Flash content activating IE controls

I am having difficulty with flash inserts in my pages
activating IE controls and messing up the appearance of my page.
What can I do to offset the presence of flash in my pages
activating these controls in IE?
Help please.
Thanks

It's IE-only behaviour as a result of changes Microsoft made
several
years ago to their browser, regarding how Active Content
(Flash, Quicktime
etc)
is handled, after losing a high profile court case.

If you're running Dreamweaver 8.0.2/CS3, the fix is already

  • Mac OS X solution similar to a Win32 Flash Active X Control

Hello, I've found code for Win32 that enables my to playback
flash content in my application via an Active X control (actually
not to hard to setup). I'm currently looking for a similar solution
for Mac OS X. Has anyone done something like this?

I think I understand what you want to do, and one used to be able to do the same sort of thing on a Mac, but not any more. Some of the temp files are now .cache files and some are QuickTime cache files, with the extension .qtch, and I have never been able to figure out how to do anything with either of the types. I find it pretty annoying knowing that the file is already on my drive, but in order to save it I have to re-download the thing rather than grabbing the cache file.

  • How do I get Active X control for flash player registered?

I have been having problems with flashplayer.  I continue to get different messages when I try to download.  The latest message is:  Active X control for flash player could not be registered.  What do I do to get the system working?

Looks to be a permission issue.  Do you have administrator priveleges on the machine?

You may also want to try this method to fix permissions with flash player.

  • User control over Flash content?

Speaking strictly as a user, I want better control over Flash content.  I am tired of Flash-based movies automatically playing just because I visit a web site - especially with audio enabled.  I want to be able to configure my browser so that Flash content cannot automatically start.  I don't want to disable Flash entirely, I just want to be in control (regardless of the web site developer's intentions).   Is this possible?   If I desire to view the animation, I will intiate playback myself.

There are a few widget libraries out there. Google for Synclast or J2ME Polish.

  • Flash content blank and unable to access flash control panel to turn off hardware acceleration.

Flash content appears as blank and nothing happens when attempting to access flash player settings. Not sure if it helps, but the operating system is Mac OS X Mavericks running in virutal machine.

    Hi 薛定谔的老猫,

  • Removing border around Flash content

I really cant stand what adobe has done to the flash player.
    They totally messed it up.
My question is how do I remove the box/boarder that the new
flash player puts around flash content.
Go to a site with flash content, once there hover your mouse
over the content, you will notice a box/boarder around the content
    now.
HOW DO I REMOVE THIS, so freaking annoying!
Just leave Flash how it was Adobe.
Good to see how you come and take over macromedia, and then
you jack with thier software making it a total annoyance.
Tell me how to turn this boarder crap off.

You really are shooting off obviously without having read any
    of the
hundreds of news reports on this in the last couple of months
    .. nor the
hundreds of forum posts here. Do a little research before you
    start
mouthing off about what adobe has done .. otherwise you are
    just looking
    very foolish.
Adobe has done nothing here. Microsoft have been forced as a
    result of
EOLAS suing them to change how IE works with all embedded
    ActiveX controls
    (including Flash).
It is up to web site authors to change their HTML so the
    flash content
    doesn't need to be activated.
There is nothing you can do about it, nor adobe, nor
    Microsoft.
You can temporarily do something about it be going to MS site
    and
downloading a patch that turns off this new behaviour for a
    month or two
    (its only a temporary fix).
If you are a web site author, then see the many posts in the
    flash general
discussion about what you should do .. in particular look at

  • Flash content blocks Menu dropdowns

SOS. I have a page with a horizontal menubar with dropdown
submenus, created in Project 7's PopMenu. The menus work fine on
text pages, but when the dropdown menus intersect a Flash video,
the display of the submenu is erratic.
    Sample page at:
    http://www.djfilms.ca/anims/swamp.html
I seem to recall that Active X controls are a problem, but I
can't find an answer anywhere, hence this squawk for help.
Any assistance gratefully received. Regards, David,
    Ottawa

All Active content on a page will always rise to the top, so
    to speak,
including Flash, certain form elements, Java applets, and
    Active X controls.
This means that each of these will poke through layers. There
    is not a good
cross-browser/platform reliable way to solve this issue, but
    if you can be
confident in your visitors using IE 5+ or NN6+, then you can
    use the Flash
wmode parameter (however, Safari does not support this
    properly!).

