Flash AS2: Setting text of textfield through code causes some characters to be deleted

I have the following line of code to set the text of a Dynamic textfield:
boxCopy.text = 'Coming soon: 30th January 2014';
but when I compile the file, it shows as: 'Coming soon: 0th January 201'
I have no idea why this is. The font character set contains all the numeric characters, so it should display it.
Anyone got any ideas?

Normally whenever there is an issue with characters not displaying the solution is to embed the font in the textfield.

I have been asked to refresh the layout of an existing document that utilizes Zapfino font. The font is yellow with a black stroke at 50% opacity and also with a drop shadow. The group of text with the inconsistent color is immediately under a group of text w/ the same layer styles applied (which remains solid with the correct color).
When I save the PSD file as a PDF to send the client, the yellow switches to white in a clean break arbitrarily in some of the characters in the output PDF files. I've tried rebuilding the file twice to see if there was some error in the file but to no avail.
Any ideas on what I could try?

How about posting a screenshot?
Is the type one of the faux-styles (faux-bold, faux-italic etc.)?
if this doesnt help, maybe try rasterizing the text?
In general I would rather recommend »Convert to Shape« to at least maintain vector-output, but if a stroke is applied that’s probably useless anyway.

Invoking Menu through Code

Is there any way I can invoke the menu code when I press a button in the form. The menu is attached to form.

Hi Rajesh,
The form object has a mode property which you can set to change the current mode of the form. This should allow you to open a form and set its default mode through code to Find (fm_FIND_MODE).

Switching from Flash-AS2 to Flex

Good choice. Best you can do is making a new project with Flex Builder.
Probably you can use (parts of) your existing AS2 code (be aware of the differences with AS3).
Is there a particular reason why you want to use webservices?
If not, you can considering calling the data-XML's directly by HTTPService for example.

I the same issue or something close.
Except I have one Field (27) that get a trunacation error
Error:

The "output column "Column 27" (91)" failed because truncation occurred, and the truncation row disposition on "output column "Column 27" (91)" specifies failure on truncation. A truncation error occurred on the specified object of the specified component.

I have found four things that I always check when I run into this problem. I have yet to find a time when one of these didn't work (specifically helps when reading data from flat files but I suppose most of the four would apply to any source). Check out my blog post, content repeated below:
1. Make sure to properly configure the "Flat File Source". When setting the connection properties to the flat file, take time to click on the advanced tab and ensure that the" Name", "DataType", and "OutputColumnWidth" properties are set properly. I have found that if this is setup correctly when the initial connection is created, some if not all of the data type issues and errors can be alleviated. The "Flat File Connection Manager Editor" can be accessed while initially creating the connection or by double clicking on a flat file connection within the "Connection Managers" for connections that have previously been created.
2. Depending on the order and steps that were used to create the connection to the flat file, sometimes the data types need to be updated in an additional area. This can be found by right clicking on the "Flat File Source" and selecting "Show Advanced Editor...". Once in the advanced editor, click on the "Input and Output Properties" tab. Expand the "External Columns" folder. For each field being loaded from the flat file there are some configurable properties. Make sure that the "DataType" field is properly set for each field.
3. Something else that can be done if you are sure that the data type is set correctly in both of the two previously mentioned locations is to set the "Flat File Source" to essentially ignore those annoying truncation errors. On the same "Input and Output Properties" tab, expand the "Output Columns" folder. For those fields listed, there is a "TruncationRowDisposition" property. By default this is set to "RD_FailComponent". This can be switched to "RD_IgnoreFailure" in order to allow the data to successfully pass through the "Flat File Source" even if SSIS believes that truncation is going to occur. Along with making this change, you can also check the "DataType" in the "Output Columns" as well.
Caution: If you do set the "Flat File Source" to "RD_IgnoreFailure" as mentioned above, always take time to review the data loaded in the target table to ensure that the integrity of the data was not jeopardized.
Note: I have found that when the "DataType" for both the "External Columns" and "Output Columns" is manually updated that it does not remain the same when the advanced editor is reopened. For this reason, try Steps 1 and 2 before setting the "Output Columns" manually.
4. The last thing to try, and this applies specifically to loading data from Excel files as opposed to text or CSV is to set the package to run in 32-bit mode. Click on "Project" on the top menu and select "Data Imports Properties...". Click on "Debugging" under the "Configuration Properties" and set the "Run64BitRuntime" to "False".
Working with data from flat files can sometimes be difficult in SSIS. By using one or many of the approaches I have listed above you should be able to create a repeatable process that is frequently needed within most SSIS packages. Be very careful when setting data types within SSIS and make sure to do it upfront when necessary because it can be harder to debug later in the development process. If the proper changes are made it should not be a surprise to feel a big SSIS developer sense of relief when the screen shows all green.

