Flash ComboBox with a textfield component

Hi,
How can I add textfields created at runtime into flash combobox? Something just like we have item renderers in Flex...

use addItem or addItemAt to add additional textfields to the cb during runtime.

Just like the search textfield in this web site. Do you guys have any idea? Where I should start? What model that I should overallwrite?

  • How to populate ComboBox with images?

    Hello, I was just wondering if it is possible to populate a
    ComboBox with images or icons? If it is possible, I want each item
    to have both a picture and text. Any help on this matter would be
    great!

    I'm using Flash AS3. I currently have the code working for
    the tileList component. I load the "label:", "source:" and "data:"
    from a php script. It works great! Tried to do the same method for
    the comboBox with no luck. I have spent lots of time searching the
    web for help on this, but unfortunately AS3 is still relatively new
    and much differant from previous versions of actionscript, so it is
    hard to find any good examples. Although the help and examples for
    AS3 is pretty extensive on adobes website, it seems that I can
    never find the help and examples that relate to any problems I
    might encounter.

  • Grey Screen with Flashing Folder with Question Mark

    Hi,
    I need some help with an issue I'm having on my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro (13"; OSX 10.9.2; 8GB RAM).  I've had issues with this Macbook for the past year.  I've worked with Apple Support and had it into the Mac Store prior to the warranty expiring (Dec 2013).  I have the exact same model with all of the same specs that my employer purchased at the same time for work as my work computer, and I haven't had any issues with that one.
    Previously, the system would slow down excessively and eventually start hanging. Occasionally the screen would start flashing.  Apple phone support had me wipe the hard drive and re-install the OS and all of my file, apps, and setting from my Time Machine backup.  That worked for about four months, and then it started again. Since it was getting close to the warranty expiration, I took it to an Apple Store. They ran a bunch of diagnostics, said the hardware was all fine but the OS needed to be re-installed.  They did that in early Dec, and everything was cool again until about three days ago.  Three days ago, it started slowing down and freezing again (even when doing non-memory intensive tasks such as broswing the web with only a couple of tabs open and no other applications open).  Last night, it froze hard and wouldn't shut down, so I had to cold boot it.  When I tried to power it back on, it came to the grey screen with the flashing folder with the question mark (which I know means it can't find the boot sector).  I waited until this morning, and it stil wouldn't boot. I then rebooted into Startup Manager, and the HDD was there. I selected the HDD, and it booted fine and ran fine for a couple of hours (I was able to do a Time Machine backup).  Then it froze up solid again. I waited for an hour or so before cold booting (don't like doing that), and when I tried rebooting, I got the flashing folder with the question mark. I tried booting into the Startup Manager again, but this time, my HDD wasn't listed. I then booted into the OSX Recovery utility (CMD R on boot), went into the Disk Utility hoping to do a disk repair, but my HDD wasn't listed. I have an external SATA to USB adapter, so I pulled the HDD, hooked it to a USB port on my other (identical except it doesn't have problems) Macbook Pro.  Once my other Macbook booted, the HDD from the bad Macbook Pro showed up fine.  I ran a verify and repair disk on the HDD from the bad Macbook, and it didn't show any issues.
    So I figured I'd be really brave. I took the HDD from the bad Macbook Pro and put it in my work (good) Macbook Pro (I took the HDD out of my working work Macbook Pro).  It booted fine.  I then did the verify and repair disk (again no errors) and verify and repair permissions (it found a few, but no more than it has in the past). I ran it that way for about an hour with no issues. That led me to believe that the HDD for my personal Macbook was fine, and it must be an issue with the SATA cable or the mainboard.
    Here's where it gets odd.  I put the HDD from my work Macbook Pro into the bad Macbook Pro thinking it wouldn't even recognize it.  It did recognize it, and it booted fine.  I ran it like that for about 30 minutes.  It did have a couple of short freeze ups, but it didn't lock up solid. I didn't want to push my luck and possibly damage the HDD for my work Macbook, so I shut down the bad Macbook Pro ended the experiment at that point.
    I put the original HDD back in the Macbooks where they originally came from. I then ran the Apple Hardware Test (press and hold D on startup) on the bad Macbook Pro; I did the extended testing option. It ran for about an hour, but it didn't find any issues with the bad Macbook Pro.
    I put the HDD from the bad Macbook back in my working Macbook and wiped the disk and reinstalled OSX from a Time Machine Backup from last week (before the problems occured).  Put it back in the bad Macbook and still no luck. Finally I tried resetting the PRAM because I saw that as one of the options on this discussion board.
    I've searched and read everything I can find related to this, but I can't find anything that works, and I'm at my wits end.  Can anyone point me in a direction of what might be wrong and what else to try?
    Thanks!
    Mike

