping examples (Help>>Find Examples...) as well as the DAQmx getting started tutorials:
Getting Started with NI-DAQmx: Main Page
    http://www.ni.com/white-paper/5434/en
At first glance, the 6363 you're using should have enough resolution to acquire usable data from a thermocouple- if you attempt reading raw voltages be sure that the acquisition range is configured for +/- 0.1V, though.

  • Setting Content-Type in .jspx file

    Hello,
My application is not rendered by an HTML Browser.
I need to set the contentType to application/x-ywidget+xml in my JSPX file.
The content type returned is always text/xml !!!
    I have tried:
    1. To create a phaseListener and overloading before or after phase in ANY_PHASE
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ExternalContext extContext = context.getExternalContext();
    HttpServletResponse response =
    (HttpServletResponse)extContext.getResponse();
    String contentType = "application/x-ywidget+xml";
    response.setContentType(contentType);
    2. To add a new MimeType extension in web.xml and create my file under this extension
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>jsp</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>*.xygo</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>

    Thanks you for you help.
What i would like to do is to use a JSF library components to build YahooGO pages (Yahoo mobile widgets).
For this my server needs to return an xml document with the application/x-ywidget+xml content type.
Regarding you question i don't think that the target device understand the HTML.. on my mobile, it's J2ME application...
Perhaps you can provide me some advices.

    Hey all,
I'm trying to export a trailer in DCP form from Premiere using the Wraptor DCP format -- no problems with the end result except the cinema are saying it's coming up as a feature on their system, rather than a trailer or advertisement. Is there a way to specify the content type within the Premiere export settings? Cheers.

"From your Purchased page, click the tab for the content type you're looking for (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, or Books)."
Ok, Movies only in US.. that is fine.. BUT I only have Apps and Books to select. Where is my option to download my music again? I can see my purchases under my account but from the store trying to follow the described method - impossible!
I don't care about apps or books.. music.. I want my paid music. No wonder people pirate music?!

  • Not able to crawl all items from External content type

    Hello All,
"All the records in my external content source are not getting crawled, only 1/3 rd of the data are getting crawled."
    Steps:
I created "External content type" using sharepoint designer which connects to a SQL Server database.
Have written a SQL View joining 2 tables, which return 9,00,000 rows when executed using the SQL Server management studio.
I used the default "Business Data Connectivity Service" and "Search Service Application" and made sure the necessary permissions are set.
Created a External Content source for the search service application and selected the "Business Data Connectivity Service" -> "Crawl selected External datasource" -> <my external datasource i created in sharepoint designer>
    Issue
When i ran the full crawl for the first time it crawled "3,49,923" records in 01 hour and 07 seconds. And returned 1 error "Error crawling LOB Contents.(Error caused by exception: System.InvalidOperationException. There is an error in XML
    document...)
Later i removed the below item from the index and started a full recrawl, this time it crawled "3,49,924" records 1 record extra from my previous crawl
    and no errors were returned.
Please let me know what could be the issue. It doesn't look like the permission related issues as i am able to crawl the 1/3rd of my total data. Also i am able to search the crawled data. I also set the throtteling limit for the "Business data catalog"
to -maximum 10000000 -default 1000000 which is less than the data it has to crawl.
    SRIRAM

    Hi ,
I started the change suggested in the link shared by you, but got stuck at a point,
The field which i set as identifier in BCS earlier is not having unique values. Total rows returned by the sql view is 899000, but the unique values present in the column that is set as identifier is
3,49,923, which is equal to the number of rows crawled. - Is this the reason why it didnt crawl all records?
The table that is used in the sql view has composite key, - Is it possible to have multiple identifier in BCS as well?
Is it possible to make BCS to ignore the identifier? i mean creating BCS without an identifier column?
Please let me know your suggestions on this.
    Thanks,
    SRIRAM
Yes, BCS needs a UID. This is so it can figure out changes over time to a single record. Otherwise all changes to a row could be a potential new row without BCS knowing any better.
Yes, or just have it run off the composite key instead of the field you're using now.
Nope, BCS needs a UID field like in answer 1 :)
    Good luck!

  • Cannot add hub-managed content type with external list lookup columns to a list -- Error:Id field is not set on the external data field

This is a variation on the issue mentioned in this
    post
We are using SP 2010 Content Hub to manage our content types.  On the content hub we've created a couple of exteranl lists, and then created some site columns as lookups against these lists.  We then added the columns to one of our content types
    and set it to publish.
After the publishing job executed, I tried adding the content type (which now appears on the subscriber sites) to one of the document libraries on one of the subscriber sites.  When I did that it threw the following error:

I checked the external  content type configuration and it did specify an "id column".  Anyone know if what I am attempting to do is possible and if so, what special configurations are required?
    Thanks

The issue is not External Content type or external list but the look up column.
It's not possible to publish a look up column via the Content Type Hub.
If you need to do this then an alternate way is to use a Managed Metadata column instead, otherwise you will have to implement this via a feature.

  • Problem with content type

    Hi All,
I have set the content type to text/html by using the following statement in jsp
    <%@page contentType=text/html%>And if I give
out.println("<a href="aaa.do">Click here</a>"); it is showing me a link to click here that's fine.
But my problem here is that I am using struts <bean:write name="user1" property="subject"/> tag and the data in the subject field is Click here i.e the output from the database, now its not showing the link instead displaying every thing even if the content type is set. How can I achieve this? please help me out.

in your bean:write tag try setting the filter attribute to false, like so
    <bean:write name="xxx" property="xxx" filter="false"/>