  • Question about DW 8.0.2 fix for Flash-IE-Active PITA

I've been happily using Dreamweaver MX and Flash MX for my
modest web development efforts. Since I only use a tiny fraction of
each program's features, I've had no reason to upgrade.
I have a fairly extensive website (not incredibly
sophisticated, but it's got a lot of pages, each containing one or
more SWF files). The content of the website is static, and I hadn't
planned to put much (any?) work into updating it.
So now I'm dealing with the recent Internet Explorer/Active X
controls and Flash disaster (yeah, I know, most people went through
this a couple months ago - I've been busy with other stuff). As I
understand it, there are several potential fixes for the problem
(for existing web pages). Most seem to involve adding an external
javascript file and editing the HTML. I see there's also a
    Dreamweaver 8.0.2 update.
To me, the thought of wading into every page and futzing with
a javascript patch for each is pretty unappealing. So here's my
question; does the DW 8.0.2 'fix" really fix existing files,
authored in previous versions of Flash and Dreamweaver? If I
upgrade to the latest version (8.0.2), and then I simply open up my
existing HTML files (which contain SWF files) in 8.0.2, and resave
them, will that fix the problem? Or is there more futzing that
needs to be done to fix the IE problem?
    Thanks.

    Yes.

When you open them, DW will prompt you to add the fix. You
    can elect not to,
if you want. After applying the fix, you then have to upload
    both the
changed files *and* the new "Scripts" folder that DW has
    created for you.

I have a spry menu bar with sub bars and below that menu bar
I have flash video. Well, the submenu content of menu bar is not

  • Flash contents not being displayed on the published Apex application URL

I've had to publish one of my apex application through an bluecoat proxy to reach my Oracle HTTP server. It works fantastic for everything - except my flash charts. Flash contents are not getting loaded.Issue is only in the published application URL,the same application is working fine internally without proxy.
Does anyone have any idea why this is failing and how I might fix this?.The bluecoat support enginner is having the following findings
I am seeing some strange behavior when the browser goes through the
proxy vs when it does not.
When the browser uses the proxy the last thing it requests is the
    following(packet 354):
    GET /i/themes/theme_20/btn-bg.gif HTTP/1.1 Via: 1.1 GITS6ISA Cookie:

    That is the browser requests
    http://ithelpdesk.anupcomp.ae/i/themes/theme_20/btn-bg.gif and gets a
    200 ok from the proxy/server.
When the browser does not use the proxy I see the following
    behavior(packet 2783):
    The browser requests
    http://anupserver:7777/i/themes/theme_20/btn-bg.gif 2 times, each time
the server responds with a 304 not modified status, this means the
browser has the most recent copy of the .gif file. The browser finally
does a post to http://anupserver:7777/pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept. Given
that the browser gets a 200 ok response from the proxy when requesting
    http://ithelpdesk.anupcomp.ae/i/themes/theme_20/btn-bg.gif and then
stops requesting data, we need to understand why the browser is behaving
differently without the proxy(i.e. why does it request the content 2
times and why is it doing the post). The interaction between the
browser and the proxy appears normal, a 200 ok response with content is
normal, why does the browser stop requesting content?