    You performed thorough and methodical troubleshooting, and this appears to be the most important result:
    I put the HDD from my work Macbook Pro into the bad Macbook Pro thinking it wouldn't even recognize it.  It did recognize it, and it booted fine.  I ran it like that for about 30 minutes.  It did have a couple of short freeze ups, but it didn't lock up solid.
    Given compatible hardware, you ought to be able to swap hard disk drives in exactly that manner, so it shouldn't surprise you that it worked. However, installing the "known good" HDD in the problem machine should not have resulted in any freeze-ups at all.
    You can conclude the hard disks (both of them) are serviceable and whatever fault exists probably lies elsewhere. Often the SATA cable is damaged or not seated properly, and is likely to fail more than anything on the logic board. Inspect the logic board's SATA connections and make sure there are no contaminants or damage. The two drives and two logic boards are going to have slightly different component tolerances, so perhaps the defective one is simply exceeding some limit.
    Apple Hardware Test is very cursory and essentially tests for the presence of operable hardware. It is far from an exhaustive test, and only a report of a failure can be relied upon for accuracy. For a more thorough test you would need to have Apple evaluate it using the time-consuming Apple Service Diagnostics. Even then, they may come up without a clue, and eventually someone will suggest a logic board replacement which can be expensive.
    It is an unusual problem, and I don't know how much time Apple would invest in diagnosing it before they conclude you really ought to buy a new Mac instead. They might surprise you though in that a "depot repair", if yours is eligible, is a very cost effective option so consider it.
    Given your ability you might also consider purchasing a replacement logic board from PowerbookMedic, or even sending it to them for a flat rate repair.

  • Loading a combobox with data from a different domain

    I have filled in a combobox with values from an .asp page and
    have used it
    successfully. The problem is that if the flash file is ran
    from a different
    domain from the load location, the combobox doesn't get
    filled in (as
    apposed to the error if I ran it off of my drive).
    datafeed.asp spits out the appropriate stuff for the AddItems
    function to
    read correctly. (as I has said, it does work). The combobox
    gets filled in
    the development environment (Macromedia Flash MX Professional
    2004) as well
    as flash player.
    But when I upload it to one of my other websites, the data is
    never
    retrieved. Even though that the webserver containing the data
    feed, the
    webserver hosting the flash file and my machine can all read
    datafeed.asp.
    Am I missing a setting that allows a flash file to read data
    from another
    domain?
    The following code has been changed for security reasons. But
    believe me it
    works in its original format.
    myData = new LoadVars();
    myData.onLoad = AddItems;
    myData.load("
    http://www.mydomain.com/datafeed.asp")
    function AddItems() {
    for (i=0; i<numItems; i++) {
    var ProductID = eval("myData.ProductID"+i);
    var ProductName = eval("myData.ProductName"+i);
    var ProductSale = eval("myData.ProductSale"+i);
    var DataProvider = { productid
    roductID, productsale
    roductSale };
    _root.application.chooseproducts.prodlist_cb.addItem(ProductName,
    DataProvider);
    Thank You,
    Julian

    not sure, but this might be what you need...
    //allow loading of files from domain
    System.security.allowDomain("
    http://www.mydomain.com");

  • Populating a ComboBox with names of all Cue Points

    I'm working with Flash CS4 and ActionScript 3.  I have a .flv file with about 30 cue points created in Soundbooth.  When I run my video my listener  picks up the cue points as expected.  What I am trying to do now is populate a combobox with a list of all the cue points in the .flv file.  Seems like it should be a super easy task to access an array of all the cue points in the .flv - but so far no luck.
    I am using FLVPlayback to run my video.
    Appreciate any advice as to how to access a list of all cue points.  Thanks.

    Got it!
    For anyone else looking, here it is:
    // this assumes you have a copy of FLVPlayBack downloaded to and instanced as my_FLVPlybk
    import fl.video.*;
    my_FLVPlybk.addEventListener(MetadataEvent.METADATA_RECEIVED,
        handleMetadata);
    function handleMetadata(e:MetadataEvent):void {
        var data:Object = e.info;
        recurseTrace(data, "");
    function recurseTrace(info:Object, indent:String):void
            for (var i:* in info) {
                    if (typeof info[i] == "object") {
                           trace(indent + i + ":");
                           recurseTrace(info[i], indent + " ");
                   } else {
                           trace(indent + i + " : " + info[i]);

  • Disabling flash display in Air HTML Component

    Hi,
    in my AIR application, I use an HTML Component in its own
    sort of frame or container that has a viewing size that is smaller
    than the web page itself. Next to it is a panel with many controls
    in it. When a website with flash components (e.g. flash banners) is
    displayed, the flash components in the HTML Component overlap the
    control panel even though it's underneath in another container. Is
    there a way to disable showing Flash in an HTML Component or
    another way to make sure everything in an HTML Component stays on
    its own layer?
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi,
    I don't think the problem is because the URL is pointing to a
    JSP. I think the problem might be with the JavaScript which is
    trying to do operations which are not allowed. Please find more
    details at the URL below.

