Flash 7 player in Java

Hi all,
I have developed a Flash 7 compatible virtual machine in java 1.1. This will allow java developers to use Macromedia Flex, or Flash MX to make great looking front ends, graphical animations etc directly within their java application.
The core technology is all there, but I obviously want to release it in its most useful form to java developers. I would be interested to know what people might want from such a system, i.e. how do people think it should interface with a normal java application. Here are a couple of the questions that I am considering, but I am interested to hear people's thoughts on all aspects of this idea.
Currently java classes can be accessed from actionscript by their implementing a simple "ASObject" interface, which allows access to public methods of the class. Is this the most useful way of connecting native, backend java classes with the Flash VM?
Should the UI run directly as a java application, or should it be invoked by the application on demand. If the latter, how should it present itself?
The flash player currently runs as an applet, and examples may be seen on http://www.holomatix.com
Most of the demos on there are rather 3D - centric, as Blaze 3D studio is aimed at merging high quality realtime 3d and flash. The IBM anyplace kiosk in the showcase has a decent amount of flash in it though, and of course the player can play any swf up to flash 7.
I greatly appreciate your comments and advice on this, and look forward to (hopefully) doing things the right way! :-)
Regards
Guy

  • Neither Flash Player nor Java working on Windows 8.1 with IE 11

I have a new sony laptop with Windows 8 and IE 11.  I have upgraded to Windows 8.1.  Neither Flash Player nor Java are working despite having made all the recommended settings. Adobe recommends upgrading to Flash Player 12.00.38, but I can seem to get it installed.
Whats wrong and how do I fix it?

Flash Player for IE in Windows 8 and 8.1 is embedded by Microsoft and you cannot update it here. It MUST be updated via Windows Update.
The fatc that Java isn't working as well leads me to believe you have other problems, but IE11 (comes with Windows 8.1) has been a "rolling train wreck" since the day it was released. Websites and pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Major problems with adobe flash player and java.....HELP!

So i have bought 3 laptop computers during this past week due to the same issue im having now. When i try to play my gaming websites such as pogo...simslots and my fav games on facebook.....i get a oppps we are sorry but it looks like you do not have adobe flash player/java up to date....to update click here and when i do it, it does nothing...it says that since windows 8 is integrated with java and flash player i do not need to down load these.....but yet with out those i can not play my games....have called to the geek squad and they seem to not know what the problem is either, they only said that it sounds like a problem with windows 8 itself......can someone please help me?????

See http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html - most likely you didn't enable the add-on.

  • On My web site the adobe flash player replaced with a white box "need to install adobe flash player and Java script" both installed. My web site fine using Internet Explorer and Chrome.

I've updated to Firefox ver 5.

The FlashPlayer plugin used for Firefox is entirely separate from the one that Internet Explorer uses. You system details do not show Flash Player is installed.
With flash player installed and enabled if you go to the Adobe website it will check that FlashPlayer works, also you will be able to download and install from there if necessary. The site page also has links to troubleshooting information. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Javascript is not the same as Java. Javascript, which is what you need enabled at present is a feature of the firefox browser that needs enabling in order for it to handle the javscript files.
    * use '''Firefox button -> Options ->| Content| -> [] Enable Javascript'''
    * see [[Javascript]]

  • I want to enter into the chatting session and want to install the flash player and java, how can I do that?

I want to see the images from the Internet, want to chat on dardesha, an Arabic chat site, want to dOwnload also java. If all these cannot be happened so then what is the use of Purchasing such a costly iPad, I am working on a shop where I use to sell my own laptops and accessories And was encouraging to purchase iPad, iPhones, apple laps etc but this problem is not going from the past several months if it will be like this then I will Throw this iPad and never buy or ask my customers to buy it. In this context I have gone through some of the discussions and Community answers but unable to find a solution for it.

I swore I would never reply to another complaint on Flash, but your post really, really irked me.
So, here I am and here's the facts.
No Apple iOS mobile has ever and, probably, never will have Flash. Adobe has not developed a working reliable and stable version of Flash that Apple is willing to use on their devices.
I looks like you didn't do any homework researching Apple mobile devices.
These issues have been discussed over and over here in these forums and other places on the Internet.
It's common knowledge that Adobe Flash has never been implemented on any of Apple's mobile platform devices.
    No secret here.
See this article from Steve Jobs, himself.
    http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/
And, I believe Java does not work on iOS, either.
Go ahead. Throw your iPad away.
Other Tablet devices such as Motorola Xoom, Samsung's Galaxy Tab and Research in Motion's Playbook all do Flash and maybe Java, too!
iPad is not for you! If you can find and purchase these in your location, you may fare better with one of these tablet devices, instead.  But I doubt it!
Good Luck and Happy mobile computing! ;)
    Good luck!