    Hi,
I have a flash content in my webpage, when viewed online

Is there a common script / method to markup the webpage so
that IE understands that there is a flash content that doesn't

  • Loading Flash content using loadMedia??? Or else??? Has to be XHTML 1.0 Strict and WAG valid

I have a new project into which i have to insert SWF into an HTML page using other way that the standard Abobe way to do it.
I know about Flash Satay but i have 300s Flash files to insert and dont want to reopen each of them.
My HTML pages have to W3C comply and as you know, the <classic id> or <embed> tag isnt valid regarding XHTML 1.0 Strict.
Client, who insists that his media be accessible to EVERYBODY, suggested using
    "javascript:loadMedia('flashContainer','flv/v01.flv', '', '', 'fra', '','','', 'false');"><img src="images/flashFr.jpg" alt="" /></a></p>
where loadMedia is a function with these parameters
    <!-- Parameters for loadMedia function
    loadMedia('mediacontainer', '<file>', '<caption>', '<image>', '<lang>', '<playId>', '<height>', '<width>', '<autostart>' )
    - mediacontainer - /* container that holds the player */
    - file - /* Specifies the location of the file to play. */ (.flv)
    - caption - /* Specifies the location of the xml-based captions file using the SMIL Timed Text format. */
    - image - /* Specifies the image to display when playing MP3 or FLV files. This FlashVar can also be used to display a preview image for other formats. Supported formats are JPG, SWF, PNG, and GIF. */
    - lang - /* Specifies the language of the player. */
    - playId - /* Element id of the player control */
    - height - /* Specifies the window height of the control. */
    - width - /* Specifies the window width of the control. */
    - autostart - /* AutoStart the loaded clip */
    -->
Do you know about that? Can you help? Do you know any other way to insert Flash content with respect to:
    - Javascript on/off valid
    - XHTML 1.0 Strict valid
    - WAG valid.

I am VERY concerned with the fact that my pages are not being properly validated and displayed.
I have created two different sites using iWeb '08 and while I am satisfied with the ease of use, I am concerned that my sites are not being displayed correctly... in fact, the other day my friend who is a Mac whiz and who hosts my business website on his server... tried to visit the site that I created using iWeb '08 and had published to my .Mac account... it caused his browser to flat out crash! He said he hasn't seen anything like that in years!
Here is the site I have begun to build http://www.mcleanmonowheel.com
If you paste this url into http://validator.w3.org/ a slew of errors pop up.
Is this the norm with iWeb or have I done something wrong on my end???

  • Flash content flashing and crashing mac

    Hello,
Since the latest FF and Flash update (37 and 17) I can't watch any videos or flash content - like (annoying ad) banners. Everything literally FLASHES. Like a strobe light. Then videos get stuck, the cursor jumps/freezes, sound stutters and eventually mac crashes (panic). The fans are constantly hyperventilating but nothing weird is running in activity monitor.
    I have:
    * Uninstalled and reinstalled flash; same for Firefox; cleaned flash cache - nothing
    * I only have flash, java and QuickTime plugins installed
    * Downgraded flash to previous version (16) - better, no flashes, but still stutters and crashes after watching video for 10-15 minutes most (sometimes not even that)
    * Tried to watch using VPN but after a while graphics and sound go crazy
    * Decided to upgrade again to flash 17. Now it flashes again and I can't watch videos for even 1 minute.
    * Tried the about:config media.mediasource.enabled (change to true); dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode (change to false); Firefox "get info" open with 32-bit mode; - nothing worked
What can I do? Any idea?
    Thanks

    mms.cfg = Flash Player
Go to your plugins page. Set everything video to '''Ask.'''
You could try disabling Flash plugin's protected mode. The protected mode feature of the Flash player plugin has security benefits, but seems to have compatibility issues on some systems. There is a new hidden setting for this:
    (A) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (B) In the search box above the list, type or paste flash and pause while the list is filtered
    (C) Double-click the dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode preference to switch its value from false to true.
This might not take effect until all Flash has been unloaded for a few minutes, or you close Firefox.
    1) Enter the config by typing about:config in the address bar.
    2) Enter media.mediasource.webm.enabled and press enter.
    3) Right click on it and change to true, for some reason it is set as "false" which makes MSE & WebM VP9 not work properly.
    4) Visit: https://www.youtube.com/html5 and check that everything is OK.
    5) Try to watch a video. It should work now.