  • Flash crash with Facebook Scrabble

    Flash Crash with Facebook Scrabble
    I've grown accustomed to Facebook Scrabble crashing the Safari on my MacBook at least once or twice a day.
    I noticed that a friend, whose MacBook's OS is updated but has never updated Flash, mentioned that their machine never crashes.
    My daughter used my computer last night and when Safari crashed she said that she's never seen that before. I assume that her MacBook, similarly, never updated Flash.
    I don't know if this is a meaningful pattern, or not, but it appears that my computer, fully up to date with the most current Flash version, crashes repeatedly, but Macbooks with (presumably) older versions, never having upgraded are stable.
    Is it possible to get an older version of Flash?

    Thanks for your reply. I can only speak of Flash Player in general, since I work with PC's. My sister has an iMac and I know there is a "finder" and a "Library", so you can see my knowledge is very very limited. Having said that, it may be helpful for you to find out what version of Flash Player the others have. If you have the latest (10.0.45.2) then that would give you some info to compare to.
    Then I wouldn't judge Safari or the Flash Player version by just one website. If that is happening, it could be that the website has not updated and may not support the latest version of Flash Player which I assume you have Installed.
    Should it be happening on various websites, then you could assume something like an add on is conflicting. Adblock or pop up blocker software can actually block Flash content. An Anti-Virus component can as well. Perhaps you can compare add ons with the others that aren't having a problem.
    I can say that many users of the PC have issues with Facebook and the various games. You may want to contact either one and ask if they support vs 10.0.45.2. Others have done so and the response varies as to their opinion as to the cause.
    I hope this will give you some direction that you can take to find a solution. One final bit of info. Let's say Facebook supports the latest version and you don't have any adblock or pop up blocking software and all of your Flash files are Installed correctly. With a PC, in IE, an ActiveX Control is needed to work with the Flash files. In Firefox the SWF is needed.
    Thanks,

  • ComboBox with checkboxes

    I need to have an ItemRenderer in the Grids that will combine a combobox with checkboxes. Any idea/sample?
    Thanks

    Finally i used a double change:
    <mx:Component>
                                                                <mx:CheckBox selectedField="selected" change="data.selected = selected; outerDocument.filtromeses()" />
    </mx:Component>
    Because this checkbox its inside a Component tag, if i want to access the filtromeses() function thats outside, need to add the OuterDocument.
    Not sure if its the best way but it works.

  • Problem using a Flash MX 2004 Progress Bar Component within a Movieclip

    I'm try to setup a progress bar to show the percentage loaded
    of a mp3 audio file using the Flash MX 2004 Progress bar component.
    I can get the progress bar to the work normally by the having the
    component on the stage (not in a movie clip) with the component set
    to:
    mode: polled
    source loader
    with the following actionscript on the layer above:
    pBar.setStyle("themeColor", 0xFF0000);
    var loader:Object = new Sound();
    loader.loadSound("http:/www.mywebsite.co.uk/mymp3.mp3",
    true);
    But I won't to put the preloader inside a Movie Clip (the
    movie clip is called 'content_MC') as the website has alot of
    content. When I do this the mp3 file still streams but the Progress
    Bar doesn't work.
    I think I just need to change the action script so that it
    links with the component telling it to calculate the progress of
    the audio streaming file.
    Am I right? Where am I going wrong?

    I found the problem!!
    While exploring the Fireworks MX 2004 folder located under
    "C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Macromedia\"
    folder I discovered that this folder was empty. So, I connected the
    old hard drive and investigated the contents of the corresponding
    folder on that drive. Discovering the wide assortment of files and
    folders in that folder, I simply copied the contents of that folder
    to the Fireworks MX 2004 folder and retried running the application
    and IT WORKED!
    Thanks for all your communications and in depth
    troubleshooting steps, I will keep them in may Application
    troubleshooting Tool Tips for future reference. I have included the
    actions used here which brought about the successful resolution of
    this issue so that if you'd like you might include them in any Help
    Desk Methods you may have. It was truly a collaborative effort
    because I would not have thought to explore the Application Data
    folder to resolve this issue without you pointing me in that
    direction.
    Thanks again!