Using Oracle Text to search through WORD, EXCEL and PDF documents

What I would like to know is if I have a WORD or PDF document stored in a table. Is it possible to use Oracle Text to search through the actual WORD or PDF document?

Yes you can do context sensitive searches on both PDF and Word docs. With the PDF you need to make sure they are text and not images. Some scanners will create PDFs that are nothing more than images of document.
Below is code sample that I made some time back to demonstrate the searching capabilities of Oracle Text. Note that the example makes use of the inso_filter that is no longer shipped with Oracle begging with Patch set 10.1.0.4. See metalink note 298017.1 for the changes. Set text of container - javascript help, please!

I have used Dreamweaver behaviours to "Set text of container" and make different writing appear inside a box when I click a hotspot. Now I want people to be able to click on the writing that just appeared and make more text appear in another box. Could someone tell me how to do this? I don't think I can use Dreamweaver's behaviours for this because there's no material trigger... in that the writing that is the trigger only appears when the first trigger is clicked, but I'm more than happy to be corrected!!
So, I've been trawling through javascript libraries but I don't know what I'm doing, so if someone could either tell me how to do this in dreamweaver or really spell out what libraries etc. I need to download and what code I need to make a bit of text that's already a set text of a container into a trigger for a set text of another container, that would be great!
Sorry for the complicated question, it's difficult to explain what I mean.

If I am sending message using different browser in same pc then I can get the message which was send from another swf file but I am checking from another pc then message not coming in receiver swf file.

I am trying to modify the value of the field "Job Code" through API I am getting the following error.(OIM11gr2). I do not get this error when updating the other fields. Having problems setting text to a JLabel!!

i'm having problems setting text to a JLabel.
i have a JFrame with a JPanels and on the JPanel i have a JLabel.
I have a text field wihich is used to input text.
So, i'm using textField.getText() to read the text of the text field and setText() to write it to the Label.
but setText() isn't displaying the text on the label.
I'm using NetBeans as an ide
Does anyone have any ideas??

Import Error (Partial Set failure with RC error code = 0x84020020 for rec

Hi,
While importing the data through xls file , i am getting the error message "Partial Set failure with RC error code = <0x84020020> for record number
0 through 212" and no record get created in Data manager.
Although i mapped all values , still it giving me an error message.
I tried to Import other data and it was all working fine.

HI,
I checked the exl file and found that in the first column and first data was in text format ('0001)but later on when i change the record and moved it to the last record , it worked fine. I was able to load all records including ('0001)
I don't know wht the logic behind this:
if my first record was ('0001), system was giving me the error and not allowing me to load the data. But when i moved the record as the last record it not only allow me to load the records but allow ('0001) also.
If anyone have any clue , plz let me know.

i will try to explin myself i want to let the user to enter only 40 characters despite the fact that the text item can get up to 70 char ( the text item is based on DB column that is varchar2(70)) and i want to limit the user to 40 char because i take the item he updated or insered from the oracle DB and load it to another DB there the same column is in type varchar2(40) and i want to limit the user insted of substructing the string he is inserting.