Hi a, Glad you removed Norton. On Skype, go to Tools & Manage add ons. Find any add ons that pertain to
Skype and Disable them. Once these problems have been solved then you can always enable any that have been disabled.
Anytime you lose an Internet connection you will receive those kind of errors. Wireless connections are subject to a loss of signal. I would contact your Carrier and report them.
Any site or game that tells you to update Flash Player, ignore. You did the right thing going to Youtube. If that works, then disregard anything to the contrary. That site is having a problem, not you. Take care not to disrupt your Flash Player Installation!!
On Avast not being able to update would most likely be due to the loss of signal. That Avast updated 3 times is not unusual. That is just a sign of additional risks. I had Avast and during some periods that was done also. No problem.
While you are still in the process of removing programs and troubleshooting, if there are any add ons/plug-ins/extensions that are causing an issue, I would disable them. Once you have your troubleshooting done, then see about them.
On McAfee, didn't that Install with FP at one time? I think you removed that as I recall. You can refer to the instructions I gave you to remove it and make sure it is not there.
    Thanks,
    eidnolb

  • Mozilla will not allow me to update flash player and java and keeps saying 'oops crashed' i need to uninstall it but nothing works

Please help me uninstall mozilla. I downloaded it ages ago but didn't use it. I have Vista 32 bit computer. Every time I try to update java or flash a box pops up from mozilla to say it's crashed and wont let me update.

I would have preferred to help you get Mozilla Firefox working, although I will admit that Firefox is currently having some problems with FlashPlayer on Windows. Note by the way that FlashPlayer for Internet Explore is a completely different installation.
Instructions for uninstalling Mozilla Firefox are here:
    * [[Uninstall Firefox from your computer]]
If you have not used Firefox you will have no saved passwords or bookmarks to worry about, but most users would normally wish to transfer these where possible to another computer if so see
    * [[Export bookmarks to Internet Explorer]]
*also this list of help articles [/products/firefox/download-and-install]
I have not attempted to provide a solution to crashes, but there are several help articles on that, and on Flash issues and java.

    Sosseres

    Hi,
In this case, you need to setup Single Sign-On (SSO) between your SAP Portal and Websphere.
Please refer to the following URL:
    IBM WebSphere
Here, you will find all the guides that explain how this SSO can be established. Under the General Section, you will find documentation that describe the SSO cases. Under the section of interoperability, you can find the guides like "How to Set Up SSO Between SAP NetWeaver Portal and IBM WebSphere Portal Using TAI".
Use these guides to setup SSO.

  • Recently I cannot view certain attached videos because I need the adobe flash player. It does not get installed and the system says it will do so once firefox is closed. pl.help

recently certain video or pictorial attachments to my e-mails be opened because the system requires the installation of the Adobe Flash player with Java plug-ins. The message also gives a link for installation. It appears to install but nothing really happens. Then the message advises that it will install automatically once security is uninstalled or when Firefox is off. Nothing seems to work. Please help. P.S. I recently also installed the Firefox 4.0 version also

1.Download the Flash setup file from here using Firefox: <br />
    [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. <br />
Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). <br />

  • Downloading/installing adobe flash player on a Nok...

    Hi,
I can't watch Youtube videos on my Nokia 5300,as i get a message saying i need adobe flash player or java, the latter which i've got and is also enabled.
I've tried to download adobe flash player, but to no avail, if anyone knows where, and how i can download/install this directly onto my phone or via PC it would be very much appreciated.

I don't think you can watch youtube videos within the browser of the phone.
I don't think there is anyway to stream them unless maybe if you go to www.m.youtube.com.
If that doesn't work i don't think there is any more ways to do this.Message Edited by 6280 on 02-Nov-200708:29 PM

  • Installing Flash Player 11 but AV is noticing a virus.

I have tried to install the new flash player twice now and both times my Webroot AV tells me there if a virus associated when I am in the middle of installing.
    c:\users\xxxxxxx\appdata\local\temp\3b5a.tmp
    c:\users\xxxxxxx\appdata\local\temp\e33c.tmp
I have had rogue viruses before from installing flash player or java from the correct associated website. Why is this? Is instaling the new flash player really a threat?

Most likely your AV definitions are outdated.
Also, try the full installer(s) from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550