  • Creating a Simple Flash Movie With Poster Frame and Play/Pause Buttons

    Hi, It's been over a year since I played with Flash last, and
    I have completely forgotten everything I learned.
    I have a .flv file which I want to play on my website. It
    should display a poster frame when the page load, and not autoplay
    the movie. It should have the play button I made in photoshop
    sitting on top of the poster frame. When pressed, the movie should
    start playing and the button should be shifted for the pause button
    I made in PS (it should work just like the play/pause button in
    iTunes). When the movie has finished playing, it should jump back
    to the poster frame.
    I have tried using the flvplayback component and also played
    around with just embedding the flv directly and inserting a play
    and pause button from the common library, but I can't seem to get
    it to work. With the flvplayback component I have managed most of
    it apart from using my own buttons and getting the poster frame to
    work (which apparently has to be done with Action script).
    Any help appreciated.

    Which version of Flash/actionscript are you using? Since you
    are just starting out, you should read one of Adobe's tutorials on
    the matter. Either use Flash Help to find examples on how to use
    Flash or go to their website. Here is a great tutorial for someone
    just starting out. Make sure you read all three tutorials in "Using
    Flash for the first time".

    Hello, I done a tutorial from learnflash.com on Integrating
    Flash CS3 with XML, and I can't figure out why when the file is
    published the scrollbar component doesn't work.

    Yep, big difference. Flash CS3 is the earlier version of
    Flash, so you can't open CS4 files in CS3. You are probably
    confusing CS3 with AS3, which is supported by both versions of
    Flash CS#.

  • Combobox with multiple columns

    Is it possible to make a combobox with two columns in the dropdown area?
    Thanks

    make your own componen to show 2 colums... and assig it to combo box as itemrenderer...

            itemRenderer = "components.twoColums">
        </mx:ComboBox>
    mybe you need to add width and dropdowwidth properties to show the items in a good way....hope this work..
    PD. this works the same for Adobe autocomplete.. as autocomplete is a component heritated from combobox..:
    make  shure you have included  the autocomplete component in your project at its says in the readme file included by Adobe then..
        <Adobe:AutoComplete id="myCB" arrowButtonWidth = "30" dataProvider="{yourdata}" labelField="Column1"
            itemRenderer = "components.twoColums">
        </Adobe:AutoComplete>
    note the arrowButtonWidth if you dont put this property the autocomplete will just show as a common text field...
    remember auto complete will have some issues with the itemrenderer stuff.. if you wirite too fast, the first character you write will be lost, so calmd down,  im traing to figure out how to soleve that issue...
    haaaa by the way if you already have another way to show 2 columns please telme how you solve it...

  • Flash 8 asset Xtra update - component event workaround

    Sorry to post so much about this. Lots of us are having major
    headaches because after the Flash 8 asset Xtra update Flash
    component events in Director don't behave as they once did.
    BUT I've discovered you can use a combination of
    addEventListener() and setCallback() to respond to events, at least
    with the button component. Fortunately this works with the new
    Shockwave player too. It’s a little convoluted, but at least
    clicking a button makes stuff happen now.
    It’s easier to let you look at it yourself than try to
    explain it, I’m getting brain dead from experimenting with
    this all evening. Click
    HERE
    to download the zip file.
    Please look through the code and see if you can come up with
    anything else to add. Hopefully smarter folks than me will be able
    to work more of this out. It doesn’t seem like we’re
    getting any help from Adobe on this. I posted a question on Tom
    Higgins’ blog today and got an auto response saying
    he’s on vacation until April 24 and won’t be checking
    email. He’s usually good about communicating with developers
    about Director, so with luck he’ll be able to help out.
    Optimally they’ll fix the durn thing. If you have time please
    post anything you discover regarding components after installing
    the new asset Xtra.

    I had a look at your file, and I noticed:
    function buttonClick(me,passedObj)
    // unfortunately this don't work
    for (var objProps in passedObj)
    ember("infoText").text += objProps;
    two things:
    First, I think what you're trying (getting info on the object
    properties) might only work in lingo.
    on buttonClick(me,passedObj,eventObj)
    --put a break point in here, and inspect the objects
    member("infoText").text = "label property: " &
    eventObj.target.label
    member("infoText").text = member("infoText").text &
    RETURN & "toggle property: " & eventObj.target.toggle
    end
    Second, I was playing with this, and discovered through the
    function's (undocumented) arguments array that the third argument
    is the event object which is another place to test for variables.
    An event object has a 'type' property (in this case "click"), and a
    'target' property which is the button. Hope this helps!
